    I've been a member for the past few months and have loved the classes and the coaches. However, with the owner/coaches' response (or lack thereof) to the summer heat, our class/workout experience has severely suffered. The last couple months have been TOO HOT in the kickboxing studio. I know I'm not the only client who's noticed this, or talked to multiple coaches about this. On the days that the air conditioning is set to 68 degrees or higher (honestly probably even lower than this) every kickboxer's moves are noticeably slower by Round 2 in the class. Many of us have been getting overheated, dizzy, and nauseated within the first half of the class due to the studio's conditions. The heat is causing the first symptoms of heat exhaustion conditions in multiple people each class. It is not fair to the clients/students that we are not getting our money's worth or workout's worth because it feels like the desert in the studio and there isn't an adequate amount of cooling or fans (which only really cool down 2-3 people per fan). Yes, there are classes where the air conditioning is at an appropriate level, and you've probably noticed clients/students in better spirits then -- more energized and happy and motivated, and keeping up with the workouts better (not dying of heat and fighting/struggling with that the whole time) --during those classes. Please keep the air conditioning levels at a healthy, good place consistently; or if the kickboxing studio can't afford it or coaches who aren't working out really hate wearing a sweater at the desk-- then please add more fans around the studio.

    ILKB has really helped get me back into good habits with working out. It is THE best stress reliever and the community allows you to feel comfortable. The coaches and music are also great! It's even allowed me to feel more confident with wearing a crop top from time to time! Get ready to sweat and burn!! Overall, my physical and mental health have definitely gotten better.

    I love the social community in kickboxing, the instructors are all super motivating to keep the fitness energizing and engaging. I have definitely toned up after almost a year of being here.     Thank you Angel and Sway for an awesome first class! While I personally am not new to kickboxing, my girl Kean and I took our very first class at this particular studio, iLoveKickboxing in Poway. We thought it was so sweet that they put our names on the "First Time Fighters" board which was a nice welcome to their studio. New fighters: make sure you arrive 30 minutes early to meet with your personal coach that day so he/she can show you the swing of things. Angel was very warm and helpful in showing us around and teaching us the proper form in doing our kicks and punches. You could definitely feel the community and love surrounding the students and instructors. Note: if you are unconditioned, the 15 minute warmup will be very intense to you but the intention is to prepare you for what's to come. They have you run laps, do jumping jacks and burpees to get your muscles warm, then give you a little stretch after. After that, the really fun part (for us) begins. Although I was already a bit familiar with the moves, it was great to get the individualized attention in making sure we properly executed our hooks, cross jabs and roundhouse kicks. So much fun!! I like that it serves as a HITT workout as you get little breaks in between to hydrate and regroup. Towards the end, they pair you up with a partner and you do light sparring followed by a cooldown. The only caveat with me is the pricing. Since I'm already a GXI at another gym and train on my own, it was just too steep for me and I have other financial burdens that prevent me from committing. However, I believe they are willing to work with you on pricing which is fantastic! I personally only plan on going once a week which does not justify the cost. But it is worth the money though, don't get me wrong. That being said, I like to mix in Yoga, Body Pump and Body Combat so my routine is not exclusive to kickboxing alone, which is the main reason, aside from finances, that I don't feel a monthly membership will work for me. They do offer package deals which I am still considering saving up for because I did truly love their class and because it will give me more flexibility with my schedule. Please give them a try and look into their first-time starter packages for newbies. You won't regret it! Thank you Angel and Sway!

    I was inactive, out of shape before I joined in April of 2018 and I have been a member since then and have gradually become an active, healthy individual over the course of 5 years. My anniversary date is approaching and those 5 years have been the healthiest I have ever become since in my late 20s. There is probably more room for improvement but I have gained knowledge, freedom, confidence, and new friendships here. We all have a common goal - not only to lose a few pounds, inches but to embody an active, healthy individual. Do not feel intimidated because I have come a long way but I started just like you not knowing the moves, feeling awkward with the punches, couldn't hold a plank, struggling to do a burpee. The gym is clean, the coaches are awesome, and the members are helpful. Just come join us! Everyone is welcome.

