This is my second time coming here. The first time was way better than the second. The server was amazing but the greeter, who took me to our table and cashed me out, was terrible. She took care of customers who were there after me. When it came to cash out, I handed her my card, she snatched my card from me, threw my card back at me on the counter, along with the pen and receipt. What an awesome diner just off the highway -- perfect pit stop on my way to the Catskills from the city. The service was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious, and the prices were great! I had the chicken cheesesteak lunch sandwich which came with a soup, side of coleslaw and pickle, and fries for under $10. It was a great deal and the food was really good! While the service was wonderful and very quick, the food was average. I had the Eggs Benedict but the eggs were almost raw. There was actual clear egg white still and it was so runny that it was almost inedible. I can see how people like Ikaros because it does have a nice welcoming feel to it, and the service, as I said, is great. Loved this diner so much!!! I had the chocolate chip pancakes with home fries and bacon on the side. I was expecting the home fries to be like actual potatoes, but they were diced and had great flavor. I went with three others and they all enjoyed their food too! Went there yesterday after spending some fun time at West Point. They surprised us with a small but tasty veggie plate as soon as we sat down. Next they gave us a basket of Challah bread and butter while taking our order. I had a complete Gyro meal with fries and a Greek salad on the side. The fries were nice and golden, just right. The salad, served first, was top-shelf, including Delmades, just the way I like it, including a nice hunk of Feta. The gyro was super yummy. They even included a large dill pickle and a nice side of coleslaw. My better half had Pulled Pork on toasted Sourdough with a pickle, coleslaw and fries. We decided to order a nice hot cup of coffee and the waitress brought us a carafe instead of single cups, just the way coffee should be served. They even gave us a 10% Senior discount. Few diners serve their customers like Ikaros. We have been to many diners and they are in the top five to be sure. We had no room for dessert, imagine that. Disturbingly Disgusting and Disappointing. 1st our silverware was dirty and the waitress began to tell us it is hard water stains because of the water, yet they she prewashed them and wiped them. ( so why couldn't that be done before they wrapped them for people to eat off of them. Also the I ordered chicken parmigiana with fettuccine alfredo......#AWEFUL and when u see the pictures you will understand. The waitress said this is how they alfredo sauce looks... [ like cottage cheese] what is so amazing not one ounce of customer service. Not even from the owner when I explained that my pasta was severely over cooked to the point the noodles were gummy, the waitress said they were pre cooked and then streamed to re heat. Interesting little place in the old-timey style of vaguely-Greek diners. Food was good, service was mediocre. Dishes were all reasonably priced and I have no complaints. I got a decent feta omelet with toast and home fries. Not bad. The restaurant wasn't busy, but our server seemed unable to handle the tables under his/her authority. Eventually we gave up on getting more coffee, but that is my only complaint. read more

We are road tripping from Virginia to Vermont for the holiday week. We were on the 87 and were really hungry to wait until Albany or Troy, I stumbled upon this place. Service was good, busy diner for sure, They Are Open 24 Hours on a Friday not sure if that's everyday or not, we lucked out. It's a diner next to a hotel which makes it convenient for locals, people stopping in and they have the most options I've ever seen for a diner. I'd come back my husband and O decided to get the chicken souvlaki without tomatoes. (Mine had tomatoes) that was the only down side after she repeated no tomatoes to me like three times there was tomatoes in it and really big chunky onions, chicken was tender juice and full of flavor, that was the biggest SOUVLAKI I've ever had. Big portions and low prices!! Husband also needed an espresso shot he said it was alright. They have a full bar and drink specials and everyone working is smiling and happy to serve their guests!! They have awesome breakfast options, Greek food and the burgers that passed by us looked great. The slaw and pickle was not to my liking as it was a side, they give you a lot of fries too. Always good , never great. Wait staff is nice enough for the area. Diner prices in this area tend to be a bit higher than I would like and with not a huge portion of food. The pancakes are ok, not fantastic. A solid diner with a menu that circumferences the globe and can be a little overwhelming if you happen to go in being unsure of what you want. Be decisive and not too hungry. And if you're like three year old at a nearby table who hilariously screamed "I waaaant baaacon!" for about six minutes, then this is the place for you because it's a diner so of course they have bacon you pork deprived little one and other oink eaters read more

