    Mapo Tofu.
    Josh R.

The Mapo Tofu here is excellent! It was well balanced in spice with a hint of Mala from Sichuan Peppercorns. I also appreciate that they used proper silky Tofu, instead of medium firm which most restaurants use. I will definitely be back to try other dishes that thai offer.

We came here around 9 pm on a Sunday and it was pretty empty so we got seated immediately. We ordered skewers, braised pork belly, and half duck. It was so good!!! All of the food was highly flavorful and were large portions. The wall decor was very nice and staff were kind and attentive. There is parking right in front of the restaurant.

Delicious homemade dumplings , tasted like the traditional home cooking style. Every bite had shrimp. Fillings are full, cooked to the perfection. 饺子皮没有煮破 friendly staff, good price, quiet time in between meals.

    Tonkatsu Ramen (10.5.24)

10.5.24 5 stars for the Tonkatsu ramen. The broth was flavorful, pork was tender, and an abundance of ramen. 3 stars for the pork bun. I thought it was dry and could have used more sauce. The bun itself was the highlight as it was crispy. Loved the ambiance and decor. They had cute signs including, "leftovers are for quitters", which I thought was hilarious. Also another funny sign was "I always give 100% at work". Mondays was 14% and Friday was only 6%. Service was fine. Once she brought me my food, she didn't check on me again. I enjoyed my ramen and would come back to try the skewers and dumplings.

We love the variety of foods available at this establishment, being true to their name of "Beyond Ramen & Kabob. Nevertheless, we still tried their ramen and kabob and we were not disappointed. In general, we love that there were more noodles and "stuff" in the ramen bowls compared to other ramen places we've been to. You get your money's worth. I loved the black garlic oil ramen. It had three pieces of the pork (nice and crisp) and we also loved the pork bun we got as an appetizer. Very tasty. We got the kebabs from an earlier visit. And thought they were nicely spiced without being overwhelming. Can't wait for our next visit.

8/29 - went here for the first time after a long week of work and school with my wife and daughter. Place is pretty clean, bright and very homey. Brought us back to Southeast asian eateries with their chairs and decors. Staff is very attentive amd seemed friendly. She took our order pretty quick. Food turn around was very prompt. We ordered ramen (of course!) Serving is as expected, big bowl, pork chasu and other toppings. I had the spicy miso and my girls had the tonkatsu and shoyu. Mines were good and had a good bite to it, the girls loved theirs as well. Karaage was served differently than we're used to, but the taste is good, not karaage, but good enough for its kind. If I have to add something to this wonderful experience, I would like some condiments on the table, i.e. chili garlic oil, shoyu, sesame oil. But overall, we are satisfied and we are defintely coming back.

I've gone back a couple of times now, and had some of their skewers, and fried items. Everything is delicious here! We have gotten their wagyu, which is very tender, chicken, beef, shrimp, scallops, tofu, squid, spicy crawfish, coconut balls, and durian desserts. Some of the meat is a bit chewy, so maybe if they cut it bigger, it might be less likely to overcook. Otherwise the skewers have good flavor with a nice kick of spice. The scallops are great, with clear noodles. The service is nice and quick. This is a fun, casual place, great for a small gathering, or dinner for a few people!

Super pumped about discovering this local gem. Was looking for a new Ramen spot and saw that this spot had great reviews. It definitely lived up to what everyone had to say. I was a little worried when I first arrived, as the location is in a rundown strip center. The parking can get tight, but luckily I was able to find a spot. The place is super cool inside and has a unique vibe. The menu has a nice selection of Ramen and appetizers. All which are well priced. I ordered the spicy tantan ramen. It was delicious. The broth was the perfect consistency and had a ton of great flavor. It's not very spicy, so if you're looking for a kick, you may want to ask for additional spice. The pork melted in your mouth and had a smokey taste. Just delish!!! All for less than $15 bucks! Super great find. Can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes. Particularly the meat skewers.

