Really solid spot in Elicott city. The food is really solid! We had their cucumber salad, mix of skewers and dumplings. The skewers are pretty unique and you might find some pieces you can't find anywhere else if you are adventurous enough. Everything we ate was very delicious and you could tell made to order. The space itself was clean and has a few tables. The service was quick and friendly! The restaurant is in a strip mall and can be missed if you aren't looking carefully enough. The Mapo Tofu here is excellent! It was well balanced in spice with a hint of Mala from Sichuan Peppercorns. I also appreciate that they used proper silky Tofu, instead of medium firm which most restaurants use. I will definitely be back to try other dishes that thai offer. read more

The restaurant is in an unassuming parking lot. Once you go through the doors though you will have stepped into another country with the way it was decorated. It added to an authentic experience. We love the variety of foods available at this establishment, being true to their name of "Beyond Ramen & Kabob. Nevertheless, we still tried their ramen and kabob and we were not disappointed. In general, we love that there were more noodles and "stuff" in the ramen bowls compared to other ramen places we've been to. You get your money's worth. I loved the black garlic oil ramen. It had three pieces of the pork (nice and crisp) and we also loved the pork bun we got as an appetizer. Very tasty. We got the kebabs from an earlier visit. 8/29 - went here for the first time after a long week of work and school with my wife and daughter. Place is pretty clean, bright and very homey. Brought us back to Southeast asian eateries with their chairs and decors. Staff is very attentive amd seemed friendly. She took our order pretty quick. Food turn around was very prompt. We ordered ramen (of course!) Serving is as expected, big bowl, pork chasu and other toppings. I had the spicy miso and my girls had the tonkatsu and shoyu. Mines were good and had a good bite to it, the girls loved theirs as well. Karaage was served differently than we're used to, but the taste is good, not karaage, but good enough for its kind. If I have to add something to this wonderful experience, I would like some condiments on the table, i.e. chili garlic oil, shoyu, sesame oil. Super pumped about discovering this local gem. Was looking for a new Ramen spot and saw that this spot had great reviews. It definitely lived up to what everyone had to say. I was a little worried when I first arrived, as the location is in a rundown strip center. The parking can get tight, but luckily I was able to find a spot. The broth was the perfect consistency and had a ton of great flavor. It's not very spicy, so if you're looking for a kick, you may want to ask for additional spice. Picked up a take out order for our group of 3 and they were very nice when we picked up the food. We ordered the spicy miso ramen, black garlic tonkatsu ramen, chicken ramen, cucumber salad, and a beef and squid skewer. All were delicious! We will be back. We did have a few errors with our order though - the black garlic tonkatsu was substituted with a regular tonkatsu. I've gone back a couple of times now, and had some of their skewers, and fried items. Everything is delicious here! We have gotten their wagyu, which is very tender, chicken, beef, shrimp, scallops, tofu, squid, spicy crawfish, coconut balls, and durian desserts. Some of the meat is a bit chewy, so maybe if they cut it bigger, it might be less likely to overcook. Otherwise the skewers have good flavor with a nice kick of spice. I wouldn't say the ideal spot for large parties, but looks like a great spot for groups less than 8 people. Beyond Ramen & Kabob is tucked away in a (somewhat sketchy) business strip with pretty minimal parking, but you shouldn't have any issues finding it with GPS. The seating itself is somewhat minimal with pre-set table arrangements where I would imagine it would be hard to meet with larger parties. Service was pretty kind and accommodating - definitely one of those places where there's "more to the menu if you know what to order" type of Asian establishments. That being said, we mainly stuck with the menu and were overall happy with our meal. I came here for a good ramen and luckily that's what I got. Had a great depth to the broth and although I like my noodles on the more al dente side, they were still good. I felt like the meats were the stars of the dish. They had great tenderness and flavor and I would've loved more (there are options to add extra protein that I wish I got). Everything had great flavor and felt reasonably priced. The decor feels somewhat random, but nothing bad. I wouldn't recommend carry out if possible because I feel like things would get soggy and lose quality pretty rapidly in a carryout/delivery situation. Would definitely recommend checking out. Overall- excellent and comforting food for a good price in a quirky ambiance with fast service and single stall bathrooms We tried to go for lunch. We got there when it opened at 11:30, but we were told we would have to wait a while for the chef. We didn't have that kind of time so we came back for dinner and I'm glad we did. Our ramen was delicious and flavorful. The meat was cooked to perfection. We both could have used twice the amount of broth. The servings were heavy on the noodles, which my little one loved. He's 2 and kept shouting for more noodles. The cucumber salad was fresh and addicting and the pork bun was unbelievable. I'd go back for that any day! I've been coming to this place since they opened. Fairly small spot but decent amount of seating. Their ramen is solid with a good amount of toppings for a reasonable price. The flavors don't feel very Japanese with more Chinese influence. They have a decent selection of skewers, all seasoned the same with a Chinese cumin spice mix. The servers aren't the most attentive but the food comes out fairly quickly. If you want skewers as an app you should probably let them know. This is just simple great Ramen. Even to go they manage to get a great product out the door. Sure, the location isn't the best (generic strip mall) and kind of small (though cute), but I tend to get my Ramen to go (kids can be messy eaters), so it's perfectly fine. My kids (younger) got the Chicken Ramen to split. My wife got the Vegan, and I went with the tonkotsu ramen. With an order of gyoza the total was still just about $50 - a great deal. After an issue with another local Ramen spot, this is now my solid go to place for take out Ramen. read more

