Okay.... so I read a few of the reviews and I'll be completely transparent: the 6 week challenge requires a $500 accountability deposit; there's no switch and bait, this was understood right from the beginning (at least in my experience). They do recommend supplements, which by the time I joined, were optional, and I opted to purchase only one. Yes this requires 100% dedication and preparation so if you can't commit 100% then maybe this challenge isn't for you. I lost 7.1% BF, gained 3.3% muscle, and lost 14.9 lbs with only one supplement and while going to work, so this is possible! (Meal prepping will be your best friend!) Im not going to sugar coat it, it's challenging (that's why it's a *challenge*) and sometimes a bit frustrating but if you have the right mind set and you go all in, there's no reason why you shouldn't complete the challenge successfully and get your accountability money back! (This is why it can be free, and it was for me) A few more details.... At my 3 week weigh in I had only lost 2.5% bf and even though I was told that I probably wouldn't make it and that i could turn my deposit into a gym membership (again, an option explained right from the beginning, nothing new), I chose to keep rolling the dice and came out strong! Of course I had to amp it up... in the end it's about how bad you want it. It's been 3 months since I signed up for I Love Kickboxing classes, it I have seen a huge improvement in my overall health and I feel more confident about myself. How it started and how it's going! I just finished the 6 week challenge and I lost 6.3% body fat and gained 3.2% muscle which means it was all for FREE!! First off, I love kickboxing with this group. Everyone is so nice and supportive. The food plan was pretty easy to stick to and going to class every week definitely keeps you motivated. I did not see much of a difference the first few weeks, but I know I felt better. I just completed a 6 week challenge at I Love Kickboxing and I loved it! The workout were fun and challenging and I pushed myself harder than I would have on my own. All of the coaches were awesome and different each adding their own style to the class. My body made such a big transformation and gave me the confidence to continue my fitness goals. I did a 21 day challenge and it was really great. I liked the app - super easy to use - and my coach Rachel was fabulous. She adjusted my exercise plan to accommodate some physical limitations, and the food plan in phase 1 is pretty easy to follow. Phase 2 gets more rigorous and I'm excited to start it, but in a fairly easy 3 weeks I lost 3 lbs and I could see the change in my progress pictures. I took their advice and started on some supplements that I feel like are also making a difference. Great folks and great program. I highly recommend it! read more

If you are not already familiar with good kickboxing body mechanics, I do not recommend you take this class. Yes the instructors are very friendly, pumped and encouraging, but honestly the way the class is structured and the intensity level can easily lead to injuries. I've been doing this style of cardio kickboxing for 4 years now, even at a UFC gym, and I've never seen anyone get hurt. My first class here, a gal broke her toe, and I gotta say I was not surprised. I found the workout to be poorly balanced, both in terms of the moves and the workout versus recovery time. There were a ton of one-sided (i.e. - mainly right lead) moves; I was really surprised when we did a bunch of sets of moves in right lead, and then didn't balance it out by doing left lead. Yes, when you're a competitive kickboxer, you focus on your dominant side. But this is a workout class, aimed at all levels, and there were a lot of beginners in my class. There was also almost no time to take a quick break, reset, get a drink of water. This leads to injuries, overexertion, exhaustion and sloppy technique, especially for new learners and people not used to this kind of workout intensity. My other main concern is there was little to no focus on proper body mechanics, technique, and general safety. A major red flag was when I was told "no need to wrap". The bags are heavy standup style with almost no give, hell yes you need to wrap! The wraps they sell are absolute garbage quality and are too short to properly brace and wrap knuckles and your thumb joint, which is really important. The class is done barefoot, which is fine, when the attendees are well-versed in the moves. I was very surprised at how many roundhouses were incorporated into the workout. Don't get me wrong, I love roundhouses, but it is not a beginner move. I'm pretty sure this is how that gal broke her toe, but you can also twist your ankles, hurt your hips, all kinds of things. It takes strength, balance, but most importantly proper body mechanics. Yes there's an extra instructor or two on the floor to help out, but these classes are big, fast-paced, and the visibility of the main instructor is poor...it's simply not appropriate to throw everyone in the same class. They should really have classes geared to different skills or experience levels. I really wanted to bring my friend to this class to introduce her to a workout I love, but after I attended, no way. In my opinion, anyone who has never done kickboxing before should not take these classes. Learn the moves first, learn them properly (not fast and sloppily), then consider it. And for the love of god get decent wraps and learn how to wrap appropriately! read more