bluf - great flavor with a large menu selection in a hole-in-the-wall type of establishment. I wouldn't say the ideal spot for large parties, but looks like a great spot for groups less than 8 people. Beyond Ramen & Kabob is tucked away in a (somewhat sketchy) business strip with pretty minimal parking, but you shouldn't have any issues finding it with GPS. The seating itself is somewhat minimal with pre-set table arrangements where I would imagine it would be hard to meet with larger parties. Service was pretty kind and accommodating - definitely one of those places where there's "more to the menu if you know what to order" type of Asian establishments. That being said, we mainly stuck with the menu and were overall happy with our meal. I came here for a good ramen and luckily that's what I got. Had a great depth to the broth and although I like my noodles on the more al dente side, they were still good. I felt like the meats were the stars of the dish. They had great tenderness and flavor and I would've loved more (there are options to add extra protein that I wish I got). Everything had great flavor and felt reasonably priced. The decor feels somewhat random, but nothing bad. I wouldn't recommend carry out if possible because I feel like things would get soggy and lose quality pretty rapidly in a carryout/delivery situation. Would definitely recommend checking out. Love the addition to the Ellicott City area.

Spicy tantan ramen- DELICIOUS just wish there was more broth

Overall- excellent and comforting food for a good price in a quirky ambiance with fast service and single stall bathrooms We tried to go for lunch. We got there when it opened at 11:30, but we were told we would have to wait a while for the chef. We didn't have that kind of time so we came back for dinner and I'm glad we did. Our ramen was delicious and flavorful. The meat was cooked to perfection. We both could have used twice the amount of broth. The servings were heavy on the noodles, which my little one loved. He's 2 and kept shouting for more noodles. The cucumber salad was fresh and addicting and the pork bun was unbelievable. I'd go back for that any day! Places like this make me super grateful for Yelp. I would have never thought to pop in from the outside. The parking lot is full of damaged cars, possibly because it's next to a body shop.

The atmosphere is really laid back, and the restaurant is well kept and tidy. The servers were welcoming and did a great job getting us situated with drinks and menus. We decided on beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and squid skewers along with a durian roll. Everything was so good! The meat skewers were well seasoned, tender, and deliciously juicy. The durian roll was interesting but good, too. Its very flaky with a creamy, smooth interior. I enjoyed all of it and am excited to return for the full menu launch.

I wanted to like Bonchon. I was at Centennial Park and figured give it a try. I can get great chicken wings in several spots, so I wanted to try something more uniquely "Korean." I should have followed the masses and got wings or bullogi (sp) fries. I was hoping the street corn with the mayo would be creamy and unique - after the first bite it tasted like corn you'd boil at home. The tacos were okay - I ordered "fried chicken" expected a good crunch, like a chicken tender, no such luck. It tasted bland with no fry crunch at all. They also needed better draining. Every bite yielded a leaky mess. The star of the show was the pot stickers - the sauce stood out but another item I can get for less. Overall, I left spending 37.00 unsatisfied. If I returned, I'd stick to wings or the chicken sandwich, but competition is top notch for that at better prices.

Overall it was a pleasant experience with good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Parking was easy and conveniently located directly in front of the restaurant. There is also outdoor seating available during good weather, and they even offer a dog-friendly menu for your four-legged companions. I would recommend calling ahead to confirm whether the dog menu is available year-round or only when the patio is open. Inside, the dining area is spacious and comfortable, making it a good option for both small and larger groups. They offer daily and weekly specials in addition to their regular all-day menu. Tuesday wing specials seemed to be especially popular with several members of our group. The food was the highlight of the evening. Everything brought to the table looked fresh and flavorful, and I did not hear a single complaint about anyone's meal. A few people ordered the wings and thoroughly enjoyed them. The biggest challenge during our visit was the service. Our server was friendly and clearly trying his best, but with a larger group and separate checks, things became a bit scattered and confusing at times. Orders and checks needed a few corrections before the end of the evening. In fairness, the general manager stepped in to help resolve an issue with one meal, which was appreciated and helped improve the situation. Overall, despite a few service hiccups, the quality of the food and the comfortable atmosphere made this a worthwhile visit, and I would return again.

