Horribly slow service. I know January 1st is always a bad day to go out and eat. I thought that maybe IHOP has changed but sadly no. So long story short... I temporarily lost my mind earlier this evening and thought it would be a good idea to go to IHOP. The young hostess kept insisting that our party of eight sit in a booth. Had to tell her several times to put us at a table, finally she relented. Our sever got us drinks fast and althought the place was half empty, we got our food 45 minutes later, all cold. By that time every one was starving so instead of complaining we choked down the wretched fare. Some random Valley weirdo was drinking syrup right out of the bottles behind us which prompted a flurry of iPhone photography. Luckily the waitress diplomatically told him that she needed the syrups for refilling, she never brought them back out for him. Me and my family was just at this Ihop in Wasilla Alaska restaurant the service was average in the beginning, but my problem is when we're waiting, and waiting and waiting, we see folks come and go and were waiting, we asked the waitress what was the hold up she says our order is coming up which from the wait they had to go kill a cow or slaughter a hog. So we packed up and left, I know where I will never eat again and I will tell all my family and friends. Or maybe it was a black thing oh well before I ever eat there again hell will freeze over. There must have been a problem when we had dinner. It took about 50 minutes to get our food. When we left l saw a sign on the door that said there will be about a 45 minute wait for food. The food was not very good. I had the country fried steak and eggs. It came with pancakes. The pancakes were cold and tough. A place that calls themselves International House of Pancakes should be able to make pancakes that are at least better than those pancakes. They did give us a 15% discount but I still fell like I got ripped off. I will not be returning anytime soon. read more

ihop is my go to anytime I want some easy cheaper food. They make GREAT food, but the staff is a little iffy. I go all the time.

I came here when I visited Alaska a couple of weeks ago. I haven't been to ihop in years so I was hoping my experience here in a whole different state wouldn't be a disaster. Thank goodness I was wrong. The waitress was nice, fast service, clean tables. I had the tres leches pancakes, I was a bit skeptical about it because why would you have them be pancakes? It would be a milky mess but I found it pretty tasty. Made me full too. Also, shoutout to Kiki, that women really made my day and she knows how to make customers happy. This was one of the worst breakfast experiences in a long time. The wait to be seated was long. Apparently they were short of help. The service was slow and the food was mediocre. The bacon was almost raw, the potatoes tasted like they were done in rancid oil. Then it took forever to get the check. Too bad there are no Waffle Houses around this area. read more

I am wavering between a 2 or a 3. The place was packed but they were only using one side of the restaurant. So there was an empty half and a half completely filled with every type of clientele imaginable, including plenty of screaming babies. Two waitresses were so busy with about ten tables each that they were shouting "be right there!" over the top of everyone. It was like a very noisy, crowded bar with kids. The waitress we had was so tired when she took our order she sat right down at the table with us. She played it off as being friendly and goofy but she was my age, so I knew she was dead tired. Without me asking she assured me that even though they were busy, "the kitchen is cranking out the food fast!" As promised, we got our food in a timely manner and it was very good. The blueberry pancakes were fantastic as was the breakfast sandwich my daughter got. It was huge and packed with ham and the onion rings she got as a side were fantastic! The children's meals are pretty run of the mill but free (kids eat free in the evening hours with the usual limitations). The food I could see other people getting looked good, as well. I left a good tip but told the cashier we wouldn't be back - too noisy and crowded. She nodded in agreement. Man, I feel sorry for anyone that works there. read more

I really enjoy this place! It has been in Wasilla for a long time and it wasn't until a few months ago that I actually ate there. I was so pleasantly surprised. I strongly recommend one of the skillets. It had big chunks of green pepper, onion and mushrooms. Not tiny little diced pieces that are so over cooked that they have no flavor. We've been here a lot actually over the past few months. The staff is so unbelievably nice, which is honestly, probably 75% of the reason we continue to come back. I had a lunch item once, can't even remember what it was, I think a hot sandwich, but that was a little underwhelming. My husband also had a lunch item that he wasn't thrilled about.
