    Cajun Roll
    Ray G.

In Salt Lake City for business and chose Ika Sushi based on its proximity to my hotel. I was greeted quickly and chose to sit at the Sushi Bar so I could take in the action watching the sushi chefs make the rolls. They were very friendly and made great suggestions. I started with a small yellowtail roll and graduated up to the Cajun Roll. Both were quite tasty! Fair warning, the spice on the Cajun Roll will build!

I've been looking for a Japanese sushi restaurant for over a year. The issue is that most places don't season their rice. I have finally found it here at Ika. I came across their social media page and was intrigued. It did not disappoint. Everyone there is so welcoming and just a joy. Easily my go-to sushi establishment.

The food and the service were fantastic. I really enjoyed the flavor bomb with every dish we tried. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

I wasn't expecting much from a sushi spot in a strip mall, so call me pleasantly surprised that sushi restaurant far surpassed my expectations! It's too nice to be considered a hole in the wall, so let's call it a hidden gem. We started with the miso soup (a must have in the winter months) and shishito peppers, both were excellent. The peppers were a little sweeter than expected but the flavor went excellent with a cold Japanese beer. Our mains included two spicy specialty rolls (twist and shout, and another) as well as a few types of nigiri. All was fantastic, especially the Black Sea Bream. I would absolutely stop here again, and you should too!

It's been years since my last review, but my recent visit to Ika Sushi confirms that their quality is absolutely consistent and still ranks among the best in the valley. If you're looking for beautifully crafted sushi without the typical downtown madness, this is your spot. The fish is incredibly fresh, the rice is perfectly seasoned, and their creative special rolls are where they truly shine. I highly recommend trying one of their originals like The Joker Roll (salmon, tuna, spicy crab, and lime) or the highly complex Ika Roll. Every piece is thoughtfully topped with specialty sauces or herbs. The chef and staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and you get the sense that they genuinely care about giving you a great dining experience. If it's been a while since your last visit, or if you've never been, definitely put Ika Sushi back on your list like I did.

This was my first time at Ika Sushi, and it was such a great experience. We stopped in for a late lunch, so it wasn't very busy, and we were seated right away. The space itself is really cute and the staff was super friendly, which set the tone for a relaxed meal. We ordered a little bit of everything: the Brussels sprouts, a salmon avocado roll, a blue crab avocado roll, an albacore hand roll, and something called the Popeye roll. The Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly, with a nice char and a white miso sauce that was so good we ended up dipping other rolls in it. The salmon roll was tightly rolled with a generous amount of fish, and I really appreciated how well the rice held together even when dipping it in soy sauce and wasabi--no crumbling, which is a win. The blue crab avocado roll was really lovely, and you could definitely taste the fresh blue crab. The albacore hand roll was beautifully done and probably one of the best I've had in the city--simple but really high quality. But the standout for me was the Popeye roll. I never would have thought to put spinach in a sushi roll, but it worked so well. The flavor was unique, and again a little miso sauce took it to another level. One small but thoughtful detail that I loved: after we finished eating, they brought out a little plate of orange slices. It was a nice refreshing way to end the meal and kind of cleanse the palate--simple, but it added a really nice touch to the whole experience. We just had soft drinks with the meal, but overall everything was excellent. Quick, easy, and delicious. Perfect timing going right after lunch because we got in with no wait, and everyone working there was kind and attentive. Highly recommend and already looking forward to going back.

Really enjoyed our lunch here with the family. The quality of their food is superb. One of the best sushi places here in Salt Lake.

Came in here for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised. The service was super friendly sat at the sushi bar. They were playing low tempo music and has very Japanese feel too it. The fish was super fresh we got 4 rolls! Got their chicken karage too which was nicely fried and delicious. I would come here again. If you're nearby come eat here. Ask for a custom roll they are very talented.

