I've had the MOST TRAUMATIC and DAMAGING dental experience with Dr. Lisa Vallesteros. My teeth were FULLY ready for crowns, confirmed by 3 dentists before visit. The before 3D images from a previous dentist confirm the same. I believe my teeth were SEVERELY DAMAGED by Dr. Lisa WITHOUT ANY DISCUSSION or MY CONSENT to even alter them - let alone remove substantial chunks and altering the height. I believe every time Dr. Lisa said she needs to numb me to work on "gums" or "clean" she was ALSO REMOVING teeth structure. This review is what l believe to be true based on my experiences and opinion. The after images are ALARMING showing l've experienced SIGNIFICANT and PERMANENT DAMAGE also CONFIRMED by my current dentist. After a demand letter Dr. Lisa sent the AFTER 3D images. The "full medical records" received are MISSING the following even though requested: 1. Measurements of teeth removal 2. Copies of TWO BEFORE IMPRESSIONS she and Edna took for temporary crowns Dr. Lisa made which show my teeth BEFORE visit UPDATE: Look at screenshots. After speaking up publicly about my experience, including this review, l received an "oh no" reaction from someone named Diondre. The business lists "Lisa and Diondre J V." as owners. Although not making definitive claims, in my opinion, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that this was coincidental. Additionally, as a female patient, I believe it's important to mention that Dr. Lisa inquired about my marital status during an appointment and I informed her that I was single. Although not making definitive claims, l'm highlighting this from my perspective. I will let readers form their own conclusions. Due to the severity of my dental experience and the concerns this additional experience raised, I have filed a second complaint with the Dental Board addressing a separate set of concerns. Original Review Continued: My teeth now have LARGE HOLES with at least 1/4 of each tooth completely shaved DEEP DOWN INTO THE BASE with substantialCHUNKS removed and height dramatically altered. I truly believe that a dentist causing harm like this is EXTREMELY concerning. I have filed a complaint with the Dental Board. It makes me wonder how often patients do not realize similar damage has occurred, since teeth are HIDDEN UNDER CROWNS. I only found out this week, because I asked questions about why the temporary crowns no longer showed space between my teeth days after leaving her office and why the threader no longer went through easily. I also reported sharp pain and have developed other symptoms. I provided x-rays before visit and FULL dental history at first appointment. I explained that my teeth were FULLY READY for crowns. I believed we had a mutual AGREEMENT. She only mentioned needing to "push back gums" due to "overgrowth" and to "clean". She NEVER mentioned that she would shave, drill or alter my teeth. I would NOT have agreed. I experienced temporaries SHE MADE started to sink into my gums after the last visit. I believe she first attempted to GASLIGHT me with misleading explanations and when I called her on it she said she didn't know. I believe so much teeth structure was removed that temporaries no longer have the same support. From the first appointment to the last phone conversation, I experienced her behavior as GROOMING me not to ask questions. She even snapped when I first found out she had shaved my teeth as l asked a necessary question as l became very concerned. The after images show that my teeth were made also UNEVEN in height, particularly one tooth that she saio the crown would only be adjusted. I believe she drilled my teeth even further TO FIT THE FAULTY CROWNS. I underwent TWO gum margin procedures. I was surprised to see objects underneath my gums without prior discussion as "gum margins" was not discussed until the middle of the first procedure. Also, no other dentist noted "gum growth". One tooth had a black spot that was not covered by the crown she ordered and she said she needed to work on the "gum margins" AGAIN. During first appointment, I mentioned for crowns to not be too short and match the other side. She even said how that's obvious. Yet instead of acknowledging the crowns she ordered were too short and did not match the other side - I believe she IMMEDIATELY started GASLIGHTING me, saying it was about "functionality" and "the bite". I had to remind her of our original discussion for her to acknowledge it. The crowns would not even fit next to each other. One was also BULKY and CROOKED, yet she initially said, "I don't see it" before eventually agreeing to fix it. After l initially wrote a 1 star review and deleted it - she asked what my blogs are about and IMMEDIATELY shoved something in my mouth which I experienced as preventing me from answering. I believe this was HIGHLY passive aggressive - especially DURING dental work. I experienced Dr. Lisa Vallesteros' dental work as UNSAFE, CARELESS, DAMAGING, RECKLESS and NEGLIGENT. read more

I think I may have tried more dentists in LA than I've had cavities. And now after twice seeing Dr. Lisa, I know I at least don't ever need to look for another dentist. (But whether I have more cavities or not, well...that is up to me and how much I brush and floss!) After having a family friend as my dentist for decades, I could never find one I was satisfied with... Whether feeling they were trying to rip me off for "cavities" I didn't have, or trying to upsell me on cosmetic procedures I didn't need, or having a rude front office staff who couldn't process insurance properly, or lied to me that they were "in network" when they really weren't...and oh yeah, there was the one guy who took TWO HOURS to pull a wisdom tooth of mine. So I searched high and low for a good dentist ANYWHERE in LA...only to discover that the best one I could hope to find was literally within walking distance of me! Don't let the name of the business throw you as it did to me the first time I saw it driving past -- this is a "regular" dental practice; the "photo" aspect is merely that the doctor shares the space with her photographer husband. So there are TWO businesses under the one roof and they have nothing really to do with each other...unless of course you want to get some headshots once Dr. Lisa is through with you, showing off your pearly whites. And I put "regular" in quotes, because inferring that this practice is run-of-the-mill in any way is honestly not doing it justice. Not only is Dr. Lisa astoundingly personable and knowledgeable and honest and CARING...but also her top-notch technology is something I've never experienced before! On your first visit, she will do a 3D scan of your teeth -- it's essentially a CAD design of your actual MOUTH! You can see EVERYTHING from the inter-stitched pics, literally as if you were able to pry your mouth open and put your eyeball up to your teeth with a magnifying glass -- it's really cool! I went there knowing I had a chipped tooth, and also knowing that doing a more expensive crown would likely be what most dentists would "strongly recommend" -- I've had similar situations at least 3 other times in the past 10-15 years and each one of those dentists admonished me for wanting to do a filling instead of a crown. And guess what -- all the fillings are still intact. So I was hoping that Dr. Lisa wasn't going to fall into that same trap of trying to needlessly upsell me to pay for all her fancy equipment...and she did not! She very appropriately mentioned that, medically, it would be more sound to do a crown because it is stronger. But then there were no ifs, ands or buts about it when I asked if it was nonetheless possible to do a filling -- there was no trying to fear-monger that there's no way it will work and I'd just be wasting my time and money, no trying to guilt me for "not listening" to make me feel I was making the wrong decision for wanting to try a filling first -- Dr. Lisa was 100% supportive of my decision for my own body and my own comfort level, despite the fact that she was only going to make a few hundred dollars on the job rather than a couple thousand. And THAT is the sign of an excellent doctor -- someone who cares about YOU, both physically and mentally, more than their own wallet. I'm thrilled to have finally found my forever dentist -- and I am confident that if you give Dr. Lisa a try that you will feel the same way too! read more