    5 Stars!!! I am very impressed with I love kickboxing. The staff is friendly and motivating. Everyone is on their own fintness Journey and Poway kickboxing recognize that! The instructors are encouraging to all guest and the combos are easy to follow. I signed up for their 6 week Challenge, the best investment I have ever made. I lost 10 lbs, gained muscle mass and reduced my fat. Bonus they provided me with nutrition guide. Before this I wasn't able to lose weight or I put it back on. The classes go by fast! I'm now more energetic, healthier and happier. I've made their classes apart of my schedule. I'm excited to continue the program!! The instructors are absolutely amazing!!! Everyone know my name and greets me when I come into class. I've made friends in the classes and it feels like family not just another gym with a membership!!!

    Phenomenal!!! I'm a mom of 3, I have mom curves and was dealing with Postpartum. I joined the 6 week Challenge this past holiday season to lose 6% body fat. 11-16-2021 through 12-27-2021. This class was Amazing!!!!! My first class was exciting and I couldn't wait for more!! I was excited to attend class because it gave my body the workout that I reeeeeeaaallly need! I love the coaches and pre Cardio workout before the actually bag contact! The music pumped me up and I loved the speed everything was at. I lost 6.4 % body fat and Lost 22.4 pounds and gained 2.6 in muscle. I feel amazing. I shall continue my health Journey. I'm so happy that ILKB helped me fine tune those parts I really needed help in. I highly recommend this fun place. It's great to let off steam.

    My journey with I love kickboxing was terrific! It was challenging yet so rewarding. When I started, I didn't feel like myself, it was a mid-year, and I hadn't been to the gym or worked out a single day; I kept pushing my physical and mental health as my last priority until I realized I needed to change. I have a family history of type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol, and I didn't want to push my body in the wrong direction anymore. I felt tired and would sleep more than I should have because I had no energy and was unproductive. Before starting this challenge, I had just gone for my yearly physical and found out I weighed more than ever, and my cholesterol level was slightly elevated. I have now lost 9 pounds and feel amazing! I will keep applying everything I've learned about fitness and nutrition and make better choices. This challenge wasn't just to lose some weight and return to old habits; this was a stepping stone for a healthy future! I want to thank everyone at the studio for answering all my questions and taking the time to guide me in the right direction! They are inspiring, and kick boxing is so much fun! It's a great stress reliever! I will continue to go as I have already bought classes for the year!

    My 6 week challege results: -2% body fat/ -10 lbs. I enjoyed the simplicity of the challenge and how well it worked with my schedule and my family. I'm not a between meals snacker so adding the shakes made me realize how much they help boost my energy during my 10-12 hour workday. The workouts are cherry on top, always a challenging great time. I appreciate the encouragement from all the staff and the other members pushing hard. I am staying as a member and can't wait to see the changes in my body!

    UPDATE! Told you I'd be back! Lol. Finished my 6 week challenge last night and couldn't be happier with my results!! I gained 4.3% muscle, lost 7.7% body fat and lost a total of 9.8lbs all in 6 weeks. The 6 weeks flew by, you know what they say time flies when you're having fun These coaches taught me amazing new eating habits I'll continue to use. Kick boxing is my newest addiction and I can't wait for my next class with my new 20oz ILKB gloves

    Six weeks ago, I started this challenge not realizing that I'd feel so amazing. I managed to lose 7.8 % body fat and 10 lbs in six weeks which means that I got through the challenge for free. Well I say free but in exchange, I channeled a lot of energy into it that was well worth it. The coaches were great in providing advice and encouraging me through the ups and downs. The classes were very involved, helpful and engaging. I got better at using my body to punch and kick a bag. The diet they provided was not crazy and pushed me to be healthier and mindful of what I put in my body. If you're looking for a way to get back into shape or you just need to change up your routine for the better, this six week challenge is for you

