The exterior of Venice Italian Kitchen gives no clues to the quality of their food, likewise the dining room area. But the pizza? THE PIZZA! Seriously some of the best pizza that I've had. The crust has a buttery quality which I LOVED, but my wife prefers something little thinner. She's a Yankee, what does she know? All of my kids loved this pizza, which says a lot. We had the most delicious dinner at this great little local restaurant!! Felisha was wonderful and got us all we needed to eat outside as we had our dog. I had the chicken Orlando. It was perfect. The flavors of the chicken, eggplant, capers, artichokes, peppers all finished in a white wine and capellini done to perfection. I couldn't finish it all so I had a delicious lunch the next day. My husband had the Streets of NY hot pepper sandwich which he also enjoyed thoroughly. Took half home and enjoyed the next day. If you're looking for a fancy place, this may not be for you. Don't let the looks and/or size of the building be deceiving. This is the best Italian food that I have had anywhere. And the service is fantastic. Portions are huge and prices are reasonable. I almost always have enough for two meals. A very small restaurant. It seems like it would be better for takeout. The garlic bread is the best garlic bread we've ever had. A lot of the drinks were canned which was unexpected. Hard to give Venice less than five stars, though I will say it might not agree with some people. First off, the place is small, but there's a surprising amount of seating. The staff are super nice...I felt at home both on the phone calling in my order and picking it up. Everything was packed with care and we were invited to ask for forks, etc. When I say they were super nice, I'm not lying. The food came in huge portions (I'm a big guy and I only ate half of my chicken parm). My friend is smaller, but he also ended up saving a half portion of his ravioli with meatballs. The tomato sauce is slightly on the sweet side, which I might normally find off putting, but it perfectly balanced the meat in the dishes...especially the sausage I ordered on the side. That sausage is where it's at...a true must try. We got salads and bread (both ample and excellent), but opted for some extra cheesy garlic bread. Delish! The only real knock I might normally have would be the slightly elevated prices, but for the quantity and quality, I think it's fair. You have to try this place if you like Italian! read more

I had heard many positive comments about Venice Italian Kitchen, however when I placed a to go order of chicken piccata with angel hair pasta, I only received a small piece of chicken breast with angel pasta with capers & mushrooms (I had requested no mushrooms as I hate the texture, but I just pulled them off). My sauce was supposed to be a lemon butter wine sauce but once I arrived home, I noticed the lid had not been shut all the way & most of the sauce had ended up in the bottom of the plastic bag. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed. The next week, for a few extra dollars, I ordered take out at Casa San Carlo (which had been voted one of the top restaurants of North Carolina). Carlo is originally from Italy & his restaurant is located in Morehead City. What a positive outcome! I received three times the size of the chicken (compared to Venice) with capers & a fantastic lemon butter wine sauce (no mushrooms because according to Carlos they only go on Chicken Marsala). I also received the angel hair pasta in marinara sauce on the side. For a few extra dollars it was worth every penny! I'm hoping Venice Italian Kitchen just had an off evening but as a local & teacher with a limited income, I'm not sure if I want to spend the money to only be disappointed again. read more

The restaurant is located at the marina which is nice, and you have the option of sitting inside or outside. We ordered the chicken and eggplant parm; ham and sausage calzone; and a child's pasta plate with meat sauce. This place is a hidden gem. It is secluded in an older strip mall area and doesn't look like much from the outside. When we walked in we noticed a couple local police officers eating there. That's when I knew it was a local gem and would be great...and it was! The menu is HUGE. They have so many options. Everything we ordered was prepared right then, came out red hot, and was delicious. Imagine, if you will, a simpler time, made of real ingredients, prepared (by a man named Orlando) with care (en lieu of greed), and meant to be savored (not rushed, you millennial hippies!). Now, this is an Italian food restaurant. Dine-in, for the love of veal. At least for the first time. Don't make takeout your defining experience. It's not fair to you. There's Hardee's for that. It's a family owned restaurant that does not advertise or market itself much. They have 3-4 little tables and the small number of staff work tediously to ensure your food keeps coming in on time. In short, food is excellent and proper Italian, quantities are good and the service is sweet. We had kids with us and they did their best to adjust to their needs. We had lots of food and everything was spectacular. The mix platter of appetizers was very delicious. Couldn't stop eating those jalapeño poppers. We ordered slices of pizza for the kids and this was no kids pizza, even with just one topping. The bread was crunchy yet had a nice fluff to it. The right amount of cheese and condiments made it super good. They had house salad, which was generally fresh and crunchy but perhaps some of it seemed not so fresh. They had some fresh bread to be had with olive oil butter and all and it was super well baked. We also ordered the penne pasta and a chicken Alfredo variation. The former was okay, the sauce was nice and everything but it was the Alfredo that took the cake. We couldn't finish the food but ordered some dessert to take home, which looks fantastic as well. Despite us visiting mistakenly within a short time of closing, she never made us feel rushed and even urged us to take our time and discouraged us from feeling bad for keeping her late. She was attentive and accommodating and we all enjoyed our meals. I would have liked to have more than two clams in the shell on the meal. The oil was a lot so I dumped it out and then the dish was very good. There were a lot of clams and a great amount of garlic. The pricing was very reasonable. The bread it came with was nothing special. There was no butter for it either. The Greek salad for $2.50 was beautiful! Plentiful and delicious dressing.
