Incredible service and awesome food make Il Mio a wonderful restaurant choice. Here's what we chose: - Pesto Burrata Flatbread ($20) Really delicious. The burrata had a great texture and the pesto popped. You'll get 8 slices. - Pappardelle with Short Rib Ragu ($22) The star of the meal. The short ribs had a perfectly delicious sauce. I nearly licked the plate clean. - Skirt Steak Vesuvio ($35) The potatoes included in this dish are remarkable - crispy on the outside but melt-in-your-mouth within. The asparagus was nice and smoky. Unfortunately, the skirt steak is quite thin, so there's no way for them to cook it properly medium rare. I might skip this if I came back. Our server Eileen was really awesome - some of the best service I've received. Be aware that the place can get really loud, so it's not particularly intimate. As you can see from my past reviews this is one of my local favorites for family dinners. I was here again with my family of seven including two pre-schoolers and one young elementary school child for our 5:30 PM dinner reservation. We were seated at the large booth to the left rear corner of the restaurant. I started with my two Italian old fashions with Buffalo Trace bourbon, amaro, orange bitters, orange peel and Luxardo cherry for $14 each or $28 total. We shared and enjoyed the Arancini short rib ragu with mozzarella for $16. I enjoyed my pappardelle with short rib ragu with braised short rib and parmigiano cheese for $22. I was here for a baby shower and had a wonderful time! It's a cute location in downtown Clarendon Hills. The decor inside is just lovely as well. Service was great, the food was so delicious, and drinks were yummy too. Some food favorites: pesto burrata flatbread, gnocchi alla vodka, and the broccolini! My friends and I all enjoyed the cocktails, but the 30 spritz was a favorite. I definitely will be coming back for dinner sometime soon! read more

Date night was at il Mio, one of our favorite restaurants in Clarendon Hills. The restaurant has open air front doors onto the patio on the street, a nice size bar and restaurant. The noise level is very high, though. I requested a booth when I made my reservation, and the restaurant make sure we got a booth. This time we had Taeya as our server. She was sweet, friendly and provided good service. Il Mio serves up great cocktails. I had my go-to summer drink which is a bees knees, and my husband had an Italian old-fashioned. Both very good cocktails. We decided to order a few things and share them all. We started with our usual mushroom flatbread. This flatbread had a perfectly crisp crust with gooey cheese and imported mushrooms. It's a must every time we go. It's absolutely fantastic. Next we tried two dishes that we hadn't ordered before. The first was the arancini with short rib ragu and mozzarella. Although it was tasty, only one arancini ball had actual short rib meat when we cut into it, and I felt it was over-fried. This shareable was a miss for me, and I don't think I'd order it again. The final dish we ordered was their house specialty, the cacio e pepe. Yup, that made it very well. It was delicioso! Even with a miss tonight with the arancini, it's still a fave restaurant of ours. The cocktails are great, the food is good and the service is spot on. Just make sure to make reservations because this place is always busy. I also just found out they are opening for lunches on Thursdays and Fridays during the week. read more

So happy there is a restaurant thriving in this space again in my small hometown. It was packed on a Sat. night, and inside it was a little loud, but outside on the patio was lovely. The tiny main street of Clarendon Hills is nicely landscaped with lots of flowers , so not much is needed in the way of screens. My son had a couple of the specialty cocktails, but we don't remember the names! We had a meat board and house salad for starters, the salad was full of a variety of fresh things and holds its own with Italian salads I've had at more expensive places. All of our entrees were delicious; my Fettuccine Arrabiata kicked just enough to have a slight and desirable sinus clearing effect. The shrimp in it were plump and fresh. Service slowed slightly between courses, but as noted, it was very busy. I am also OK with not rushing a meal, especially when it's the main entertainment of the evening. One thing that could be better is the actual outdoor tables,. they are a bit small for 4 and somewhat tippy on the patio stones. Despite the generous dinner portions, a couple of us got dessert. I came here with my fiancée (now wife). We had our first date here. They weren't busy when we arrived. We ordered the whipped ricotta and bread appetizer. It was delicious. My meal was a burger and fries. Also, I ordered a lemon spritz drink. The burger was so so. It was greasy, and the bottom bun was soggy. I wish it had more seasoning/flavor. The fries were okay. Very lively place in Clarendon Hills. The décor is trendy, and it's busy. You need a reservation and make sure you get it as soon as you can. It's very summery inside, plenty of spots, but busy! Our server was great, he was ready to take our order, prompt, help recommend ideas to us when we needed it. He was also very personable. We ordered a few things and highly enjoyed it. Arancini - shareable, full of flavor, a lot bigger than expected, delicious sauce and delicious flavor Cacio e Pepe - full of delicious butter, enough pepper to not light your butt on fire, but to sting the tongue for 10 seconds, enough to share as a side Chicken Parmigiana - The chicken breast was beautiful with the pasta. The pasta marinara sauce isn't too acidic but has the tang Tiramisu - if an Italian restaurant can't get it together here, then don't eat it. Il Mio has it and I didn't share it. It was delicious. We went on the first day of Chicago Restaurant week and it wasn't bad it just wasn't excellent!! The restaurant doesn't know if it wants to be higher end restaurant or a sports bar. It was busy and it was loud and we couldn't have a conversation. The typical Italian restaurant gives you bread on the table and nothing. Two of us had one of their signature dishes, the pappardelle with short rib ragu and I was hoping for bigger bites of the short rib but I didn't have much and it lacked seasoning. I had the chocolate creme brûlée and it wasn't custard at all it was like chocolate pudding, not bad tasting but not what we expected and the sugar was burned. Was it a bad meal no, would I go back no and that's why I love restaurant week... go with friends and maybe find a new restaurant but we struck out on this one. read more

