Had dinner at Il Bosco Pizza tonight and sat out on the patio -- great setting for a relaxed evening. Service was excellent and the pizza really delivered. We started with the spinach kale salad. We ordered it without dressing, but it came out with Caesar already on it -- they quickly fixed it with a new one, no issues. We also had two pizzas: the Juana with sausage, serrano chiles, and sweet onions, and the Morena with prosciutto, burrata, and arugula. Both were baked perfectly with a great crust and solid sauce. A really good spot for a nice night out and quality pizza. read more

We were shopping at Trader Joe's and had been meaning to stop by here - luckily they were kind to take our take out order about 30 mins prior to opening on a Sunday morning. There were many pizzas to choose from and if they had the same base, you're able to order a split pie. The server was friendly and recommended a few combinations and we went with a split red sauce one along with a tiramisu. I did air fry the slice when I was home just because I personally love a crispy slice and while I can't recall the flavors we got, I don't think it was memorable. The tiramisu was average and for nearly $10, not quite worth it. I would be willing to try again, perhaps a white sauce pizza, if I'm in the area! read more

We have been to the Roosevelt Row IL Bosco, so I already knew that we would like it. This location is in a great shopping center in Tempe, surrounded by a Trader Joe's and Changing Hands Bookstore. There's a dog friendly patio outside, an indoors there's a nice bar. They have a Christmas tree set up in the corner which was so cute with pizza and bar ornaments all over. Son got a Peroni, please go to whenever we are in an Italian restaurant. We decided to split the chopped salad and a pizza. There is a $2.00 fee for splitting the salad, but that's fair because I think when they put it into bowls you get more salad. Unfortunately, I did not read the menu very carefully. It clearly states that it has balsamic, and I do not like balsamic, so my son got the entire salad. The pizzas our 12-in pizzas, which are really perfect for two people to share. They allow you to get half and half, as long as it has the same base (i.e. red sauce). We ordered the Dona on one half, and the Joanna on the other half. As expected, the pizza was delicious. I really like the crust there which is chewy and so good. Our server was very sweet and the food came out pretty quickly. Finally stopped in to try the new Tempe location! A small spot, but still a decent amount of seating both inside and outside, with options to sit at the bar. I went for the Valentina (bottom) and my husband ordered the Joanna (top), and we shared the chop salad. Overall, we thought the dough and sauce were missing a little bit of flavor, although I will say i enjoyed my leftovers a bit more the following day because of the honey on mine. I'd say so! - Aria Pizza (EEVO white base, Four cheese, sliced lemon, Burrata, balsamic, prosciutto, basil): If you had the lemon pizza at Luna by Giada de Laurentiis, this isn't it. But it is a lovely pizza with all the citrus lemon flavor you want. I would get this pizza over and over again as a lemon lover. - Alba Pizza (Truffle oil base, caramelized onions, cremini mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, fresh chives, honey drizzle - vegetarian): If you're on a date, maybe pass on this pizza. It's delicious and flavorful but strong on all the notes you might not want if you want to breathe around others. - ZA Pizza (Red sauce, pepperoni, spicy sausage, hatch green chile, peppadew peppers, Calabrian Chile, mozz, honey drizzle): Always a banger. If you like spice, you'll love this pizza. I love a good hot honey situation so this was delish. - Stuffed Zucchini Flowers (Breaded, cheese and zucchini, with rosemary and honey drizzle): I wasn't expecting the hard thick crust on the outside but I'm not mad. We stopped in to Il Bosco at 11:25 on a Sunday to grab a quick lunch before a matinee at Gammage. They don't open until 11:30 so we waited outside for a few minutes. Our server was great. They're really accommodating about sharing salads and halving pizzas. The pizza menu is a super fun A to Z listing. Each pizza is 12" and perfect for two people. We got the kale Caesar and the Aria. Both were perfect. The lemon on the pizza was so good--an unexpected pop of flavor. My friend had a glass of wine and I was pleased that there was more than one NA beer on offer. Our bill was about $50 for a salad, a pizza, and two drinks. Il Bosco is a welcome addition to the food scene in south Tempe. So happy to see a higher end pizza place--go try it so we can keep them. read more

