I'm writing this while the experience is still fresh, unfortunately not in a good way. I came across Ikkyu Ramen & Bubble Tea on Instagram earlier today. Their videos looked so appetizing that I suggested we go there for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were genuinely excited and arrived hungry, with pretty high expectations after seeing their social media. From the outside, the first thing that caught my attention was the messy half-raised blinds, which honestly made the place look abandoned, like it had been cleared out in a rush. Once we noticed how busy it was, we assumed the food must be worth it. Inside, the café is small but has some thoughtful decor details. I liked the painted drum-style stools near the entrance, the decorative fan wall by the counter, and a cozy corner further inside where we sat. You can tell someone put effort into refreshing the design, and visually some parts are very charming. Ordering happens at the front counter, and you pay upfront. We ordered the Black Tonkotsu ramen, Classic Tonkotsu ramen, Crispy Bao Buns (pork belly), beef broth soup for our younger daughter, spaghetti for our older daughter, edamame, and two bubble teas (lavender and Oreo). Service was fairly quick, especially considering there appeared to be only one young woman handling everything -- taking orders, preparing drinks, and serving tables -- while one man worked in the kitchen. She was clearly overwhelmed because the café got packed very quickly. Honestly, they really need at least one more person helping at the front. While waiting, I started noticing how dirty everything looked. The floors, the walls, the door frames all had visible grime buildup. The dishes were plastic and looked poorly cleaned, with streaks and marks on them. The forks were so thin and flimsy they felt almost disposable. The food was the biggest disappointment. Both of my kids refused to eat after trying it (although my younger daughter did like the beef broth). The ramen lacked the rich, satisfying flavor we expected, and overall everything tasted underwhelming. My husband did enjoy the Crispy Bao Bun, but I personally found it too dry -- I prefer bao much softer. One moment that really stood out was while our bubble teas were being made. I wanted to film an aesthetic video because they looked beautiful online, but that quickly changed. The employee kept moving the drinks between stations, stopping repeatedly to take new orders, then at one point picked up the prepared drinks and crouched down with them to access what I assume was a mini fridge on the floor. I understand small spaces can be difficult to work in, but from a customer's perspective it looked awkward and unprofessional. The workflow clearly isn't set up efficiently. This place is busy, so people must enjoy it, and I do appreciate the effort that went into making parts of it visually appealing. But for us, the cleanliness issues, disorganized service setup, and disappointing food made this a very underwhelming birthday dinner experience. Giving 1 star only because the decor has potential. Very disappointing overall.

The ambiance is nice and clean but that might be the only highlight about this place. We ordered boba with less ice and received drinks that are not even completely full. They also do not make any modifications like adding real milk or anything. It was also odd that they add milk to some of their drinks but would not replace dehydrated milk with real milk if requested. We even asked if we can buy milk on the side, and they told us that is not possible. They were not accommodating for any requests, unlike almost every boba place we have been to (or restaurants that sell boba). Overall, service was not great and not very welcoming. The server looked like she didn't want to be there. This is more of a casual place so they don't come to you to take your order. You order in the front and then wait for your food at a table if there is space available. We also ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and stir fry yaki chicken udon noodles. The egg in the ramen was over cooked and not runny like you would typically expect in the ramen. But other than that, it was flavorful. I wish I could say the same for the yaki udon noodles but they weren't as flavorful as I expected. It was only the milder/blander side. I added pepper, Sriracha and chili oil to enhance the flavor and that made it taste a bit better. Overall the food was average at best. I'm kind of disappointed we drove for almost an hour to come to this place.

My boyfriend and I had a casual dinner date at Ikkyu and loved it! It is a small and intimate restaurant with not much seating, but it's very nicely decorated and feels very cozy. We started off with a Mango Milk Tea which I absolutely loved. I'd say it's one of the best I've had and would definitely order again. We also ordered Takoyaki, which we order often and found Ikkyu's to be so delicious. Also would order these again! Our ramen was delicious. The serving sizes are great and I was stunned by how tender the pork was. It melted in your mouth and was so tasty. Service was great as well. It is a more casual environment, but the waitress ensured we had what we needed. Everything was brought out to us warm too. Prices overall seemed reasonable for the quality of the food. Overall, I was very happy with our experience and am so happy to have found this spot! Really hoping to go back again soon, especially as the weather gets chillier.

Food: good flavors, well made, nice presentation, a few veg options Service: counter ordering then they bring to your table, friendly Ambiance: very cute Amer-Asian decor, clean Price for Quality: typical post-inflation west Boca pricing Beers: they gave a couple, nothing exciting, Boba teas are yummy

I got Ikkyu Ramen for take out. I walked inside to pick up my order. I ordered the miso ramen with extra chicken and egg. I also ordered edamame as an appetizer. The quality of ramen was fantastic. I had a separate tub with the broth to pour in when I got home. The noodles were well cooked and soft. I loved the bean sprouts also. There was tons of parking in the parking lot. Was very easy to get a good parking spot. The interior design was colorful and had Japanese writing and design. It was spacious and quiet. I will definitely be getting ramen from here again!! Super delicious.

