I am so happy to find a place in Wake Forest that not only has delicious bread for their subs but also knows how to properly cheese their menu items. I've had pizza and now this steak Philly from Schiano's and both were delicious and cheesy. I recommend calling ahead because this popular take out spot gets super busy and I noticed has tons of regulars. There are a few dining tables if you prefer to eat there but as I was waiting on my food, I noticed everyone picked it up to go. I can't wait to go back and try their meatball sub now that I know how phenomenal their bread is, it would make a perfect vessel for a meatball sub! No complaints! read more

Tried out Schiano last night after finding it thru a google search and OMG this place is amazing! This Pizzeria is hands down the best Pizzeria is all of Wake Forest and perhaps the Triangle. Originally from NY born and raised 25 yrs before moved to NC and been looking for a quality NY Style Pizza place for the longest! Their pizzas are large slices, fair priced and the garlic knots and marinara sauce are to die for! Probably one of the best sauces I have ever had tbh Will def be a regular from now on, cant believe have lived here for 10 years and never knew about Schianos!! If you want incredibly good quality pizza in an area where the rest of the pizza places are terrible quality or a corporate chain. I've had pizza in NYC, Chicago, UK, Italy, aging Kong, and many other places globally. The Lasagne pizza is the best pizza I've ever had.

Can you take over the Strickland Road location? That place is a complete disaster. The food is terrible, and the service is even worse. I've given it four chances--once two years ago, when the food was great, but since then, it has gone downhill. Each visit has been worse than the last. The guy behind the counter seems angrier every time, swearing and making inappropriate comments in front of children. It's unacceptable. read more

Here's my honest review: Flavorless crappy pizza with barely any cheese (see picture) Large slices Restaurant tables were dirty, I bussed our table myself Asked for a box twice*, employee forgot first time and after waiting 10 minutes, I got up and asked him again Overpriced for the quality that you get (bad quality) We gave them a try and it was a "one and done". Very disappointing. Wasted $18+ on four pieces plus two sodas. * Brought two of four pieces home, nobody wanted them after seeing them, threw both leftover pieces away. Hi there. Not sure why the sour reviews, Schiano's pizza is really good! We ordered an 18" pepperoni, mushroom, olive with a side of jalapeños and I thought it to be spectacular. I look forward to going back. The chefs were super nice and as one of them opened the box for us to see our pizza, my first thought was why does this place have poor reviews? So I have never been to New York but after dinner at Schiano's, out of Wake Forest, NC I feel there is no need to make the trip just for a slice of pizza. The other night I picked up a pie topped with Pepperoni, Sausages, and Bacon and it was hands down absolutely superb. From the perfectly cooked handmade dough that provided an unbelievable crunch in everybite, to the delicious sauce which had unique yet amazing flavors that aroused my pallet, it took me on a trip to pizza paradise. The pie had the perfect amount of cheese on it, just enough to get that cheese flavor, but not overpowering to take away from the other pizza flavors. When you put it all together you get a perfect pizza, one that I highly recommend. Besides the amazing food, what I enjoyed was the service. Working the front counter was the sweetest lady, who I think would come straight from Italy. As soon as I walked in she gave me such a warm greeting and I immediately felt like family. What I find trying amazing was how much the pizzaiolo (one who makes the pizza) takes pride in his work. While waiting in line for my order the pizzaiolo came out with an order for a younger guy. He handed him his order and told the guy not to stack the bag on top of the pizza. He quickly gave him a pondering look and said "ok why". He told him that it would put to much pressure on the top and force the top of the pizza box down and cause the cheese to stick to top of the lid. That right there shows a true passion for what they create. You can tell they really want every customer to have an amazing experience. read more

Stopped in today for lunch. Special #1 is a slice and a drink. Fair warning - the slice here is twice the size of a slice anywhere else in town. Excellent, NY style pizza. Crunchy crust, right ratio of sauce to cheese. I felt like I was back home in NJ. Good stuff! read more