After two kids and the pandemic, I was looking for something to get back in shape. Up popped the ILKB add on Facebook and I knew it was exactly what I needed. After meeting with Summer, I decided to go the membership route which included the 6 week challenge. I've never had issues with being consistent with going to workout classes (once started), but always had issues with the nutrition part, often grabbing whatever was easiest when I was hungry. I wanted long term consistency with maybe a boost from the meal plan included with 6 week challenge. My goal was 6% body fat loss. Although I didn't reach my goal (because I didn't follow meal plan to the T) I am grateful to have joined the studio and plan to continue towards that goal. I enjoy the 3 days a week workouts and they definitely have become my stress relief. All the women and men taking the classes are inspiring, and badasses. Overall, I lost 8.6 lbs, 2.3% body fat, and gained 0.8% muscle. I know I need to add more weight training into my schedule so I can build more muscle to help burn the fat. I learned doing some simple prep for meals can help make healthier choices and avoid the binge snacking late night because I didn't eat enough throughout the day. The coaches were all very supportive and had great energy during classes. I didn't take all the supplements recommended since my doctor advised against it with my youngest still being BF, but I may add a few in once I'm done. Finally, drinking enough water and getting enough sleep to let your body recover are the next things on my list to get 'under control'. I don't recall and it said that they were looking for people to do a free program which they usually charge $800 for approximately. I went there for a consultation and it seemed really exciting but then they threw in the part about paying that we had to pay so much like $50 a week or 400 and something I don't know just some crazy outrageous amounts when they advertised it was free and I just think that's a bunch of false advertisement and I just wanted everyone to know that they do that. read more