    Hi everyone! I did it! I lost 7 % of fat in 6 weeksJ!!! I also gained 3.5 % of muscle and lost 9.5 lbs. I'm happier and have more energy now every day. I love how my clothes fit so much better without my belly sticking out. Below is a picture of me in my skinny jeans that fit againJ. This program really works! I was skeptical after my 3 weeks weight check because I only lost 2.5 % of fat at that time but I didn't want to give up. I was told to drink a gallon of water daily to help the process and I did. This was not an easy journey but an extremely rewarding one. The first week was the hardest, being forced to have a meal plan every day was tiresome but I got in down. I got really good at making omlets, pictured below. I ate these every other day, often times with egg whites. The biggest lesson for me was how important protein is at our diet. I had no idea. I never ate so much protein in my life! Most of the days I substituted one protein serving with an extra shake; I couldn't eat so much meat. Shakes are yummy and fun, I threw in spinach and kale all the time. I also developed a habit of eating lots of vegetables every day which I could never do before. I greatly appreciate all the wonderful coaches, their help and advice. I fell in love with kickboxing. Thank You all so much for everything!!!

    When I started the 6 week challenge, I really didn't know what I was getting into and how it would impact me. I was already an active person, but active at my own pace. The workouts force you to push yourself, and the diet tests your will. Ultimately, the coaches can point you in all the right directions, but I knew that it would all come down to me and my commitment to my goals. When an instructor would challenge us with a more difficult workout, I took it. When a tub of fried chicken was rubbed in my face (thanks honey), I turned my nose to my own baked chicken breast. I'll be honest: I really missed food. So much to the point that nightly I was dreaming about it. But I could feel the changes in my digestive health get better as I went on. No more chronic stomach aches, no more random energy drops. I was even able to start eating eggs regularly where before I assumed I had an allergy to them because of how bad they would hurt my stomach. Eventually, the desire for greasy food stopped. I still had certain cravings, but the attachment I had to takeout was completely gone by the end of the challenge. Trying to track progress during the middle of the challenge is tricky - especially if you're a person who obsessively looks in the mirror everyday scanning for changes like me. One day I could feel super confident after looking at myself, but it could be hours later that I'd start feeling bad because my self-image fluctuates. I struggle with OCD and this is one of the ways it affects me. One of the ways I cope with this is by reminding myself that the body changes throughout the day due to many factors. And even while I did this, I found that I had to reassure myself less often. I found that the same shirts I wore everyday didn't cause me to question myself anymore. My pants became too big, so I had to switch over to pants I always cringed at before putting on because it would always be a tight fit - but not anymore. I even needed a belt. So even when my mental illness blinded me to my progress, these little factors constantly showed me that I was making progress and subconsciously boosted my confidence. The workouts themselves were rough but extremely gratifying. I had already had experience with the ILKB workouts before so I knew what I was getting into, including the feeling of success! Each workout challenges you, no matter how long you've been doing it. The instructors were amazing and uniquely brought things to their classes. While I didn't get to workout with all of them, here's what I found. Coach Michael's classes were overall well-rounded. Generally he did a lot of arm days, which I really appreciated since that's my favorite area to workout next to abs, and many of the other coaches focused on other muscle groups. His instruction style was comfortable and he'd occasionally motivate the class by torturing himself with burpees if we managed to knock over the bags. Coach Heidi was super fun and energetic! She always brought an energy into the room that would both cheer you up and tell you "You can do this!". The way she giggled throughout class made it impossible to feel hopeless or discouraged. People say that laughing is contagious, and Heidi is a great example of such. Coach Karla had an energy to her too! Only hers was intense and it was obvious to me from my first class that she would challenge us. She did almost the entire workout with us, which was impressive considering she usually had two classes in a row. You could tell that she knew what she was doing, (especially if you saw her taking the class instead of instructing!). Coach Rachel's workouts were uniquely challenging. With an emphasis on cardio, but still hitting almost every other muscle group, I was exhausted every time. She also would chat with the class more actively and just be real with us which was nice. You always knew what was going on in her life, which even though I was usually too out of breath to respond, it felt like chatting with a close friend. Coach Angel was really good at motivating us and emphasizing form. When she instructed, I felt like my hits and moves would be better at the end because some of the ways that she explained things brought my form to my attention in a way that others wouldn't. She also added an aspect to the class that was more interactive by having us run around the mat as opposed to running in place. Coach Alexcia was another cardio-focused person from my experience with her. Like Michael, I felt her classes were very well rounded and her teaching style was comfortable, giving us many opportunities to challenge ourselves without pressure. This is always nice, especially if you're new. It can feel overwhelming to see just how much energy all of the other long term students are putting into it. It's good to be reminded to workout at your own pace. At the end I lost about 13 lbs, 7.5% body fat, and gained 4% muscle mass.

