We had an appointment to have 2 of my granddaughters teeth pulled today and she has been going to this office twice a year for cleanings and other work for years.And when we got there the dentist (Dr.Pennywell) would not do it because there were no custody papers on file ! But it clearly showed I was the one who took her for every appointment, when they topped in her name my picture popped up with my driver's license which made me the guarantee if her insurance didn't pay and still wouldn't . I've been calling for 2 days to reschedule my daughter's appointment. Each of the 7 times that I've called, I've stayed on hold in excess of 5 minutes until being automatically transferred to a voicemail box that is full. This previously occurred earlier this year when trying to contact the office for an appointment. This is the worst place ever. Had to set up an appointment for fillings 4 weeks out. Next day they try to call in medication that my child has been allergic to for 7 years. Then they call at 2:38 the day before the appointment that I missed. When we walk in they tell us they have to reschedule an appointment we had to already wait 4 weeks for. The office manager called him dramatic and said you are just like my nephew that has autism. I'm so upset.. I had to call his pediatrician and his therapist to get a note... both ada and hippa violations ... she terrified my son... he thought she was gonna hit him... he was crying... other staff members were trying to calm him down. The hygienist even told dentist the office manager chewed him out and it was bad. they have treated us very bad. Landon is so upset he's hiding...This momma is beyond pissed. This is regarding IKids Dentistry and Orthdontics in Burleson - Specifically the "GENERAL" Dentist, Dr. Ryan Max Johnson... My 18 year old daughter went to him today to have her wisdom teeth and roots of another tooth extracted. We waited 5 months trying to find an oral SURGEON that does IV sedation. Well, the day of the appt. The Dr. Walked in and I tried to shake his hand, he brushed me off and seemed very agitated. My daughter also noticed his "attitude" as well. Maybe because the scheduler Marianna was also having a pissy attitude. So the Dr. "Attempts" 2 IV sticks and misses, did not even try a 3rd which is standard practice. I, as a trauma Nurse of 22 years could have easily placed the iv in her right radial vein. We asked the tech if he could at least ask the Dr to TRY the radial. He REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK. So NO IV SEDATION, they gave her the equivalent of a low dose of valium...thats it! If that would have been acceptable, we would have gone to a general dentist, which btw..(thats what he is). He is NOT an oral surgeon, he is a GENERAL DENTIST WITH A BAD ATTITUDE. So he now wants to extract all 4 wisdom teeth (1 horizontal one) and a root extraction with NO SEDATION. That is barbaric and inexcusable. My daughter just wants this over with as she has been waiting for 5 months to get in with an ORAL SURGEON AND WITH IV SEDATION. SHE GOT NEITHER! PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A DENTIST. If you have a bad feeling about the visit or if the "Dr." and the "Scheduler" are both rude and pissy towards you or your child, RUN, RUN FAR. I personally would not take a dog to Dr. Johnson if he was the LAST "Dentist that extracts wisdom teeth" on earth. Make sure you find a true ORAL SURGEON, not a general dentist. We were lied to, treated like crap and will file a complaint with every agency I can, so this deception, and attitude does not happen to anyone else. Please do your homework before scheduling anything. I would not let him go a teeth cleaning on anyone I care about. Now Marianna is saying "She fought the insurance to pay for her procedure" (Which had already been approved), but you know what..don't do my daughter any favors. This practice has potential, but it is very disorganized. We went for an initial exam in early October. The "hygiene bay" where they do cleanings is a large communal room with several patients being seen (or waiting) at once. The doctor comes in and explains the treatment plan (if any) in full view/ ear shot of other parents or patients that may be in the room. *Keep your original treatment plan quote and bring it to the appointments.* They tried to charge me $275 after one visit, until I showed them they had clearly quoted me $157. They adjusted it, but if I hadn't said anything I would have ended up overpaying by over $100. Be aware that if you see different dentists within the practice, they may try to change your original treatment plan. My son was supposed to receive fillings based on his original treatment plan, but then we were put with a different dentist who wanted to crown the teeth instead, based on her own preferences. We wound up having to refuse and reschedule. You can request to see the same dentist throughout if dental work is needed, but also be aware that this may lengthen the wait time between visits. Do not allow them to go ahead and put your child on laughing gas if there is a significant wait. On what turned out to be our last visit to this practice, the dentist was very busy and my son stayed on laughing gas for nearly 40 minutes before they even started his procedure. As a result, the numbing jelly meant to reduce the pain of the injections had worn away. My son, who had never had previous issues with the injections, felt the full force and began sobbing. No work was able to be done that day due to his emotional state, and because he had been on the gas for an extended period of time waiting for the dentist, he vomited afterward. We chose to go elsewhere, and he went on to have a great experience at a different practice. The staff was mostly kind and accommodating, that was not really the issue. The issue was that this practice is so disorganized, you could wind up with your treatment plan needlessly altered, being overcharged, or waiting so long on the dentist that your child winds up sobbing and in pain. If you choose this practice, be prepared to advocate for your child. Ask for the same dentist throughout. Know what they quoted you. Verify before you go which doctor you will see and what each visit will entail. We chose to go elsewhere. Proceed, if you choose, with caution. read more