Alright, I'm going to be honest. I have had a long-standing membership to LA Fitness, and I've tried dozen of approaches. I've designed my own workouts with P90X or other YouTube personal fitness coach. I've taken every class known from boot camp to spin and yoga. You'll see dozens of reviews that kick boxing is the best workout ever...and they're right. They focus on your STRENGTH...its not just about losing weight. Beyond that, they take personal interest in their members. I was out of town for two weeks and coupled with a work schedule that kept me away for almost three weeks. This morning, they sent me an email asking where I was. What gym notices when you're absent? I have joined ILKB and I don't regret a penny. I find myself eager for the next class if I miss. You don't have to be crazy in shape to start...everyone starts where they are and challenges their own personal best. My fiancé and I came in just before thanksgiving to get some info on the 6-week challenge. The terms and conditions on the challenge were clearly described to us. There was no surprises or secret gotchas.... you put the incentive money down and if you reach your goals, you get your deposit back. We are both +50 years old and nature has a way of slowing down the metabolism, and even knowing this we were invited to try one free intro workout to confirm we were interested. So after the intro we were totally wiped out but fully enjoyed the session so we signed up. So, I'm gonna be honest, the workouts are hard and at times the diet plan is harder. We stayed true to the plan and met several times with the coaches to keep current on our progress. After 42 days, I had dropped over 21lbs and 4% body fat. My fiancé lost over 12lbs and 3% body fat. So we did not succeed at the challenge..... but... The workouts are awesome and the coaches and other participants make for a great fun sweaty hour. We got in for a mid January special promotion where they applied our challenge deposit to a full years dues.... so we basically got 6-weeks of free workouts and got great start on diet plan weight loss life changes. if you're looking for a super effective workout/diet plan i would strongly suggest stopping by the Poway ILKB and chat with a coach. I finished the 6 week challenge down 7.1% body fat! I never thought a 2 AM Instagram scroll would lead to such a positive change in my body XD In all seriousness, this was an overall very good experience. My goals were to gain upper body strength, learn kickboxing basics, drop body fat, and fit into my favorite outfit and all of those goals were blown out of the water. Plus I got added benefits like learning that I really don't need to cook all of my food in fat to have fulfilling meals, losing weight made activities like rock climbing and yoga a lot easier, and learning that I love kickboxing (the company name is very true). I will say as a warning for those who want to give it a go, if eating out or going to breweries is a big part of your diet, then it will be tricky. Also, the halfway point is when you will feel your crummiest then afterward is smooth sailing. I joined the 6 week challenge ("6WC") at ILKB Poway. The instructors are awesome and will literally get your butt in shape. At the start I could not wrap my head around what I had just committed to. Little did I know that I would enjoy hitting the kickboxing gym not once, or even twice, but three times a week. The last 2 weeks of my challenge I attended 9 out of 14 days which says a lot. The energy in the gym is rewarding. I didn't meet my fat loss goal of 6%p, however, I lost 5.3% body fat, lost some pounds and GAINED muscle. I FEEL GOOD! THIS IS A WIN! Over the past couple of years, I have tried out many different studios and classes (barre, spin, pilates, etc.) This is the first place that I visited and immediately wanted to become a member. The facility is spacious and clean, the coaches are all friendly and make an effort to get to know you. Each class is different and exciting- warm up, stretch, 6 rounds of bag work, partner work, and another cool down/stretch. They constantly have different challenges, events, and giveaways to keep their members engaged and motivated. What to expect on your first visit: 1. Great workouts for those who don't like the same routine workouts! I joined the 6 week challenge like many others which did require the $499 deposit and to meet either goals of losing 5% body fat or 25lbs. I think the hardest part of the challenge was probably the diet plans because it really required a lifestyle change, and it really made me aware of what I was putting in my body. Their meal plan is very straightforward, but you really do want to workout everyday regardless of the minimum 3 times a week class workout to meet the challenge. I focused on cardio and going to the classes which are super fun! You do it at your own pace but you get more out of it by challenging yourself. It was awesome to see myself being able to slowly follow the class at a better pace and I definitely felt myself having more energy throughout the day as well. They vary the warm up circuits and boxing rounds which make each class different! It's definitely important to try to book the class ahead of time since they do book up quite quickly! I was able to ultately lose 27lbs and 5.1% body fat after the challenge! Highly recommended for anyone wanting to change your lifestyle! read more

This is a review for the 6 week challenge at this location. My interactions with my first coach left me feeling put off, she said some rude things and seemed impatient but I needed a program and went ahead anyway. I ended up with a different coach, though no one informed me of the change, but I rolled with it. I don't believe I had great one on one coaching for my first class, but a shout out to Jonas, for always giving 100% of his energy to us and providing a strong, supportive workout. Angel is kind and most patient. I was disappointed in that I lost 2 pant sizes and 2 shirt/dress sizes, but still didn't measure at losing the 6% body fat at the end of the challenge, and am still not certain that this makes sense. That being said, I was true to the nutrition plan and exercise routine, which in 6 weeks, really does develop great habits that have changed me for the better, for life, and I love my new size 10 vs. size 14, just in time for my 45th bday. I also came to love kickboxing and will maybe try it again sometime in the future:-). The program really did teach me what it takes in terms of food choices to lose the fat and keep it off and cardio kickboxing made my body stronger, which what was important to me. I do want to mention that I think the classes aren't great for beginners/ out of shape people, I did end up having a hurt hip and bicep\tricep at about week 4, that lasted for a couple of weeks. read more

A monthly membership is $165 for unlimited classes.. so you could get 8 weeks for less than $499. We figured there would be an incentive, but we anticipated nothing to do with money because of the advertisement. Such a waste of time to have made an appointment to discuss the "free" challenge.