I started training here in February, coming off a year hiatus from muay thai due to an ACL tear. Before I even started my first class, I immediatley felt welcomed. Kru (Coach) Brian introduced himself right away and got to know me and my skill level. In the almost seven years since I started training, I have never had a muay thai coach deliver instruction with such detail, but in a way that is understandable to all levels of students present in the class. Brian is extremely perceptive at observing movement and identifying exactly what needs to be adjusted to help everyone perfect the technique we are working on, and he is really good at explaining things in multiple ways. He is a really great teacher, as well as an awesome fighter too! The classes are structured in a way where we build upon techniques over the week (or longer term), which is great for developing your skillset, and also wonderful for refining your technique if you've been in the game for a while. Along with great instruction, the gym is very much absent of any "ego"...but don't assume this means the other students aren't serious about the sport. There is a group of badass fighters that train here, and they are happy to train with others at all levels. Everyone is genuinely friendly, which gives the gym a great vibe and makes me look forward to heading to the gym as often as possible. Final, but important notes: all equipment in the gym is in great condition and the gym is very clean. They also recently started a strength and conditioning program. These have been awesome workouts thus far! If you're looking for a place to train muay thai and/or get in shape, whether you are new to the sport or an experienced pro, you need to check out Prime.

Well you're in luck because you found a great spot to fulfill both of these desires. Impact Martial Arts is a very well rounded program. My son is in the Tigers 3-6 year old class The class starts with a warm-up and talk about the word of the day (whether it's discipline, respect ,etc.) Then they work on form and technique and work on different types of strikes with their hands and feet. Then the last half of class they focus on weapon training. They typically have two 30 minutes classes per week. They offer classes every day including Saturday. Our son has been doing it for 3 months now and loves it. It's really helped hmm him with his confidence and learning to speak up and speak louder. So far I'm very happy with this place. We are glad we chose Taekwondo because it incorporates hand strikes , kicking and weapons and seems well rounded. It definitely keeps his interest and attention and that's what we were looking for. I like the lessons being taught, especially about finding good friends. My daughter had so much fun, especially kicking the board and mom using the pool noodle to test out her defense training. If we were local to Poway and the San Diego area still, I'd definitely look into signing my daughter up for some classes.

The Matriarch, Mr. B who is retiring after more than 38 years, is leaving the school to his children, Mr. Jordan, and Mrs. Jess who have learned these arts since they could walk. Both believe in a friendly, happy environment to learn in, while at the same time ensuring their decades of training are passed onto you so you may, lose weight, become more confident, and defend yourself, or others in any situation. I am 55 years old. I last learned some form of Martial Arts when I was 30 but the school I went to had to close down. I looked for other schools but finding a good teacher is harder than you think. I got away from studying for the next couple decades. I have returned starting anew with Kenpo, and I am happy that these are the people teaching. You may stop in, watch, and even try a class or two to see for yourself. You will discover other black belts such as Mr. Gabe who has been studying here since he was 5, will bring the same joy, and dedication to the art when they teach as well.
