Went there for New Years Eve with my girlfriend and have to say this was by far the worst restaurant experience i ever had. Let's start with the few good things - the staff at least tried to do a good service and be friendly although the language barrier sometimes lead to weird misunderstandings. We ordered veal - one was the special for the night. The food tasted straight out plain and disgusting. No seasoning whatsoever on both plates and the meat had a weird aftertaste. Both plates came with the same blend assortment of veggies as a side which was more decoration than anything else. At the end we were presented with a horrendous bill due to the fact that the special was $40 !! which the waiter of course did not mention when ordering and the the charge per glass of cheap white table whine was $12 !! Typical case of a place with a nice outside (pillars in front) and disappointing inside. At least we will now be able to value good restaurants again. read more

Terrible food. The waiters are rude and arrogant. Portions are skimpy and the place is a ripoff. They more than likely get their products from the same place as any other restaurant but yet they feel their food is worth charging well above what other restaurants charge. If the food was good it would be worth it but it is pure garbage. The owner thinks who the hell he is and the best part of it all is that he is not even Italian. He is Albanian. They have no food so they have to pretend to be Italian considering they are neighbors to the Italians and these people at this place are good at sucking up to people throwing in Italian phrases here and there to fool them but a real Italian catches on to their fake accent.Everybody stop referring to and calling this Italian food. It is not. You need an Italian Owner and an Italian chef to push out real authentic Italian food not a bunch of phonies. read more

me, my wife & our 4 month old baby went here mothers day for lunch. It was kind of last minute when other plans fell thru. And i understand kind of annoying w/ a stroller. But the wait staff & maitre'd welcomed us & made us feel welcomed. 1st off the valet parking is a nice touch. Now the food. It was really good. definitely get the table side made caesar salad. 1 of the best i've had. also we ordered baked clams for an app, also very good. For dinner my wife had a pasta dish & i had a fish special that was d-boned at the table. Both dishes were really good. prices were good all around, the restaurant is spacious and well lit. and like i said the wait staff was very attentive. i recommend this restaurant and we will be going back again soon. read more

My family and I celebrated my sons baptism today. We had a group of twenty and everyone loved it! The hospitality food and service was great. We enjoyed branzino filleted table side , salmon, chicken ,veal, all amazing. Grilled veggies with goat cheese fried calamari, and fresh mozzarella with roasted peppers and tomatoes so delicious. We had great wine and array of drinks . Leni is very nice and super accommodating! The staff was very attentive and didn't miss a beat. Purpose of visit: Friday night dinner with friends. 3 couples. One of our friends suggested this place based on an old school zagat review. Arrived and it was much smaller than expected. Very intimate, we have a dnice corner round table. Service was prompt and efficient. Not too intrusive but readily available. We ordered oysters, a nice green salad, clams and mussells in a garlic broth, some beef tartar. Clams and mussels were nicely prepared and the broth was very tasty. Dipped a few pieces of bread in it. Main course was a stuffed veal with brocolli rabe and provolone. Special of the night. I aksed for medium rare and it was prepared nicely. Mosit and tender, broccolli rabe was crunchy and added nice balance. Desert was strawberried and cream. We stayed for over 2 hours, closing the place down. Atmosphere was lively and the food very good. We felt very comfortable and felt a little guilty closing down the place. It is a very alternative to going into NYC for an old school italian meal. Went there with my elderly relatives. They are regulars and good tippers. They are also regularly over-charged. The food doesn't warrant the high prices. The servers were obsequious to the person they knew was paying the bill but literally leaned over me and stepped on my foot to get to him. Several times the staff had their derrière too close to my face. When I didn't like my food the owner said there was nothing wrong with it (without tasting how over-spiced it was) and didn't offer to exchange or take it off the bill. I'm neither difficult nor a child and his behavior was offensive. Never again. read more

This tasty little gem is a personal favorite. It is unassuming upon entry, and yet consistently impresses us with food that is fresh, homemade, and served with such great personal attention. If one is looking for uber-fancy unidentifiable foamy stuff, this is not the place. The choices at Il Castello are many, traditional, and superbly well prepared, making it a must for all occasions in my family. Whether we go alone or with the kids, the experience is great. We made a reservation a week in advance for 14 people. The reservation was confirmed they day prior. Upon arrival of our group 10 minutes before reservation time. The person at the door proceeds to tell us he has to get the manager. They then tell us that they tried to call us same day to confirm and since they couldn't get a hold of us they assumed they we weren't coming and it would be a long wait. Manager walks again and seat 2 group of 4. Manager came out two more times each time he seemed more and more negative about the possibility to seat us even though we had a reservation. It seemed pretty obvious they did not want to seat our group that was a bit more ethnic than their currently seated guests. Very rude unprofessional m y reservation was made via opentable. I am a VIP user on opentable, it's appalling that they would have treated anyone this way. RACIST!!! read more