Came back to eat at the best sushi restaurant in SLC. We ordered a ton of food again and everything was delicious. Halibut carpaccio - delicious! Don't need any soy sauce for this dish Yellow tail carpaccio-delicious but the halibut tastes much better Shishito pepper are always great! They aren't spicy even with seeds in it Twist and shout roll is spicy! My lips are still on fire

Amazing quality, from the north east and this place is just as good. $60 omakase with an ortoro hand roll. Service was great, we also got gyoza, soup, salad, and chicken teriyaki. All great portions, high quality. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

WOW WOW WOW is all I have to say! (Just kidding, I have a lot more than that as I always do, hahaha). In a singular visit, this has easily become one of my favorite sushi places in the Salt Lake valley. I have been wanting to try Ika sushi for a while now and finally had the opportunity to do so last week. From the outside, it is very unassuming and tucked away within the Riverwalk Shopping Center. The interior of the restaurant is not huge, so while my friends and I were over the course of our for dinner, it filled fairly quickly. I have visited multiple restaurants that were in this specific storefront location that haven't stayed (a poke place, teriyaki, and more), and I HOPE so badly that Ika thrives here because the quality of their sushi was exceptional. One of my friends ordered the Brussel Sprouts which I had the opportunity to try a bite of. To be honest, my first instinct in a sushi place would not be to order Brussel sprouts, but I am so glad my friend did! They are cooked in a citrus white miso sauce and that flavor of the sauce absolutely transforms this dish! Very flavorful! Moving to the sushi, I ordered some Hamachi nigiri and based on my research from other reviews, I really wanted to try out the Twist & Shout roll. When I tell you that the Hamachi nigiri had one of the best quality pieces of raw fish I have ever had, I mean it! Beyond the flavor alone, biting into this piece of Hamachi and through to the rice was like slicing through a soft stick of butter - the texture was perfect! I was almost shocked. To continue to on to the Twist & Shout roll, I cannot express enough that this roll is a MUST try. If you are like me and love a good spicy sushi roll, and this one has the perfect balance of spice. With the chili oil and fresh jalapenos, you have such a nice level of heat that balances so well with the rest of the roll. Also, the addition of the garlic chips adds a nice crunch to each bite without it taking away from the overall texture of the sushi. To end my review, I ask one thing from people who live in this area - please help Ika do well and visit! It is so refreshing to find restaurants in this area that aren't part of a chain, and I want it to succeed so I can keep coming here and not have to go downtown for great sushi!

A DELIGHT FOR SURE! If you sushi and relaxing ambience, this is your jam! The waitress was quiet accommodating even though she was the only server. The ambience is very happening with bright and clean decor. We ordered Gyoza which was superb. The bamboozed sushi was little too sweet for my taste but elixir was amazing. It had jalapeños kick with mango as soother. I would 100% recommend trying them

    Yummy Crunch roll
    Q Q.

We have been searching for a good sushi place in Utah. We ordered the Rock Shrimp Tempura roll & the Crunch roll. Both were excellent. The Rock Shrimp Tempura was perfectly crunchy & the deep fried tempura coating was very tasty. The sushi hiding underneath was spicy & a big surprise! The crunch roll crab meat filling was delicious! Our server, Haley, was so nice & made great suggestions. She was attentive and checked on us to make sure we were satisfied with our rolls. We will definitely be back and bring friends next time!!!

The service was great and we only waited about 10 minutes for a party of two during a Saturday dinner rush. The gyoza appetizer was delicious. I asked the waitress if it was made fresh in house and she said yes. I could tell right away when they came out that they were, in fact, homemade gyoza. They had the perfect amount of pork filling and the outside was soft and doughy. The dipping sauce added a much desired flavor for the filling. I loved that they added cabbage, carrot, and green onion on the top. The Miyazaki roll was truly delicious. It had the perfect amount of spice, topped with generous wagyu, and filled with the perfect crispy shrimp. The jalapeño aioli was so creamy and delicious. The sable silk roll was also a flavor combination I've never experienced before. Had the perfect amount of heat and sweetness. I loved the chili oil on top as well as the fish. It was melt in your mouth. The unagi was seared to perfection and was also so soft. The snow crab inside was delicious as well. All the flavors worked together and their sushi was truly some of the most flavorful I've ever had in Utah. Miyazaki truly has incredible quality fish that they use for their sushi. The Wagyu medallions were out of this world. Cooked to perfection and seasoned exactly how you would like. There was so much flavor in this dish. I truly cannot wait to come back soon. I highly recommend Miyazaki.