They have a great 12-4pm lunch special on weekdays, two-hours of grill-it-yourself All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ or Hot Pot (pho-like soup) for $21, (less for kids). Arriving about 12:15pm, we were seated by the alert host with no wait. I think they could fit around 40 in booths for 4 to 6. There's a whole other area further in for maybe 50 more, with some tables for large groups. The room was lively with conversation and music. We were immediately greeted by our attentive friendly fun server, Mahlah, who explained it all to us: menu choices and pricing, the wireless ordering-tablet, techniques for grilling, and the buffet appetizers and desserts. She lit the grill that is built into our table, and took our first order so we could start in as soon as we got back from the buffet. At the buffet we filled a dish with nicely-fiery flavorful kimchee and a similar spicy mix with tofu. We got lettuce, carrot shreds, and fresh tomato chunks. Warm sesame-covered mochi-rice balls, lightly sweet and fresh with a chewy inside. Fresh hot finger-thin 2-inch spring-rolls, crispy and flakey with a little bit of veggies inside. I got small hot flakey crispy rangoon triangles filled with cream cheese with just a little crab-flavor. I ate a couple to manage that spicy kimchee and tofu :-). They had fries and breaded shrimp and chicken wings, too. We filled smaller bowls with several of their dozen or more flavorful sauces, from a KPOT signature red sweet bbq sauce, to a pretty-spicy red sauce, to a bowl of soy-sauce to which we added chives and onions and garlic and jalapeños and such. All very tasty and fresh. The lunch-menu Korean BBQ offered a wide selection of meats and seafood and veg. Mahlah was always nearby, watchful for any requests, and brought our first course in mere minutes. The "spicy" bulgogi beef was cut in medium-thick slices, maybe 1/8-in thick, and it cooked quickly while staying very juicy and very tender. The prime brisket was cut in thicker slabs, maybe 1/4-in, and it was marbled enough for good juicy flavor and tender texture even on this hot grill. We used the scissors to size it down for eating. The beef-belly was very thinly sliced, paper-thin, and it cooked up in a flash, getting a a slight crust like a well-done Italian porchetta. That took some practice to cook without almost evaporating it! The trick? The table-grill is hottest in the middle, so cook delicate foods around the edge of the grill. We had tender chunks and strips of juicy marinated garlic-chicken breast, and tender juicy good-sized garlic-shrimp, which were both very easy to grill. We tried some thick slices and long tangles of squid, and they were tasty but we didn't really figure out how to keep them tender, so we cut them up into smaller pieces with the scissors and marinated them in soy sauce which really enhanced the slight char. We grilled sliced white onion, thin zucchini circles, chunks of fresh green peppers, thin tasty white oyster mushroom discs, and thicker chunks of peppers and portobello mushrooms. On we go! We ordered twice more. An order of the thicker cuts of pork-belly, which came out like fancy not-salty bacon. Bright-red "spicy" (not very spicy) sweet juicy white-fish fillets, which cooked fast! Sweet tender "Hawaiian" bulgogi, which we spiced up with sauce from the buffet. More of those tasty garlic-shrimp. Probably a few more items that I'm not remembering right now. For dessert we got some little chocolate ice cream and fruit-flavor sherbet cups from the freezer by the buffet, and chose tiny wooden spoons just for fun, instead of the available silverware. We got fresh fruit and a slice of light cake with a light creamy layer on top. Then Mahlah overheard one of us say "birthday"! She laughingly scolded us for not telling her sooner, quickly came back with a large wonderful slice of delicious super-light cheesecake with a candle, and happily sang Happy Birthday with us! It felt like another friend had joined us! Luckily, one who remembered the cake :-) We ate for nearly two hours, until we couldnt eat any more! It was so much fun, and we chattered happily the whole time as we were adding to the grill or serving or sneaking tastes along the way :-). We thoroughly enjoyed our tasty flavorful generous meal. KPOT is a great fun place for fresh grill-it-yourself foods. There's five more KPOTs within 45min and several more within an hour. I had no idea! But this is the only location with Mahlah, our lovely friendly skillful server.
