Ikea is DEEP! Deep, as far as way the fuck away from where I live in Surprise! I was at Ted's Hot Dogs though, and decided to come check it out since it was only another 10 minute drive. We needed a few things and I was interested to see what the Phoenix Ikea was all about. I was a bit surprised to find out that this was the only Ikea in the Phoenix area. You would figure that the 7th largest city in America would have at least 2 of them? Nope...just this one way down the 10! I went here a little after 12 noon on a Friday. It was crowded but there was still room to walk and maneuver. I guarantee the weekends are horrid and packed with bad shopping cart pushers! As far as my purchases, I got 2 cheap door mats ($1.89 each), Two 6 packs of spoons ($6.00 each), 6 bowls ($3.99 each), 10 glasses/cups ($.98 each), a colander ($3.00), and 2 throw blankets for our couches ($12.99 each). I was pretty impressed with the quality of items and the total cost for everything. Ikea is fine by me! I have purchased items from there in the past and most of them have held up reasonably well. I just wish that it was a bit closer so I could come here more often. read more

I love ikea!!! I could spend hours in there. And regardless of the furniture being "cheap" I have never had any issues with the multiple larger pieces of furniture I have purchased here. Went recently for storage and was happy with what I found. The clear bins are fantastic for organizing. The reason I give 3 stars is because the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. There are also very few restrooms, at least that can be found. I would think being that they sell bathroom furniture and fixtures their bathrooms would be updated and clean. They are filthy. -4 stars for the gross bathrooms. I also give 3 stars because of the lines! It never used to be so bad. But now it's like there are far less lines open and twice as many people in each line. read more

Ikea literally has the worst customer service model I've ever experienced. Tale of Two Purchases: 1 - About a year ago I bought something in-store and wanted to return the product only to find the return area populated with dozens of people waiting for over an hour. I didn't bother returning the crap product. What else was particularly annoying was IKEA had two people working the returns but seemingly plenty of staff at registers and food counters. 2 - This summer, COVID 2020, I bought an outdoor chaise lounge for delivery (really kinda overpriced). The delivery estimate was several weeks out so I decided to cancel my order. Expecting a simple cancel button to be found on their website. No luck. Ok, not everyone is Amazon. But the cancellation process quickly spiraled down. Their process is to call an 888 number. Called number... no option for cancellation. Tried the "reschedule a Delivery" but with an 36 minute wait I hung up considering I may not even be in the correct queue. So I tried to be sneaky and call 888 number and get into queue to place a new order. After a long tree, got to a message saying they don't take orders over the phone.. thanks for calling bye. Went to look for some affordable furniture pieces and breakfast with the kids. IKEA is absolutely enormous and the kids enjoyed looking at all the various furniture options (especially kids toy section). It's disappointing that the facility is setup to force you to traverse the entirety of the store instead of allowing for a faster shortcut etc. At the end of the day we were able to pick up some unique kids toys/furniture which was good. The breakfast however was pretty disappointing. It's really cheap but honestly it showed in the output. The crepes weren't cooked very well and the eggs tasted like they were made out of powder. The sausage was over cooked and super dry. Kids didn't end up eating that much and we didn't either. I'd be ok if they upped their prices and had better cooked food. read more

I enjoy reading IKEA Hacks, so I enjoy shopping here. I do appreciate that they try to keep the prices low by not providing free bags. However, carrying the big package without a bag is sort of a pain. On the plus side, I like those quirky Scandinavian designs and I usually can find things here that I sometimes don't need. read more

I like this store for a number of reasons. There is a lot of very affordable, fun mechandise for the home, with new stuff each visit. The whole store is so spacious and set up so that shopping and or/browsing is always a relaxing, pleasant experience. And the cafe serves good inexpensive light fare - perfect for having a substantial snack or a light meal. read more

What's not to like...It's Ikea...A place to buy cheap stuff...Cheap! I'm a real fan of their grab and go goods, but if you will buy furniture I suggest you "know who you are." If you love puzzles it may be nirvana as you will have something to show for your prowess. If not, the experience could be vexing or worse. And worse means waiting in line for an hour to return. I purchased a bed, dresser, and standing mirror. Giving my son the lead on the bed (and yes you need a side-kick) it went together fairly easily. The dresser was another story with 27 repetitive steps. Even with help it was a nightmare! 27 (twenty-seven) repetitive steps! Lots of breaks, lots of self talk, lots of angst wondering if it would "ever" be finished. And then I broke a board and called Ikea for help. No luck getting through as the number is/was always busy. Thankfully I was able to fix it myself with Hard as Nails, a vice, and overnight dry. Yep it took days to complete. No longer owning a truck, I rented a U-Haul for pick up. I did so hoping to save on the delivery fee and actually ended up spending more. On the other hand, given the reviews of the delivery service it worked out for the best. Slow boats, incomplete orders, long shopping times, along with diy assembly is more than I could bear! Again, "know who you are." Thanks to my Dad (who would never admit to wanting a son,) I have an abundance of tools, and good working knowledge of most repair and installation projects. My problem with assembling furniture is I HATE puzzles! The mirror was the best...unwrap and stand :) Good luck! read more

