Stopped in here for a local date night dinner. We started off with the Sicilian rice balls, which were delicious. I had the halibut entree, my husband the bolognese with homemade pasta. The fish was so fresh and tasty, and my husband said the same about his pasta. We finished off with a succulent chocolate olive oil cake. An unexpected and amazing meal! I just visited il Nido with my family and was very impressed! We made a last minute decision to go out and were all dressed up, looking for a classy place to try. After contemplating where to eat, we chose to go and try il Nido. As soon as we walked in we felt good about our decision because of the great atmosphere- the outside is set with nice heated tents, the inside has a warm and elegant esthetic with a fireplace in one of the areas, and even the bathrooms were clean and pretty! The restaurant is BYOB which at first I was skeptical about, but realized it was more convenient to be able to bring whatever I liked to drink. When the food came I immediately knew that we found a great restaurant. The flavors were definitely an A+ throughout the whole meal. I ordered the black spaghetti with crab and the Fiorentina steak. Also dessert was a perfect way to end the night with a delicious pistachio cake and chocolate flourless cake. We had someone in our party with food allergies and they were very accommodating. The chef even came out to talk to us and clarified a few things. You can immediately tell how passionate he was about the menu and that he really wanted to create delicious and health conscious dishes. The menu is comprised of items that are made with fresh and organic ingredients and it definitely goes without notice! Well done, Great food and a great experience! I made reservations on open table for an early Valentine's Day dinner for my fiancé and I. We arrived and realized we were going to be outside, which looked to be a very cute setup but I asked if we could instead sit inside as I didn't realize I booked an outdoor table. The hostess was kind enough to check on availability, while 5 other couples walked in for their reservations. It was a busy night! To our surprise, the hostess was able to sit us inside at the "chefs table". What a beautiful booth and it was private yet facing the kitchen. We started to browse the menu when the owner, Joe, came by to check on us and ask how we liked the table. Well, we hit it off instantly and had a lot in common. Throughout the night Joe and also his lovely wife checked in on us. I add this in the review because they made our night. They were generous and hospitable and explained why they decided to open the restaurant and pointed out decor that was special and unique. Our server was great and knowledgeable. We were not rushed at all which added to the positive experience. The chef also checked in on us and even brought us a complimentary course .. langostines flew in from Norway that day with tagliatelle. It was dynamite! The overall experience based on our conversations with the owner, Chef, and kitchen staff made our night. This is truly a well run restaurant. The food was impeccable! Everything we ordered was excellent!! The ingredients are top notch. The menu is unique and the portions plentiful. Il Nido is our new favorite restaurant and we will be dining here frequently and spreading the word! Thank you for a fabulous meal and experience! I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant! Gorgeous interior, from rustic decor to comfortable seating, everything is impeccable. The owners put a lot of thought into the design and the aesthetic and it definitely shows! The ambiance is perfect, great for a date night or special occasion. First we started with the cheese board, homemade prosciutto, a few other meats, 4 different types of cheeses, and a mix of marinated veggies and crusty toasted bread. One of the best cheese boards I've had, the prosciutto was definitely a stand out! For dinner I got the mugnaia pasta based off recommendation and it certainly did not disappoint! The homemade pasta was delicious and something I have never seen before elsewhere! I was hesitant at first since there was no protein, but the portions are large and I was stuffed by the time I finished it! My husband got the black spaghetti which had crab in it, he loved his dish as well! My friends ordered the risotto with scallops and the filet mignon and absolutely loved their dishes as well! The food and ambiance were beyond my expectations and I am already planning my return! Do not let the prices deter you, the creative dishes and quality ingredients make for a unique absolutely delicious experience! Superb service from the moment we entered. 1st, the place is beautiful. It's got this warm & inviting rustic elegant garden vibe. We had the mixed greens & grilled octopus for our starter courses. The anchovy vinaigrette on the greens was PERFECT (and I don't even like anchovies). The savory grilled octopus was well-balanced w/ the creamy Cannellini puree. Genius! For our mains, I had the Scallops & hubby had the Prime Ribeye. For dessert, I had the Rcotta Cheesecake w/ Hazelnut Gelato & hubby had the Lemon Tart w/ Chamomile Gelato. Every. Single. Bite was beyond just food... It was an experience, truly! My diet is typically vegetarian, but for this special occasion I was content w/ having seafood. My meal was so good that I plan to try every item on the menu (meat included). This may easily be one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. But dining can't be exquisite w/o top-notch waiter service. We were blessed to have El wait on us this particular evening. His attention to detail was impressive. He patiently answered our questions about the menu. He provided splendid wine pairings for our individual dishes. He let us eat in peace, but popped in briefly to make sure all was to our liking. He noticed during dessert we hadn't touched our brette yet & offered to pour fresh cups so it'd be nice & hot. He even found me in the waiting area after we'd left the table to see if there was a problem w/ my Sauvignon Blanc as I had barely drunk half (my heartburn was kicking in). The two best things about this place are the atmosphere & desserts. It's wayyy too expensive to go here all the time but we went for my cousins birthday. She wanted the parpadelle special with rock shrimp but it was $67!!! That's insane!!! They also have a 32oz steak for $135, definitely for 2 people! We started out with the brussel sprouts, meatballs & burrata (which was very small)...they were all okay. For our mains we got the rigatoni vodka...it could've used some bolognese on top...the gnocchi and halibut...both bland...the risotto with scallops was tasty & the short ribs were amazing...they melted in your mouth!!! Went for a beautiful summer date night. We enjoyed the burrata Jersey girl salad with peaches. If we were not by other people we would have licked the dish. It was that good!!!!! Enjoyed the gnocchi with veal and my husband had the short rib. Wow! It was amazing. Gnocchi melted in your mouth, veal was flavorful and tender and the added texture of the crispy breadcrumb. My mouth is watering as I type. Short rib was also cooked to perfection and delicious. Dessert was good but not as spectacular as our meal. read more