I've been excited for this to open but I am feeling kinda meh on it. It was fine. Service was friendly and there was a nice variety of drink options, though more beer/wine/cocktails than interesting non-alcoholic choices. There is a hibiscus black iced tea that my friend said was really good. For salads there is a caprese, a chopped salad, and two Ceasar salads. I wish there were more of a green salad -- if you don't like Ceasar and want something fresh and green and light with your pizza, kinda out of luck. We got the toasted ravioli which seemed kind of sad. Presentation was very 1980s Pizza Hut, as are the plates. I care more about the food but I couldn't help but notice the cheap cafeteria plates. I got a half and half pizza -- love that they have this option! I found the crust quite soggy. The sausage was just ok and was cooked to where its very small pieces. I love onion but it was a lot and very sweet and soft. They do have a happy hour so I'll come back and try the meatballs. read more

Came on a Sunday for dinner and cocktails. Although we arrived prior to rush, service we received was quite slow and slim. Finally someone approached our table to take a drink order, when beverages were delivered the ice water I had specifically requested didn't arrive with the other drinks. When asking for a minute more to decide it was like we were then forgotten. Eventuallt we ordered a charcuterie board to start. I will say the cheese was cut into such small pieces it was ridiculous. The tiny cubes and crumbles were more of the size of the chunks of Bleu you might have in a salad dressing. Pizza then ordered, which is tasty. Combinations a little different than the norm. Especially liked the crust which was light, airy, crispy and just nicely done. Fairly decent wine options. Full bar and cocktail suggestions on board by window. Back to the service. Hardly came by to check on how we were doing, refill empty glasses, or remove unused plates, cleared charcuterie board. Finally when it was time to drop a bill, no bill was even presented for us to review. The girl just came to table with electronic device to collect payment. I asked, don't we get a bill and it was then that she offered to show me. When I ordered the ZA pizza I noticed price was 18.90 or something like that. Her device displayed a charge of $1 more than what the menu had listed. So they're over charging for at least one item. Really disappointed with the lousy service, not being presented either a bill to review, OR a minute to do just thar, AND being overcharged for at least one item. read more