I chose to try this place after seeing the good reviews for it. The ambiance is lively and bright. I like how the menu isn't massive. We had the grilled octopus and whipped ricotta as appetizers. The octopus portion was surprisingly generous, but I thought the presentation was sloppy and the components were too wet. The whipped ricotta portion was large, but I didn't love the lemon citrus addition to it. My daughter really liked her kids portion of spaghetti and the meatball that came with it was massive. I was very impressed by the garganelli pesto burrata dish. The pasta was light and perfectly al dente, the burrata was creamy and the flavors were great. I would come back just for that. My husband got the shrimp pasta that was a special for that day and I thought it was okay. I'd like to try some more of their pasta dishes, but I highly recommend the garganelli! One negative note that bothered me is that they had a lot of flies that were annoying us to the point that we had to keep swatting them away from our food. I'm hoping that's not an ongoing problem. read more

Over and over again, we love this restaurant! Typically, we always go to Luca and Oakbrook and when you get the bill, it is typically over $200 for a family of four (and that's with 2 of them being kids). This has the same great atmosphere, comparable quality of food and is actually reasonable. Tonight Eileen was our server, she was so sweet. We ordered up - 3 kids meals, appetizer and entree and of course wine. Total was under $100. If you are looking for a great restaurant in the burbs that has a great atmosphere and isn't going to be outrageous, this is your place! read more

This place is a real gem. i've been here twice now, and both times were extraordinary. Jess was our server the first time, Krista was our server the second time. Both were extremely attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and extremely extremely extremely nice. I think it's pretty rare to find this caliber of restaurant in a small town in the western suburbs of Chicago. It's evident they put a lot of thought in care in their food, and the menu is well designed and expensive. I don't think there's a single thing that isn't tasty. I've tried all of the pastas, and most of the appetizers, and can vouch that this is the real deal. My favorite thing on the menu is the ravioli, which you would be making a mistake if you didn't order. Hope you can try this place! read more

This was a very nice little Italian restaurant down in the little center city of Clarendon Hills, just a block or two off the railroad leading to downtown Chicago (so it's a nice stop on the way home). This place was lively, loud, accepting of kids and strollers, and a trendy place. Nice assortment on the menu, and a full-service bar. They had a small but nicely curated wine selection and some interesting cocktails ... one in our party had the Italian Old Fashioned where they substitute Amaro for the simple syrup. All-in-all the drinks had very fair liquor prices, you won't have to leave your first-born son on ordering. For appetizers our table of three shared the Bruschetta (4 star very nice with the usual served on nice toast points) and the Garlic Rolls (5 star stuff if you are in for a garlic rush and warm bread like we were). The appetizers were a delightful respite while we savored a few drinks. For mains we had the Rigatoni Primavera (a 4 star plate of nice al dente rigatoni in a nice white wine sauce), the Gnocchi Vodka (5 star stuff, perfectly executed with a savory red sauce), and the Tenderloin Medallions (another 4 star offering, nice serving size of three tender beef medallions). The overall ambiance was nice, with the large dining space open and airy with high ceilings. The two, wide front windows open so ... when the weather co-operates ... they are open to allow the fresh air to flow through; the only downside is you get an occasional fly flowing through with it. They also have a nice-sized patio out front for al fresco dining, and it's positioned so the sun is away from you for dinner. Good place, give it a try ... but you should make a reservation to insure a table. read more