Let me start by saying this place is a Italian culinary experience. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Staff is very knowledgeable and knows the menu. The food is on another level with mostly different dishes you will not find at other restaurants. The menu changes with the season with what's available and fresh. The atmosphere was very cozy and comfortable during a rainy covid night. Table we're spaced out accordingly and everything felt "normal" for once. Staff / service was friendly and outstanding. I am not sure if I even ate at the same restaurant that some of these other reviewers ate at. We started with the Wagyu meatballs and they were just meh. Not much flavor kind of mushy and definitely would NOT order that ever again. The grilled octopus was good. I ordered the RICOTTA GNOCCHI English Peas, Poached Lobster, Mint & Stracciatella. Let me say that I absolutely LOVE ricotta gnocchi and I also make them myself from scratch. This should have been a fantastic dish but at last It was just ok. Nothing spectacular. It had no flavor. For dessert we ordered the Pavlova which was a nice change from other restaurants desserts. That was the best part of the meal. Will I go back? Probably not which is a shame because I still have a gift card. Maybe I will just go back for coffee and dessert. On another note the restaurant is very pretty inside. The problem is we are already over run with Italian restaurants. Give us interesting well presented food. Especially with the rising costs of eating out. I want dining out to be an adventure, I want food that I don't already cook at home. read more

Disappointed to say the least. I have no problem spending money on good food, but $96 for a small plate of Truffle spaghetti is beyond ridiculous. The finest of restaurants in Manhattan do not charge that absurd price. This restaurant is hidden in a small strip mall and people are eating in the parking lot. It is a BYOB. The waiter comes over to the table and brags about how everything is organic and comes from Italy. He reads you the specials, but forgets to tell you the prices. He brags about the imported olive oil on the table, and forgets to bring bread. After which he takes a shot of our tequila!!!! The portions are very small. We were still hungry after we ate. So we ordered the "warm bread pudding", which was ice cold. Thumbs down. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Food needs to be better. Crab cake was very salty and fishy. Meatballs were good but served warm/cold. Sampled a few pasta dishes. None were great. Paccheri was best one. The Fresh pasta was overworked, some we're doughy. Sauces lacked flavor. Had gnocchi with sausage and broccoli rabe. Gnocchi was tough. Little flavor in sauce. I had the Halibut as main. This was great. Cooked perfectly, tons of flavor. Purée and veggies were perfect. A few guys ordered the short rib. None liked it. Served med. rare. Should be slow cooked. Filet looked good, cooked as ordered. Desserts looked good, I didn't have any. read more

Everytime we go there it's like walking into "our place" Every server is knowledgeable and friendly but if you get the chance to sit with Steve please do. The transformation of the old Brioso location into Il Nido is nothing short of amazing and Il Nido is definitely making a mark on the local culinary scene. As a bonus, it's a BYOB so you can enjoy a great bottle with a great meal without spending a fortune! Everything we've had on our 3 visits has been excellent but I have to make a special call out for the Mugnaia (spelling?) which is a sicilian pasta specialty. It's hard to believe that a simple pasta could be life changing but it is! I previously would have called vegetarian onion soup a sacrilege but will now order it every time! The only dish I won't re-order is the wagyu short ribs. Short ribs are already fatty and making them from Wagy beef, while delicious, is just too rich for me. There's a focus her on high quality ingredients and the prices are commensurate but justified. If there's one weak point it's the deserts which, in my opinion, lag the rest of the food. read more
