Located on Ala Moana Blvd across from the Hilton Hawaiian Village and Island Market... It's kind of hidden because it's at the lower level or basement level but it's literally only a few steps down... I'm not much of an ice cream eater but really enjoyed the salted caramel gelato here. They have so many options and even offer the Dole whip (if you don't make it to the Dole plantation and want the whip...stop in here). Staff were very friendly and service was fast. Gelato Chill is a nice quaint place. Seating and small tables are available. You can ask for a sample or two of the gelato flavors. The gelato samples that I tried were on the sweet side. There are many, many different flavors to try from at Gelato & Chill. I decided to try the Dole Whip soft serve in pineapple and vanilla swirl. It was a nice creamy and tart combination. This gelato joint is pretty new and is at the Ala Moana end of Waikiki. Clean, bright and loaded with different gelato flavors and options (they also have shakes, soft serve and Dole Whip), I hope this place sticks around! It's not quite visible from the street since it's at a sunken level beneath the Canterbury Place Condominiums, but foot traffic is a sure shot to spot this place. Parking is at a premium in this area, so walk if you can. The shop is usually run by one worker, but they're efficient, friendly and quick. Tables inside and outside, so take your pick.. read more

The workers were so friendly and so patient with me and my friends when we came in after kan sushi. We sampled a few flavors and they have a lot to choose from! I've always passed by this place but never had the chance to step in, and finally got that chance yesterday. There's a wide variety of gelato flavors and the workers were really helpful. We walked in at 9:43 and was told by a women with black hair fairly young that they were closed... when we mentioned they closed at 10 she said "yeah sorry I just don't feel good". Which is lies. This place has the most flavors of any gelato place I've seen: 38! I came on a Friday afternoon around 6pm, and I was the only customer for a while. I ordered Toasted Marshmallow and really liked it; it tasted like s'mores without the chocolate. Their gelato is flavorful and dense, as any good gelato should be. And I think their pricing is reasonable, compared to other places. The service was nice, although it was difficult to hear them, because the music is rather loud inside. They had a ton of tropical flavors but I'm a chocolate lover so I ended up with the salted caramel chocolate. The inside is pretty cool. Seats to hangout if you wanted but I grabbed mine to go. My only critiques are the wood spoons they give you samples on and the amount of the sample made it a little tough to tell the flavor because you taste wood trying to try the sample. And the story plays just like this. My buddy and I finish a game of grass volleyball down at Kapiolani park. We're hungry; voracious even. We get dinner at Carp Dori. We're full but not can't have dessert type of full. We look up some dessert spots open near us and boom, it's Gelato & Chill. I scrolled through the images and was intrigued. Immediately I knew that this was where we had to go. We walked down the steps just to find a sign that said "we'll be back soon!" Shocked and slightly frustrated, we decided to sit and wait until someone came. Just a few minutes later, a worker came back to the door apologizing for making us wait. She opened the door and let us into the empty gelato spot. There were so many different flavors and options to choose from! Luckily we were graced with three samples each. After asking the helpful worker, I decided that a single scoop of vanilla would fix my sweet treat craving. I'll be honest, it wasn't the best gelato I've ever had but it surely wasn't close to being the worse. It was creamy and fluffy but the vanilla tasted just a tad artificial. All in all this spot is great! They even sold some cookies too which was nice. Id totally recommend it if you're walking around Waikiki or near the area! read more

I'm moving off island and had to move into Waikiki for a week so I found some places to try. Based on the delicious sounding flavors and high reviews I was really excited to try it. I happen to walk by yesterday and was thrilled to see that it was really like a block away from my hotel. However, many of the dishes were empty, and I was told that some of their popular flavors were not available and wouldn't be available for another week. I don't know what's going on there, but I tried the lilikoi and the guava and I have to say I didn't love either one of them. They both tasted just too intense or too sweet for me. I tried one more flavor and I can't even remember what it was. So I ended up with a single scoop of chocolate and strawberry mochi. The chocolate was pretty good but the strawberry mochi which was supposed to be a vanilla base tasted like almost nothing with spits of strawberry syrup and some emoji pieces in it. I probably only ate 1/10 of this and just threw away the rest. I would say it was very affordable, but I really had no desire to eat more. Which is a bit of a shocker for someone like me I am highly disappointed, but kind of relieved that I won't need to go back for the rest of the week while I'm staying close by. read more
