Less than stellar. The decor needs a touch up and a fresh coat of paint. My pancakes were over cooked which was unexpected since this is the international house of pancakes! Other people pancakes in our party were cooked well. Our waitress Monica was super nice and the best part of our meal! It took a very long time to get our food, and the restaurant was not crowded. We didn't order anything complex just pancakes and eggs. This didn't seem to be a problem with the waitress just a slow kitchen. We won't be going back anytime soon. read more

The sign on the door when we walked in said "no heat". We waited for a table, the waitress got our drink order we got coffee, and no silverware. It took awhile but we finally got silverware. She took our order on a blank receipt paper, and flipped it over and took the next table. When it came time to get our food, they didn't have our order in. The other table got their food and left as well as several other tables they sat down at the same time or after us. An hour and a half for some pancakes. We asked for a refill on coffee and didn't get that, the waitress kept disappearing. So when we seen another waitress refilling coffees we asked her she said she'd be right back. When she came out she only served some to the table next to us. I ordered 4 sausage links and she brought two out when I asked she went back and got two more but when she brought those out they were cold. Even though the food was not good and our waitress wasn't good about coming back to our table. We still tipped her good but I won't ever go to that IHOP again after today's experience. The waitress said she comped our bill, by taking off our two coffees. My pancakes were undercooked. They dropped the toast when coming out my bf asked where his other slice was, so the brought out more and the bread was stale. read more

First off, I'm just grateful that IHOP is open 24/7. The staff is always friendly and the food comes pretty quickly....there's just one thing I think they should address. For being a breakfast restaurant, the bacon is pretty skimpy. Two small slices that I barely get two bites out of each. Please think about some larger slices. read more

I would NOT come to this location. Servers were nice, but not efficient. Our simple breakfast omelet and egg order took over 40 minutes to come out to the table (it spent over 15 minutes sitting on the expo counter), and by the time it arrived it was cold. Requested a new piece of toast on order to get a little food in us, and it took over 10 minutes for that simple request to come out. I haven't been here for a couple years and visited recently. The ENTIRE staff has changed. I mean big changes. Entire staff spoke Spanish to each other and in the back. We go in and there's blaring 80s music. As I come in I'm hoping it's just in the entry way, but it's not. This music is throughout. The place is completely empty except for one table. I just get a simple sandwich and leave. The whole day I felt like I was going to throw up. Needless to say I won't be back. Edit: I just wanted to add something after reading another review. When we were seated there was a teenage waitress that kept flirting with me and it really was totally inappropriate. I wasn't flattered. Believe it or not this was only my second visit ever to an IHOP. I'm just not much of a breakfast person however my kids have been seeing commercials for the "grinch" pancakes on repeat and really wanted to try them. I checked yelp and was immediately concerned about all the poor reviews :( however we had a overall good experience. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and were prepared for it to be busy. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated right away and greeted promptly by a server. She was friendly, quick and efficient. Both kids tried the grinch pancakes and liked them quite a bit. Also they came out looking pretty much spot on to the picture. Again I'm not a breakfast person so I had a burger, it was very good and only 6.99. I've been too several IHOPs. But for some reason the other day when I was at the portage one. It was a nightmare, because my friends and I went on a Sunday morning. (Knowing they'd be busy of course.) Turned out though, they were. Or at least they looked like it. Had nearly 5 groups waiting in the front lobby. But when we got seated there was more than 6 or 7 booths open and ready. By this time it was 15min wait. Seated waiting just for our waters another 15min. (Just to get waters) Another half hour just to get our food. But we had to actually ask if it was coming soon. Being told "it just came up" Took one bite and it was cold. After getting the managers attention and telling him what conspired he was nice enough to give us a 30% discount. But after all was said and done we still were unhappy for such a wait just to have cold/unsatisfactory food and service. Being a server myself I know that tips pay the bills so I made sure we left a appropriate tip. But I will not be going back on a Sunday again. read more

