This place is one of the absolute best places in the state to get authentic Italian food and their yelp rating makes no sense. People are so quick to leave bad reviews, but will leave a restaurant satisfied and won't leave a good review. This is one of those spots where you'll visit and you'll never forget it. Bacio Italian in Wake Forest has to be one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever tried before! This place has great service, from the hostess to our server and, even the manager of the restaurant checked up on us to see if we were doing well. We ordered French fries and mozzarella sticks as appetizers, which were great I have no complaints. However, the star of the show was definitely the pizza. We ordered their Nonna pizza, and it was to die for! I enjoyed everything about it from the first bite to the last bite. Their portion sizes are also great we shared everything and still had leftovers. I would definitely come back to Bacio in Wake Forest whenever I'm craving pizza!!! I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food that was provided. We went for lunch with a part of over 10 people and felt like the service was accommodating! Their sauces were extremely flavorful and they had hearty portions on the plate, including the proteins! Everything was cooked well, and am overall pleased with the food that was prepared. We happened upon this Italian restaurant by chance. The place was flooding in with people all at the same time but they handled all of us really well and very polite and friendly staff. We were seated in the bar area and the bartender was our waitress. We asked for recommendations and chose the "Taste of Italy" and Frank Sinatra with angel hair pasta. We started with Caesar salad and caprice salad. We sampled some specialty drinks that were delicious and interesting too. Too full to sample any desserts but they have a big selection to choose from. Overall it was very good. Service was a little slow but it was busy. We were happy to get in right away. Wait.... We did decide on dessert and chose the Tuscan Tiramisu! Absolutely Wonderful, Authentic Italian! I was visiting family in Wake Forest and stumbled upon this gem -- and wow, what a find! The food here is truly authentic Italian and absolutely delicious. We ordered the Rigatoni Al Pacino and the Tortellini Genovese -- both were creamy, rich, and full of flavor. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. The bread tasted homemade, warm and perfectly soft, and the salads were incredibly fresh with just the right amount of dressing. Portions are huge, so come hungry or plan to take leftovers! The service was warm and welcoming, and the whole experience made me feel like I'd found a little slice of Italy right here in North Carolina. I'd seen this restaurant for years and sheets intended to try it. Today we are there for lunch. The atmosphere was nice and calm. The hostess and waiter were very friendly and attentive. We had the calamari, which was perfectly cooked. It was served hot and was very tender with just the right amount of breading. I had the Chicken Veneziano. It was excellent. The chicken cutlet was tender and the mushroom sauce was great. I thought the prices were a little high, but definitely enjoyed the meal and recommend it. Was it great? No. Was it good? Yes! The Vodka chicken parm was delicious, crispy, cheesy, and the sauce was perfect. The Caesar salad was good, as was the antipasto. The marinara sauce was a little tart, could have used something to make it more sweet. The service was friendly and attentive, but the bus service was a little obnoxious. It's ok if there is an empty plate on my table, I'd prefer to enjoy my dinner conversation uninterrupted (repeatedly). It's a loud space, but has a homey feel. Will likely be back again. read more

This is the first negative review I've ever written, which speaks to just how disappointing our experience was. From the moment we walked in, things felt off. The hostess seemed overwhelmed and didn't seat us herself, instead passing us off to a server. The bread came out before the appetizer, and it was extremely dry. Then came the calamari, which was rubbery and inedible. We even tried to eat it but couldn't. We shared our disappointment with the server, yet she still left the calamari on our bill. Our entrées took an hour to arrive, and the restaurant wasn't even half full--it was maybe one-fourth occupied--so being busy wasn't the reason for the delay. Unfortunately, the wait wasn't worth it. The pasta had a strange texture, almost like gluten-free pasta gone wrong, and the eggplant parmesan was sub-par. My husband's spaghetti had an odd aftertaste. For a $75 meal, we expected much better. The server made no effort to address our dissatisfaction, and overall, the entire experience was disappointing from start to finish. As a long-time local food blogger, I usually avoid writing negative reviews--but in this case, it was bad enough that I felt compelled to share. Take out pizza on a rainy Sunday. Was a little slower than they said but they did seem to have a bunch of take out orders at the time. Dining roomed moderately busy. Anyway, the important part was very good pizza. All the ingredients we added seemed fresh and nicely dispersed - hate when it's all piled in the middle - this was much more evenly placed around the whole pizza. Decided to try a couple of entrees a few wks later. It was all good but I found the red tomato sauce a little bland. The pasta cheese and fillings were tasty enough just need to punch up the richness of the sauce to get the 5 th star. Lived in So Flo where we had some really good Italian restaurants. Our fav was a very low brow place that did a very homey tasting preparation and sauces were just impeccable with rich bright flavors. Unfortunately I ate at il Bacio Italian Grill this week. The calarmari was overcooked and rubbery. Absolutely set the tone for a bad meal. In my opinion, the cook needs to go back to cooking school. My food ' a taste of varies Italian dishes" lasagna, chicken parmagina & manicotti made me regret eating here. The lasagna was cold in the middle. The manicotti melted from " high" microwaving. It was a mush mess. My husband said his dish was ok - some kind of sausage pasta dish. The bill was over $80 for a simple dinner. We left our normal 20%- not the servers fault food is marginal. Didn't even get a garden salad here or any bread. What kind of Italian restaurant doesn't serve bread? My husband and I have sworn we will not speak of this again & go elsewhere for an Italian meal. read more