Reservations are highly recommended. If you don't mind having your meal at the huge bar area versus the dining area, then try your luck in snagging bar seats. That's what I did on a Saturday before 6pm. The service was great at the bar and the seats were comfortable enough. These were the dishes that I have tried on my visit: PROSCIUTTO BURRATA- it was ok, nothing extraordinary. EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA- the dish was ok, the sauce lacked flavor PAPPARDELLE W/ SHORT RIB RAGU- the sauce lacked flavor, I kept adding salt and pepper to add some taste. The meat was tender and the pasta was cooked well. I had Garibaldi cocktails, which the bartender made perfectly. The service that we received was great and the place had a busy yet fun vibe. The interiors were nice and neat, so was the bathroom. I was just not impressed by the food. Although the portion sizes were just right, I couldn't say that they were delicious. I really wanted to like this place. Their yelp pics look great. It was really nice inside, had a good sized menu, and a super nice waitress. Some of the food was pretty good but one entree was crushingly disappointing. Diavolo flatbread was great. Basically just a pepperoni pizza with pepper sauce and honey. The sauce is what made it really good. Crust wasn't as flat given as expected given the name but had crispy edges like a churro. Good stuff. Chicken saltimbocca was the most disappointing food item i think ive ever had that didn't give me food poisoning. So bland and watery, drastically needed salt. Like they boiled pasta for 30 mins, kept half the water, added chicken and some fancy prosciutto to that pot, and threw it on a plate. I know it was their "specials" menu, a learning lesson to not go off of that for places you haven't tried before.  The pappardelle was good. Wasn't our favorite bolognese sauce but beef was cooked well, pasta was fine. Brussel sprouts were also pretty good and exactly what you'd expect. Sprouts, bacon, some apple that went well with it. Lemon cake was great. Lemony, not too sweet pound cake. Just what we wanted Drinks were good. It was nice that they also had non-alcoholic cocktails.  Beer menu was decent sized but lacked variety.  Our waitress was memorably fantastic. It got busy and she was very attentive and friendly. Service was A+. We had a party of 9 reservation on Mother's day Saturday weekend. At 5:30 it was very busy. There were many couples with young children. The restaurant inside only had bar stool seating and a few booths indoors. I am 5ft tall, has had multiple surgeries, including spinal and instructed NOT to sit on bar stools. Our party of nine was seated in the bar, with 2 children ages 3 and 6. Then, there is me, Grandma. My son in law complained and luckily we were seated outdoors at 67 degrees‍The waiters were swift in setting up outdoor heaters! I love dining outside al fresco! Everything turned out great! We ordered Arincini Appetizer, grilled octopus and bruschetta with creamy cheese, roasted tomatoes, olives. Delicious and fairly priced. My grandson's ordered cheeseburgers and FF which looked good. I ordered the Branzino, which was spot on delicious with rapini, roasted tomatoes, olives and capers. Price point was good, My oldest daughter ordered Chicken Parmesan and it was moist and well seasoned. My son in law and daughter ordered the beef shortrib bolognese with wide pasta noodles. OMG! Delicious. My son ordered the gnocchi and so did my other son in law. My second daughter ordered the sausage and rapini orechette, which I almost ordered but when I see Branzino on a menu, I always order this! It was a lovely Mother's Day dinner, with great food and really great service! They need to let customers know about the barstools because most elderly adults do not belong on a bar stool. This is my experience. Also, Valet parking could help, too. I was lucky to secure a handicapped spot but my children literally parked far from the restaurant. Would I go there again? YES! read more

