BEWARE Wolf in Sheep Clothing!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!…read more As you can see from the picture attached, Rubenstein looks smart and respectable. But BEWARE! PandaPop was diagnosed by Rubenstein with Fuchs Dystrophy. Rubenstein said PandaPop needed EMERGENT surgery in the next week and PLUS while treating the Fuchs Dystrophy, he might as well do cataract surgery on my eye, because everyone eventually needs it. (even though I was in my forties and had no signs of cataract) I got four other opinions: Yale, Northwestern, UIC, and The Mayo Clinic. All four made the same diagnosis HOWEVER, ALL other doctors said to DO NOTHING. "NEVER let anyone touch your eyes unless it is getting difficult to see" they advised. When I told Mayo (in Minnesota ) what my Chicago doctor recommended, the Mayo doctor made my mouth drop wide open when he asked "Was that Jonathan Rubenstein at Rush that recommended this new surgery!!!?!!. (I never told Mayo the doctor or hospital I saw in Chicago)......The Mayo doctor said, "Rubenstein is known nationwide for doing unnecessary surgeries and doing latest surgeries because of his ego and wanting to speak at ophthalmology conferences" !!!!!! PandaPop never got the surgery Rubenstein recommended. This was 15 years ago! My eyes are fine..... and the "emergent surgery needed" by Rubenstein was a LIE !!!!!! [But since Rubenstein makes so much money for Rush (with his unnecessary surgeries), they promoted him to Chair of Opthalmology]

I was referred here by my PCP, called to make my appointment almost a month prior to my appointment date. I arrived early for my 1:30pm appointment and was able to complete my new patient paper work before my scheduled appointment time. After waiting 75 minutes(so now it's 2:45pm), I asked the very nice lady at the front desk if she knew how much longer it might be. she apologized and checked... she then says there were still 5 patients ahead of me, back in waiting rooms, waiting to be seen by the doctor. Another patient who had been waiting an hour voiced her concerns as well and a gentleman from the doctor's office poked his head out from a back area and almost sarcastically said "well, we only have one doctor" as if it was our fault for having the audacity to schedule an appointment that they accepted. I understand sometimes things happen outside of your control, but whoever is managing the scheduling here needs a reality check. This was the most disrespectful waste of people's time I've ever experienced during a scheduled appointment.

The office was packed with patients. when I asked about the backlog, I was told there was only one doctor available. I questioned the efficacy of scheduling so many patients on a day when they had obviously overbooked. I was met with arrogance and disdain . Basically, I was told like it or get out by the office manager. I did leave and now I'm forced to find another retina specialist as I won't be going back to that office

I have been dealing with eye doctors for last 22 years and saw about dozen of them or more…read more Research of eye doctors on line and from multiple sources led me to make appointment with Doctor Ahuja. My reason for notorious search for the right doctor is very simple. Modern medicine practices are about money and continuous treatment instead of cure. Visits to doctors reminds me assembly line with 5 minutes time per part-patient. Yes sometimes there is no cure and continuous treatment is necessary and in such case you have to have a doctor who knows his field who will spend with you more than 5 minutes and take everything you have to say about your condition into consideration to make proper diagnosis and prescribe effective treatment. .After several visits to Dr Ahuja I concluded that he is the doctor whom I should visit 22 years ago and I am positive that half of my eye problems would likely never happen because I concluded as well that half of my problems were created by..........eye doctors. Dr Ahuja dedicates to you as much time as needed if it's 15 minutes or an hour. He has ability and patience to explain your problems advise and prescribe proper treatment if needed, He will answer all your question in language that you will understand. Even Though I am still seeing different eye specialists I still want to know what dr Ahuja's opinion is and have more complete explanation-picture about my condition and prescribed treatment. If you have any kind of eye problems I would highly recommend to start with Dr Richard Ahuja. No, I did not omit his personality in this review, its marked at the very top and measured in stars.