Finally! A Chinese style Kebab place in Columbia. I don't need to drive to Rockville whenever I get a craving. What's interesting is they serve Ramen as well. We decided to stop by this place for lunch on a weekend. Located between some shady looking strip mall, but inside was nice and clean. They sat us down right away and brought us big water bottle with lemon and small metal cups. While looking at the menu, felt like the place had some identity crisis. Couldn't tell if it was Chinese, Japanese or Korean. We ordered tonkatsu black garlic oil ramen, stinky tofu, pork and cabbage dumplings, beef skewer, chicken skewer and pork bun. The ramen tasted ok but the noodles were overcooked and the soup was lukewarm and my husband said his egg was cold. Both beef and chicken skewers were good but wouldn't pay $2.75 per skewer. As for the stinky tofu, it wasn't what I expected. I was expecting Taiwanese style stinky tofu so when this black stuff was brought out, I was shocked. It definitely doesn't taste as good as what I'm used to and probably wouldn't get this again. The dumplings were good but nothing special. Our pork bun came out last after we were done with all our other dishes. I think they might've forgotten to put it in. The pork bun was good but I felt like it was missing some dipping sauce. Overall, I was not impressed with this place. Unless I hear from others about a dish that's worth another visit, most likely won't be coming back. read more

A marketing hiccup. That's what it is. It's at the outskirts of EC and among non-dining businesses. The name "Ramen and Kabob" sounds like a fusion restaurant, and the decor and the setup are more like an Asian bar. Kind of confusing on paper. It doesn't add up to sound like a good, focused restaurant. I was skeptical. Nonetheless, the ramen is legit. Broth flavor is on point. Rich, layered, and avoids the oversalting - a very typical ramen parlor issue. Noodles are cooked just right, and the portion is just right. My only criticism? It just needs to be tad hotter. When you add all the ingredients the soup tends to cool pretty rapid (eggs for instance are pre-made and always cold. Need the soup piping hot to warm that fast), so by table it can be somewhat lukewarm. I decided it wasn't enough to knock off a star, because the flavor takes priority, and they hit that note very well. This place deserves to grow and refine their kraft. One bowl speaks volume for their skills, and they are bound to do more exciting things. And maybe upgrade their name while at it lol. read more

A total transformation from the past few failed restaurants in this location! They're currently only offering a study open menu but there's already plenty to love. The tonkatsu ramen was great, the broth and pork were really tasty (it needed more broth even after we ordered extra). We really enjoyed the kabobs but they are a little spicy so ask for them mild if you don't want spice. But the real surprise was simple but super tasty cucumber salad and the pork bun, which turned out to be a sandwich but still insanely delicious. The decor is very funky and cute. Lots if corrugated neutral and cinder blocks with funco pop figures in them. I ordered the Spicy TanTanMen Ramen - Lamb Skewers - Pork Bun. Ramen was great but I would prefer it much more spicier. Chashu was awesome. Toppings were nice and you had the ability to add more or get a refill if you'd like. Always good. BUT the reason for only 4 stars is the ramen was lukewarm. I absolutely can't stand lukewarm ramen. Like cmon. But everything else was great. Lamb skewers were awesome would totally order a bunch and have a beer here for sure. Pork bun was super good oh my good better then some I've had in NYC.
