Went there Aug 10 2021. We were seated within minutes, a waiter came over right away with menus & to take our drink order. A waitress who happened to be walking by who wasnt our server offered to take a few dirty dishes away for us, what a team player! Our server was pleasant, attentive & efficient and our food was delicious. Nobody seemed stressed or overwhelmed considering the place was busy. Kudo's to the management, staff & cooks. I am a HUGE fan of IHOP, and I always frequented the one in Harvard Square. I've been to this one a few times... The service is variable.. The second time I came here, the server disappeared for a long time, didn't ask me how the food was, and was very inefficient. I went here again today for breakfast, and I found a long hair embedded in my scrambled eggs. They were SO busy and the servers were rushing around like crazy so I didn't even bother to send it back. Last weekend we tried here at 10:30 but it was too crowded so we opted to come here around 8:00 instead. No wait this time. If you want a classier place then I recommend Vic's down the road. Our first encounter at 10:30 had a rough crowd. 8:00 was fine. Our waitress wasn't that great. I could see her eating toast in the kitchen area from where we were sitting. I had to ask another waitress for ketchup. Our food was good except for our eggs. I asked for over medium and they came out very much over easy with some still runny whites. Ew. Lol. It was a busy day. However, I managed to get a seat with minimal waiting. I sat down and was immediately seen by waitress. Put in my order and received it quickly. I was not impressed with the order. It wasn't cooked right or dressed properly ie skimpy on the toppings. After I finished, I had to wait a good amount of time. They were fairly packed so I have no idea why they waited on getting me out of there? While waiting, I noticed a large wet spot on the ceiling. It was likely from a drip and it was centered over a different table. I also found what I'm 90% sure was a mouse droppings on the table. It was wiped down when I first sat so this means the wipe was probably dirty. So, where did it come from? Kitchen? Back area? Another table? Paid and left. Won't go back. read more

