To Begin: 0 stars If I'm being honest I don't even want to write this review because of how bad this place sucks... No matter every time I go to IHOP I am always waiting for food that shouldn't take an hour long, on top of that the customer service are illiterate human beings and their manager is no better. To establish some insight...... no matter the time of day you enter this IHOP, you will NOT have a good experience nor will you be satisfied. It quickly became comical due to the horrendous staff and quality of service. When I placed my online order at 12, it said it wouldn't be ready until 1pm... I only ordered pancakes and hash browns. To me that personally shouldn't take an hour because anytime I walk into an IHOP there's only two tables anyways. When I tried calling them it went straight to voicemail. To give my two sense of advice: - Find new management - Teach your staff how to un forward phones - Hire some cooks that know how to make pancakes in 10 minutes... - Fix your staffs attitude. And teach them how to talk to customers and always have a fucking smile on your face... You never know who you're going to piss off that day. - And investing into better heating lamps in your kitchen while you let all of your orders sit and become cold. Today was probably the worst experience I have had in an IHOP. I went in expecting slightly inattentive service and mediocre food. But basically after our waitress got our orders she abandoned us, and thank god the table next to us had a better waiter and he ended up taking care of us. The food they gave us today was in unbelievably small portions. Like tiny. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have to travel to NB for better quality and a cleaner environment, because every time I come to this location, I get sick. I understand this is a college town and no one really cares much about their job here, but I shouldn't have to have an upset stomach the last 3 times I've came. Management had an attitude when my husband told them my food was cold and to take it back. They messed up his order and when he asked them to fix it, they gave what looked like left over food. It's so dirty in this restaurant that I refuse to even drink anything from here. Highly disappointed. NB location is better, the last few times we've been going. I actually went here twice on this trip to Texas. The first visit was meh, there was nothing super special about the place. Food was okay I guess. The lady that served us was crabby and didn't treat us very nice. Service was pretty slow too. All in all, it was a meh experience. The second time we came to IHOP was worse. Two days after our first visit we came back because we weren't in the mood for anything like McDonald's. We sat down and the floor was sticky and disgusting pretty much anywhere you went. Then the crabby waitress who served us last time was back for us again, and yes, she was still crabby and rude. They ended up running out of a bunch of food items and the service was super slow again. Then my dad talked about something; both times we visited IHOP, he went to the bathroom and the stall next to him was "disgusting and trash was everywhere" and the time we came back he said it was left exactly the way it was since we last visited. That is disgusting. I really don't know how I feel about this place: the food is basic, service is slow, and the waiters and waitresses are awfully rude. And not just the waitress that served us, I heard from behind me this waitress talking to a customer. She said, "Do you really want to buy that, because by the looks of you ya shouldn't be eating that much." How did I know my buddy Ardie had already reviewed this place? Apparently, I'm way behind in the count on reviews in San Marcos. The whole little family made the trip to the DPS DL office this morning. After the fun, we hit one of the few places in SM that serves breakfast. If you got some advice for me, send me some reviews. Our first impression came when we were checking out the menu. My wife's menu was filthy. Think bad cold meets fried chicken out of the fryer rubbed all over the pages. I actually walked back to the front and switched it out myself. My wife's lite harvest grain and nut cakes with eggs was tasty according to her. My spinach and mushroom omelette was fair. It needed more mushrooms and a tad less hollandaise poured over the top. Rooster's kiddo pancake platter hit the spot with him. If I had to really count the times I visit any IHOP in a calendar year; the number would be really small. Maybe 3ish? Here's my problems in recent visits: They 86'd my favorite dish on the entire menu. The German lemon-butter crepes were to die for. I also notice they no longer keep the syrup in a hot well and deliver it with the meal. The Chicken Fajita Omelette needs some rethinking. I've never ordered the entree as it just seems weird to have chicken wrapped inside eggs. They also waste condiments. Do I really need a new teaspoon and new straw every time I need a tea refill? I counted 5 straws and teaspoons on the table at the end of the meal. Its their money I guess. Our server was a seasoned veteran of the industry and was spot on. I'm gonna go 3 stars on this one as I know its not the best; but they deserve some credit for what they do well. read more

Libby and the Manager are amazing! Service is good. I asked for poached(Benedict's) egg at 5am and the chef even serve me the egg. The poached egg is a must try! Wasn't the best place I have visited. I was hoping for more customer service. With our server only having 3 tables she was pretty distant but my drink was never empty and either was my boyfriends. We asked for hot syrup while a table of seven was paying out so I wasn't too surprised when we didn't get it. Although there was a lot of people waiting in the front for someone to take care of them. Do not visit this ihop from 10pm until after at least 5 am. They are constantly packed but never have more than 1 server working. It always takes 20 minutes to even be sat. 10 more to be greeted at the table. And 20 more for anyone to take your order. Trust me. You could drive to Austin and finish eating before you would've have food at this location. I've given this place more chances than I should have. None of the staff helps each other. The waiters often even forget what you had, if you've ordered of if they've talked to you. Update: I've been here for over an hour and still don't have food. read more

