I was exploring Alderwood Mall for the first time when the bold Sushi Burrito signs in the food court immediately caught my attention. The two workers on shift warmly greeted me and were incredibly enthusiastic about answering all my questions. As a lifelong eel lover, I decided to go off-menu and create my own sushi burrito with eel, shrimp tempura, seaweed, corn, and cucumber. The combination was fantastic--the umami sauce coating the eel, crunchiness of the shrimp tempura, and fresh cold thinly sliced cucumber and corn worked surprisingly well together. Everything tasted fresh, and I was genuinely impressed by how much flavor and texture was packed into one burrito. The friendly service made the experience even better, and this was such an unexpected find during my first visit to Alderwood Mall! You can pick a sushi burrito or a bowl but I recommend the burrito, it's fun to eat! You can build your own, or they have a menu you can pick from. Really generous portion. I tried the salmon sushi burrito and the flavor profiles were extremely balanced. There wasn't any over compensation of added toppings and it was a lot of fish. It wasn't that busy at IJ Sushi Burrito on Saturday around lunchtime. There was two other people ahead of me, but the line went by fast. I ordered the Dancing Salmon (poké salmon, avocado, green leaf lettuce, masago, cucumber, onion crisp, and spicy mayo), which they conveniently had split in half. Decent sushi bowl with lots of toppings, though for the price I wish they gave more fish. I got the spicy salmon which had a nice kick with its creamy sauce, and all the veggies I got were fresh. However, the scoop of crab was $3 extra, and they advertise it as "snow crab" but it was clearly imitation crab. Sigh I should've checked recent reviews for this place before checking it out, but was needing food asap while at Alderwood Mall and my daughter was begging for sushi/ sashimi so I just did a quick glance to see if the fish looked fresh and ordered, haha. I got a poke salad bowl with one scoop of protein in the bowl and one scoop of protein on the side (my daughter likes her fish w/o sauce). The size of the scoops was pretty standard, but other than that, portion size for everything else was pretty little. My bowl was tiny and seemed like half the size of bowls you get elsewhere, and the price was more! They also didn't have many sauce (I think only 2?) or toppings options. The only reason I didn't completely regret going here was that all the ingredients seemed pretty fresh and I felt good eating something healthy (compared to mostly everything else in the food court). Just sad I spent $22 for not very much food. I guess I will continue to avoid mall food courts if I can from now on ;) read more

So it is inside the mall in the food court. I guess the mall is always trying to raise the level with dining choices. So it is charged by what you add on from the burrito, bowl, or salad option. Then you pay additional for the protein(s) you add onto it. Each. At least the scoop size is good. I'd compare it to a medium to large sized ice cream scoop. Choices from tuna, salmon, spicy versions, and crab salad. The toppings are unlimited except for the avocado. Sorry folks...but it appears there is no brown rice option. The bowl is a good size. Depth wise...but come now. Use wider bowls please? Trying to get to the rice was a challenge. Maybe pack the rice on one side and proteins on the other. It sucks trying to eat and have bits fall out of the bowl trying to get some rice. All in all though...its worth the price based off this visit. Saw them making the burrito and they use a seaweed wrap. I'm sure that makes for a chewy battle. There was a place near our home in CA that could teach these folks how to make a burrito. Use a soy wrap to make it less of a battle. The spicy level is decent...but their options to add wasabi and soy sauce is limited. Taste: 5 stars, Cost: 3 stars The burrito is a good size and they have several options for protein. My fiancé got extra protein (shrimp tempura) and it was an extra $4 which is a total rip off. It was 2 pieces of shrimp. My burrito was only spicy tuna protein for $13. It says they give you about 4oz in protein, but they use those mini ice cream scoops (barely 2.5oz). He was also bummed crab salad was also considered extra for a few bucks. The toppings are unlimited but they don't have the most options I've ever seen. The fish was great & did taste fresh & have good flavor. I appreciate that they don't totally stuff the burrito with just rice. The bill was kind of high for a place at the mall. read more

If you're in the mall this is probably a decent option for a quick meal if you're looking for something a bit different. Just keep in mind the portion sizes are smaller than they should be for the price. Maybe you get more food with the bowl, I don't know, but the burritos are not really worth it. They're not really even burritos. I expected an actual burrito roll stuffed with sushi. Instead, what you get is just a basic seaweed wrap like a normal sushi roll, and then they wrap it in paper. When you remove the paper you see that the so-called "burrito" is really just a low quality sushi roll presented slightly different. It's not terrible if you just want something quick but you can get a REAL sushi roll at a real restaurant for the same price or even cheaper than what is offered here. Note: I ordered my burrito through Doordash. I just noticed the prices at the mall are significantly less. It's still not a burrito, but for what you get the prices are not terrible. However this is NOT worth ordering on Doordash because of the ripoff upcharge. read more

My kids and I love the Sushi Burrito, Sushirrito, however you want to call it. Haven't been able to find anything around us near Eastside, so since we were up near Lynnwood, decided to try it out. It is a store in a strip mall next to a home depot, and parking was easy. Don't think I'd necessarily eat here, but it was bright and looked clean. Able to customize it like a poke bowl - My kids have a few things they can't eat, so it was nice to be able to pick and choose. Got a Dancing Salmon for me, and 2 custom with poke for my kids. Everyone was happy and the portions were good. My only issue was it started at $13 with poke, then if you wanted crab ($3) or avocado ($1), or any other types of special items, it got pretty expensive fast. They were friendly - so other than the price, was great. Just be a few dollars cheaper and/or just add in the snow crab etc.. for free and no problem. read more