Ready, set TERRIBLE! This was the single worst restaurant experience we ever had! My buddy and I walk in to get some late night eats. A good ten minutes go by before we are seated. Another ten minutes or so go by before we place orders for drinks and food. Almost forty minutes go by before our "waitress" (whom to this point we haven't met) came over and brought us our food. She took our drink refills FINALLY. Then within 15 minutes she brought us our check. When another member of this fantasy establishment came over to collect the check, I asked to speak to the manager. A few months ago we went to Tewksbury IHOP and upon entering there was a horrendous stench. My friend and I were former food service employees back in the day of our youth and we both looked at each other and said eww, grease trap! As in, the grease trap needed to be tended to, drained, cleaned etc. Not the description of the restaurant! Something else happened on that trip to IHOP that triggered me to complain to corporate HQ. I can't quite remember. Anyways, I got a reply stating that the smell was some sort of adhesive used to fix the roof. YEAH RIGHT! We are not idiots. This didn't stop us from returning several times after as we felt that we always got a consistent breakfast style meal. That is what is important, knowing what to expect when you go to IHOP. That stench and idiotic explanation wasn't a deal breaker for us. Fast forward to last night. The chain of consistency was broken, big time. What I got was Hot Chocolate that tasted funny. It wasn't good at all. I could not pin point the issue, maybe the hot water was stagnant? How can a cup of hot water at IHOP be stagnant though? And how can a cup of Hot Chocolate be messed up? The whipped cream? Well, it didn't taste sour so I don't know. Whatever it was, it was certainly too disgusting to drink. So I sent it back. A mystery for sure. The scrambled eggs were wayyyy tooooo undercooked. They had a creamy consistency that I am not used to and I do not like. Additionally, they had a buttery taste that was strange to me as I have NEVER experienced scrambled eggs prepared like this before at IHOP. How can you screw up scrambled eggs? I don't want a cook that puts a personal flair on these eggs, I want consistency. The place was empty. At the time of us being served, there was only one other table of two old guys. I would really like to review the quality of food and service in this particular IHOP... but I can't. We stopped in there today at around 1:45PM, and were seated right away. The place didn't look too busy, and we spotted a few waitresses making their rounds. None of them stopped at our table or acknowledged that we had been seated in that section. I counted no less than 4 wait staff working in this one area of about 15 tables. 10, and then 15 minutes passed and still nobody stopped at our table. Other tables with patrons who came in during this time were being tended to, yet we were not. Finally, when people who were seated long after we were, at a table right next to us, were approached for their order, we got up and left. I don't know where the communication breakdown happened in that establishment, but all of the waitresses walked by enough times that they should have noticed the people at the table with their menus sitting folded a good 10-15 minutes later. A good wait staff would check in and see if someone at another table had been helped yet, which is easy to notice if you don't even see drink glasses on the table. It's IHOP. I don't expect 5 star food or 5 star service. I go there because I want to have eggs, pancakes, bacon, and coffee. I've been to the ones in Saugus, Peabody, Danvers (when it was still there), Kenmore Sq. in Boston (also gone now), and so on over the years, and never had a complaint. I went on New Years 2014 and the waitress stole our money. We paid $45 dollars then she left and came back and said we only have her $25. We where nice enough to not say anything but it was NEW YEARS how do you steal from a family with 3 kids! She should have "checked" the money before she left the table. I'm really not one to leave negative reviews, but I've been here twice and both times the experience has been AWFUL. I won't be back a third time... Both times, it seemed like there was a single waitress covering the entire restaurant. This time it was Saturday at 6:30pm, so it was kind of ridiculous. She was running around trying to help everyone, but there's no way she could keep up. The booth next to me eventually walked over and asked if they forgot about her. When I was done I spent about 15 minutes before waiting to pay. I finally had to walk into the kitchen before anyone even noticed me. Something is wrong with their soda fountain, where it tastes like there is Drano in your soda. I took one sip and spat it out. I'm going to contact the Board of Health, because the single waitress running the whole place seemed unfazed when I told her that it tasted as if it had been poisoned. Let's be real, the food here is edible, and, if you get breakfast, it might even taste good. It's not a location specific thing. The recipes are pre-fab, nothing gourmet it going on. And that's okay if you set your expectations appropriately. Service at this location is...spotty. Prepare to eat what they bring you, not necessarily what you ask for (pancakes vs. french toast). Don't be surprised if you have to ask for your drinks, your bill, or silverware more than once. For the love of all that is good though, don't shout your complaints. We all know it's an IHOP, we all know that at least one waiter/waitress is trying really hard on his/her first day. I don't care if you were accidentally charged for mushrooms you didn't order. I'm not surprised it happened though. Yesterday, we had a decent to good experience, minus the horrible clientel. It all started when we entered the doors of the establishment, the aroma of Coffee beans, syrup, and my dear grandparents house pleasantly entered my nose. It was a lovingly familiar smell that I fondly look back upon from childhood. A lovely hostess greeted my companions and I. I can't remember her name but she was nothing but kind to us as she showed us to our table. As my eyes scanned the menu I was pleased at the extensive selection of breakfast items. It had everything from unique pancake slider sandwiches to BBQ omelettes. I went with the Steak Omelette and salsa with a side of pancakes and a coffee. I like Steak. No, I love steak. The coffee was slightly above average but that was no bother as it did its job in prepping me for the meal I was awaiting by finally waking me up. As our food arrived I couldn't help but lick my lips as the meal was presented exactly as the picture displayed. What a pleasant surprise! If she was to rate/review this place, she'd rate it a 0. She was not happy. Also, I suggest you work on your eggs because I can make better eggs myself. (No offense.) I visited this place once for brunch after a long morning of shopping at the nearby big box stores. I have to admit that the experience was pretty nice and filling even if it was fattening with all the pancakes, bacon, and sausages. Ordered smokehouse pancakes, or something like that. Basically a combo with pancakes, eggs, sausage, and hashbrown. Drove out to get my order, paid, and when I got home, NO PANCAKES!!!! It's been a while since I'm going to IHOP on Route 38 but when I had gone the food has was good. The service was normal but the wait time was pretty extensive. We normally try to find a place for breakfast on Sunday mornings and of course this is the busiest day of the week. I don't mind waiting for good service and food. On a Sunday morning you may have to wait 35 minutes to to an hour and a half wait not my favorite thing. read more

Amazing. I come to this location VERY often, and I can say that it is consistently satisfactory, clean, and just about what you'd expect from an IHOP. The staff tends to be very pleasant, and the atmosphere is nice. Usually pretty busy, so make sure to call ahead and put your name down during the busiest hours. The food is almost always perfect, although I usually stick to pancakes and burgers. I've never been disappointed by the food here; it's by far my favorite brunch place. read more

IHOP. Where do I start..... First, its a great place to eat if your drunk or want pancakes at 4:30AM. Other than that, this place isn't great. The last time I went here with my pregnant wife and son, we were very hungry, and wanted to eat some good food. Unfortunately, everything we ate that night didn't taste so great. I had the pancake platter. I wasn't very warm and the pancakes seemed overcooked. My wife just had a side of hash browns and some vanilla ice cream, but they couldn't even get that right! they covered all the ice cream with whipped cream, so we couldn't tell what it was on bottom at first, after we took a bite, we realized it was chocolate. When I asked the waitress if i could return the ice cream, she insisted that I indeed ordered chocolate and said I already took a bite out of the ice cream before taking it away. geez, what happened to ihop???? read more

I was traveling from Florida and was exhausted and decided to make a pit stop at the IHOP off the highway in Tewksbury. It was a Thursday later in the afternoon so tables were easily available. We were quickly greeted and seated and our server was a young lady by the name of Amanda. The waitress was attentive to our needs, brought everything out in a quick fashion and the food was exactly as ordered. The facility was clean and the restrooms were also clean which I also a plus because sometimes these things are overlooked. I highly recommend IHOP. read more