Best place for breakfast food-day or night-! My boyfriend and I went here on 04/01/2019 at midnight for some breakfast. Our server, Monica, was very polite and energetic despite it being a Monday night. We both ordered hot coco; and it was DELICIOUS! For only $2.19, it was huge and hot to the touch. Then, we also both ordered the pancake platter which consisted of 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of sausage or bacon, and hash browns. All for $8.99...the pancakes were sooo yummy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Did I mention that the food also came out within 10 minutes of us ordering? Do not go to this iHop. We waited for 30 minutes to get seated when there were many, many empty tables. When we finally were seated, our seats had leftover food on them from the people before us. We ordered our food and they were out of almost everything we wanted or their machines were broken. Our food came and everything was either burnt or not made at all how the menu described it. At checkout, you are in the same line of people trying to get seated and they didn't have any change. We waited 20 minutes just to check out. The food is pretty good, but the way things are run could use some help. My friend and I have made it a habit of eating here on sunday mornings. It helps if you come before the breakfast rush gets there. But even beating the crowd doesn't help how slow the food gets out to you. Multiple times the food has taken a while to come out after we have ordered, and it wasn't like the place was super busy. The staff have always been great, and you can't blame them for the food taking a while to be made. I haven't had a bad experience with the food yet, I have always gotten what i ordered and it tastes great. The portions for the food are huge. What seems like a pain is having to go up front to pay, because the person you have to pay with is also seating people. Been there about 4 times in last couple years. Pancakes: well-made, the cinna-stack jacks were real tasty, even plain pancakes are a delight. Servers: friendly, attentive, and efficient. Otherwise: - they do not bring you any warm syrup at this "pancake house", you get a variety of cold syrups that sit at the tables. - worst biscuits and gravy experience ever: very thin gravy (consistency of dairy creamer) and completely flavorless drizzled over dense dry biscuits that were toasted/fried in stale oil. very stingy with the gravy as well, maybe a tablespoon per biscuit. - hash browns were crisp but fried in same stale oil as above. scrambled eggs crumbly and cooked with stale oil. - most breakfasts do not come with toast. Good prices for big breakfast platters, but: - glass of orange juice: $3.00 - glass of chocolate milk: $2.60 ------------------------------------- A great place to go if you are specifically after pancakes or french toast creations with lots of gooey toppings. It was okay, but seemed to be short staffed. The waitress was nice but not very attentive. The biggest problem I had was that it was so filthy. Crumbs and little bits of paper and wrappers were on the tables and floors. Also, my bill was for $20.52 and I added a tip of $4.48 to equal $25.00. Very slow to get seated, but open tables. Several people walked out. Only 1 wait staff seems to be working and he is the only non Spanish. Orders not correct. So I don't normally go out to eat but I'm a sucker when it comes to a great coupon. My wife and I both have T-Mobile and one of the great benefits to having their service is that you get free stuff every Tuesday; it's called "T-Mobile Tuesdays." And this week's coupon included free "Wednesday Web cakes" with any purchase. The instructions on how to redeem and use the deal is very simple: you press the "redeem" button and it gives a countdown of 15 minutes to show the deal to your ihop server and they will mark it as free. There's no bar code to scan or anything else, just show the phone to your server and that's it. This IHOP absolutely did not want to honor the deal even though I did exactly everything as instructed. They seemed to get irritated when I showed the server/cashier the coupon and started mumbling in Spanish to the manager. They claimed that they only accept coupons in paper format. I mean really?! In today's paperless world?! Get with the program! The only reason why I came to this empty restaurant is bc my food was free. Maybe they were mad that my two kids were free too since kids eat free during certain hours and they wanted a bigger tip. Anyhow, eventually after standing at the cashier for a while reviewing the coupon with them they eventually gave in and gave me the deal. To think I would pay $10 with tax for a stack of pancakes with some icing on top is absurd but I'll go if it's free. I'm not coming back to this IHOP and this also reinforces why I don't go out to eat very often, it's bc of the bad experiences and poor service. Went here 6/16/2019 for a replacement "Chicken Fajita Omelet" to be comp'd by the manager due to a previously horrible experience. I also ordered hash-browns and turkey sausage. The omelet had NO filling. No cheese, peppers, or chicken on the inside. Outside was sprinkled with sparse chunks of chicken, cheese, and a few peppers. No Serrano pepper either! The hash-browns were completely dried out and overcooked. When I complained to the "manager" that actually prepared my omelet, he said, "That's how the omelet is made." The manager then insisted that next time, I inform the waitress that I want the chicken, cheese, and peppers on the inside...Huh? Since when does an omelet have no filing! Also, the "manager" must be blind because despite showing him there was no filling in the omelet--he insisted there was. So, all of us, waitresses, my Mom, and I were in "twilight zones" that day, where only the manager can see omelet fillings. The very first time I ordered this omelet, it was perfect; chicken through and through, cheese and peppers throughout, and I had a Serrano pepper. This time, horrible experience, again! IHOP was busy, I will say that. I waited 20 min to get a seat for 1. When my seat was ready, I was told it would be over there in a booth. "OK" was NOT shown to my seat. There were 2 booths where I was told to go. 1 of the booths had the sticker on the table stating not to sit there because of social distancing. The only other booth was the 1 that was NOT cleaned off, people must had just ate from it, I was told to sit there. So, I waited for someone to come so, I could tell them to clean the table. Thought about just leaving at that point. Another 10 min. someone finally came wanted to know if I wanted something to drink @ that point I told them the table is dirty. "oh, it is, isn't?" the woman came back & some what cleaned it. So much for going to a place that's suppose to be kept clean so, you don't get the virus! I won't be going back to this IHOP. After the table got some what clean, the woman came back about 10 min. later with coffee & water. If I get the virus, I know who to come after. The Gov. should be checking out this place or health dept. Maybe another 10 min after I got my coffee a woman came to take my order and I will say, the food did come out fast. I love going to IHOP, it's one of my family's favorite restaurants. My little boy likes to get the birthday cake pancakes, and my older son likes the steak and eggs, my husband always gets the stuffed French toast with apples on it, and I usually get the strawberry pancakes. If you've been to one IHOP you've been to them all, this one is no different. The service is friendly, and they will refill your coffee all day. Love this little breakfast place. My only complaint is that it's on a busy street, I wish it was a little more secluded. read more

Host, server and the whole team were right on! Order a custom omelet and they got it perfect. Server along with two other team members were attentive and perfectly timed. Will definitely revisit this location next time we are in town. (PS it's worth the drive just down from Kalamazoo Sheraton. The place smelled horrible like sewer gas. We ignored that and ordered. The server would not let my wife order a grilled cheese sandwich since it was only on the kids menu. Anyway, it was not a good experience. The food was not prepared properly, and was brought out at separate times. Also, I wanted hot chocolate and he said I couldn't get it.