The eggs were raw, the hash browns tasted like stale dust, and the chicken patties were better in school lunches then here. I highly recommend you don't go here. Used to work there and management was extremely poor. Like many restaurants, workers are forced to work extra hours by their managers and are griped at constantly. Customers were never a problem for me, but this manager was. It was an uncomfortable environment and management takes your kindness for granted. I recommend working someplace else for those who are thinking of applying to this place. Manager didn't even pay one of the old employees their last check and yelled at many of my coworkers. Manager also disappears for long amounts of time and sometimes ignores when we need help. That's all I have to say. Oh also their bathrooms are a 2/10. When we finally got seated the waitress was pleasant but more interested in talking with a single man than waiting on customers. We ordered 2x2x2 - nothing fancy - the eggs were cold, the bacon had been swimming in grease for a day and the pancakes were old and cold. I eat here often because my mother loves to IHOP and we eat here when she visits. The food is usually pretty good but oh my goodness, the service is a completely different story. The hostess in the morning is extremely rude and talks negatively about other employees and badmouths customers when they get seated. Extremely unprofessional and makes me want to walkout. I waited close to ten minutes before anyone came to greet me in the lobby, and I was the only one there. It was 30 minutes passed the time it was supposed to be ready for pick up. It was only two items: one kid's meal and one breakfast sampler. The kid's meal did not come with everything it was supposed to like the icing for the pancakes or sprinkles. They replaced the icing with whipped cream and it had a weird texture. Everything was barely warm. Both my boyfriend and I got sick after eating our food and were up all night. Multiple times I have ordered online and it will give me a time to be there. I get there around 10 minutes after to give them some time, and it's still another 20-30 that I've had to sit in my car. The food is usually good so that's why I come back. Today I ordered a sampler with 6 bacon, 2 CHOC CHIP BUTTERMILK, and hash browns. The initial experience with the hostess stand is awful. The employees are not customer service oriented and their physical demeanor demonstrated that. Our server Sean was great but our food was cold when it was served. This location seems to always be short staffed and the management team is horrible. Went to this location with my wife and 3 kids. The youngest being 8. Only 3 other tables were occupied and it took at least 5 minutes for the waitress/hostess to even acknowledge us. The cook actually had to come out wipe down a table and motion for us to take the booth. Waited over 20 minutes for one of the 2 girls there to simply come to the table. They knew we were there as there weren't even 10 other people in the place. Too busy talking on the phone and joking with each other. We just walked out and went to DQ. We got here on a weekday night around 10:30. We were sat down by a woman who didn't seem to care about her job at all/ didn't take it seriously. When she seated us, she told us she would be back with menus. She never came back to check on us once. We finally got a waiter who was nice, but seemed to busy with other families to be concerned with us. I'm not sure if he was sucking up to them to get the better tip, but we didn't leave any tip for him. We only got drinks, refills and our orders in with that waiter. We waited an HOUR AND A HALF for our food to come out, only to have our waiter tell us that he didn't know when our food was coming out and the people on grill kept ducking the question. We asked to speak with management, but we left out of disgust and impatient-ness. No tip or paying of the check. This restaurant needs more people staffed ESPECIALLY at night. I came in late tonight as I do most nights I go to IHOP because I'm an insomniac and I tend to shop and do things at strange hours like 3am because I'm not really much of a "people person". Wow, had *I* picked a bad night/time to go to IHOP! It had completely slipped my mind that it was a weekend night, and that I should expect the drunk bar crowd. I didn't think they'd all be like "Party at IHOP!" at around 4am. I figured they would have kind of dissipated by then. They had not. I came in to a crowd of loud, drunk people congregating by the register. One of which was a very drunk man who was proclaiming VERY loudly about his desire to pee on women. Oh yeah buddy, that really stimulates MY appetite and makes me want to come in and eat! (moron) I finally get seated, and the staff *tries* to accommodate my desire to find a place in the corner where I can just eat, and read/study. I had brought my book with me to read, as I do many nights I go to IHOP, since it has good lighting, and someone bringing me unlimited coffee. There was NO way I was studying tonight. It was so loud, I couldn't hear myself think. If you're a grad student trying to read and summarize half of a book by next week, IHOP on a weekend night might not be the best place to get that accomplished. I get food, but no silverware. My orange juice but no coffee.(I ordered both) Then I get my coffee, but no creamer. I had to stop the waitress at *least* 4 times before I actually started enjoying my meal once it was brought to me. My food however, was delicious. My order was prepared perfectly. Hot, my eggs were done to the right consistency that I ordered, my coffee was hot, my orange juice was cold, and everything tasted great. The atmosphere though could definitely use some improvement. Not everyone who goes to IHOP on a weekend night is drunk or looking to hang out around a bunch of loud, drunk people. I think IHOP should have a better control on this situation. Oh, but NO! They ENCOURAGE the chaos and loud, boisterous activity. Why? Because they come out banging a milkshake mixer with a spoon to a rhythm that encourages the whole restaurant to start clapping along! They come out and start singing Happy Birthday to the guy at the table across from me. Then, someone had to "one up" THAT noise with their own loud, screeching "WOOOO!!!!" at the top of her lungs in regards to her friend's birthday song. Is this a restaurant or a zoo? I'm confused. Ordered through DoorDash because I have been feeling sick and didn't want to risk anythin. So I placed the order at 3am dasher arrived around 3:22am and waited for a good 57 minutes I called the restaurant 9 times and no answer, he spoke to some and he said the order should be out I didn't get my food until almost 6:58am and I live less than 7 minutes away from ihop and had already paid $45.72 and would only get $1.81 back if I cancelled. It's your basic IHOP. Expected food, expected hours, expected service. Nothing really remarkable about this location, except the occasional train that passes by the edge of the parking lot and shakes things up. It's by far the better of the two "pancake houses" in San Marcos. read more
