Survived my first mammogram and it wasn't even that bad! Let's be real though I walked into this appointment expecting a medieval torture device, but I left thinking, uhhh that was... surprisingly fine? Scheduling was a breeze through their patient portal, and I loved the reminder texts and emails (because let's be honest, I probably would've forgotten otherwise). Plenty of parking on a Monday afternoon, which meant one less thing to stress about. The lobby is located on the first floor near the entrance so that was a breeze! It was spacious, not too crowded, and I was quickly greeted by the receptionist. So far so good! They had check-in kiosks as well if you didn't do it through your phone. Wait time was precise. The actual exam? Quick, efficient, and not nearly as traumatic as my overactive imagination led me to believe. My tech was super professional and made me feel comfortable, despite the whole pancake situation. LOL! I asked her if it would be painful, but she reassured me it wouldn't be that bad and just a bit of pressure. The whole thing took maybe 20 minutes while she took 4 X-rays (2 per boob)! I was in and out! Can't complain about that. One important reminder: show up 15 minutes earlier than your scheduled appt to check in and answer questions online. A poor lady came in 20 minutes late and had to reschedule. I even offered to swap, but apparently, mammogram appointments aren't like concert tickets. The rules are the rules! Results are mailed to you and also available on their patient portal. Overall, 4 stars would recommend! See you in a year! read more

Excellent Imaging Center for the Elderly. My mother had her brain to identify Amyloid Plaques related to her new diagnosis of Alzheimer's dementia disease. The entire experience was seamless. The Imaging Healthcare Specialist treats the patient and family like a true customer that "THEY" want and take on a great portion of the coordination once the referral is sent to the patient. It helped me "the Caregiver" and daughter to not procrastinate, and get it done. I certainly hope other referral situations begin this approach to patient focused care. The Encinitas location is great for me but that's about the only positive so far. I tried to book an X-ray for a broken bone online per their call tree but they are over 2 weeks out for a broken bone. That's not ok. Now on the phone waiting for a human to see if they take walk-ins and how long that wait might be. Still just a recording telling me someone will be w me momentarily. I have been on for 19 min already. That is pretty horrible customer service in my book so cannot recommend. UPDATE They finally answered but certainly not a friendly helpful staff. They must be overworked and over dealing w patients. They did end up getting me in sooner but not sure why they make it so difficult to get in for a potential broken bone. read more

I saw the dr today for severe cough and trouble breathing, he sent in a referral for a chest X-ray but none of the locations near me have any availability for 10 days. If the demand is this great why don't they expand. I really hope it's not something more serious because 10 days is not acceptable! And you are required to register online in the parking lot before you can go in (well, you are supposed to do that, lol). I understand that the system is automated, but somebody is in charge of this! I went today for a sestamibi scan and my tech was friendly and did a good job. The lobby was packed, so they do a lot of business, obviously. The seating was comfortable and everything was clean. No issues with that. Would I go back? Probably, unless I could find a nearer location. The drive up and down the coast was not too bad, but timing is everything to avoid the big snarl. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had a bone scan appointment scheduled with this imaging center, which was supposed to be July 11. I live over an hour away in San Diego (about 45 miles), and made the trip expecting to finally get the scan I urgently needed. When I arrived, I was shocked and devastated to be told on the spot that the MRI machine was down. Then had the nerve to tell me their going to have to schedule me on the 30th, a significant delay given my ongoing health issues They made absolutely no effort to call me ahead of time, despite knowing I was traveling a long distance in pain. To make matters worse, the staff showed zero sympathy or willingness to help. They offered no alternatives or sooner appointments, despite this being entirely their fault. I was clearly distressed, even crying at the facility, and no one seemed to care. I've been battling this illness for 3 months, and this scan was critical. Because of their negligence, my condition worsened and I had no choice but to go to the ER on July 20, where I finally got the imaging I needed. This experience was not just frustrating -- it was emotionally and physically draining. I do not recommend this facility to anyone who values their health or time. Completely unacceptable and incredibly disappointing. read more