Never going again. Mediocre food, super expensive, $25 for a lasagna, $18 for an alfredo, and not even homemade pasta or fresh homemade sauce. The bread was terrible and the butter was brought in little packaged butter. The service was the worst part, no silverware, they didnt bring bread until we asked after we had ordered food and for the refill of my coke they took my used glass to refill it and left the old ice. Went here for a family gathering where my sister in law picked the restaurant. I looked it up and saw the less than stellar reviews on Yelp. I went into it with a low expectation. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. We had a group of 6. Bread and appetizers came out quick. The entrees all came out within a few minutes of each other. Me, my sister and our friend went to dinner here and it was quick we were sat down quickly as there were not many people in the restaurant. So we sat down and our waiter goes to hand us the dinner menus and proceeded to say "I'm not going to give you the drinks menu none of yall look old enough" even though we are all over 21 and we said that we were and he goes well I'm gonna have to see some IDs which we didn't even want to at the point. None of us really even wanted to eat there but we were already there and sat. It was the waiter (believe it was a man) with a ponytail. I have to say I will never be eating here again just because it was completely uncalled for and weird to just assume we are under 21 and not even put all of the menus on the table. Nice Italian restaurant located in a strip mall. Just ordered a small Caesar salad with pizza to share. The server was pretty busy as there was a party and she was doing double duty as hostess and serving. She was very sweet and very much on her game. I enjoy this spot for good Italian cuisine. I'm thinking their pizza might be most popular though because when I visit I see lots of pizza orders being made and picked up, although I've never tried it before. I ordered the grilled chicken fettuccine Alfredo but the chicken was not grilled which (for me) took away some of the flavor. The Alfredo sauce was good though, I just personally don't like the flavor of sautéed chicken. It's quite bland. I sometimes order the ravioli which is great! All personal preferences. Food is pretty good. Management is inexperienced and/or poor. We ate dinner there on Friday, and asked for soft butter from the kitchen and our waitress had to ask her manager who told her no. Wow..,that was dreadful. The Caprese salad had half ripe tomatoes, something hard to find in July. My chicken parm was sitting in a pool of marinara juice, not sauce, making the breading pointless. The accompanying pasta was mushy, far from al dente. My wife's pasta dish was too salty and had mushy pasta, as well. The iced tea was pretty good though. And the bill was over $90 with tip. The first time we went a couple of months ago, we ordered eggplant parmigiana hero for lunch and it was far from authentic Italian. I would rate it a high end bowling alley food. It was somewhat tasty, but not authentic Italian and for the price of $40 (with tip) for 2 heros, definitely was not worth it. We always try things a few times because sometimes people/cooks have bad days. We went back this weekend and ordered a medium NY style pizza. We love the decor and the music was perfect. Great mix of great music. The waitress, Denise, was awesome. She's very personable and good at what she does. The pizza came out within 10 minutes and was good. I might add the sauce seemed a little tangy like from a can and didn't have much seasoning , but the pizza crust was pretty good. I've had better pizza, and much worse pizza. The ambiance, decor and friendliness of staff made us feel at home and we'll probably be back to try something else. Just a suggestion: Maybe not be a stingy with napkins or lemon slices. We had water with lemon and when I asked for extra lemon for my water refill, I was given one very small piece. (1/4 inch thick sliver). If we didn't return this weekend, it would have been a one star. Maybe if we return again, it will be better. read more

We are fairly new to Wake Forest. We had been passing this place often, and I decided to take Norma there for a date night earlier this month. We love to try the locally owned (meaning non-franchise owned chain for clarity) places. This place is not fancy , because it is a grill And bar, but it has very pleasant atmosphere. The service is outstanding! Our server Jacky was a real hoot! We loved talking and joking with her. The rest of the staff that we met could not have been friendlier or more welcoming. We started with some Calamari. Top notch! I dont remember who had which, because we both had a taste of each others dish. Rigatoni Franchesca For one and Penne in a vodka sauce. Both were excellent! Had a miserable experience at Il Bacio. My son ordered a pizza, my wife eggplant parmesan, and I the Osso Buco special. My son was almost done with his pizza when my Osso Buco arrived. I was done with my Osso Buco before my wife's eggplant parmesan arrived. At that point, we canceled her dinner. What made this worse was a table of 10 near us received all of their meals at the same time and a couple who arrived after us and ordered after us got both of their meals before I got my Osso Buco. Don't know if the kitchen staff is incompetent, our server is incompetent, or if the restaurant management is incompetent to allow what happened to us. While the food was good, I'm not sure we're willing to give Il Bacio another chance to ruin our meal. read more
