Service was great. The young lady behind the counter greeted us as we walked in and I asked for her advice on the dishes. She was very helpful and what she suggested was on point. The ambiance is nicely lit with soft music playing in the background. Small but ample seating. Food was really good My husband and I sat in to eat. He had the chicken teriyaki and lordt he devoured it. I had to get a taste before it was all gone and I must say it was seasoned to perfection (10/10). I had the spicy Tonkontsu ramen w/ chicken. It was really really good (12/10). For drinks my husband had a Stella and I had the Thai tea w/ lychee jelly. It was on the sweet side but I let the ice melt and it was better. There was a steady flow of food pickups and then 2 more tables filled up as we were leaving. I like seeing that. Def going back!!! read more

This is such a cute little ramen spot. The black ramen was fantastic. I love that the kid's menu items (some lunch menu items serve double duty, such as teriyaki chicken) because most ramen spots I've been to don't have any kids items. It's not on the menu but they'll do a bowl of broth and noodles for kids if they don't want all the "fixin's" for less than the price of the regular bowls. We also got a taro milk tea boba which was delicious. The service was really wonderful as well. It was just one young woman working in the front of house but she was hustling. She was so kind to me and my kiddo while also helping a few tables and packing up to go orders. I can't wait to go back! read more

This small restaurant in a strip facing 441 has only been open for about two months. It specializes in ramen, small plates/appetizers, rice bowls, and bubble teas. There's parking right outside. It's located on the edge of the shopping center with the movie theater and old navy. It's between the Carrot Express and Lime. On a cooler than usual and rainy day here, it was the perfect time for a hot meal. We both ordered ramen. He got their spicy tonkatsu. The pork bone broth was slightly spicy -- not killer. It had tender pork belly, a half of a marinated soft egg, mushrooms, nori, bean sprouts and scallions in addition to noodles. They give you a soup spoon and chopsticks to eat it. And he ate every single morsel! I had the Shoyu Tokyo. This has a shoyu chicken broth. You choose your meat -- either chicken or pork. I selected the pork chasu. It also has bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, an egg, and scallions. The noodles in this one are the thin egg noodles. It, too, was very tasty. I ate half and took the other half home. Prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. The new place is spotless. The gal behind the counter -- where you order -- and who brings your food to your table was very helpful and pleasant. They're doing a lot of takeout, but there's ample seating inside at the tables and counter seats as well. And there's even a vegan option with a vegan broth. Caught Ikkyu while searching on Yelp and thought I haven't seen this spot before, let's try them out. Walking in the store, no staff member was at the front of the store. We went up to the cashier station and saw menus. Assumed you order first and then sit down. Someone finally started walking towards us and then stopped at the cashier. Didn't say a word. Just stood and waited on us. No greeting. No hello. I had questions about one of their dishes so I asked and the lady was a little confused with my question of how the chicken was prepared. She also had a thick accent. After trying to clarify again, she answered me. We placed our orders and sat down. My table of 3 had the Spicy Miso ramen, Japanese Curry ramen, steamed gyoza dumplings and the shoestring potato appetizer. There's a foodrunner that brings the food to your table. Very little service. The gyoza came out first and it was steaming hot. Then the ramen dishes and the shoestring potato came out last. The shoestring potato was a nice finger food that the table enjoyed. I thought the Japanese curry ramen had really great flavor but it was thick for ramen noodle soup. The spicy miso ramen was amazing. The flavor was something I would come back for. However, I did ask for an extra egg because I personally love ramen egg and their ramen egg was marinated way too salty. My friend thought so too. Otherwise, we had a great dinner here. read more

Stopped by here and wanted to check it out since I haven't been. It's newer and I love Asian food. The style is fast casual, you can order the food to go or Order up front and the worker will bring the food to your table. I had the Pork Chasu rice bowl. The pork was really tender and they put teriyaki sauce on top of it. I could have done without it, but it was still good when mixed in with the rice. It's a really simple dish with protein, rice, green onions, and sliced tomatoes. Serving size was large for what it was. $15 for the bowl. Rice was fluffy and overall I'm pretty happy with it. It wasn't anything jaw dropping with food, but nice comfort food for me. I will probably stop by and check out the ramen and see if it's any good. Service was great. read more

I came in here with high hopes because of the first few reviews, but was only cautiously optimistic. I am easily disappointed with Ramen joints everywhere, but especially in south Florida. I am happy to say this was one of the best tonkatsu ramens I have had anywhere! The restaurant itself is pretty ordinary looking, and the guy who took my order seemed to be half asleep...but who cares? They know how to make real ramen! The broth and noodles were on point and the pork belly and soft boiled egg nearly perfect. I look forward to coming back when the weather cools down, but I doubt I'll wait that long. read more

