Perfect for Aperitivo
Martina C.

I have been here only once so far, I have to say the staff is lovely, super friendly and helpful, place is small and comfy, there are also few places outside which are perfect in a sunny day! They do spritz (which I don't like, so haven't tried) and my friends said was good! We shared a platter and was very good, a mix of cheese, artichokes, sundry tomatoes, ham, pork, bread !. we shared a small one in 3 which is perfect for as appetiser! The only thing didn't convince me at all where the Sweets there, they didn't look really good, but I haven't tried them, so can't judge! They also sell Italian products there!

Great spritz time @il fornaio! We had a nice aperitivo with some tomato and mozzarella bruschetta together with spritz. Staff friendly and very welcoming. Surely I will come back here again!

Large AIP meat and cheese board

The wine was delicious and the meat and cheese plate was amazing. I would warn you though it is HUGE. We ordered a large for the two of us thinking it would be the perfect portion for a late snack or small dinner. Let me tell you this was meant for 4-5 people not 2. It would have been nice to receive a warning or if the menu had a suggested portion, but I must say it was delicious. We didn't order coffee or dessert; however, they all looked and smelled amazing. The only down side was the service. They were very slow to seat us even with open tables, I had to get up and find our waitress so we could order, they forgot our water, and I also had to get up to ask for the bill and to pay. It's like the waitress forgot about us. Outside of that I would definitely comeback again if I find myself in Dublin.

On our last day in Dublin, we had an early dinner at Platform 61, which we discovered through Yelp…read more-- so not quite a best-kept secret, but certainly a terrific hangout on South William Street. Usually, the dining room comprises an underground hideaway that is quite sleek and intimate. However, due to the lockdown measures, we had to do outdoor seating directly on William Street while we were there. The experience was still beautiful, thanks to the surrounding scenery. The cocktails were grand between the P61 Signature Cocktail and the Hugo -- both prosecco-based cocktails. The former was delicious between the peach puree and prosecco, while the latter was a little more tart with the elderflower cordial. For dinner, we kicked things off with gluten-free bread with a trio of dips that were quite tasty. The Tortellini I ordered was exquisite and scrumptious with how it was prepared between the goat cheese, asparagus, red onion, wilted spinach, cream sauce, and bacon. I applauded this lovely dish with the last bite. I devoured the warm almond flour brownie for dessert, served with chocolate sauce and gelato, which my wife could also enjoy since the dish was gluten-free. Overall, Platform 61 was a great way to conclude our second Irish journey. We will return, especially to enjoy the underground dining area.

The ambiance is very nice as well, romantic but also good for a fun night out with friends. 10/10 recommend adding this to your itinerary for dinner!

Something must have changed drastically in the establishment because I was simply astonished at the…read morecombination of how bad & mediocre my dining experience was. For starters it was some of the worst service I have ever encountered and certainly the worst service for a Michelin Bib Gourmand. For starters my server was ill acquainted with the menu. She had no idea what the cheese foam was other than it was served in a bowl. She brought a wrong starter and insisted I ordered it when I did not. I ordered my steak to be medium it came rare. By the time my main entree had arrived I was exhausted from dealing with this rude, combative and surly individual. The plate of still mooing meat didn't help. I just asked to take it home. Nope, she said we don't pack anything to go. I asked for the manager at that point who pack up my meal and I was finally free to escape from restaurant hell. As for the food, Bread, Cheese foam, Argentinian Steak, It was average and overpriced. And all the bread was easily day old. One and done. Spare yourself the one and just be done.

The backs of the stools are straight up at a 90 degree angle.. have good posture Mom said. Started with some house wine which was fine and they have a very limited for Michelin Bib joint. Asked the waitress what they were known for and she rattled off 3 items which I ordered. Got bread with black garlic butter/ Hungarian Striploin and Blue Macha Seabass. Bread was fine but second dish served in oyster shells so I thought they brought the wrong dish? Just ok they said. The Seabass was good I got the check and couldn't wait to get outta there! Super busy and I don't know why.. maybe Millennials like the concept but I did not. Talk later

My first thought was "who comes to Dublin to go to a wine bar?" but my first thought was totally wrong. I absolutely loved La Cava! It's such a cozy intimate restaurant. It gave me lots of West Village (NYC) vibes. Be careful when looking for the restaurant because you can walk right by it, It's a little place right off of Grafton St. It's also located downstairs! Such a hidden gem! We did the 3-course pre-fixe. The burrata was amazing, so fresh! The service was excellent. You were given plenty of time to enjoy your food without being rushed for the next course. The duck was perfect, and the lamb was delicious. For the dessert, the creme brulee was grand. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this restaurant. The prices were reasonable! I highly recommend having dinner here if you're in Dublin. Note, the restaurant is small, so you'll be sitting very close to other people. Personally, this didn't bother me, but some people might not love that. But be aware, that they don't accept AMEX!

I was by myself so I sat at the bar. Just a few seats and quite cozy. Perfect!! Had the pleasure of Jon taking care of me. Started with a sparkling rose' while looking at the menu. Decided on the 2 course Prix Fixe. Chose the mussels and then the fish duo. Of course had to have wine. I honestly can't get enough of this place. Can't wait to return!!
