She seemed very out of it, forgot to give us coffee, then never returned with a refill, though we asked several times. Who doesn't fill the coffee pot at an IHOP? I have been here a few times and each time I've had to wait to be seated no less than 10 minutes. Each of the last two times, there have only been a handful of patrons dining and have still had to wait. We were visiting Atlantic Beach for my son's birthday and we always visit Ihops whenever we are looking for a good breakfast. They weren't really busy and had more than enough servers. We got the alert that our table was ready but when we got inside they had given our table away. We were then seated right in front of the kitchen. We could hear all of the conversations going on. I heard them telling the cooks numerous times things that were wrong. We also could hear some confrontations going on. The hostess also went to the kitchen and told them many of the tables were complaining about slow service. We sat at the front and I could see all.the patrons but our server was no where in site.I could see food just sitting in the window. My youngest son ordered a chicken sandwich which I could see sitting in the window. 3 cups of coffee and 20 mins later they bring our food and the cold chicken sandwich. Told them I didnt want the sandwich but when I bit into my omelet the chicken wasnt done. I was completely over it. So many red flags and I was still going to give them a chance. Living in Carteret County, we have visited this IHOP several times since its opening a few years ago. The last visit was last week. On every visit, no matter how busy or slow the restaurant is, the hostess is never at the hostess stand and we have to wait for someone to seat us. AND....we are always led directly to the booths in front of the kitchen doors. The first time we reluctantly allowed them to sit is there, our entire meal was disrupted with cursing and banter the public does not need to hear from the kitchen. Since that one seating, we protest every time they attempt to seat us there and ask for another location. Last weeks visit was on a weekday morning just after opening time. There was one other table in the restaurant. We again waited for the hostess, again she directed us to in front of the kitchen, I politely asked could we be seated in a different section and she responded with impatience and attitude, directing me to choose "any table in the restaurant". We walked over to the line of booths in front of the window and sat but were informed that booth was dirty, choose another. Again, we sat in the booth next to the dirty one but were yet again informed that booth was dirty too. When I asked which tables were clean she angrily slammed the menus on the first booth we sat at and stomped off telling us the name of our waitress. We waited, and waited, and waited: still only one other table in the restaurant. Over 15 minutes later we were greeted by a waitress who gave her name that was different from whom the hostess told us would be serving us. I was a little irritated but asked our new server about the missing server we were suppose to have and she politely informed us she noticed we had been there a while and was willing to assist us if we were ok with that. Obviously, not wanting to wait longer, we placed our order. The morning was rainy and it was cool inside so I went to our vehicle to get a sweater for myself and ran straight into our server that never showed; she was outside smoking a cigarette. After a short wait, we received our food. It was cold, tasteless and the meat on my husbands dish was well under cooked. I always order the avocado and tomato omelet with a side of fresh fruit. The tomatoes on the omelet were diced really small (as if they came from a can) and tasted horrible. The fresh fruit was definitely NOT fresh but out of a can == a mock fruit cocktail, grapes, pears and cherries with watermelons. My husband ate his breakfast (minus meat) and I dined on a few bites of mine while we waited for our server to return. A few other tables had entered the restaurant and our initial (no show) waitress was attempting to serve food and spilled both plates over their table and onto our ours. The glass came crashing down right beside our booth and scattered all under our table and over our feet. Instead of apologizing to any of us, the waitress mumbled profanity under her breathe and stomped off to the kitchen. Because of the fact our new waitress was the one who came and apologized to us and cleaned our area, we never complained to her about our meal. I actually left her more of a tip than I would have because of her concern for us and the table beside of us. We will not dine at this location ever again. I can tell from the previous reviews form others that this is not a restaurant that cares about its customers or serving quality food. I truly believe the only reason this location is still in business is because of the tourists in the area and the few elderly locals that frequent them every day. Least I forget to mention, my omelet and my husbands eggs, under cooked bacon and under cooked sausage plus two sodas totaled over $33. read more

However, we could not get our waitress to give us refills on our drinks even after asking for them before she left after dropping off our food. Okay. It's only been open a couple weeks, but please... Really?? I've never seen more staff working and less customers attended to in my life. We ordered at 11:00am. They food came to our table at 12:00. Well, part of it. two plates were totally cold. The other one (the man paying, by the way) had to wait for the different plates to be delivered. Pancakes so cold. He asked for butter. When they finally brought it, we were all done. The eggs, (water seeping on the plates) were gross. We had to ask for a coffee refill and it came AFTER our check. We left after 12:20. The kitchen dropped a huge tray of dishes etc in the doorway and no one cleaned it up. Our party of 6 waited 45 minutes after we ordered to receive our food. When we got the food it was all cold and the server had no idea who any if it went to. I understand we didn't go there fir the serve but still. Our server was so upset when we asked to have it fixed. worst service ever. period. the only redeeming quality was the very nice manager that tried to fix it. If only negative stars were an option...This place smells like piss. We went to this restaurant as a reward for my 3-year-old daughter. She wanted smiley face pancakes. She was very disappointed because we left just as soon as we sat down. The entire restaurant smelled of urine! We got up and left, when we did, one of the servers asked what was wrong. Me and my daughter went this past Friday and had breakfast, my checking account was overcharged for times for the same amount the very next day I called and they told me that the manager was not there that they would give the manager my information and I would be getting a call back the next day, I never received a call and my account still had charges on it of course it being a Saturday I could not talk to my bank, this was my best friends Birthday weekend and I had to cancel our plans because on my way to Wilmington I got a call telling me that my card didn't go through for the entire amount for our b&b, that is how I discovered they had charged my card four times resulting in over $100. I called every day for three days with no callback from the manager. On Monday I had to file a claim with my bank which of course the money got put back into my account but still no call back from the manager, no apology, No retribution. I will never step foot in there again. I went five days with my account nearly being to the point of overdrawn and no phone call from the manager. First visit and last. Waited 60 minutes to be served on a Sunday morning at 11:00. Watched several tables walk out after waiting an hour and no food. Told waitress she took French toast back and the cook put it in the microwave. Seriously , it came back with edges dried up waitress said she saw him do it and was shocked, OMG. Worst service I can remember. We were here Sunday morning (9/27/15). First, there was a not-long-but-significant wait and then we found that there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Then the waitress was just plain rude. She was very short with us from word one. We could tell the people next to us were taken aback by her as well. She brought out our breakfast just as we were wondering if we should ask what happened to our order. My crepes had an obvious hair right on top. When I said something, the waitress just grabbed it and stalked off to the kitchen without a word. They remade them, but we had to ask for things several times before she remembered to do them. When she brought the bills, we found that she charged full price for everything - long wait, gross hair, and all. We talked to the manager and she seemed disinterested but did take the crepes off the bill. Just before we left, we heard the bussing staff yelling at our waitress and her yelling back. this place recently got new servers and i'm assuming new cooks too. my husband and i went earlier this year and the food was poorly prepared and the servers weren't the best and never once came back to refill our drinks after first bringing them to our table. it has had a pretty good turnaround since then. we have not been treated so greatly at any other restaurant like we we were at this one. My husband ordered my eggs sunnyside up and i prefer them over-medium but it wasnt so big of a deal that i wanted to re-order them. a server overheard me telling my husband this and came over to ask if i wanted them to whip me up a complimentary order of eggs. i accepted it of course. last time the bacon tasted like it had been microwaved and food arrived kind of cold. all of our food was delicious this time and the staff was very friendly. we will definately be coming back here! read more
