I've always loved stopping by IL Gelato every time I'm at Kahala Mall! I love how some of the flavors rotate sometimes so that I can try new flavors. The gelato is always super good no matter what flavor I get, although I especially like the ube cookies and cream! The texture is very nice; the gelato is smooth but still a little sticky. I haven't tried the affogato personally, but my mom also recommends that as well. The service is always good here. The staff is always willing to let you sample flavors so that you can decide what you want. They bring good vibes and seem happy to help. The menu has a good variety, and I feel that there's just enough flavors of gelato to choose from. The only complaint I have is that the portions are a little small for the prices, but in my opinion the gelato is still worth your time and money. The circular design of the place is nice, and I like the displays, the presentation of the different flavors of gelato, and how the menu is nice and legible. My kids always enjoy gelato when we are at Kahala Mall and my husband loves their peanut butter gelato, which is special if they have it. Yesterday, we stopped by here after dinner. At first approach, none of the young workers said a word. We got one sample and then ordered two cones for the kids. Still, no words, just a blank stare. The other girl who was working was just standing at the register on her phone. We asked her if we could pay while he was making the cones and she barely said a thing. After we paid, she went to a table to hang out with her friend. Then, the male worker took her spot at the register sitting on his phone. I am super surprised that they are working customer service when they are mute. It makes me not want to come here again just because we received zero customer service. Life is sweeter with gelato at I'll Gelato Cafe. You can find them inside Kahala mall near Starbucks and Jamba Juice. We got 3 flavors. Top for each cup is filled with ube cookies and cream & sandy beach Bottom for both Nutella on steroids. What an interesting choice of name. Too bad it wasn't presented with half and half or side by side. Ube is my new favorite gelato then the Nutella on steroids. I normally go for sweet fruity flavors and got a triple scoop of raspberry, dragonfruit, and Hawaiian rainbow. Each flavor was super refreshing not overpoweringly sweet and was clean and distinct between each flavors. It also came fast and despite the crowd had tons of seating to cruise around which we took advantage of. Rewards you can't actually use. Let's start with today's visit. Only one girl was working for well over an hour. She was working so hard by herself without help. Why isn't this place staffing properly? I felt so bad for her. I ordered a sandwich and a coffee and it took a bit but I understood because she was working alone. Finally another worker showed up. My mom and daughter wanted gelato and so we got three double scoop cups. I have over 19,000 in rewards points and went to use the single scoop one and the worker who had just showed up told me I couldn't apply it to any of the three two scoops I ordered. Not sure if it's a flawed policy or that she is just not well trained but clearly we come here a lot... with almost 20k points, they couldn't make one of the double scoop cups into two single scoops so we could use the very small discount we have earned with years of patronage? Shameful and bad business practice. Better to do away with the "rewards" if you can't apply them to your customer's orders. read more

The manager who assisted me told me it was 8.75 + 1 (waffle bowl). I paid but then later found they had charged an extra $1 that was not advertised. I tried to explain the situation and she was adamant in saying that $8.75+$1+0.50tax=$11.25. Instead of explaining how the extra dollar was added to my bill, she got defensive and kept saying that was just the tax, do you want a refund, and acted like they lost several customers cuz I took too long making my selection after I only tried 2 flavors before ordering The whole experience was extremely unprofessional! Daria was very helpful when serving me. I asked for a water and she delivered. When time came to pay the $1 for the cup and the straw, my card got declined (in all honesty lol) and all I had on me was a $50 bill. 8-18-21 3 of us waited patiently to be noticed by the female worker to place an order. She either didn't notice us, or hear us discussing what flavors we were planning to get. It didn't have the wow factor of most gelato cases. There were 2 people sitting and talking at the counter. The worker was in front of them smoothing over a container of white gelato. They had no masks on and she was not 6 feet away. Hubs told me, she's only doing that. She turned and finally helped us. Our sweetie wanted an Oreo gelato with rainbow sprinkles. Hubs settled on mint chocolate chip vs pistachio and I got Kona coffee. I've had gelato in Venice, Greece, San Fran, Vegas, Highlands Market etc. The one I had today was just okay. The flavor was mild and NOT oh so yummy or we must come back. It was 11:30 a.m. so I chose single scoops for all of us. The cup looked so tiny compared to BR or Ds. Hubs said kinda expensive that 3 scoops were $15. My answer was, it's Kahala so he wouldn't continue. We sat briefly at an unoccupied table in front of Fun Factory to eat our little treat. Pleasant staff and good service. Gelato is excellent. My friend has been a regular customer for years. They had the best coffee and expresso. Its been 3 weeks that coffee has a bitter taste and has never been like this is years since my friend started coming. Today she tried the expresso and I had an affogato. The expresso was bitter and my affogato had a bitter coffee taste even with the sweetness of the Gelato did not balance the bitterness. I pray this gets resolved because my friend keeps her faithful visits for her daily fix and its been a disappointing 3 weeks. Staff, manager and higher ups were told of the situation and we are still waiting. Hopefully it gets fixed soon cause they do have the best coffee, gelato and staff. read more

But it actually was pretty reasonable and they have soooo much options, from Panini, coffee, and even crepes! I underestimated it, or should i say OVER estimated it because it's much more simpler than you think! Going there, I was greeted quickly and was not rushed!! I felt bad because I tried like 5 flavors, almost seeming like i was not going to pay, but I did finally come to the conclusion! Hubby, me, daughter and Yelp elite friend Michelle R decided to come here. It's buy one get one free per the 5 star app on your smart phone. The lady behind the counter was nice. We watched the guy make fresh waffle cones. I decided to get the mango sorbet while Michelle got the dark chocolate. We both got it in a cup. My mango sorbet was on point and had pieces of mango in it. It was so refreshing and satisfying sweet tooth There's seating around this location as it's located near the food court inside the mall. I was so happy to finally get my gelato fix here at the Kahala location! Since I live in Milillani I ordered an extra two scoop gelato. Guess what! they dont have take out covers. So here it goes ... The man starts telling me that the gelato melts fast so it is to be eaten right away I could feel his irritation . I told him that I am taking it home. He did put Saran Wrap around it. My excitement for gelato just dropped. Am I the only customer that wants to take gelato home. The mango and coffee is my favorite! I took home the strawberry/chip with a scoop of vanilla.