09/05/2025 Highly recommend making a reservation. My friend and I did not have a reservation on a Friday at 6:15pm, and it was jam packed inside. Fortunately a table was available on the patio. They don't have misters on the patio, so it was quite warm. We started with the Bruschetta ($10.90) - fig/brie/apples, honey prosciutto/chopped fig, and roasted pep & goat cheese. The Gabriella pizza ($17.90) was so good - red sauce, pepperoni, hatch green chile, mozzarella. Love the little kick from the hatch chile, but maybe don't get that if you're sitting outside in warm temps because I was starting to sweat. Tiramisu is one of our favorite desserts, so we had to try it here ($9.90), and it was the perfect end to our meal. After we got our food, we didn't see our server for a little while - I know it was busy inside, but don't forget about the guests on the patio! Overall though we had a good time. Went to Il Bosco for a birthday dinner on Friday. We had a reservation for 4 but had a last minute addition which they were able to accommodate without a delay. The ambiance is rustic with concrete floors and a large dark wood bar to the left side. We ordered a Caesar salad, caprese salad and 3 pizzas. The caprese is a little different riff with cherry tomatoes and burata cheese. Delicious. The pizzas are all Neapolitan style cooked in a wood fired oven. Lots of unique options along with build your own option. I really enjoyed the ZA pizza which has a bit of everything. The staff seemed to all be younger and maybe a bit under-trained. A few mix ups on the pizzas which they eventually got straightened out. We did not see a manager, but there may OK have been one on duty, not sure. I first discovered Il Bosco Pizza at the original Scottsdale location in October 2018. My family and I went there, and we felt it was worth the drive. We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, the friendly service, and some of the best pizza I have ever had. I had the Joanna pizza, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Another thing I liked was the versatility of the pizza selection on their menu. However, I did not have any of their desserts during my first visit, but figured I could try them the next time I was in the area. I did not revisit them for nearly five years, and I wish I had not had such a long drought between visits. A friend of my family and I went there after I recommended Il Bosco, after he mentioned he was looking for a good pizza place he had never been to before, to try out. I ordered a ZA pizza, and it was delicious. While I do not remember what my family friend ordered, he thought it was great pizza as well. Since I had not had their desserts before, I had some vanilla gelato. It was some of the best gelato I have ever had. Intense flavor and nice and rich. With how much I enjoyed Il Bosco, I hoped they would eventually open a location closer to where I live. When I heard about them opening a new location in Tempe, I was full of anticipation. The Tempe location opened on August 11th, but I did not get the chance to visit until today. One of my closest friends joined me, along with his girlfriend; we had a great time. Even with the new location, the high quality remained intact. Our server was friendly and always ensured we had everything we needed. I had some vanilla gelato with chocolate sauce on top. While it was great on its own, I will now opt for the gelato with chocolate sauce going forward, as it makes it even better. Il Bosco Pizza is one of the finest pizzerias in Arizona, and I will never have another long drought between visits ever again. They are just too good. I am looking forward to future visits. After seeing the "coming soon" banner during many Trader Joe's runs, we were so excited that Il Bosco has finally opened! They have a few other locations, but we hadn't been to any of them making this a true first impression of the restaurant. It was very lively, lots of families so it was quite loud with a few kids running around. The space is also a little small so if you are planning on having a group of 6 or more, make sure to get a reservation when they start to take those. Our server was very sweet and took feedback very well, letting us know that it was all appreciated as the kitchen was still working things out to make the best pizza possible. We started off with the bruschetta which was 3 different toasts each split into 3 pieces. The crust was nicely toasted, but the middle started to become a bit soft since just the top was toasted instead of both sides. The divina pizza was very tasty, and great for those who love big flavor and LOTS of heat. We had to end up taking off pieces of the Serrano pepper as they were a bit too much on some slices. A good place to visit if you're a fan of thin crust, which I am, but needed to eat the first 1/2 of each piece with a knife and fork since it fell apart. I appreciated how each pizza had a wine pairing listed on the menu as well. The super Tuscan with our divina pizza was delicious! 1/2 off bottles of wine is a great deal and good to pair with a pizza for date night. read more

Finally the long-awaited Il Bosco, opened only 4 short miles away from our house. The services was good like the Roosevelt location, not as homey inside though. The pizza is just as good though, which was most important. Its not the cheapest place for pizza since pizzas can be individual or shared by two small people, or with smaller appetites. We recently visited the new Il Bosco Pizza in Tempe and the pizza itself was absolutely fantastic--fresh ingredients, great flavors, and definitely worth coming back for. That said, the new location seems to be working through some growing pains. When we called ahead, we were told they don't take reservations, but when we arrived, several tables were marked reserved. On top of that, we were told "you're next" multiple times but ended up waiting over 45 minutes before finally being seated--only to be met with a "oops, sorry" explanation. It was a frustrating start, but once we finally sat down, the food really delivered. The quality of the pizza makes it clear why Il Bosco has such a great reputation, and I'm hopeful that once the team works out the kinks with communication and seating, this new location will live up to the same high standard as the food. read more

