This location is very sad, not only were the three lunch platters that my wife and I ordered for pick up not appetizing. But the Manager at this location would not accept a valid gift card after about 15 minutes of wasting our time we paid for the food and left. We should of just left the order behind food not good and management not accommodating. read more

The service was great, and our waiter was very nice and attentive. I used to enjoy coming to IHOP every now and then for big breakfast, but haven't been in several years. I was surprised to see the portion shrinkage!! The pancakes used to be huge, and I could never finish. Perhaps that was too big, but now they are thin, mini-sized ones that comes on a small plate, I could finish in a few bites. So much so I blurted out "aww so cute" when it came out lol. Every now and then I want some IHOP. After getting my car serviced I stopped by the one on Rt. 22 in N. Plainfield. I walked in behind a couple the gentleman took their name and put them in the list. I walk up to the counter and he turns his back to me and starts to play with the stack of menus. Another young lady saw me standing there and she came over and took my name, 10 minute wait, no problem. I sit down order my food, steak tips with eggs and pancakes. The waitress brings out the paper thin tough as leather steak with eggs. I told her this wasn't what I ordered. Her response was, "You should keep it because they're really busy in the back". I came to ihop today and ordered mozz sticks an Oreo milkshake and eggs. When the Oreo milkshake came out, I was excited and took a giant gulp, only to find out the milk in the milkshake was sour / rotten. I told the server I wanted something else instead and explained that it was sour. You think they would have apologized, but they didn't. I prefer this IHOP over others. I usually always receive great service when I go to this IHOP. My only complaint would be that sometimes the servers are overwhelmed with the amount of tables they have & once you get your food they are hard to find. (but I work in the service industry so I understand & don't count that against them) They usually work with you when it comes to substitutions. Simply ask what you can substitute something for. For example: substituting pancakes for toast. Of course there are exceptions to everything & you may not always be able substitute. The food always comes out fast and hot ! What more do you really need from a restaurant ? They have so many options from breakfast to dinner food. I usually never steer away from the breakfast though. They are the International House of Pancakes for a reason. My recommendations are the smokehouse combo/ create your own omelette/ harvest grain and nut pancakes! So we stopped in for a bite today and it was pretty good. First off our server Luci was attentive and very nice. I got the pancake sampler with strawberry & Banana pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns. The pancakes were the best part. They were fluffy and hot. The rest was ok. The eggs were over cooked and the bacon was as well. They changed the hash browns since I've last been here, because it's more of a casserole and it was very dense and too thick. The top was browned but the bottom was not as cooked and it reminded me of a mash potato pie of sorts. Not like the grated style potatoes that it used to be, so that was disappointing and tasted ok. My wife's cinnamon pancakes were very good. My daughter got the chicken fried steak and she liked the meat and the gravy on top. read more

I ordered an omelette from them this morning 6/20/20 and it was delivered. As I began to eat my omelette I flipped it over, there's a fly cooked into my omelette! I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager at 12:10 PM, just now and he had the nerve to say "well we usually don't have flies in here but it does happen." These chain restaurants are usually make or break depending on the staff. We had such a great server here, attentive, got everything correct on our order, was pleasant, and made us feel welcome. What's not to like about their pancakes and omlettes here?? Got the chocolate chip pancakes, which were delicious. You do have to be specific at IHOP that you want them baked into the batter otherwise you will get them placed on top of regular pancakes. I have learned this from other locations. Our table also split one of the ranchero omlettes, because their omlettes are huge! It was really interesting with the salsa,I enjoyed it, especially nice to balance out all the sweetness of my pancakes. Big portions and average prices. This is a really good IHOP. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is good. I was there recently on a Sunday. The place was packed, but we were seated pretty quickly. The kitchen really gets the food out, because our order was brought quickly, despite there being at least 80 -100 customers while we were there. I got the harvest grain and nut pancake combo with 2 eggs, bacon and hash browns. The pancakes were perfect and the eggs done just right. My son got the cinnamon roll pancakes with sausage. Also very good. Our waitress was very nice, very competent and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, very good experience. Even the coffee was good. I'd definitely go again. read more

Truth told, I needed to spend money to keep my frequent flier points, and this particular IHoP was on the list of places that would accomplish that mission, along with being on my route to a stop I had to make. It was late morning, around 10, and I was seated right away. The place was pretty empty. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient, and my omelette and pancaked were as expected. I like that the calories are listed for EVERY menu item, and as a result, I left the hollandaise sauce off my omelette which hopefully saved at least a couple of hundred calories. I went to a local business to get my tires changed and decided to stop by IHOP seeing as how I had not eaten breakfast yet. I walked into the establishment, did not receive a greeting neither was I asked if I needed any services. 2 groups of people walked in after me, was greeted and seated. Just placed an order via uber eats. The food was as expected from IHOP. The downside was that we called ahead and asked for blueberry syrup. We didn't get get it. Instead we recieved only 1 syrup packet for each order of pancakes. We recieved only 1 butter packet per each. It was a little disappointing. read more

Why did I come here again? Coming to ihop anywhere in NJ is sacrilegious, considering our strong diner culture. It's about on the same level of wrong as going to a domino's or papa john's for pizza. Anyhow, my breakfast was terrible: 2 eggs over easy with turkey bacon and hash browns. It was just mehhh. The hash browns had no crisp or crunch and needed a lot more seasoning. The turkey bacon was on par for what's out there. The eggs seemed to have a pool of oil. My wife's pancakes looked undercooked. She didn't think so. If I ever go to another ihop again, it's because my wife is bored of other diners or we're out of state. This ihop in particular is very busy, however. I grew up with this IHOP next to me. I like to go there on Sunday with family and I never wait too long to get a table (around 10 minutes usually). I've always had excellent service, even when it's extremely busy (which it almost always is) and overall I like the vibe of this location. I live closer to the Hillsborough IHOP actually, but it's not that great because the servers are inattentive, and it seems a little dirty. If you ever get to go to the North Plainfield IHOP you won't be disappointed. Plus, the food at IHOP is really great for the price! read more

However another worker checked the bags waiting for pick up and mine was there. Thus, my order was ready when I arrived but missed by staff member who told me my order would be up soon. When I got home I was pleased how the order of crepes, eggs, potatoes and sausage was packed in a microwaveable container. Upon reheating the flavors of everything were fantastic.
