First of all, Eric who was working is like the nicest man in the world. I had to force him to take my tip lol. They had my pick up order ready in less than 10 minutes. My aunt who eats here regularly suggested we go and I'm glad she did. We ordered the Margherita Pizza And the Ortolana Pizza which came with mushrooms (shiitake, cremini and portobello), cherry tomatoes, Mozzarella cheese and artichokes. Both were thin crust and excellent. I liked that the Ortolana came loaded with veggies. I would like to try some of their other pizzas on the menu too. But, my favorite thing on the menu was the pasta with clams. They are very generous with the clam portion and the sauce was divine. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about this restaurant. I came here in search of high quality pizza and a nice atmosphere to sit for a couple of hours, and Il Porto certainly delivered. The pizza menu is separate from the expansive entire menu, leaving you with many options. We ordered the calamari, which was delicious and a bigger portion than expected (we had leftovers between 3 of us). My sisters got the mushroom and goat cheese bruschetta which they said was very tasty as well. They also bring some BOMB saucy bread so you could go easy on the apps :) For the pizza, we ordered the bianca + mushrooms and the breakfast pizza (La Fiorentina). Both were huge and amazing, though I wouldn't get the bianca again as I personally didn't love the sauce, which I felt lacked a ton of flavor. The La Fiorentina, however, was SO GOOD! Just a side note, you get a free mimosa if you order from the brunch menu! I felt the prices were a little high, but the quantity and quality of the food made up for the price, and seem to match other local pizza prices. Service and ambiance were both great. My friend told me about this place before I had a slice . But this time we had dinner INSIDE the place. We got here around 7:30 and we're seated very fast To our table . Our waitress Anna was our server and she was on point . We each order a glass a Cabernet and started with an Fried Calamari appetizer. My god it was a huge portion I really that it would be a small plate but it was enough for 3-4 people but it was her and I. I took home the other half of the order. We preceded to order the Eggplant parmigiana over Linguine. We thought we would just eat half of this order but we finished it in style seating down. We sat in the back by the Bar and this place was busy on a Friday night by 8pm , there was live music inside by a guitars Charlie was performing. . The restaurant is connected to there pizzeria which is through the back next door. We then stayed and ordered dessert which I rarely do, we split and order of Tiramisu . I forget to post the after picture but it was pretty good too . We were in no rush to eat here and we're able to get our bill and check out in reasonable time. They have a coal fire oven for pizza . It's located near the Bklyn navy yards. I would say it's over a 20 minute walk from the subway...but your get hungry once you settled down to eat. Last week, I ordered lunch for a NYU film production crew of 15 - 30. This included finding a place that had a catering menu, would deliver by a specific time and could satisfy various dietary restrictions (no dairy or beef, vegetarian). I live in Texas, so everything had to be done online or over the phone. I used this restaurant and was blown away with their customer service. This was our last stop on our pizza crawl a few weeks ago. I had tried Il Porto before at a Yelp event that had pies catered to another location and I was really impressed with most of the pies I tried. There was something for everyone and they even make quite a variety of vegetarian pies. My favorites I remember was one with arugula and prosciutto and a garlicy white pie. The grilled chicken pizza was pretty good as well. This time coming back the atmosphere of the place is really nice. It's a fairly large restaurant and kind of cozy for being in an area kind of in the middle of nowhere. Sorry, navy yard. You are the middle of nowhere though. They had a sign out front for some kind of happy hour special on weekdays. I think of buy a beer get 1 free. Being that it was a Saturday and near the end of our crawl none of us felt like drinking but we ordered two large pies. One Ortolana pizza (Shitake, cremini, and portobello mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, artichokes, and mozz) and the Grandma Pie. The mushrooms tasted kind of nice and exotic but it wasn't my favorite pie. It was a touch dry and I think I just wanted more sauce and cheese and all I tasted was shitake and artichoke. The grandma was one of the better slices of the day. Oddly not that thick of a crust (think thin wood burned oven style) but the cheese and sauce on it tasted great. It was a solid medium level of approval. Not the worst on our crawl but not the best. Prices are about average. If we went with less exotic pizzas we would have paid $13 as opposed to over $20 for a pie. They also serve a ton of pastas here. I tried their vodka rigatoni before at the event I mentioned prior and it was divine. Definitely a place worth checking out in the area or if you're close by, order in. read more

This review is long overdue. My girlfriend and I have been eating at Il Porto since we were in high school. We are recent college graduates now and eat here around every week, or whenever we are craving it. The food is some of the best in Brooklyn, and it is consistently good. For all these years I've never had a bad experience- ever. The drinks are always great, the staff is warm and knowledgeable, and I love the energy the restaurant brings. During the beginning of Covid-19, this place was the first business that came to mind to protect. I've been eating here since the pandemic began to make sure it sticks around! Despite the ever changing world around us, nothing has declined about this restaurant. I don't care how cold it may be outside, it's nothing an Old Fashioned and a warm Margherita Pie can't fix. Fantastic Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Every time I have been here the service and the food has been fantastic. They have options to suit just about all food preferences, not completely sure about gluten free options though. Iv had many of the pastas, pizzas, salads & desserts. The spinach salad with pear and gorgonzola is simple yet delectable. There is a full bar, and happy hour, as well as a to go section next to the formal dining room. We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and this restaurant was recommend by our hosts. We arrived at around 10:00PM and were immediately seated. The service was friendly and prompt as our waitress came by and told us about their menu. We started off with the caprese salad which had nice, firm mozzarella cheese, succulent tomatoes and a little spring salad. We then ordered a half and half pizza, half arugula/prosciutto and the other half the triple mushroom. I personally enjoyed the triple mushroom more while my girlfriend enjoyed the arugula/prosciutto more. Let me tell you something, even if you are not vegetarian the triple mushroom pizza is still incredibly tasty. The mushrooms are succulent with a nice firm texture while the cherry tomatoes are juicy and sweet. We polished off with the tiramisu and the cannoli which were both HEAVENLY! If you don't get dessert here you are missing out! The ladyfingers in the tiramisu are nice and spongy, not soggy like other places make them. Possibly the best tiramisu I've ever had. The cannoli shell was nice and crunchy while the ricotta cheese was sweet without being overpowering. A wonderful meal! Highly recommend! read more