Stepping into Ikkyu Ramen is like upgrading from instant noodles to the main event. What sets this spot apart isn't just the broth-rich bowls of authentic Japanese ramen and sharp service--you already know the slurp's strong here--but the way they cap the experience with dessert. From the first sip of deeply flavored tonkotsu to the final bite of a sweet finish, Ikkyu doesn't just hit expectations-- it overshoots them like a well-timed three-pointer. Their dessert selection is legitimately amazing, the sort of post-ramen treat that makes you rethink your life choices up to that point (in the best way). Whether it's a perfectly prepared sweet standout or a creative twist on a Japanese classic, dessert here isn't an afterthought--it's the co-MVP of the meal and typically they have specials through the week on different homemade desserts. The atmosphere hits that balance of laid-back but elevated--think "cool dinner with purpose," not "trying too hard." Service is solid, portions are generous, and the vibe is welcoming without the noise. If you're craving ramen with bold flavor and want a dessert that actually matters, Ikkyu is a must-visit. Make sure you save room--you'll thank yourself.

I always order takeout from this place but me and my friend decided to sit and eat here!! Such a cute, little, somewhat hidden spot the workers were the sweetest! This is the best ramen I have ever had here in South Florida my go-to is always the Shoyu Beef Ramen Bowl. The flavor, the toppings, everything about it is perfection!

Absolutely love this place. The sauces are delicious and tofu is always perfectly cooked. It's so hard to find places that cook tofu well so this place is a blessing. I ordered the sweet and sour tofu however forgot to take a picture due to how good it was. I asked if they hand make their sauce and would be willing to sell a cup of it and they will! Overall, great food, great customer service, and I love that they are willing to sell their delicious sauces. Thank you so much for the great food IKKYU!

Spicy Tonkontsu Ramen , stir fry yaki ramen with chicken

Had a nice dinner here before watching a movie. The interior is clean with minimalist decor, but limited seating for small groups. I saw many people come in for take out orders and the restaurant, which was empty when I arrived, quickly filled up. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and was not disappointed. It was a large portion at a fair price, and one of the better ramen spots I've tried in the area. Great Umami flavor with the spice building as you keep eating. My husband had the stir fry yaki ramen, which was equally large, but according to him my dish was the better of the two. I made room for dessert and ordered a taiyaki and taro milk tea for the road. The milk tea was good, but I could have passed on the taiyaki. It was not the large fish shaped cake I was expecting and it was a bit greasy. Overall a great experience and a solid date night spot I would return to.

My first experience here was great! My second, bad. As you can see in one photo, the ramen is delicious with tender marinated pork. I had some sake which was also very good. However, when I just went here again, it was a totally different experience. The pork charshu was tough and had no flavor. The ramen soup was light and fishy, not robust with pork and umami flavor. I ordered it spicy and could not tell if it had any chili flavor at all. Not to mention the waiter forgot about my order and then my table completely, which I can overlook if the food is good, but it wasn't. The manager was extremely friendly and accommodating, and refunded me 15$.... But considering the meal was 25$ , I ended up paying 10$ for a sprite... I'll try this spot again and hopefully the pork charshu will be like how it was before.

    Tonkatsu
    Kimberly L.

Really great ramen! I had tonkatsu and my father got spicy...I was sad they didn't have Boba but I had a matcha which was tasty though. The inside is super cute. Reminds me of Asia. I will definitely come back! Yummy.

What actual tonkatsu broth is supposed to look like.
    Trevor M.

Decided to give Ikkyu another chance for their lunch menu. Usually we go to ramen lab for the ramen but decided to try the ramen here. I ordered the Tonkatsu ramen and chicken karaage which looked great at first sight. The chicken was extremely fatty and the Tonkatsu broth was more of a miso broth and was very watered down. Tonkatsu or port bone broth normally has a whitish color not the brown miso color. Very disappointing and the food once again was like warm at best. One photo (dark brown broth) is of my tonkatsu ramen broth (after I ate the noodles). Should have taken the photo sooner but forgot. Other photo (lighter broth) is what an actual tonkatsu ramen broth normally looks like. Not much flavor either.

It was a Saturday night around 8 and it wasn't crowded at all, which was nice. I ordered a scallop sushi, Mexican roll and salmon basil roll. The scallop sushi was so fresh, and melted in your mouth. The party I was with ended up ordering one each for themselves as well! The mexican roll was simple and enhanced with a little wasabi and ginger. Perfectly bite sized pieces. The salmon basil roll was unlike anything I've ever had before. Pretty much tasted like a caprese in sushi form! Salmon was incredibly fresh, again super tender and melted in your mouth, no fishy taste. The party I was with also ordered three pieces of uni. Was $14.50 a piece, so pretty steep! However the uni was incredibly tender, very similar to butter, however the tail end did have a slightly fishy taste, but it is sea urchin so that's not uncommon. Someone ordered the tempura udon, they said the broth was a little bland, the udon were cooked perfectly, but of course the tempura gets soggy as it's sitting on top of the udon. They also ordered the fried JB roll, the hot mama roll, and an eel and salmon hand roll. While I can't comment on those things, everybody was incredibly satisfied with their meal and everything was reasonably priced. I didn't pay for this meal, so unfortunately I can't comment on the bill, but I can say this is not a cheap sushi restaurant. The prices are a little higher than average, but you're also getting what you pay for. The quality is spot-on and is exactly what you hope for when you have a sushi craving. The service was fast and they made great recommendations. Their sushi roll selection is not huge by any means, but their menu has a lot of diverse options on it. The only thing that I can't stand, but is of course very common with Sushi and Asian restaurants, is having canned soft drinks. This is a personal preference and didn't impact my rating at all. Overall, I would definitely come back to try other things!
