I went here after the BK Museum First Saturday & it was clear that a lot of people had ventured here. They were gracious enough to keep open for a bit longer even though they genuinely didn't have to. I got the carbonara pizza without the meat & it was great. Wasn't sure if a small boutique pizza spot would have vegan cheese and plant based pepperoni but lo and behold they do!! Woot! Ordered a glass of Lambrusco and Peroni on draft and enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere for a Saturday date night without needing reservations with soft warm lighting that was easy on the eyes, and cozy atmosphere with warming chili oil to drizzle over the pizza on a cold winter night. The pizza was just enough for two, with crust that was hand tossed with loose bubbles in the edges, the vegan cheese was melty and flavorful, and the plant based pepperoni had an excellent near familiar flavor (not the chorizo substitute kind). When these were paired with the artichokes and onions and a dash of rosemary on the Coppa- the result was absolutely delish *chefs kiss*. Over the past two years since my last review, I've been back many times to Ogliastro for more of that incredible vegan pizza. Time to report back! First of all, their happy hour M-T, has a nice array of snacks (don't sleep on their hummus with focaccia) and reasonably-priced drinks. It feels almost like aperitivo in Italy. Now that I've had the vegan pepperoni I can report that it's pretty good! It's pricey at a $7 add-on, and I'm not sure I love it enough to warrant that. I prefer the way they load on the vegetables add-ons (perfectly fresh arugula and olives are my faves... the mushrooms, while plentiful, aren't my favorite variety but that's not a complaint, just a personal preference). Veggie build-your-own pizza with vegan cheese and red sauce is my jam. Ok and that nero d'avola (avail by the glass) is really lovely. It's a special place for my friends and I can't wait for the weather to get warm again so that on my next visit to Brooklyn, we can enjoy that gorgeous outdoor garden! read more

Probably a better dish when plated properly, but in a takeout box, it felt a little dainty and underwhelming. Now, the pizza? Absolute winner. Ogliastro is a really cozy restaurant! My friend and I enjoyed the ambiance a lot and it waa great place for us to sit down for a nice meal. The Rucola e Pera salad was my favorite, every bite had a nice mix of ingredients and the pizza croutons were a fun add! The Carciofi pizza and shishito peppers were also great. Sat in the front booth table on a Monday after a casual bike ride. We ordered the pollo salad with breadcrumbs and green goddess dressing and the carbonara pizza (white pizza with egg) - I would recommend 2 eggs for future. The pollo salad was delicious and hit the spot! Re-ordered it several times as takeout and it has been delicious but the chicken has been inconsistent. The first time dining in, the chicken was flattened and crispy. Other times it has been piping hot but not as crispy. The overall flavor is consistent though. Love the pizza, love the atmosphere. We ordered a three pizzas -- two red and one gluten free -- for four people, and shared two starter salads (the Mista). While I didn't taste the gluten-free, I heard it was wonderful. I can personally attest to the delicious Coppa and Polpette pies. All the food was fantastic -- as was the bottle of Sangiovese. What I like about Ogliastro is that they have an extensive pizza menu that, alongside classic pies like pepperoni, meatballs, arugula and prosciutto, mushrooms, etc... they also have inventive pies such as clams and shrimp, homemade lamb sausage, or pancetta and potatoes. You can also build your own pie with the ingredients listed under "The Constructivist" section of their menu, which sounds fun! And if you would like something else than pizza, their extensive menu offers a lot of side dishes such as burrata, meatballs, marinated artichoke wrapped in speck, baby broccoli with anchovy and pecorino, roasted cauliflower, roasted figs, and more. I haven't tried it (yet), but their Oli Burger with short rib and brisket blend with dry aged fat and Raclette cheese sounds amazing. Came in by myself after checking out the neighborhood and had such a good time. Got there in time for happy hour, so I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender. He was so knowledgeable about the menu, the owners and the restaurant. I had such a great time learning about the place. From the HH menu, I went with this lovely women owned winery's Rosé. Classically appointed Italian spot with great pendant lights and full bar running the length of the restaurant. We came in on a weekday evening and were seated immediately . The server knew the menu well and helped us choose pizza and drinks. The frise salad had pear and Gorgonzola chips... awesome and well balanced . But we came for the pizza and the margarita was exceptional. Thin base crust with a bit of a chew on the crust and stood to a two finger hold. Sauce and mozzarella were excellent and the fresh basil was added after the pie was pulled out of the oven. Another good touch! As usual, we present ourselves as a five-top. Our order consisted of two white pizzas, a margerita and mine a Bufalo plus anchovies. The magic here is most certainly the rear al fresco deck. I can imagine it's quite the location at night - as during daylight the dappled sunlight through the leaves overhead is straight out of a Seurat painting. Really poor, rude service and disgusting soggy, floppy cold pizza. At least if the food is going to be this bad the staff should be nicer and actually provide service. This is a during-COVID pandemic review. We ate outside (because social distancing) and it was really nice because although we were outside, it was warm enough and pleasant. The food was great and admittedly did not take a photo because I was hella hungry - but fried artichoke salad will always make me happy and whole. The pizza was pretty damn good and I don't know if I was just happy to be out and about or if it was just a great experience but I'll be back to test this theory when the world normalizes. When you find a gem in the neighborhood it's so exciting!! I've passed by this spot over 100+ times and finally went in for a friend's birthday pizza party...get it pizza party! LOL....ok weak joke.
