The spicy California and eel roll
    Michael L.

THE BIG: Located inside the Lotte Plaza of Elicott City. Tons of other delicious mini restaurants inside as well. A big and vast menu that featured their speciality fish soup along with sushi among other things. Plenty of parking outside since it is in the burbs. THE BLACK AND WHITE: My sister and I came here after a long day of watching pool and was in need of something good. Eventually we decided on going to a ramen place (Uma Uma) which didn't turn out that good and I wished we stayed here and ate. But anyways, I digress. We looked around all the restaurants in this little block (~6 restaurants) and decided to get something light like a sushi hand wrap to appetize us for the ramen we were going to eat. Ordering was simple and service was fast. I ordered the spicy california and eel wrap (2 wraps). When the food came out, I was kinda disappointed at the size. However it did taste good. The portion was just underwhelming. Fortunately, they did provide ginger and a miso soup that kinda held my sister and I over until we got to the ramen place. P.S. They have a sashimi platter starting at $79.99 which is pretty cheap for that much sashimi. THE FINAL BAMBOO: I spent $7.41 with tax for the spicy california and eel hand wrap. Even though I ate this when I was starving, it was still good and I would come back to try more the fish soup or sushi.

Great fresh sushi at an awesome price!!! Located in the Lotte Plaza, in their food court. You get authentic Korean food and sushi. Very fast friendly service. I got the bento box with salmon, grilled to perfection, topped with teriyaki sauce, a salmon roll, California roll, seaweed salad and a lettuce salad for only 13.99$.

Intestines soup instead of Seafood soup

they gave me fish intestines instead of seafood/fish soup for take out. Frustrated when I get home and hungry and this is what I got. who knows what else they put in it. So Disgusting!

I always get the platters and/or the party trays when I have a gathering. The sushi is always so fresh, and the prices are cheap compared to other sushi places around the area. The complimentary miso soup and spicy radish that comes with most of the menu goes really well with the sushi. On cold days, the soups always hit the spot. The portion is a lot despite the low prices. I never regret my meals here!

The back patio is definitely where you want to be on a warm evening. The overhead string lights created a great atmosphere, and the staff were both pleasant and efficient throughout the night. We had an unexpected guest join us mid-meal, and our waitress immediately accommodated us with a table change without missing a beat. It's impressive how quickly they're able to turn tables while still keeping service smooth. The sushi presentation was very nice, and they offer a great selection of rolls. While everything we ordered was good, several of the rolls ended up tasting fairly similar - all specials I believe. If possible, request seating toward the very back of the patio -- it's closest to the Patapsco River and makes for a really relaxing setting.

The chef even made us a baked salmon dish on the house, which was delish! However, it seemed like the rice my sushi was made with was part of an older batch or undercooked? It was kind of hard. My husband's rice had a better texture, more what you expect with sushi. But I could tell the fish was very fresh and so were the rest of the ingredients besides my rice. I think it was not the norm & definitely would give them another chance!

I have been to many sushi restaurants that are high end and more affordable, but Oya is the best of both worlds. The quality and creativity in each dish is far out of the league of what you pay. The restaurant is on the smaller end, but the lighting, decor, and cleanliness is absolutely stellar! What I love is that the interior compliments the fresh and clean taste of the fish. Attention to detail in how everything is presented and plated shows the amount of care that the chef has for their customers. Additionally, they do not hold back on the things that matter. I chose to eat various dishes of fish, which require a lot of ginger to cleanse my palette after each fish, and Oya did not hold back. Where many other sushi restaurants lack, Oya dominates at. Service was absolutely amazing as well. The chefs were extremely respectful greeting you and the server was ready for whatever need you may have. More than supporting big chains that profit off of you by overstuffing you with a lot of rice and cheap fishy fish, I would HIGHLY recommend supporting a small business. Oya Sushi is one of the handful of restaurants that I wish I could exceed five stars. Everything about this place exceeded all expectations and I could not recommend this place more than any other sushi restaurant I have been to. It is a different type of love when you want to go around to all your friends, family, and co-workers to one day take them to a restaurant. Oya is a MUST eat when in Maryland.