Everyone raves about Il Bosco. I have tried it twice, and it is good, but it does not blow me away. I will also say that if you do want to be good, it absolutely must be eaten fresh. Even if you have it delivered and it's lukewarm, it loses a lot of the flavor. I will say the crust is good. And if you go to the location on McClintock and Guadalupe, there is tons of parking. Food was sooooo good, our server however was rude and impatient. We've been here a bunch and never had issues with service, in fact they're usually incredibly friendly, but this blonde girl was rude. Maybe it's because we're a lesbian couple, I don't know what her issue was because she was friendly with every family table around us, but hardly greeted us and took things away the second the last bite was off of our plate without asking if we had finished. When it came time to pay she practically sprinted over with her toast tab and hovered while we paid. Just felt very rushed and rude. I reached out to the restaurant a week before a business dinner of 15 people to Jeff. He was great to work with. We ate on the patio and it was chilly but the heaters warmed everyone up quickly. We ordered family style. A few large salads, a few orders of bruschetta, and 6 pizzas. Everyone got a taste of everything. It was amazing!!!! Everyone was so pleased and raved all night about how good the food was. "You have to try this one!" was a common phrase throughout the evening. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. Overall it was an alright experience. The Pizza was good. The Caprese Salad was just a huge pile of cheese with a little bit of Cheri tomato. When we told the waitress we thought it was a salad that had lettuce, she laughed and said that's what makes it so good, that it surprises people that it is just cheese. (?) I thought some bread would have at least been called for. Our waitress definitely needed more training or something. It seemed we got on her bad side and she went out of her way to not serve us. When she finally did come back to give us the electronic machine for the check, it was unable to give below a 20% and she stood over my shoulder to look at everything I did in regards to that. Went in around 3:30 on a Saturday. Ordered the Maria and the Adriana (margherita). Marg was perfectly fine but nothing remarkable. The Maria however was phenomenal, super fresh toppings and the pesto was lovely. Overall, really solid Neapolitan pies. The tiramisu comes in on a truck which is super disappointing, an Italian bistro should have no problem making their tiramisu. The lack of house made desert was the only disappointment of the night. Prompt service, chill ambiance, and good eats. We will be back, hopefully next time they'll have some homemade desert! read more

She actually just phoned me to ask if I had picked up my pie which I did indeed do, ate and enjoyed it mostly (a tiny bit dry but I liked it). I cannot understand the 'rave reviews', unless this is being compared to your typical mediocre E. Valley restaurant. Let me preface, at the risk of ire, that although I live in the E. Valley, I don't eat in the E. Valley. I needed to get a home delivery, however, so could not go to my usual Scottsdale or Phx. restaurants and I saw this pop up as new on UberEATS. I kick myself every single time I take a yelp recommendation. I NEVER post reviews but this was such horrible food, that I just had to. First, the "Caesar salad"- sorry, in no universe is this a Caesar salad. The lettuce was pale and of such poor quality, that it was totally devoid of any flavor. The croutons were not only NOT homemade, but tasted of old, soaked, oil as if they had been used many times and just heated up. The dressing was NOTHING like a Caesar; it seemed to have some sort of sweet mayonnaise as it's base, with not a hint of garlic or anchovy. The shaved "parmesan" was some cheap parmesan, not a good Reggiano. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. The pizza- I got the "Bella", which I was hoping may be similar to Doughbird's White Truffle pizza, NOOOO- first, the dough was very thin and totally limp and droopy, even after putting in the oven, and lacked any kind of taste. The cheese again was some low quality cheese and for some reason the mushrooms had a sweet taste, I have no idea what that was. I tried adding arugula, hot pepper flakes, fresh anchovies, nothing could give that " cardboard with melted cheese " any flavor. And, for the final nail in the coffin, I got the cannoli. Seriously?? This was like some thick piece of dough that seemed like a rolled up pita with some sickeningly sweet canned filling and some horrible cheap chocolate syrup on top. I cannot believe I spent the money I did, instead of just driving to one of the high quality restaurants, not in the E. Valley. I am so tired of no restaurants to go to out here- they are either chain institutional fare, or really poorly done individual owned restaurants. I don't mind driving but it is a bummer that one cannot get delivery service out here, except from the poor restaurants....obviously the bar is extremely low out here, so the continuation of mediocre food just continues....disgraceful, quite frankly. read more