Il Castillo is a nice Italian restaurant in an area chock full of Italian restaurants. I'd describe the food as upscale Italian, but it's not unreasonably priced. My wife and I went on a weekend evening and both enjoyed our meals. My only complaint was that the dining area is small, and toward the end of our meal the place had completely filled up, so people were waiting to be seated. Since there really is no waiting area, I felt like people were standing over my shoulder as I ate. I suggest going on a weeknight. Either way, you'll enjoy well prepared traditional Italian food. read more

We went to Il Castello to celebrate a birthday, based on its good Yelp reviews, and were very pleased. The valet parking was quick and easy, and we loved being seated at a round table for our party of five. They also have a round ten-top, great for larger parties. Although the restaurant was full, the service was excellent -- attentive but not hovering, and the prices reasonable for a quality meal. I would have given five stars but while the food was very good, not all dishes were excellent. The eggplant rollatini got rave reviews, as did several other dishes (veal, crab cake, arugula salad) while several other dishes were good but not outstanding. I ordered the mussels appetizer, which was tasty, but with a bland sauce. Overall, a wonderful evening; we would definitely return. read more

I went here the other night. I am not a fan of this place at all. The food is way overpriced and the staff is very fake. I mean it in the sense that they are being nice to you simply because they want to make money off of you and not because they really care. I just did not feel comfortable eating there. This is our go to Italian restaurant. It never ever disappoints. We are regulars, perhaps they treat us special because of this. Lenny the host is charming and friendly. The staff are all uber professional and they do things a bit old school, but I mean that in a good way. Dinner is never rushed. You can sit and have a cocktail and nibble on the bread basket, then listen to the specials which are what we always order because the are always awesome. Some favorites, burrata, baked clams, branzino, pork chop, scallops with risotto. Everything is wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. You will want for nothing at Il Castello, they take very good care of you. It can be a little cramped when packed, as it's a small and intimate place. But it's never a bother. Yummy... Great service and delicious food. Starter of figs with prosciutto, stuffed artichoke, escargot and octopus were all delicious. Main course of homemade pappardelle, veal chop with salad, whole branzino fish filleted in front of you, veal colombo, and veal siciliano all delicious. Best after all the delicious food was dessert - strawberries with zambagion made fresh by host, Lenny. My family really enjoyed this meal. I wish there was a choice of more stars. A friend invited me here for a birthday dinner and it was possibly THE BEST Italian food I have had outside of Italy. The service was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The cocktails were scrumptious and perfectly complimented by a yummy breadbasket and bowl of salty cured olives. An octopus appetizer (a special,) was the perfect introduction to the chef's deft hand. Served on a bed of sauteed escarole and canneloni beans, the meat was sweet and tender, not at all chewy. I order octopus in all sorts of restaurants and while I enjoy the char flavor of the grill, this made me realize how often I miss the sweetness of the octopus itself and taste only char. An entree of Branzino Francese continued the theme of balance and discretion. While I am a lemon freak and love Sole Francese, Branzino is such a flavorful fish I hesitated ordering this preparation. Thanks to our waiter I went for it and was SO happy I did. Again, the sauce was flavorful and served to highlight the taste and texture of the fish. The roast potatoes on the plate were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside; broccoli and carrots fresh and simply steamed with a little bite left to both. Despite being quite full, (the portions are very generous,) we finished with a slice of Tiramisu -- which made me realize how many I've had were too heavy and too sweet. With a lovely glass of port, it was close to a perfect meal. The staff offered us a slice of their Key Lime Pie in honor of my birthday, and we were too gluttonous to pass. Besides being actually uncomfortable on the ride home! we didn't regret it; crumbly crust and sharp, bright curd were worth every groan and sigh. Can't wait to go back. read more

So glad I found this place! Great italian food with a cozy atmosphere and very attentive staff. Our waiter was really friendly and didn't rush us at all. Our table ordered the ravioli and the veal capricciosa - both were so good that we wiped up all remains with the fresh bread that was provided to the table! The owner was so nice and he was periodically checking on all the tables in the dining room, which I always like to see. From start to finish, this place gets an "A" across the board. First of all I am not against the food at all. It was quite tasty although slightly overpriced. My issue is that I had come in without a reservation and instead of saying "we are booked", I was asked if I would be done an hour from when I walked in. The restaurant was not full when I walked in, but still explain that you will have a full house very soon. Don't rush me. I purposefully took my time extending my meal by almost a half hour. Oh by the way, did I mention with all the empty tables that fit my party we were put all the way in the corner. What's up with that?