Sushi rolls were all great and fresh. Yellow tail hibachi I was just a little different on the flavor , but it was very fresh and presented in a beautiful way. I also got Wago beef rice. Rice was great, very flavorful. but I was not a fan of the beef - It was couple huge pieces. Rea tender. Not your typical way of beef in fried rice. Yet fresh and good. I would come and try other dishes.

The restaurant blends modern and traditional Japanese design and occupies the former space where a coffee shop once stood. There is ample free parking outside, though Friday evenings in this part of Columbia are notoriously busy. Food -- Thoughtfully presented, visually appealing, and made with fresh ingredients. Seafood Miso Soup -- A large bowl filled with whole fresh clams, scallops, shrimp, and green onion. A very generous portion--so much so that she brought some home to enjoy later. Salmon Skin Salad -- Pieces of salmon skin ranging from crispy to slightly chewy, mixed with cucumber, fish roe, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. A delicious combination. Signature Maki - "Maryland" Roll -- Beautifully presented with blue crab, shishito peppers (mild and slightly sweet), Old Bay-torched salmon, spicy mayo, and rice pearls. Both friends quickly devoured theirs. Prices felt somewhat higher than typical mall fare, but the freshness of the ingredients and attention to detail made it worthwhile. The entire staff we encountered were engaging and genuinely seemed happy to be there for their guests. A big nod to management for making hospitality an important part of the dining experience. One minor suggestion: the attractive menus could use periodic checks, as a few pages appeared a bit worn. I would happily recommend a visit--perhaps on a less hectic day so you can enjoy the décor and food at a more relaxed pace. There is also an outdoor patio that will be especially appealing once the warmer weather returns.

I am a lover of tuna and regardless of the roll I order, specialty or regular tuna, they are all delicious. My family and I came in for dinner to celebrate a birthday. Upon arrival, I was shocked to see how packed it was, but that was telling of how good their food is. There were a lot of birthdays being celebrated that evening, and it was a Wednesday. They had a private room available, but there is a food minimum and you have to take your shoes off (floor table set up). Though we were offered the option, we decided to just sit in the main area since we were coming with a few older family members and didn't want them to struggle to put shoes back on later and they prefer sitting in chairs. They have sushi, teriyaki, platters and combination dishes. We all had something different, ordering from the combination options, teriyaki and some sushi on the side. Since we all ordered a special, it came with miso soup and salad. The food was brought out in a staggered manner - three out of the five of us got our food before the others, and they almost finished half of their dish before ours even came out. I had the beef teriyaki and I was shocked to see that it was a large piece of beef, and we were given knives to cut it up. I am used to the meats being already cut up, so this was different. The food was still good though! I will say that I wish there were more broccoli, than bean sprouts accompanying the meat - the dish was still delicious though! The chunk of meat was so large that I actually had leftovers to bring home as a second meal. The sushi was impressive. Not only was the selection so large and I wanted to order every single one of the special rolls (but I didn't because my eyes tend to be bigger than my stomach), they use all fresh ingredients. The shumai was unimpressive, but because everything else was good, I didn't really mind it. I feel like my rice bowl was not full, as most restaurants pack the rice into the bowl; whereas I felt like there were air pockets in mine so there was a little less. To my surprise, they had a decent dessert menu: several ice cream options, variety of mochi and a few cake selections. Because they knew we were celebrating a birthday, they surprised us with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream, topped with different cookies to share! It came out with a sparkler, and the employees singing along to a soundtrack played on the speakers. This really made my sister feel so special, and as I said before, it seemed like most of the larger parties there were also celebrating a birthday that evening. Delicious food, friendly service, easy parking and fun atmosphere!
