This place is an excellent authentic Italian restaurant. They have a very good wine menu and a variety of options for your meal. The restaurant itself is not very big, but felt very intimate and cozy. They had servers constantly filling up our water and bringing us bread and some sort of eggplant dip that was amazing! We opted to skip appetizers and did a pasta and two entrees family style. The fish was well seasoned and tasted great, the veal was also excellent, but the show stopper was the Cacio e Pepe. I've never had it before, but the only way to describe it it's similarity to an Alfredo sauce but with lots of pepper. Excellent food, friendly service, overall a great experience!! read more

A fabulous Mothers Day lunch! Tried the calamari which was so tender and lightly battered. Also had the mussels which were huge in a nice tomato broth. For entrees we had the lamb shank, chicken parm, papardelle del Bosco and Branzino.lamb was superb and fell off the bone. BFish was cooked perfectly and chicken parm was its usual outstanding dish. I was blown away -- finally found an Italian restaurant with true, authentic Italian cooking just like my Mom and great Grandma from the old country used to make. One word -- caponata -the best I've ever had in my life -- and with the moist, flavorful foccacia - Wow. Complimentary-- SO nice! The ravioli were perfectly cooked, flavorful and the sauce was perfection-- just like my Mom's-- when even she admits that, you know it's good. The chicken parm entree-- very good. Not the best I've had-- but chicken was tender and very good. Nice to have this dish for once when it is not overly salted. Chicken scarp dish- well the waitress warned me it was spicy. I asked for low level of spice. But I did not expect the dish to be mostly peppers. Way too many peppers and not enough chicken! This dish should take off from the 5 stars but everything else was so delicious, I can't reduce. Now for the star of the meal.. The Cavatelli Bolognese. My son got this and it was huge and he is little and didn't want to share because it was so good. But we stole bites and all wish we had ordered this! The desserts-- BEST tiramisu I've had in a restaurant. Usually they are too sweet, or too cakey--- or blah- but this was all around perfection of flavors. The limoncello cake was delicious. Now a word of caution -- be careful what you chew here. Could have broken a tooth on the large walnut shell found in the beet salad. The server said they need to be more careful husking but the (I'm guessing owner/manager) ran over to our table -- no apology-- just saying the shell must have been in the bag. Well, they've gotta be more careful. I didn't want an excuse. Just an apology would have been nice and that they themselves would be more careful what they are serving their customers. So after all this food and wine and the service charge to use a credit card, which really is annoying places do this now -- I thought I would have to get out the smelling salts when hubby saw the bill. But you know what? It was worth it. Because if you are like me and know truly good Italian cooking and are sick of all of all of the over-salted, over oily, not-truly-real Italian restaurants -- I think you will be happy in this cozy little place finally finding a delicious comfort meal. read more

Cute little restaurant. Staff is so friendly. They give you complementary bread + eggplant caponata which was so delicious and definitely unique. Meatballs were SO good, and the fried calamari tasted fresh. It also wasn't overly fried, just had a nice light coating. Overall food was good and I'd definitely like to try more things on the menu. Flat out delicious. Chef Andrea CARES about serving you delicious food. The man has a real talent for sauces. You'll look at the substantial menu and think 'I see some classics.' And you do. But...each and every dish arrives looking just left or just right of what you expected in the best possible way. Chicken Scarpiello is on the bone and more decadently brown than you've ever had. New location! They are open in West Harrison. Yay! The restaurant is beautiful with a huge room for parties. They have a nice bar in the front too. We had an absolutely delicious meal, burrata, chicken scarp, bolognese pasta. The kids had spaghetti and meatball and chicken strips, which were actual huge slices of chicken. Friends had recommended this restaurant and we were really excited to go with another couple! We had a 6:30 reservation and the restaurant called and asked us to come at 6:00 because they needed the table by 7:30. We showed up at 6:00 p.m. and literally were pushed out the door in less than 45 minutes. The waiter stood over us and the food came so fast we couldn't enjoy the appetizers or main meals (we couldn't order coffee or dessert- totally absurd). By 6:40 they told us they needed our table. There are so many good restaurants in the area that we dine at every Friday and Saturday evening. We will NEVER go back here. read more