I know that we can bring guests on a Saturday night without booking a month in advance. There's a good jazz combo that plays Saturday nights as well. The dishes are big enough to be "family style" but not so large as to be overwhelming. Almost always, my boyfriend and I will order an antipasti or a salad, one pasta dish, and one meat or fish dish. Fitting, then, that our absolute favorite restaurant-- for lunch, for dinner, and even for top-tier catering-- is Il Porto, right across from us on Washington and Flatbush. Il Porto is Italian for The Port, and the name fittingly evokes the ideas of comfort and security amidst chaotic seas. It's a home, a way-station as we go about the hustle and bustle of our professional and personal lives. The restaurant manages to simultaneously be an old favorite, yet always new, and it achieves this through the consistently excellent quality of the food and the unceasingly kind service of its staff. Il Porto boasts a thorough menu of Italian fare-- everything from pizza and pasta to salads and paninis-- but it's the small touches to every dish that makes it stand out. Each meal is filling and flavorful, tasting both classic and subtle at the same time. I was told the restaurant has a live band but we came in the day time for a early dinner so they didn't arrive yet. The atmosphere is cute very nice for outside dining on a beautiful day. Now the food on the other hand that's Another story. I would have to say it presentation wise as a four-star taste wise definitely a two star even possibly a one star. I had two drinks definitely overpriced and you can tell it was very very cheap alcohol used. Our waiter was a little pushy and requesting that we leave since we finished dining tell him as a large party was coming. That didn't make any sense because the restaurant was Pack them away the tables and putting the chairs inside as if they were going to close down since they only had one other table dining. Ugh. So good we came two lunches in a row. The first time it was just out of convenience - doing some work by the film studio next door and happened upon this stop after a long trip from Boston. We were hungry, sweaty, and lugging luggage. We got seated right away at a large table so we had space to stow all of our crap. The menu for lunch isn't huge but just enough due to their flexibility in customizing their items. Day 1- We (two of us) got a large 16" pizza (Ortolana, with large amounts of cremini and portobello mushrooms, stretchy mozzarella, and perfectly roasted cherry tomatoes) - we added arugula and chicken to it and it was absolutely perfection. Crust was nice and chewy with the right amount of crisp. It was absolutely loaded and the toppings that fell off just made a delicious salad on my plate :) Pizza is served with parmesan, chili flakes, and oregano on the side. We also shared a bruschetta (traditional), bread was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, so you aren't scraping the roof of your mouth trying to get a bite. Super yummy with a healthy dose of their olive oil at the table. For dessert, had tiramisu (large portion with a rich scoop of vanilla ice cream), and espressos (they didn't get their milk yet for cappuccinos). The tiramisu was light and the perfect consistency. Really great job with that. Day 2 - This was on the day of the Eurocup finals (Italy vs. England) so we started off with some $4 Peronis to kick us off. They have $4 beer special every day 11AM-5PM so definitely take advantage of that! Food: We had the same pizza but 12" instead. We shared the calamari which was real light and flaky, with warm marina sauce and some juicy lemons. There was also a unique addition of fried basil leaves that added lots of flavor and texture. Really recommend this! Huge portion. Also had the Linguine del Mare. Really rich seafood flavors and strong tomato, smoky sauce. I believe there was also some basil in there. Loads and loads of seafood (including a half lobster tail!) that all tasted very fresh and soaked up the sauce very well. We again had tiramisu but this time with cappuccinos. The service for this last bit was a little odd because the cappuccinos came out a good 10 minutes before the tiramisu (unsure why it took forever for tiramisu to come out) and so by the time we had our tiramisu the cappuccinos were cold :( But otherwise tasted good! It was perfectly fresh with great flavor in every bite. It had 8 slices and fed our family of 4. From the thin crust, fresh tomato & basil to the fresh mozzarella, you won't go wrong ordering this brick wood burning pizza. The Portobello Tower has a light sweetness that melted in your mouth with every bite. The crab croquettes were a 4 out of 5, but only because I like the outer to not be so cooked. The service, though, was definitely not where it should be. We had to ask four times for bread, which finally came near the end of the meal. And before dinner we sat at the bar hoping to get started with a drink. No chance, since the bar was unattended. This isn't the fault of the staff, but of management. The strange smokey flavor was offputting. The pesto pasta was incredibly lacking in flavor, the pizza however was amazing, so was the free bread. Hello. I ate at IL Porto last evening. (8/4/17) I walked in fairly late at night and I was still welcomed and seated right away. That always is a huge plus when you first walk into a place you have never been before. Friendly service, fresh food, and also the taste of the food was on point. I ordered the caesar salad which was literally one of the best caesar salads I have ever had in my life, noexaggeration. Also this salad is served in a (I believe it's deep fried I think??) parmesan cheese bowl!!!! It was so refreshing and delicious!! I also ordered the clams and my boyfriend ate them all in 30 seconds!!!! I would certainly recommend IL Porto to others, even though I did not try their brick oven pizza.