We love sushi and were excited to try this spot…read more I was very impressed with the inside. It's really clean and pretty, from the flooring to the lighting to the bathrooms. I feel like a nice bathroom is rare at a sushi restaurant. We were seated immediately, which is appreciated. We did come at 4:30 on a Saturday, which I think helped. Some of my random, less positive thoughts: There were no napkins, chopsticks, or ginger/wasabi on the table to start with. We have a three year old, so napkins are of vital importance. Every time we asked for napkins, we were given 4-5 cocktail napkins instead of real napkins. This ended up being even more inconvenient when our toddler spilled his miso soup on the table and floor, and we were mopping it up very inefficiently with what they had given us. A California roll being priced at $13 is a little much for us. Again with a toddler, we stick to the basics, and when the basics are pricy, it makes it hard for us to want to come back. They do have a kids' roll with avocado and cucumber--missing the only part my son cares about (crab). As a price conscious, inflation affected individual, I was put off by the least expensive rolls being $13, and most expensive being $17. I got the mango roll as it most closely matched my favorite roll at my favorite restaurant. I would not get it again. My husband got the "sex on the beach" roll and liked it but didn't have any outstanding remarks about it. The good news: - The service was great. Staff were friendly, attentive, and quick. - They handled our son's miso spill with grace. - They had a "sauce basket," which is super cool and unique. - Our coconut shrimp appetizer was AMAZING, as was the sauce that came with it. Seriously, so good. - The portion of noodles for my toddler was really generous for the price, which I appreciated. - I got salmon nigiri which was really good. (Note: if you get a 3 piece nigiri, you can only choose 1 fish.) - I appreciate how many appetizers they have at reasonable prices, and would like to come back just for those, honestly. - The wide variety is nice. I'd like to try sushi pizza sometime. And they have a lot of vegan options for those who are about that. - We had a coupon on the back of our Smith's receipt! If we come back, I think I'd try another roll or two (maybe the Caterpillar, Vegas, Geisha, or Rainbow) but would mainly focus on appetizers and small plates. I think this spot is worth a try if you can budget for it. We are mostly a "happy hour sushi" family and love to stick to our favorite across the street.

It made the whole experience feel personal and relaxing. The location is super convenient too, right next door to the Tru Hotel by Hilton, perfect if you're staying in the area and don't feel like going far. The only tiny thing I'd change is asking for one of my rolls without sesame seeds next time. They were a little heavy-handed with them and it gave the rice a slightly odd, almost stale texture (I could tell the rice itself was fresh, it was just the seeds). Minor detail, but now I know. Overall, a really solid spot. If I'm ever back in the neighborhood I'll definitely return, especially knowing the service and food are this good even on a quiet night. Keep it up, Soy Sushi!

The restaurant has a fun, welcoming atmosphere with a lively energy, yet it's still comfortable enough to enjoy a relaxed meal. The service was excellent--our server was friendly, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations when we couldn't decide what to order. We we knew we wanted one of our usuals the Playboy roll but then asked for a recommendation our server recommended the Kamikaze roll, and we're so glad we took her advice. Both rolls were beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and packed with flavor. The Kamikaze was served with a cilantro-lime sauce that added a bright, refreshing finish and really made the roll stand out. The spicy edamame was another standout. I'm not exactly sure what was in the sauce, but it had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Fair warning, though--when they say spicy, they mean it! It definitely brought the heat, but the flavor was so good we couldn't stop eating it. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the overall quality of the meal made it feel like a great value.