The was our third visit to this location. We're big fans. We bought a few pieces of furniture (small bookcases for closets, dresser), dishware, kitchen accessories, lighting, and home decor on our visit last year and we still love everything we have. This time we didn't need so much stuff, but enjoy browsing the store anyway. We picked up some dishes, kitchen utensils, entertaining pieces, storage, dining table items, and home decor. Again, we love everything! The store is massive, so we give ourselves two hours for leisurely browsing and a light purchase. If you need to do more serious shopping, I would add another hour or two. We enjoyed looking at some of the model kitchens and other showrooms since we are checking out what we like for near-future home remodeling. Products I love: Home decor! The faux plants are very nice and look great. I love the decorative bowls and vases as well. We love the funky lighting options! We have a large one in our living room and two smaller table lamps in two of our bedrooms. The dishes are great too. Actually, we like everything. Even the kids' toys are cool! Plus, the prices are amazing!! I have not eaten at any IKEA location, however, I hear great things about the food. One day I will need to try the Swedish Meatballs. Negatives? Living 300 miles away from the closest IKEA and not having viable returning options. There were two items we would have like to exchange for a larger version, but fortunately they still work well. However, until Las Vegas gets IKEA (2016!), I will keep coming here as long as I'm in the area. read more

We showed up and the for starters the check in wouldn't work, next a nice girl came and got the order number and disappeared. 30 minutes later my husband called and they said they haven't even started to pull the order. I was horrified to find a sign which announced "Out of Swedish Pancakes" on this visit. I'm now worried. If IKEA is out of Swedish pancakes, are there Swedish pancakes left anywhere in the world? This restaurant is not a destination in and of itself. But if you are at IKEA, and you need time to decide which furniture kit you are going to torture yourself with, stop on in for a bargain. Free coffee with the free IKEA Family membership. The coffee is good! Opt for a 99 cent breakfast special or upgrade to the Swedish-American breakfast to get a fix of Swedish pancakes. The pancakes, with lingonberries, are great given the volumes served. It's sad that IKEA feels the need to add French toast sticks... to accommodate our supposed Arizona taste preferences. The scrambled eggs? Powdered? Processed? I don't know what they are but I know how they taste. Yuck! The breakfast potatoes... are fine. Other times of day prominently feature Swedish meatballs. They don't resemble anything ever served by the Swedish side of my family, but they are okay. The Swedish desserts can be interesting. All processed, frozen and thawed, I suspect, but they do have unique flavors I have encountered when traveling to Sweden. The IKEA Restaurant is really just about promoting the store. Providing another reason to venture in. Specials on different days of the week. Seasonal specials as well. They also have special holiday events. We've purchased tickets to a couple of popular holiday events in the past, hoping to embrace our Swedish heritage. I am not a fan. Instead of being able to go where you want you have to walk past everything they have. There are a couple of short cuts, but they aren't always obvious. And most of what they have is really pretty cheap stuff (cheap in how they made it, not necessarily price). They do have some interesting ideas (like how to have a complete apartment in something like 150 sq ft). I would take their stuff over anything at Walmart, but how it's made and how it looks is just cheap. I really don't like the look of most of their stuff. We bought a basic table (similar to a side table). It's nothing fancy, but it will serve the purpose (we're going to cover it and put a mini fridge on it so we don't have to bend over to get into it). Probably could have gotten a cheaper one at Walmart, but those are particle-board crap. This one appears to have been solid pine. Anyway, there are a lot better furniture and household stores out there. In my opinion this place is more hype and fad than anything else. read more

