I am updating my review after visiting this particular restaurant multiple times. Each time I have gone recently their air conditioning is barely working and apparently it seems like they're not planning to fix it! In the summer, it is very uncomfortable. Sometimes the service is good with a particular waitress. But it seems like they always have new people, and this last time I was in almost all the tables were dirty in the area that they were serving in. The food is generally fine and consistent, but their prices are outrageous. With tip I paid almost $49 for two breakfasts and one beverage. In contrast, my husband and I visited First Watch and with tip paid $28. Most likely I will not be visiting again, the only reason I've gone back is because my oldest granddaughter lives nearby and she needs me there for our monthly dinner. read more

Wow... what can I say nice about this place? Um... The food was ok, I guess... and was at least what I ordered. Ok, to be fair, IHOP food is almost never something to write home about. But, some days it has more flavour than others. Can't even explain why. Maybe one of the other readers can but I cannot. Why so few stars... that is simple. The restaurant was a mess to begin with. The guy seating us quickly wiped off a table and got us in seats as quickly and politely as he could (this gained them the 2 stars vs 1). As he walked over to inform the waitress that we had been seated in her section she decided to argue with him. Then went back to standing in the PACK of wait staff that was just standing and not assisting tables. After a few minutes, she walked over while texting on her phone. And took our order. Very simple off-of-the-menu items with an Orange Juice and a Coffee. 10 minutes later OJ and a coffee cup showed up. (No coffee in the cup). She left to get the coffee carafe (assuming here) and showed back up with our food 10 minutes later. Indicated that I still didn't have coffee and got an eye roll. At this point, I am angry and want to pay the bill and leave. Food is here but no toppings, sauces, etc... and no coffee! And of course, I am burdening this waitress by asking her to do her job. Who instead of getting me coffee, walked over to talk with the other waitstaff who was standing in a clump again. I am watching tables flag people down to get stuff. The poor kid who was running the front desk had been cleaning a table nearby and quickly ran to get the coffee and hot sauce for us. We ate quickly... and as soon as done paid the bill with a 2-cent tip... then walked over and in front of the waitress pushed a $10 bill into the hand of the kid that sat us and thanked him for taking care of us. On the way out I could hear our waitress comment on how rude we were. Doubt she will last long in the service industry. Is this a bad experience at a restaurant... well yes. Is this the restaurant's fault? Yes, I believe it is. During this time I did not see a member of management at all. I do not know the reason... but there was no coaching as to how to treat customers and no follow-through. This is not the first time that this location has let me down. It will however be the last. IHOP is IHOP, so you can generally assume what you're getting in to before you go. This location is moderately clean, but generally understaffed, which is pretty common anymore. It also smells a little weird, sewer gas and grease traps maybe? I like this location for my one time a year chicken fried steak and eggs calorie extravaganza. It's always crispy and delicious, with great gravy and perfect eggs. Service can vary, but usually good. Avoid this IHOP location at all costs. When my group first walked in, it smelled like a combination of sewer and bleach, which is a food safety violation. The health department needs to shut this place down. The inside appears to not have been updated or maintained in over 20 years. On the other hand, the food was alright. It took a long time to get drinks and food even though it was not busy. Went here for breakfast today and I was really surprised. I never want IHOP and never crave it but had been recently. So I went with my mom during the week and not only was our meal delicious, but our server was fantastic. Our server was attentive, quick, and did an excellent job. The food took a little longer to be ready then we expected considering how slow the restaurant was, so that would be our only minor complaint. The food itself was definitely worth the wait, as we went with the strawberry cheesecake waffle combo. The waffle was crispy and fluffy. The eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns were also cooked perfectly. I like IHOP occasionally for my "comfort food fix", and this location has never disappointed. The servers are well trained, friendly, and informative, and the food comes out very quickly. I love the variety in their menu, but I like to keep things simple with eggs and pancakes mostly. The employees are also extremely accommodating when requesting items like crispy hash browns, and egg beaters. There are no frills here, but the restaurant is always clean, and the tables are consistently well stocked with supplies including four different varieties of syrup. Came here on Christmas, worst mistake. It was not busy AT ALL! We sat for at least 30 mins tables around us never got cleaned they were filthy. When the waitress brought drinks, my mug was very sticky on the handle and when I asked for another she stated "we don't have any clean mugs can I bring u a smaller one". I agreed and the next one she brought me had lipstick on it! My husband and I requested to cancel our order figuring that the tables and cups were dirty so the plates would be as well. Stopped in for the first time here at this location and Shawnee. The atmosphere was mediocre. The waitress was friendly. However, I ordered that Colorado omelette with a three stack of pancakes. The meat taste like it was left over and sat out in the open cooler for three days. The pancakes fell apart, and the prices were totally outrageous. My spouse ordered the steak tip breakfast with hashbrowns and a stack of cakes. He ordered one extra egg and I got a tea and he got a coffee. When we received our ticket we about passed out. Food is great. This location in particular always seems understaffed. The service is always mediocre at best. Tonight we were waited on by some kid. Who was very poorly trained may I add. Normally, I am not the type of person to complain about service unless it gets to a certain point. The waitress that sat us took our drink order, and said someone would be right with us. It took over ten minutes for anyone to come by and get our order. Then it took another 30 minutes to get our food out. It was 10pm. IHOP at it's best is decent breakfast food. Nothing fancy or unique but it gets the job done. This location is a claustrophobes mild nightmare. There is no airflow in there and there just isn't enough room for the traffic they try to allow flow through. I avoid this location, except for carry out when a cheap omelette that will keep me full for 10 hours sounds good. Not to mention the omelettes come with pancakes.