We usually go to Ramen Lab Eatery but we figured we would give IKKYU a try, the ambiance was good. Small little place. Good Boba tea. We ordered the spicy miso chicken and it was pretty good. It's definitely more basic than RLE. The chicken felt like it was just boiled so there was no real flavor to it. Would have been better if the chicken is grilled and seasoned first. For dine-in, you are given a printed menu but order and pay through QR code. The service was generally impeccable and amiable, but it's really minimal service. They won't bring you water unless you ask for it as an example. I had to ask for water after they started bringing out food dishes and they didn't show any sign of wanting to bring any. I really wish the food was better. The dishes have some distant resemblances in authenticity, but taste overall were subpar and I don't understand the positive reviews raving about taste for this establishment. 1. Takoyaki was mainly flour and was way too fluffy. 2. Grilled edamame was spiced with chilli in Chinese style. It wasn't spicy or anything but for those that are expecting normal salted & steamed edamame, it wasn't anything what I expected. These are more like Sichuan fusion edamame and should be sold as such. They tasted okay, but it is just kind of weird that they only offer this type of edamame. Also, they don't give you a separate bowl to put the eaten pods. 3. Japanese curry udon with chicken katsu. I don't even know what's going on here. a. Curry was watery. I've had my fair share of japanese curry on both udon and rice, including in Japan, and this was nothing like the clam chowder like thickness that I have come to expect in Japanese curry. The curry didn't even taste deep so it just tasted watered down. b. Chicken katsu pieces were playing on their own and didn't add to the udon at all. If anything, they made the udon worse. Over 2/3 of the panko breading were completely separated from the chicken pieces themselves and just swimming in the bowl. I'd highly suggest offering the chicken katsu on the side if you can't ensure the crispiness of the katsu at all. The curry broth tasted more and more like oily, watered-down, water mixed with curry powder as time went on due to the katsu pieces, so I had no choice but to take out the katsu completely. read more

My girls ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu and Black Tonkatsu Ramen bowls, and they both oooo'd and aaaah'd over how good they were! They smelled amazing to me. The noodles were tender and tasty. I had the Salmon Teriyaki Bowl, and it didn't not disappoint! The salmon was cooked perfectly and wasn't overly sauced or salty. It's crazy hurricane heading this way and all the rain is making me crave some fire. However, most of the fun restaurants were closed today so I ran across this wonderful Ramen spot. Great reviews and it was on my way home so I figured I would give it a try. Too hungry to overthink so I tried the black garlic Ramen dish. It did not disappoint. Instead of pork belly I chose chicken. But the pictures that you see on the page are perfect. No need to take a picture of mine. The young lady that assisted me was kind and was nice enough to bring my order out to my car when it was ready. It was so satisfying and I am full on half a bowl. I could eat this often. The ramen broth is delicious!!! We came in starving and super cranky as we were running around all morning on an empty stomach. So hungry that I didn't even bother taking pictures of our bowls. How un-Yelp like of me!!!! I will def be back and get you guys some pics. We came for lunch on a Sunday and it was empty. The young gentleman at the counter seemed disinterested and didn't smile at all. It made the empty restaurant feel even more disinviting but I was hangry so whatever. I'm glad the ramen turned out fabulous. I got the black tonkatsu and the broth was rich and flavorful and I loved the noodles. It was lacking some toppings but I'll just request that next time when I return. All in all it was great. I didn't order a bubble tea this time but another customer came in and ordered three. It looked a bit on the watery side to me and I felt so bad for the lady as she tried to juggle all three drinks leaving because they didn't provide her with a cup holder. They have an assortment of beverages including the bubble and jasmine tea. I ordered a Ramen called Classic Tonkotsu with pork broth, pork belly, mushrooms, seaweed, egg, nori and scallions. Delicious broth, and the ingredients were cooked to perfection. I went up to order a bubble tea and complimented the staff for the delicious food and wished them luck in their venture. She came out and gave us mochi ice cream as a thank you. They're not messing around with Ramen at IKKYU West Boca in Shadowwood Plaza. Owned by Mia and Justin Chen, proprietors of J-Petal Coral Springs, another ramen and boba tea place. They literally moved in on July 9 with no aesthetic changes to the Old School Philly Cheesesteak joint that was in the space (might have been closed a week or less) but plan a renovation/decoration within three months. An initial warning is the curry ramen is SPICY; ask them to tone it down if hot is not your thing. They have boba teas and fruit yogurts like their other restaurant as well. Most of the things here are made in house, from scratch. I started with a selection of appetizers -- the only thing on that menu they don't make in-house is the gyoza, so I bypassed those this visit; but they might be fried really well so I'll try them next time. Takoyaki: delicious creamy battered deep fried balls of octopus, topped with a drizzle of Japanese mayo with the sweet brown okonomiyaki sauce and topped with bonito flakes. I thought it needed a bit more sauce and mayo (they acknowledged), but still very good. Crispy Fried Shishito Peppers: this is an unusual item and, in my opinion a must-order. They look deadly but are not; they are delicious, accompanied by a yuzu citrus dipping sauce. Shoestring potato appetizer: this is like gourmet potato sticks; I might even reserve this for topping the ramens. I think it's a combination of potato and taro but not completely sure. Has a red salt on it which I think is from Hawaii. Black Tonkotsu ramen: I agonized over which of the Tonkotsus to get; this one for sure is a winner. It has fermented black garlic in it which is primarily a Chinese ingredient -- the Japanese do not like strong garlic (or chili) flavors in their traditional cuisine so this is really a modern gourmet ramen that is either Sinofied or Koreanized given the popularity of the ingredient in those cultures now and the recent heavy use of it on Iron Chef in the last 10 years. The garlic flavor is very powerful, you have to really like garlic to get this one. Tonkotsu/pork bone flavor is very well developed in the broth and the Chashu pork melts in your mouth. Curry ramen: if you like spicy, this is the one for you. I'm not sure which brand of Japanese curry powder they are using (S&B, Vermont, House) but it's good and they are blending it with the pork bone broth from their Tonkotsu, so it's not really a normal japanese curry, it's got a richer flavor as a result. They added hot sauce to this which they advise you to stir in. This I ordered with pork tonkatsu cutlet on top which was delicious. read more