f you are a single parent and have no help from family, do not come here. There has been numerous occasions I have taken off work to ATTEMPT to bring my son to his appointment, with 3 of them being cancelled each time I showed up. (YES, showed up) They do not bother to call in advance. They are VERY easy to give up and say "just make another appointment." They have absolutely NO regard to a working parent's schedule, I feel like they just all assume we sit around at home all day doing nothing. How about try calling parent's in advance to let them know their system is down, or if your child didn't take allergy medicine that day not to come. They just wait for you to take off work and show up to turn you away. That is IF you can get them on the phone. Y'all this has happened more than 3 times for me. Def theft for services not performed. I assume they run their business off of co-pays while turning parents away. Rules seem to change with each person and whatever the day feels like to them. DO NOT COME HERE. KNOW YOUR BENEFITS BEFORE YOU GO! The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because we have never had any issues with the doctors themselves. Their billing department is a complete different story! They are the most incompetent billing department I have ever seen. I have both medical insurance that covers 2 cleaning as well as high option de y'all insurance. They know what my insurance is, yet they always schedule my kids with doctors out of our network when there are plenty of other doctors there that accept our insurance. This latest time was the worst (just happened today), both my kids went in for routine cleanings and they said it was going to be $238. I said there was no way that was correct. All I should have is a copay, the billing person said "oh well insurance hasn't approved it yet so you need to pay it." Umm...NO! You correctly figure out my cost and I will pay that! My insurance has not changed since the last time we were there. If I had paid, no way this place would have refunded my money when insurance paid their part! Another instance, back in April my daughter needed to have a few cavities fixed. They told me a cost that in no way lined up with my benefits. I had to argue with them for 20 minutes telling them they did not calculate my benefits correctly. I told them I have the High option with MetLife, finally they look and go "oh, you're right!" I swear they do this on purpose hoping people will not take the time to double check all their mistakes! We will probably start taking our business elsewhere! read more

My 4 children have been going to this dentist since 2014 but recently had to take our business elsewhere. I would have loved to stay since most of our dealings and experiences have been quite pleasant. The staff and most of the doctors were friendly, kind and attentive, but all it takes is one bad apple in the mix to change all of that. Our 3 year old needed some work done on her teeth that required a conscious sedation. When we were notified of this we were told that we could not be present during the process. Taking into consideration her age, we just were not comfortable with that and were told that a consultation could be set up to see if they could work with us and allow one of us to be present during the procedure. During the consultation the doctor was rude, unprofessional and argumentative. Which I did not expect at all. As parents we have valid concerns that should not be taken lightly nor should we be made to feel unwelcome. Instead of answering with a simple yes or no to our request, we got the run around and were being talked into going through with the procedure anyways. When he realized we were not going to change our minds, we finally got a simple "no" answer which was all we wanted to know from the beginning. It is unsettling when a dentist does not take your concerns seriously, especially when it involves your children and to handle themselves in such a manner. We have since found a new pediatric dentist that will accommodate our needs and respects our concerns, and that feels great to have. read more

I have been a big fan of this location on the dentistry side, however, I am counting down the days my son will no longer be in braces. Over the past year there has been a dramatic change in the level of service received. You can NEVER get a live person from the ortho office & appointment confirmations just stopped. So unfortunate since my daughter is now looking to get an ortho consult & the location is so convenient. Will definitely be selecting a new ortho location. read more

The staff was nice enough but DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS! After calling to confirm my insurance, they charged me more than $750 more than what they originally, verbally, quoted me. This is on top of adding several treatments, and hundreds of dollars, to the bill during the exam. If you choose to go here, get everything in writing first. Get a written treatment plan and demand they stick to it. I will not ever go back here and would suggest the same for anyone else. read more

Dr. Hamilton is amazing! My son has been scared of doctors and dentists his entire life and was difficult to work with. Dr. Hamilton was so kind, took his time, walked him through every step, and was so empathetic. Every dentist we've tried before would not work with our son because of his anxiety. He couldn't get the care he needed because they gave up on him. But not Dr. Hamilton! Now, I bet our son won't mind visiting the dentist. Thank you so very much, Dr. Hamilton! You rock! I had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get my retainer. For 3 hours there was nobody at the front desk and everyone wanted to ask for assistance, but nobody was there to help. When they finally took me back, everyone was rude and made me feel like it was my fault. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! My son went in for a routine check up as he does every six months and no cavities the previous six months. This time three cavities and two were on his adult teeth which I found hard to believe. I took him for a second opinion today and my personal dentist spent twenty minutes looking, scraping and poking and NOTHING. His exact words were "I don't even see anything worth watching at this point". It makes me ill at the thought that these childrens teeth are getting drilled on for absolutely no reason. My recomedation to you is to go and get a second opinion if your child is diagnosed with several cavities and NOT to make an appointment with this dental practice. I called the office themselves and asked specifically who the dentist was that saw him last time so I could report them to the ADA. read more
