I went around 9pm with a friend. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant and we waited around 5 minutes to be greeted and the waitress who greeted us seemed very out of it. She sat us down and walked away... we waited a while for our waters, and then she took our order. Another couple came in right after us and they didn't get seated for a long period of time and when they did they didn't get to order for a long time the waitress just disappeared repeatedly. More people flowed in and our waitress couldn't get an order right for any table our food took forever and she gave us the wrong food and then the wrong ticket, 2 tables walked out due to no service and we waited 30 minutes plus for our ticket. Her pupils were blown and she was acting like she was on drugs.... and her underwear was hanging out of her pants the entire time we were there. I was bummed out food was over cooked barely warm and service was terrible. Perkins would be a great alternative to IHOP here in Rapid. read more

Well shoot I used to love ihop I don't go here a lot though. just took my wife here. The hostess was nice and after 40 minutes of waiting in a nearly empty restaurant we received our meal. When the food arrived the presentation was typical. I was ready for a feast and to eat my happy fat boy self a lotta cakes. This is where the reality excuse me I mean nightmare began. Went to go take a bite of my scrambled eggs and as Ramsey would say "it's raw" the bacon, sausage, eggs, and hash browns were all cold the pancakes just above room temp in the very center of the stack. We asked for a re-fire of eggs and hashbrowns. To receive them in 2 min nice and hot. I mean what? The wife had cupcake pancakes you definitely needed the icing just to get those cakes down, and they were still dryer than the Sahara desert. My wife and I ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy and mashed potatoes. The steak was frozen and then prepared. It tasted horrible. Mashed potatoes where instant. Gravy tasted awful. We waited approximately 45 minutes for our meal to be served. The wait staff was friendly however they were over tasked. Our server was also bussing tables and washing dishes. Management is doing a very poor job managing their wait staff and personnel resources. The wait staff did an awesome job even though there was a severe short fall of personnel. My wife and I ate at IHOP last night we ordered 4 strips of bacon and 3 buttermilk pan cakes each the bill came to 25 dollars in my opinion that is way too much not to mention we asked for the bacon to be cooked on the chewy side and it came back so over cooked it shattered in my mouth when I bit into it. Have been here a few times and can comfortably say this is the worst dining experience in Rapid City SD. The food is decent enough, and menu is affordably priced. The reason this place is so bad is the customer service is ATROCIOUS. You walk in, and can expect to wait 5 minutes before you are even greeted, let alone seated. Expect a 15+ minute to be seated, regardless of the time you go. Half of the tables will be empty or needing to be cleaned. Expect at least 30 minutes for your food, and keep your fingers crossed your order isn't messed up. It's unfortunate since the food isn't bad, but until management is replaced or this place gets its act together, I recommend avoiding this establishment. read more

My family and I are visiting our sister stationed here & we wanted a place to eat! We stopped here and I understand we had a group of 10! But to have 4 groups of 4 ppl go before us is just ridiculous! With all those groups you let thru you could have made our table! I've been going to this particular IHOP, occasionally, for years. My problem isn't with the food, which I usually find quite good, it's with the wait time....to get seated, get served, and to pay. They seem to have a chronic problem with staffing. They even got rid of the station near the entrance where you were greeted & seated, and where you paid for your meal. Now you have to stand in the lobby and wait to be seen in order to be seated, and after your meal wait for the server to bring you your change/receipt. It's not at all unusual to go in and see only one server, even with four or five tables occupied. The most recent time I stood in the lobby (in plain sight) waiting to be seated for perhaps three minutes. There were literally NO employees to be seen! So, I went to Perkins, which I'll do more often now. read more

I went with a friend I have not seen in a long time. We were seated relatively quick. We told the waitress we would need a few minutes to decide what we wanted. When we got the food, on of our dishes had hair in it. I asked if I could get another one and asked he to pack it up to go because I had lost my appetite. She did so. After we had been sitting there for about 1/2 hour, she brought the bill. Then about 30 minutes later, she come back and asked if we could go ahead a pay because her turn over time was going through the roof. My friend and I were appalled at the rudeness. I paid promptly and we were finishing up our coffee and the waitress come and asked if she could start her vacuuming. We told her sure. I have never been so rudely run off in all my life. This was not my first unfortunate experience at this IHOP. Cleanliness has been a concern off and on (kitchen and bathroom) and I wanted a salad one time but was told they don't have the ingredients. My friend and I and his 3 year old daughter waited for 10 minutes to be seated. Problem was we never got seated we were told that they were closed due to cleaning after we just saw them sit a 4 person group into a booth. Absolutely awful!! Filthy! The restaurant area was dirty but the restrooms were horrid! My son refused to eat after seeing the restrooms. I found hair in my food. Amazed at how the staff can operate this place during the virus pandemic. I ordered an omelette and a split decision breakfast. I arrived to be told there was a delay in cooking with about 5 to go orders sitting unattended. They brought out two bags for someone named "dre". We had to stay an extra night in Rapid City because of weather. So before getting back on the road we came to this IHOP for breakfast. We got great service and loved our waitress. The food came quickly and was exactly as we ordered. I watched the other servers and their demeanors as they served folks as the restaurant got busier and busier and I loved that they were kind, attentive and they kept smiling! Our waitress was incredibly nice and humorous! The only issue I had with iHop was how long it took for our food to be served. My family and I were waiting nearly 30-40 minutes for our food to come to our table. With that being said, it was well worth the wait!!! I order eggs over easy and the egg whites were runny and under cooked when we finally received our order. I told the server that the eggs were not completely cooked who immediately replied "that's what you order and that's how we make 'em". I then googled over easy eggs on my phone and showed her that the egg whites should be cooked. I didn't eat my breakfast and was charged for my meal. The staff was polite and attentive for the most part, one of the waitresses seemed a little annoyed w. Me cause i kept asking for things. Another one was very attentive and i liked that she kept my water filled etc. Even tho i was only drinking coffee and using the internet @ the time. Thats why when i am @ home i rarely eat out. I stopped at this IHOP because I had a gift card and everything looked clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad, but when it came it was a salad with chicken in it. I had to ask for the Cesar's dressing for my not Cesar salad. The salad was actually very good in spite of the fact it wasn't what I ordered. We came with some misgivings after reading the other yelp reviews, but it was close to our hotel and we wanted breakfast. We were pleasantly pleased to get good service from clean servers with a cheerful attitude. The food was good, typical IHOP, and was brought out fairly quickly. Had a worst experience at this and two other ihops (another was casper, wy and then greeley, co). Being similar experiences at these places, I can only think that it is their corporate policy and not individual at specific stores. They write on the counter to sit and wait until someone comes to attend. We were sitting in the waiting area and there is a diverse group of customers waiting to be seated, after us came few white customers (these were the last to enter) and the attendant comes out quickly to pick them and takes them to tables while other people had been waiting for at least 20 minutes to be seated. To our absolute surprise we and other customers (probably Hispanic family, a native American family, and an African American family) were totally annoyed with this attitude. Since ihop is everywhere franchise I do not think that this a once in a while thing and being the fact that it happened in three different states, it is only plausible that ihop's corporate policy is to discriminate racially against non-white skin customer. Highly disappointed. They should remove 'I' for international and call themselves 'wohop' = white only house of pancake as they are not a welcome restaurants for non-whites! I am determined to never ever go to 'ihop = wohop' and request all the non-whites to boycott them as well and same to any sensible whites who think that the discrimination must stop 100%. read more