Very small spot in gateway commons beside Gooey's and Edible arrangements. i was sitting in the parking lot deciding what to get with the vast majority of options to choose from and my partner told me Schiano's had the best pizza slices so we went with it! THE SLICES ARE HUGE! i got two slices and couldn't even finish one so be prepared! you are most definitely getting what you paid for. We got the wings to share and i think they might be my favorite thing. Battered and deep fried, my mouth was watering the whole ride home smelling the buffalo sauce they are very juicy and tender on the inside came right off the bone and they also had desserts which i didn't see on the menu so next time i pop in i'll have to get a order of Zeppoles! Overall very satisfied with the service and food from today's lunch trip. read more

If you grew up in Raleigh in the 70s and 80s, you probably grabbed a slice at Schiano's at Crabtree after picking up a couple $1 45s at The Record Bar. I was driving through Wake Forest, saw the same name on a shop in Gateway Commons, and had to stop. Turns out, it's the same pizza place. I ordered a slice of sausage. The gigantic slice was just as good as I remembered. It still had that thinly sliced sausage and crispy crust. An amazing find! I'll be back! read more

Back in the late 70s my wife then girlfriend and I use to eat lunch at Crabtree mall at a pizza Restaurant named Schiano's. Best pizza in town and I'm from Chicago and she is from New York These two places are known for their foods especially their pizza. It had been closed down for many years as far as we knew. Two years ago, we saw a pizza restaurant by the name of Schiano's in Wake Forest North Carolina {948 Gate Commons Cir.} It did not register that this could be the same place. To our surprise the husband had long passed away God bless his soul, but his wife and son opened up the business. Still the great tasting pizza great tasting food and they make you feel like your family. I give them an overall 5+ rating and spread their name everywhere I go. Went in there for a slice of pizza today and the one worker in there is making pizza with no mask or gloves! Even asked him about it and he replied " yep, no mask or gloves" as if proud of it. Sep 14 6:35pm Ordered three slices and while waiting for them to be finished I saw 6-7 live maggots on the floor and several dead ones. I told the guy working there who tried to tell me the maggots were coming from a trash can right outside the door. I looked at the trash can. No maggots in or around it. I then cancelled my order of three slices. This guy had the nerve to get upset and told me to get out. I would have taken photos but I was kicked out of the place. I ordered delivery from this place. I've ordered from here in the past and loved their pizza. So I wanted good food that delivered. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak, an Italian sub, wings and a caprese salad. My cheesesteak was incredible, one of the absolute best I've had here. My husbands Italian sub was excellent. The wings were perfectly flavored, big and juicy. The caprese is where my entire experience was thrown off. When our delivery arrived, I grabbed the containers and took them to the kitchen. The very first one I opened was a regular salad... eggs, bacon, ham, peppers. I only had four boxes so I knew they messed up. I called the restaurant and she said no we made a caprese. I said yeah no. This is not caprese. This is a regular salad. When I told her what was in it I could hear the lady reprimanding the kitchen staff. She told me that she'd have them make a caprese salad and bring it to me. Okay cool I don't have to drive and get it. Perfect. I'm nearly eight months pregnant and I don't want to move. But I really was craving a caprese salad. So, sure enough, they delivered my caprese salad. But it had lettuce in it and no basil. That was shocking to me. I'm Sicilian myself so I didn't quite understand why the salad was made that way. So I decided I was just going to eat it. I wasn't going to call another time to complain. Well, one bite into my "fresh" mozzarella and I knew it was spoiled. It was so bad. I ended up throwing my food away. The only reason I've given this place two stars is because our sandwiches and our wings were fabulous. The rest was disgusting and a terrible experience. I will never go back to this location. Friend treated me to lunch with a whole lot of hyperbole. Stating Schiano's provides the best and largest slices in the area...We arrived for lunch and each ordered from the daily special options:1 Cheese and drink=4.99, 1 Pepperoni, 1 Bacon and drink=7.99 plus .99 per topping. Cashier was sweet and personable. She explained that we were eating at the Takeout location (explaining the limited seating)and that her Son runs a Restaurant with the same name and full menu on Strickland Rd in Raleigh. Pizza took a hot minute to prepare.. but when it arrived I realized my friend was definitely correct about the size.#sizematters. Colossal slices with the toppings piled on top! Tasted great noting the rich quality of the cheese. So rich I was only able to eat one slice. Fast forward 7 hours, I just ate my second slice, cold, and it was equally as good. I am a definite Schiano's fan and look forward to checking out the Raleigh location. read more
