I was told to leave because I asked if this line was broken, I watched 5 cars go through the other two lanes and waited 35 minutes before asking, I was three cars from the entrance, and never moved. Then they sent out what I assume was security to tell me to leave they are refusing to test me. I asked if the machine in line was broken because I was tired of waiting and had to pick up my 5 year old from school. Yes I was frustrated watching cars who came after me get in other two lanes and got through, while we sat in one line. I am making a appointment to talk to the Sec. of State about this matter. They are incompetent at best and needs definite better supervision/managers. I was refused service so now when I get pulled over I have video ready from my car to prove it in court. read more

It's in crystal lake so there will never be anyone there which makes you think you'll be in and out. But it's a trash place with uneducated and definitely untrained workers. The woman doing my test tells me to pay cash because there is a $9.50 charge for using cards. Good advice you would think.. I went to take out money from the atm to avoid the fee and when I get back they say they ONLY take cards. And this just so happened to fall on the day before my direct deposit so after taking out the money and was told they don't accept cash and only cards I was short EXACTLY $1.42.. so to avoid paying a $9.50 fee I was told to pay with cash it cost me an extra 45min, Lots of stress and at the end of the day I had to go to a currency exchange and pay a higher fee because of their advice. Listen- this is just another way government invades our lives. The air is cleaner now than it has been in decades. Government contracts to emission contractors and the subsequent kickbacks to political campaigns that allow for these contractors is not responsible for this clean air. It is the engineering of car manufacturers. Infact, the cars that pollute the most- diesel and pre 1996 cars are exempt! This is just another scam the politico's have imposed on the sheep they shepherd. Finally, while most of us in the private sector work 60 hours or more a week just to keep our jobs, these clowns are open with bankers hours meaning more than likely you must take a day off just to get your smog test. Saturday hours are a joke. These guys should be open at least until 7pm weekdays and until 5pm on the weekends, just like retail. read more

Be aware that this place charges you $7.50 to use a debit or credit card. Highway robbery as their cost to accept cards is less than 3% of the purchase amount. So it's a pure profit center for them. Oh, I'll pay cash to avoid the $7.50 charge. "We don't accept cash." Then I'll pay with a check. "We don't accept checks either." So you're screwed to pay this toll no matter what. Better to take your emissions results to the DMV and get your sticker from them. read more

This is the first time I've ever had to get my car tested for emissions since moving to Illinois 3 years ago. The notice I received made it sound like I would have to wait in a long line of cars to get the test done so I was a little worried. But when I showed up on a Friday around 5 pm after I got off work I had no wait. The process was painless and went much quicker than I thought it would. I was in and out in under 10 minutes total. And I passed! Yippee! The tech doing the test was courteous and gave me clear instructions on what to do so I had no problems at all! read more

Four hours waiting in line, there's police everywhere- yet they didn't do anything about the yellow car in front of me that repeatedly didn't move until MULTIPLE people were honking and screaming at him. At one point he actually left his vehicle and started walking around. It's obnoxious. Took an additional hour because of this. Still haven't gotten in here. Heed my advice: get this done ASAP when you get the notice. Due to the hours of operation, I couldn't get in until today- and it's a nightmare. read more

Do not renew any registration here! They literally charge you $7.50 for any payment .... oh and only credit or debit. Oh and if you have multiple registrations they have to be charged separately, so they can get their $7.50 each. So they get charged 3% and they keep all the rest.... ridiculous! Robbery! read more

Get in early and you will fly right on through. If you wait for Saturday before the end of the month your going to have a bad time. I have always had a good experience with this place, it's all of the other motorists and the big government crap that makes it a pain in the butt. No line, no wait! I went at about 2:30pm on a Thursday, a week before the end of the month. The staff was very polite and courteous! They do offer sticker renewal for an additional $7.50 convenience fee (no cash payments). Which, if you've ever spent any about of time at the Secretary of State you know that's the last place you want to be. I highly recommend this location! read more

First of all ,the place is well organized and employees were professional which is great I would give this 3 stars based on that but then you have the wonderful option of paying for your registration here also and that comes with a whopping 7.50 $ service charge.I am fed up with the gouging of the general public by our spoiled rotten government.7.50 for us to pay the governemnt 100.00$ for another thing is ridiculous.I say we cut our government employees pay and them see how much we can really get for our money.I think alot of Americans will do this work for less.I think maybe instead of paying immigrants bottom dollar to do private sector work we should pay them the minimum to do the public sector work that is costing us all a fortune. read more