The food is exceptional and they deserve all of the awards and outstanding reviews they have received. Service is friendly and efficient. It is pretty loud inside and you have to shout at times to be heard. Prices have gone up pretty regularly so this not your regular "go-to" restaurant any longer. Two of us had dinner there a few nights ago -- one beer. We both had appetizers and entrees, two coffees, and did not order dessert. The bill with tax & tip was over $180 - pretty high considering our dinner choices. We'll have to think about a return visit given the cost. OMG what a fabulous meal! Everything was so delicious and the service was superb. The menu and specials menu is so good that we wanted to order everything on it. I ordered two appetizers; an eggplant and beretta rollitini and the seafood salad both scrumptious! My husband got the Caesar salad and the seafood pasta special. We both got glasses of wine--they have a great wine selection, and shared a delicious desert--so yummy! And I finished with a decaf cappuccino. An incredible evening with really wonderful food. Upon leaving a restaurant up the street a friendly man told us we were missing the best Italian restaurant up the street so we took his suggestion and went to Osteria Padre Pio this past Saturday evening. The chef and owner came to visit our table just to make sure we have everything that we wanted. Food: All that we ordered was delicious, they had big servings as well so we couldn't finish it even though it was so good. Everything was made fresh and same day! CALAMARI: it was good the chunks of squid and shrimp were fried perfectly and the meat itself still soft and tasty. CHICKEN FINGERS: this is my nephews order but I love it, the chicken is soft and fried perfectly. SAN MARZANO BURRATA: the burrata was soft and fresh, the salad that comes with it was okay. CLASSICA BRUSCHETTA FOCACCIA: this was a pizza with fresh tomatoes. POLPETTE DI BOVINO: omg the meatballs was so good, i can eat a lot of this. CAVATELLI BOLOGNESE: the pasta was fresh and al dente, you can tell it from the first bite. CALAMARI SHRIMP SALAD: taste good, the calamari and shrimp was fresh. PORK CHOP AL FERRI: huge pork chop, i didn't even finish it. Taste really good. RAVIOLI: omg get this! The cheese inside is soo good! And the pasta is al dente! PENNETTE ALLA BOSCAIOLA: the italian sausage was so good accompanied by the al dente pasta. CHICKEN SCARPARIELLO: the chicken is soft and perfect with the sauce. Price rating: 6/10, cheap! If you like authentic simple Italian food this the place to eat. You can tell that the food is made with love !! We had the arancini which came with vodka sauce. We couldn't get enough of that sauce! We also had a Caesar salad. It had shaved Parmesan and the croutons were so delicious! We shared the raviolis and chicken parm for dinner. The chicken parm was incredible!! The place the burratta right on top. It was incredible!! The restaurant is small and slightly loud but it didn't matter to us. You just don't find a place that serves such delicious food everywhere!! This place reminds me of a Sopranos episode, the one where everyone is getting tired of Artie's restaurant, and they start going to a competing restaurant behind his back. The new place has a young and up-and-coming chef with a better quality of food and service. My buddy introduced me to Osteria during my last visit back home, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of the food. I won't mention the old place in my scenario, but it's pretty close by and has been around for a very long time. Sad to say, I have friends who will continue to patronize a substandard restaurant out of loyalty. Since I no longer live in the area, my only loyalty is to myself and my ability to get decent food during my short visit. It's my understanding that OPP has only been open for less than a year - that said, I remain cautiously optimistic and happy for their continued success. I have to say I enjoyed every dish, from the entrée to the dessert, all were great. I can't wait until my next visit and see if they remain consistent over the years. BB read more

Please ignore those inflated good reviews. The restaurant is very sneaky- charges 4% for credit card usage and hits you with $14.95 for a little piece of dessert assume you won't check the bill at the end of your meal. We ordered Tiramisu which was half a normal size. They intentionally don't list the dessert price anywhere in the menu and their website. In the menu, they put desserts price is based on market rate. Not sure how much sugar, milk, and cinnamon power price fluctuates over time. Food was just okay, everyday Italian food, nothing special. Would never go back there again! read more

What a find- hard to believe it's been open for 4 years and we hadn't been here. Small, very attractively decorated, not crowded and the chef/owner will only take a reservation if it means no one feels rushed. Everything was excellent including the best aranchine rice balls outside of Sicily. We shared a beautiful beet salad and it was split it the kitchen - each plate was the size of a full portion. Same with sharing one of the specials, perfectly split and no need to start sharing at the table. We did forget to ask the price of the delicious veal special and it was pricey. Oh my goodness! I could make a meal of the bread basket and the eggplant served with it. Our only disappointment was the pistachio mousse. It was much denser than we are used to. Next time - something else. We loved this restaurant. Food was terrific, service was very friendly, large portions, beautiful presentation and overall just a great experience. One of the best meals we've had in Westchester! So nice to find real, authentic, Italian food with top line ingredients in Westchester. They start you off with terrific bread, warm and delivered with some eggplant that is truly succulent and flavorful. We then had a Caeser salad which was perfectly dressed and wonderful. When the entrees came we were thrilled. A version of Chicken Parm that came with Burrata which really made the dish have a truly special texture and served with spaghetti and we had another Orchiette dish with Peas and Sausage that was fantastic. Most restaurants drop the ball with dessert but we had homemade cannoli, outstanding and a Black Cherry gelato that was smooth and creamy. We will be back for sure! read more

Years ago this space was a neighborhood dive bar where the roughnecks hung out. The store has been transformed into a warm, welcoming place that creates an exciting "oh this is going to be good" feeling. It sure was! I had the homemade cavettelli special in an amazing pesto cream sauce. Portion was large & pasta was homemade. Hubby had spaghetti and meatballs with a dollop of ricotta on top...also fantastic. The menu was varied with several other meat, fish & vegetable choices but I had pasta on my mind. Ordered tiaramisu for dessert which was a tiny portion. I Was there for a group dinner - food overall was good , however it was pricey. The reason for the three star review is that the pasta menu items were advertised as being homemade pasta as well as the waiter advising it all being homemade pasta. Lo and behold my spaghetti with Caponata pasta order, came and it was boxed dried pasta. Everyone at the table agreed. Other diners at the table that ordered pasta also noted that it was not fresh homemade but box dried pasta. I know this because I've been making homemade pasta for years, as well as most members of my family being avid fresh pasta makers. One of the owners a woman came over and I expressed my complaint to her regarding the pasta. She insisted that it was homemade, but as I pointed out the apparent difference, she changed her story and said that it was imported from Italy, and then changed the story again to it being homemade several days ago and having dried out. The saving grace for this experience was that the sauce for the pasta was delicious- It was a mixture of eggplant and burrata - but the experience with the false advertising and the owners apparent demeaning attitude towards me pointing out the false representation will prompt me not to ever return. So to finish this review I will ad that anytime I see "homemade pasta" on the menu I like to order it because it is my favorite, and this was clearly not homemade. read more

we were so excited to go to padre pio having heard so many great reviews from friends. what a disappointment! we arrived on time for a 6 pm reservation and as we were sitting down were told we could have the table for an hour and would have to leave by 7. seated by the door we asked to move to another table that was empty and were told it was for regulars. fried calamari was flavorless. branzino returned as it was cold. chocolate mousse arrived and was almost frozen. all this for $150. what a disappointment read more