Just when i thought Walmart was hell on earth, i remember this place is too. Its like walmarts foreign exchange student. Ugh, seriously though. I am annoyed every time i find myself needing to wander in here for something. Usually, i am lured in by a cheaper price than Target (that or the meatballs lol), since i refuse to give walmart a dime of my money. Parking is a nightmare, its always super crowded and cars back out right and left without paying attention. Once inside, its insanely overwhelming. Even with the winding map thingy, you literally cannot get out of this place in under an hour, even for 1 item. Its all over the place, and really doesnt flow. Especially when carts are going in every which direction. I hadnt thought of writing a review here, until this afternoon, when i came in for 1 thing. A door hanging shoe rack. my son has one, and since its held up for a year plus, for 5 bucks i figured i would come back in for one for my room. It took 15 minutes to get to the damn department, and then i couldnt find the shelving they supposedly were at (i looked it up on the website). i kid you not i spent over 10 minutes trying to find an employee to help me. THEN, after tracking one down, i realized the door hanging things have the holes for the door hooks, but of course the door hooks arent included. That would have made too much sense, right?!?!?!? Of course i ask where those would be located then, so i can get my stuff and get out. Guess what. They have 10 billion items, and door hooks ARENT one of them. Now, explain to me how this makes any sense. Im sorry, but by this time (and still now as i write this) am highly annoyed. Conclusion, i leave without the dang shoe rack, and no meatballs. ended up at target, because they had exactly what i needed (for 10 bucks) and i was in and out in 15 minutes max. Well since there is only 1 in the state of AZ I know of you can't be to surprised how packed they are no matter what day you go especially on a weekend. It's definitely nice how you walk through the upper level to see all the designs and layouts of stuff. And then right before you go downstairs you can stop at the restaurant and have some affordable food . Then you get to shop downstairs and get all the items you liked upstairs, I would say my only 2 complaints would be the lines to checkout , they should have every checkstand open so you can get through quicker as well as cashiers should be able to adjust pricing without waiting 10 minutes to mark down an item by 1$ because it scanned wrong. read more

I am obsessed with Ikea! I absolutely like coming here for some Swedish meatballs and chicken tenders! I get allot of my household decorative items, furniture, and kitchen items here. Allot of their items are very easy to assemble but their decorations items can be a little expensive for some items. I don't think some fake plants is worth 20-50$... Staff however, are extremely hard to find sometimes. Most of the staff are upstairs in the show room. The show room is for customers to look at and go down to the marketplace and grab your items. But once you go downstairs to the marketplace barely any staff are there to help you... it's frustrating sometimes. Its also frustrating that this is the only location in Arizona at the moment. Review for their restaurant. I wanted 30 mins between the time I got my food and the cashier checked me out. By that time my food was already cold. I had to microwave it again myself. I was honestly eating left overs at that point. It was 8 pm on a Friday night and they only had one poor cashier working. Ontop of that the credit card reader was taking longer than usual. On average each customer waited probably 3 minutes at the cashier waiting for the credit card. I won't be coming back here again. I don't like my time being wasted. read more

I friggin love this place! Got my daughter's a drawing table and a paper roll for the table and so excited to put it together tonight for them! It was only $49.99 way cheaper than pottery barn kids. Probably one of the most enjoyable IKEA shopping experiences that I have ever had and probably will get. We drove over an hour to come to this location. I was able to look at the inventory that I wanted online but a lot of the items stated that they were out of stock but some weren't. I tried my luck and I made the trip anyway. Got there and there is a huge parking lot so I was able to find parking right away. The store itself was just like any other location but with less people here which was so nice. There was so many friendly staff around to help, which you won't get at most locations. I was able to browse and look at things in peace and quiet. When I got to the furniture pick up area, it was just as easy and they had everything in stock that I needed (which never happens). The lines were at all and check out was great. I was able to pull up my car for loading without any issues and even had staff help me load it until my car. Perfect experience that I will probably never have again; hence I needed to document the experience! read more

And their return dept takes forever. 3 folks working and taking over 15 mins to help 3 people, while you have 2 folks working home delivery & furniture delivery with nothing to do. I was double charged for a dresser and did not realize until I made it all the way home, 35 miles from IKEA. I had to rent a truck due to the size of all the furniture purchased. My friend and I purchased multiple pieces for our homes. I called ikea the next morning to discuss the steps for a refund as their cashier made the error of scanning the dresser box twice. They advised that they would open a case with the Tempe store and they would be contacting me within 72 hours. The ikea customer service rep updated all of my profile information as well since I moved. More than 72 hours goes by and I still have not heard from anyone so I called ikea again, I was advised that they would be refunding my card for the $170. I was extremely grateful they would do this without me traveling all the way back with the items, I purposely did not build anything because I worried I would have to travel back with them. I kept checking my bank statements to see when / if the money was refunded, after 10 business days it still was not refunded. I called ikea again around 9am and was told that they had issued a gift card, I was upset because no one had called to discuss, why would I want a gift card when this wasn't my fault? If it was I would totally understand but their cashier scanned the dresser box twice. I was told I would have to call back after ikea opened in Tempe after 10 and discuss changing the way of refund. I went ahead and called back around 12pm as I was working and spoke with a customer service rep and was advised that they issued a gift card, couldn't tell me what address (was is my current one they updated when I first called or the original address on file?) but offered to give me the gift card # over the phone. I advised I did not want a gift card as this was not my error, $170 is a lot of money and I would prefer to have it returned to my card or cash. I was then advised that I would need to go back to the Ikea store and discuss in person.... Why after 4 calls was I just told to go to the Tempe ikea store to resolve this?!