OK I have never visited Clarendon Hills before. What a cute little business area they have! Il Mio sits right on the main street in this charming area. The hostess greeted us warmly and sat us right away. In the notes on my reservation I asked to sit tucked away if possible. She sat us at a table in the corner right up front by the window. Thank you for reading the notes and taking great care of us. The room is filled with huge bar. It really dominates the room. With that aside, the wallpaper and decor create a cozy yet lively atmosphere. Our server Jeffrey was fantastic. He was efficient and personable. I loved his sarcastic sense of humor. He was kind enough to have the kitchen create a simple side salad that was not on the menu. I appreciated that. The food was so good I am still thinking about it today. My friend ordered the arancini appetizer and I had to try one. Yum! The vinaigrette on my salad was bright and refreshing. My friend loved her pasta with clams. I tried the eggplant parmesan that came with pasta. The red sauce is exactly my kind of red sauce. Dark red and not all garlic. It felt fresh perfect for my dish. The pizzella smores were very interesting. We also tried the pumpkin cheesecake. Both were very tasty. Let's not forget a very important factor. We loved our martinis too!! Il Mio is a restaurant in downtown Willowbrook. Upon walking in you're met with aesthetic modern decor with pretty light green color tones all over. We came in on a Sunday evening around 7 PM and it was packed and quite loud. We ordered a bit of everything. For starters we ordered the Arancini ($15) and Fried Calamari ($16). The arancini was so delicious, filled with savory mozzarella and short rib ragu. Perfectly crispy on the outside. The calamari tasted so fresh and not overcooked like most are! For entrees, we ordered the Linguini White Clam ($25), Shrimp Diavolo ($28), Penne Boscaiola ($18), Steakhouse Burger($17), and their special Fillet Medallions ($29). The pastas were all very delicious! Even my parents who are a bit picky about their pasta really enjoyed it. The seafood was very well flavored. I really enjoyed the sauce of the penne boscaiola. The fillet medallions were a bit too tough. It was very heavy, topped with bacon and being slightly overcooked. There were mushrooms but it definitely could have used more vegetables to lighten up the dish. Overall, everything was super delicious! For dessert, we ordered the Tiramisu ($9) and their special Nutella Mousse ($10). Both of them were very tasty, just very small portions. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal. Service was great, our waiter Hugo was very kind and attentive. Price wise, I do believe that it was a bit expensive when considering the portions. If you haven't noticed already, prices everywhere have gone up. Affordable but definitely on the pricier side for the amount of food that you gate. What a charming and lively restaurant! I ventured out of the Oak Brook area to find a different venue for dinner. Enter Il Mio, which you really can't miss as it sits on the " main drag" of Clarendon Hills, and is quite likely the most lively place you'll encounter (in fair weather, the front facade opens up to the expansive sidewalk seating). I arrived around 630p and talked to a friend outside the restaurant for a bit of time awaiting the crowd to die down. If anything, this place grew busier! I finally entered and was able to be seated immediately at the giant bar. First impression: modern, stylish and energetic! The bartenders quickly attended to me and I was able to order a glass of red wine and score a menu. I chose to order the panzanella salad add shrimp, which was served quickly. While I enjoyed it, I found it the bread to be a bit like giant croutons and less like panzanella salads I'd had in the past. Regardless, the dressing was delightful, shrimp were cooked perfectly and my service was fabulous. The kind bartender chatted with me a bit toward the end of my meal and explained that the restaurant had only been open for a few months and it was just as busy every other night of the week! He also mentioned that most of the people were local and knew each other. No worries, I had a fabulous time and would absolutely come back again next time I'm nearby! read more

We ordered a couple of their cocktails to start, and they did not hold back on the liquor. Barbara, I believe, was our server, she was so nice! We ordered their signature dishes: the fried calamari, roasted Brussel sprouts, linguini white clam pasta, and the chicken peperoncini. The portion sizes were huge which was a nice surprise. Felt very rushed to leave which felt very inconsiderate considering we had a reservation and according to their policy we had two hours total and we had over 30 minutes left. Just unfortunate because several of us traveled from out of town to come to this birthday dinner and we were made to feel very uncomfortable and that we needed to leave. I've lived in the CH since 2008 and I've seen this space transformed before: from Bar & Grill to French, to upscale Mexican. As Il Mio, it's the most transformed I have ever seen. It's as if the owners took everything that is modern dining, and the essence of today's Italy, put it in a bottle, shook it up, and uncorked it into this fresh, lovely space. This Houzz-worthy, head-turning remodel was much needed. I love how the contemporary design elements are carried throughout the entire space. The expanded outdoor dining is so where it's at right now and creates great ambiance. The food was a delight! Upscale, not old school Italian. (There's a time for old-school and that's at your ginormous extended family's Christmas Eve dinner at 2 pm.) I never go wrong with a good Prosecco but they've taken their time to study what's hot in cocktails (and mocktails). The menu was just a perfect symphony of all the that their concept has to offer. The calamari was crispy and light. The pastas are obviously hand made and are heavenly in both taste and texture. The pizza (WOW....so yum!), perfect size as a shareable and the flavor of that sausage is like art in the form of sausage. The dessert menu was a fun mix of Italian foods creations from pizelle s'mores, to gelato. Lemon is my bag, so I indulged in the lemon cake. All the hype about it is legit! I had more pictured something smooth and French-inspired but honestly it was so Italian right down to its dense powder-dusted top and thick, lemony creamy filling.