They do a decent job, the lack of a star is for their scheduling. Waiting 6+ months for an appointment for a mammogram is unacceptable for someone who has a history of breast cancer. I don't know why this changed but they're "so booked up" that my OB said she no longer is ordering out of IHS due to this. So she said, "If they're too busy to take patients, l will help alleviate the load and send patients to Scripps". I appreciate that because I cannot afford to wait 6+ mos for a mammogram. Also, they're booked solidly for 6 mos so you cannot even make an appointment for after 6 mos because their system won't allow them to make appointments that far out. The only way to get an appointment is to wait for cancelations on their website and stalk it daily. I still don't feel that would be a great plan, as there probably aren't many cancelations. They are pretty cheap as far as pricing goes. I didn't have to pay out of pocket for the mammogram. I might have to since switching to Scripps. read more

I have both good and bad experiences with Imaging healthcare. I love the convenient location within the 477 medical campus. If a physician orders imaging I can walk in. The facility is clean and the staff are very friendly. Why did I take away two stars from them? It is a syndicate and the people on top are completely out of touch with their customers. Yes, I used the word customers intentionally instead of the word patients. The business is run without regard to the patient experience. People coming in for imaging span the gamut, some are in for routine testing and others are in acute pain. In my case it was the later. I arrived to get an xray on my injured toe because they do not make appointments. This means I have to take time off of work and drive using that injured foot, then walk up, wait in line and speak to the staff. I was offered the opportunity to wait in line for an unknown amount of time or to return with an appointment. If they offer appointment times then WHY would they make me waste 45 minutes of my time to make this appointment on site? This ludicrous policy wastes time, gas, and jeopardizes my personal wellness by putting stress on an injury. This harmful policy is incomprehensible to me. I arrived on time, but my appointment was not honored and I had to wait anyways. I brought it up with a very friendly technician who brought me the man in charge to share my concerns with. He was legitimately sympathetic and told me that this issue comes up EVERY SINGLE DAY on the meetings they have. He agreed with every word out of my mouth, but still was unable to do the right thing. Unfortunately they did discover that my toe was broken, but I needed another test done. I returned on a Monday, once again driving and walking on my broken toe and once again they could not get me in as all of the spots for the whole day were filled. The people running this syndicate are monsters who would rather incrementally increase their bottom line by harming their customers and creating unnecessary car trips resulting in pollution and traffic than treating their customers like dignified human beings. If the sweet man did not empathize with my situation you can bet that this would be a one star review. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I had a 4:10 appointment, but could tell I was going to be 15-20 minutes late due to an accident on the highway. I called at 3:25 and they said "no problem" just come on in and we will see you. I got there at 4:25 and the kiosk didn't work, so I wait another 10 minutes in line only to be told my appointment was cancelled because I was more than 10 minutes late and they couldn't see me. Go to any IHS except this one. I made the horrible mistake of making an appointment after the phone lines closed, after 6pm. So when my partner had an at work emergency and I needed to see if I could get in earlier, low and behold no one picks up the phone. So well, let's just go and see if they can get me in early. Seems plausible as when I walk in, no one is waiting and the clerk is literally outside on his phone. I check in, tell him I'm early. Can I get in early. He doesn't even respond. Nothing. Mm ok Another couple walks in, they didn't have an appointment - they go right in. A female walks in. Same reception I got check in at the kiosk no human connections If he had told me, there is a snowballs chance in hell of you getting in early, I would have left and come back. But. He never said that. And now... it's after my appointment time. The no appointment haters have come and gone. The lobby of ihs is unseasonably freezing and the tv is on considerably way to loud, enough to induce headaches. I have had very positive experiences at other IHS offices. Just. Not. This. I have had consistently poor experiences at this location now across several different areas and now felt compelled to post a review. Every time I have called in my experience dealing with their receptionists leaves me scratching my head. Their online scheduling system seems to rarely work properly and the receptionist that answered the phone could only suggest that I speak with their IT department about it. First, I had an MRI and the radiology tech was downright rude to me, and for absolutely no reason. I had arrived early for my appointment but despite that he was snappy and literally threw