This is the first time in a loonngg time that we decided to visit it one more time cause we know it's been renovated 7-8 yrs ago i think? We reserved a suite room and celebrated my and husband's birthday weekend. After dinner, we just had our pregame in our room to save $ on drinks before we headed to the lounge. The place was a lot better than the old one since it looks more spacious. It was not crowded for a Saturday night and that was really great. There's a few tables and seats downstairs but we preferred going upstairs and that's where we stayed. Only 2 of the 4 sofas/tables were occupied so that was really good. They play all kinds of music and I like the dj coz he knows what he's doing with mixing and playing good ones. However, the downside being upstairs is that noone or any of the staff will go there to ask for your order. You have to go down and get them yourself. Also, I noticed that they don't set rules for dress code anymore even though it says on the website. You see people with just shorts, shirts and sleepers and/or sandals on. So it was kind of a turn-off for me. They should require people dressed accordingly before they let them in. Indeed, a beautiful place. Seating areas are first come first serve. There is a 2nd floor with seating as well but the walkway is pretty narrow. It's convenient that there is also a bathroom up there. Came here on a Saturday night. No IDs checked prior to entry. No cover fee. The place was packed! On their website, there was a dress code. When we got there, almost everyone is in normal clothing attire. We were unaware that you could literally wear anything! If you are in a group, even if you are not going to drink or get a drink, the bartender will literally deny your group purchase of alcohol if everyone do not show their ID. You'd literally have to step away from your group, just so they can buy their drinks. Find this really interesting. The music was nice at the beginning of the night but at the end of the night, mainly EDM. read more

ILLUSIONS - Thunder Valley Casino Resort's, three million dollar, newly refurbished ultra lounge. (Las Vegas caliber swankiness... 'And it shows.) Since moving back from the OC mid-last year, I've been hearing chatter of the area's casinos either from friends, TV or radio commercials but had yet to visit one. I'm not much of a "planner," the extent of most plans just focuses around me not being dead @ the end of the day... 'Generally. On my drive out to Auburn earlier that afternoon, I could not help but notice all the Thunder Valley billboards peppered along the freeway. So, it was an option... 'And here I was, my first casino visit since my "Back to the Bay" move. It was around 8pm as I was making my return drive from Auburn, I thought I'd do a pop-in @ the Thunder Valley Casino since I happened to be in the area. It was a Tuesday evening, the front parking lot was about half-full which was perfect for me as I'm personally not a fan of large crowds in general. 'Nothing says "Casino," like herds of chain smoking, booze guzzling senior citizens. - You have arrived. After a brief tour of the casino floor and cutting through the Thunder Bar, I ended up here @ Illusions. ILLUSIONS Hours: 10AM - 2AM daily $10 Cover Fridays & Saturdays (8pm to 1am) Live DJ Friday & Saturday (9pm to 1am) Non-smoking facility Illusions made its opening debut on New Year's Eve, selling out to a huge holiday crowd. 'Speaking with a few of the team members, many were very happy with their first night's turnout. The ultra lounge also has a strict dress code which is understandable after investing three million dollars to class the casino up in a attempt to elevate it to the next level. After all, it's aiming to establish itself as high-end posh, not bus depot fabulous. My first thought when I saw the name, Illusiuons, "A magic venue?... 'Cool." I wasn't sure if it was open to the public or a private area but another patron walked in ahead of me, so I simply strolled in right behind him. The first thing I noticed was the drastic decrease in noise from the outside casino floor. I walked in, looked around, and was immediately drawn to the center of the room by the guh'roovie light fixture suspended from the ceiling. I was reminded of the Harry Potter films, in which the Great Hall is filled with floating candles. (Yes, I'm a big nerd/geek, kinda comes with the whole "Artist Package." 'And yes again, I do go to the San Diego Comicon as well.) After a few minutes, I was approached by Dani, the host/waitress asking if she could help me w/anything. I told her that this was my first visit to the casino and just happened to walk into Illusions out of curiosity... 