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed when I pulled into the parking lot, and saw that Johnny D's was gone. However, I was not disappointed at all with the new restaurant. Wow! I haven't had such a great dining experience like that in a long time. Everyone I talked to from the owners to the bartender were awesome. And my waitress was awesome! She was very attentive to my kids as well. Now the food, Equally pleasing! I had the veal goulash which was fantastic! I had matzo ball soup which honestly was the best I've had. If you don't think you like matzo ball soup, try it here... If you still don't like it, then you can say you don't like that kind of soup My wife had a salad but, I can't remember which kind. She did say she loved it. My mother in-law had the eggplant and she love it too. I asked for a Long Beach Ice Tea. The bartender didn't know what that was but she Googled it and by tasting it, I would have never guessed she didn't know what the drink was... She did a great job making it. (They report that fresh veggies are served to every table from 5-10pm - complimentary) My husband and I both had seafood dishes and they were cooked perfectly. They made good on what that scumbag tried to ruin when good ole Johnny D. sold him the place. (There has been 3 owners of this diner: Johnny D., The Scumbag(who continued to run under "Johnny Ds diner"), and Ikaros ....just so you can tell who im talking about here.) Was very hesitant to come back to this diner because the last owner was known for pulling scummy moves like putting up "under new ownership" signs when he was still in fact the owner. Im glad i called their "bluff" ? ..... They really put this place back up on it's feet and running once again! and the starter veggie plate was such an awesome touch! NOBODY in the area gives you a veggie plate to start with. it's always cole slaw and pickles .... and usually only if you order certain items. Im still testing out the menu so i don't have a "favorite" meal as of yet. But i must say they make a mean Gyro if you're in the mood for one. I can't wait to find a favorite dish here! This diner is one of the best me and my family have ever experienced, it's hard to find a good diner around here :( The food was flavorful, filling, and fresh. We went to this diner last week and were happy with this service and food. Sadly this week we had a completely different experience. We called to place an order for take out and we were greeted by an extremely rude male who seemed to be burdened by our call and business. As I began to place our order, he continually and rudely told me to "wait" while he put me on hold. He then said .. " can you wait, I am going to need someone else to take your order because we are really busy here". We called back a minute later, cancelled the order and took our business to the Alexis diner which has always been great. We will never return to ikaros. Best diner in the area! My husband and I have been there/gotten take out 4 times in the last 2 weeks. So far everything we've tried has been great. They are very accommodating with special orders, they don't argue with you and they get it correct. All of the food is fresh and even when we take it home its hot. I'm from pa and my wife is from ny. When we came up to visit her parents we were told we had to try this diner. We were a little skeptical as we haven't had a lot of luck with diners in pa. We had the souvlaki and oh my god. Spiced perfectly with amazing tzatziki. The owners are very personable and always willing to help with anything. Good bar selection too. EXTREMELY RUDE! Probably the worst customer service I have ever had at a restaurant. They ran on their own time extremely unprofessional talking on the phone in front of us while we were waiting almost 45 minutes for a simple meal. The lady at the front was extremely rude the second I walked into the door. The staff all seemed as miserable as the food was. Not really the most cleanly place in the world either. Was extremely underwhelmed and angry how they would treat paying customers with such attitude. Also saw a poor guy go in for a Doordash order and the way they treated this poor kid trying to make some side money was disgusting. The lady at the front acted as if her sh*t didn't stink and told the driver to wait outside for his meal while they prepared it because "we can't have you just standing around" the drive was also an African American male so that even rubbed me more the wrong way.
