Stopped in for a coffee and chat with friends when I was visiting in Salem. The baristas were super friendly, and my coffee was super tasty (though a tad too sweet). I love the atmosphere. The atmosphere is great! I loved the high ceilings and the decor and cool details (pretty sure they were original to the building). The seats are nicely spaced so that it seems cozy, but not TOO intimate. I loved it! I hope to go back next time I'm in Salem. read more

Pros: Extremely charming, cozy atmosphere. Perfect place to study or lounge around in an oversized chair reading a book. Convenient location downtown, close to Willamette University. The few food items they have are tasty. Cons: I bought a Yelp coupon for this place because their website menu had breakfast burritos advertised that reviewers said were amazing. Well they don't serve breakfast burritos anymore! Ever. False advertising. So instead, I ordered a quiche with toast. The quiche ($5 for a slice) was delicious. But when I asked if they had jam or jelly for my toast, the barista looked at me like I asked for a pot of gold. I don't care for dry toast, so I gave it away. This also isn't a place to come if you are in a hurry. The line moves slowly and your order takes a while too. We did come in on a Sunday, so maybe things move quicker on week days. Overall, it's a good place, and I love seeing a beautiful building put to use that everyone can enjoy (it used to be a funeral home?!). But it's got so much potential to be even better. read more

I really like Allann Brothers coffee. I like Peet's coffee too. I don't think you can get better coffee than these two. This is a great all ages venue. I've never been there at night because I am old and I couldn't ever entice my young kids, who are now 20 to go there because it was Mom's idea. I think it is great to have a place for young people who are not 21. The mission of the place is a good one. They do have food--quiches, burritoes, hummus plates. You're right, it would be nice to have more choices for the food. I don't eat the goodies often, but I've never found them to be dry. People, the reason for the interesting wall murals is that is used to be a mortuary. Watch out for vampires! read more

The coffee itself is very good, but my favorite thing about this place is the owners employ a lot of local young adults, and you can tell they are teaching them some great lessons about work ethic and interacting with people. The space has a nice open feel, good mix of couches for relaxing and tables if you want to bring a laptop. read more

Came in with my mom the other day. Really liked the atmosphere with lots of comfy couches and chairs with tables about so you can set up your stuff and relax for awhile. Although there is no air conditioning the building seemed to stay relatively cool. My mom has serious issues in heat and she had no problems in the 20 minutes we were there. We will definitely be back. read more

Good people, spacious, fair prices and for a good cause.

I've been here quite a few times over the last couple years. Their new remodel of the coffee service area is really nice. I have always liked the comfortable selection of furniture in the sitting area. My girlfriend really likes their iced Mexican mocha. The last two times I've been there, I've had a vanilla bean blended drink and a Java chip blended drink. Both were really good but a little on the sweet side for my taste. The prices seem pretty reasonable. read more

Typically I would not voice my concerns about bad service but felt this needed to be wrote. I have meet up with a friend recently three times at IKE. He is a regular and knows the baristas. All three times I've gone in, it's been the owner working and a shorter barista. My friend says that the barista is a seasoned barista there. It amazes me how rude, disrespectful and sharp tongued the owner was to this barista. The barista was trying hard to keep a smile to customers and focus on the customer while being really belittled and cut off by the owner. I wanted to tell the barista to quit. She could find any other coffee shop in town that would value her work ethic. What made me decided to write this was my buddy. He told me how this place is a non-profit and worked with youth. Helping build them up, encourage them and build capacity. When I saw this barista you could see hope deflating from her. This does not seem to line up with their mission. Other than this experience: the scone was great, would prefer there to be a conventional oven rather than microwave. Ordered a latte, creamy and rich. Looks like it's driven by regular and business meetings. Pretty loud in ballroom with all the people but over all good place to meet a friend. Baristas are friendly (mostly) read more

I went to the Ike box for the first time on Friday, June 7th. It seems to be popular and I was walking around downtown. The place has a lot of seating and seemed very casual. I found the counter and was greeted by 2 workers, both very friendly. I wanted lunch and was VERY disappointed buy the selection. I asked if they had sandwiches and was told no they get the food from Allaan Bros Bakery. I thought to myself most bakeries have bread, but let it go and decided to try a burrito. I asked if I could get it made without the peppers and onions and was told it was all mixed together. OK again I let that go and ordered it anyway. After I paid I saw someone place a burrito looking item in plastic on the counter by the microwave. Turns out that was my lunch. I had just paid $4.00 for a frozen burrito that just needed to be warmed up. Had I known this ahead of time I would NOT have ordered it. When they said mixed together I thought that meant in the meat, not once was I told it was made ahead of time. When I got back to work to eat I found more disappointment, my so called burrito was mostly tortilla and the salsa wasn't homemade. In the end I threw half of it away. While they have friendly staff, it does not make up for the crappy food. If I went back it would be to try the coffee, which I did not try on my visit. read more

I go here to relax when I am waiting to for my bus. From the first time I visited this place I was more then satisfied with the atmosphere and the employees. I had just stopped by to get change for the bus and was going to use my credit card to get cash back but the employee helping me told me that wasn't available to me. When another employee overheard me say that I needed money for my bus he came and gave me a bus pass of his own and apologized for the inconvenience Of me not being able to use my card. I told him that he didn't need to give me his pass but he insisted that I take it . I left there feeling like that young man went above and beyond what you expect of an employee. That was great customer service with an A+++. I stop there ever chance I get and I have never had a bad experience with the service. Those young people are great at providing the best customer service ever. They also have great food and pasteries. I have never left there unsatisfied and I will continue to stop by any chance I get.