'The next thing I know, Dani's leading me up the winding staircase to the upper mezzanine where she gave me a brief tour/history on the newly opened lounge. (Which as of then, had opened its doors about a week ago on 12/31/14.) The decor/layout is very posh, from the design & layout, variable lighting system, to its rich texture and warm color palette. I can imagine how crazy-packed this place can be on the weekends. On Friday & Saturday evenings, there is a live DJ and dancing. (9pm to 1am) However, with that said, there is no officially designated "Dance floor," BUT that's merely a building code, technicality more than anything else. As nice and spacious as Illusions is, I could see elbow room being a challenge especially on the weekends. TIP: If you come on a busy Friday/Saturday evening, I suggest staking out a claim at one of the tables since that's going to be prime real estate as the venue fills up throughout the night. Illusions seems to be set up for a larger "standing crowd," so setting up base camp for your entourage early would be a smart plan. I took a seat @ the bar where bartenders, Mike & Brian, helped me navigate the drink menu. Apparently the hot trend today is smoke infused cocktails... So, let's try that! Round 1(Mike) - "Flowers on Fire" ($16) Okay; "different"; VERY smoky; good flavor Round 2 (Brian) - "Tea Garden Cooler" ($12) Good; refreshing; light; good flavor The drink prices are relatively standard for similar venues but IMO, a bit on the weak side, lots of ice. Probably one of the nicer joints at Thunder Valley. TV is a super dirty casino... It's kind of gross. This lounge is overpriced and loud. The new look of what used to be called the falls bar is pretty cool. It's sleek, clean and comfortable. Sunday- Thursday its all about happy hour. I think happy hour on small bites is from 11-4 and for drinks it's from 4-7. I stopped by a couple times last week for drinks. The happy hour is 1/2 off regular drinks, wine, beer and a couple drinks off their drinks menu. I found most of the drinks on their menu to be a little too sweet for me (just by reading the ingredients). I'm more of a goose and soda girl but the Julius caesar was refreshing. Both times I went the bartenders were really friendly and working so hard. I'll have to find an occasion to do the bottle service. Maybe for a birthday or something but it would be fun to check it out. Prices seem pretty reasonable too! Can't wait to go back to check out some of the food options. read more

Such a great improvement from Falls Bar! They completed renovated the place and took it from a typical smoky casino bar to a Vegas style ultra lounge. Don't get me wrong, I definitely had my fair share of fun at Falls but Illusions is a completely different concept. By far the best improvement is the layout. The bar is now positioned against the far wall which leaves the middle of the room open for seating and dancing. They also added on an upstairs area with seating that looks down onto the dance floor so in total the bar can now seat 166 people. The décor is swanky; stone floor, lots of mirrors, steel fixtures and red seating. The drink menu is a bit pricey but not more than you would expect from this kind of lounge. Glasses of wine range from 8-16 and cocktails are 10 and up. During the day from 11-4, they also serve small bites that include prawn cocktails, sliders (they are so good!), bacon-wrapped shrimp and oysters. I love any place that has oysters! One last thing that I always feel is important to mention is that the staff was great. The place was packed when I was there but the bartenders and the cocktail waitresses were still so friendly and attentive. So far, I am a huge fan and the group of people I was with last time agree. I would take Penny C.'s 1 star review with a grain of salt. Maybe Penny did have a less than stellar experience, maybe she just went on an off night, or maybe she was offended by women in tight short dresses ;) Either way, I will definitely be back! read more

Came here last night for The Night out at Thunder Valley event hosted by Metrowize. Free shuttle ride to and from Venue. Awesome Sauce!! First time ever going into Illusions since they've opened. Noone wants to pay in. C'mon now! Tonight was different. No cover charge and we had free drinks all night! Place was closed off for the private event. It was beautiful inside. Will never go there again. Went there last September for a birthday, we had a great time! Decided to go there again last night for another birthday it sucked! They took away the little bit of seating they had. You have to stand up or make reservations for the 3 vip areas. Don't know what that costs. There was one seating area close to the dance floor, it was taken. My friend asked one of the people in there why they took away the seating and she said "oh people like to dance". Really? During the day and most weeknights this place is the best happy hour spot at Thunder Valley with $2.50 Sierra Nevada and amazing signature cocktails. The staff is always quick, friendly, and so helpful. If a football game is on, skip the center island bars and make a trip to Illusions. On weekends when this becomes a nightclub I suggest you avoid it at all costs. First, they want at least a $10 cover charge. If you have never been in this place let me fill you in; it is half the size of my apartment! Who is trying to go "clubbing" in my kitchen (let alone pay $10 for the privilege)? Went there to celebrate a birthday and I didn't really know what to expect. While I was waiting in line I was told I might not get in because of my shoes because they were too close to flip flops. I thought that was ridiculous and should be clearly stated somewhere because that was not mentioned on their dress code online. Only tank tops, collard shirts, dresses and mid drifts were mentioned. Thankfully I didn't waste my time and was able to get in with my group, otherwise I would have just gambled and gone home anyways. They stamp your wrist before going in. The ambiance was a cool night life with a lot of pendant lights and blue colors. There were some benches to sit that weren't reserved. I heard it was over 600 for a table from someone. There was also a second story, but only VIP was able to go up there and look down. The vip bathroom is upstairs too so if your looking for a bathroom you have to leave and go into the casino. There is a small space in the middle were some people will join in to dance. They had a DJ playing current rap, raver and pop music, but there were a lot of pauses and awkward transitions in between the songs you can't really dance to. The bar tenders provided great service, drinks and were very attentive. I would visit again. read more

Women grinding on guys sitting on the couch...Think cheap strip club with very unattractive women. Women with dresses so short you could see their butt cheeks, women with tight dresses looking five months pregnant and the list goes on. Anyway, I won't be coming back. We left after 20 minutes. We are not big into clubbing or going out at night. We usually appreciate a nice wine or jazz bar. However, we decided to try something different this time. The bar is full of people and they have more "Reserved" seating than they really need. Money well spent! I took my mom here for her surprise 60th birthday party!! I worked with Gina P. throughout my entire experiences. Gina is amazing and I highly recommend her if you decided to book this venue. The prices for VIP are a bit pricey but the management team worked with me and gave me a price that better fit my budget. The entire experience was amazing and smooth. Gina decorated our VIP area, gave us juices and water, despite not having bottle services, and chocolate strawberries. My entire party was super impressed with the venue and stated they plan on booking their next event here. Oh the DJ, was really good too. When I got here say for 30 min with blank screens on 3 Tvs and only one local televised game on other Tvs. Staff explained they didn't know how to change channels? Last weekend our group had a booth at this dumb place. They wouldn't serve us at the bar and later apologized because they mistook my group for another party that had been cut off. We had bought bottle service and the bartender was disrespectful. One of the guys from my group was upset and knocked down one of the rope poles. My buddy apologized but they kicked him out even though they admitted they treated my group wrong. Our whole party ended up leaving and security were slapping our hands away as we tried taking photos of their name tags. Small swanky bar in the middle of Thunder Valley. We were the early for cocktails and service was great and the bartenders and both friendly. Not bad prices. There were some raunchy people thrusting on each other in the leather seats. Mind you, it wasn't dance. Just an awkward lap dance happening in the room. The clientele isn't somewhere you'd want to be seen, so bring a group of friends to make it fun. I've been in this "lounge" twice, the first time was this past summer for a birthday celebration. There was a Caucasian female at the bar and she made herself appeared to be by herself most of the night. First time partied in the bar. What a joke! I'm not sure if I'm too old but the whole vibe tacky! Went to a Bday party there and first had to pay a $10 cover charge. I was OK with that thinking that would filter out the riff raff. Some of the party got there early so they could save an area for us to sit together. I don't think it was necessary because the place was empty. It was about 8:30pm at the time of arrival. We got the first drink without any incident. About 15 mins into our stay the waitress comes over and asks can your party move over because we need this area for another party. So a little confused we move to another area. We look over to our original area and notice there are about 5 people sitting there. They didn't pay a reserve area so we were wondering why they were given that area. We let it go and 5 mins later the waitress comes over and asks if we can move out of the area and back to the area we were originally sitting. We asked really why? She said so sorry it was a mistake and this area is reserved for somebody who paid for it. Talk about annoying. We just wanted to party and drink! So we move back to our original area. We settle in and drink and dance. Tip - do not leave your drink while you dance because it will be gone when u get back. The drink could be half full!!!!!!! This place needs a reality check! This is a review based on going to Illusions on a Sunday afternoon. I really like what they've done to this place. The decor is retro yet fresh and the bartenders are friendly. I was pleased with my happy hour cocktail. It was $5 and was a premium bourbon specialty cocktail. Overall, I like the space of this ultra lounge...it's not too big or small. I think gatherings and mingling oftentimes are better in not-so-cavernous spaces. This was just right. I plan on bringing friends here. Might even splurge a little and do the bottle service thing.