me into the MRI machine so fast with zero explanation of whar to expect or context. Just blurted out press the button if you absolutely have to but we will have to start all over. I swear I almost had a panic attack which I am not prone too. Next visit, I had an unrelated carotid ultrasound. My vascular surgeon who read the results then informed me that it is a known issue that this imaging center has subpar ultrasound techs and that the results from them cannot be relied on. That is frankly, unacceptable. Now, I arrived 1 minute late for my mammogram appointment. I stood in line to ask a question and to check in (rather than to proceed to the kiosk for the check in). I stood in line for 10 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge me. I was then informed that I lost my appointment slot because I failed to check in. The stars aligned and a 'let me walk in just to schedule' turned into a 'we have an opening in 45 minutes. Let's get your son checked in'. The entire staff was friendly, especially Rachel who had one of my kiddos sit opposite her desk while I went into the u/s with my other kiddo. The u/s tech was super friendly and efficient. They have a fast turn around time. Images sent to the radiologist for further eval, report sent to the requesting practitioner, and I had results that evening. This one was easy was in on Saturday morning. Took 6 weeks to get this appointment. They make you show up 30 min before your appointment. My guess is they want you waiting as long as possible. You get a text message saying they will be with you but if they don't to come in 10 min after your appointment time. So having waited for 45 min I come in and stand in the designated line. The person behind the counter. Sees me standing there for 10 min. Now mind you I am there for a knee injury and standing is both painful and uncomfortable. The lady behind the counter continues to make sure she makes no eye contact with me, but when she finally does I can tell my being here is a major annoyance in her life. I look around the room and it's almost empty, what could I have done wrong?? I literally only came in and stood in line, I'm HURT and I'm here to get help. Yup wrong place if you are looking for anyone to actually care for anyone in that category. Care that your sick, care that your hurt, care that your injured. Now this was just my experience today. I've had several mammograms throughout my lifetime, it's not something that any of us look forward to, but today was the most horrifying experience that I have ever encountered. This was not my first mammogram at the Encinitas location, all the technicians have been professional, kind, and communicated wonderfully. To my Mammo tech today: Unfortunately, having a disability limits a person's range of motion. I do not have the ability to bend and lift as you expected me to, I can not move as quickly as you would like. Getting frustrated because I cannot hoist myself up out of my wheelchair towards the machine did not help the situation. Instead of grabbing and pulling, and acting it's a huge ordeal for you to have to move your body around my wheelchair, you could have asked me if I could bring my body closer to the machine and given me time to do so,(verbalized and requested without sighing). Instead you were rude and hurt me. You need to have more patience with people instead of acting like you did. I found your actions completely unprofessional and unacceptable, especially for a person in your profession. I'm not sure if you were having a bad day, or you just did not like having to deal with a disabled person? If you do not like your job, maybe you should go into a different field of diagnostics? The wait time is way different then the Oceanside location. I been waiting for over 30 mins. They have more staff then the Oceanside location but service is way slower. the facility is cluttered and there was obvious ventilation issues or repairs in progress with air vents blocking pathways. staff are mostly pleasant but not timely for appointments, 30 minutes late. while waiting I observed a client asking a supervisor about radiation exposure for their exam and the response was very condescending and never provided the requested information which actually is your job to do.. the lack of critical thinking and respect for the client was evident. just another factory assembly line mentality facility.sad. read more

IHS required me to pay their estimate of my insurance co-pay before I had the procedure. Foolish me, I gave them $471.75 on 8/14/2023. On 9/21/2023 my insurance carrier Cigna, with whom IHS has a contract, informed them my co-pay was $69.56. I've been trying to get the difference back, $402.19. ever since. IHS disputed Cigna's calculations and asked for the insurance carrier to process the claim a second time. They did. I received my copy of the the reprocessed claim stated that IHS has been overpaid and the original co-pay of $69.56 was correct. I called IHS, again, and was told that they have no record of the reprocessed claim being received by them. I am now wondering how long IHS can string this out. I believe the medical treatment I received was professional and first class. Their Administrative protocols area different matter. Good luck if you pay a co-pay based on their estimate. read more

OMG. At least a 15 minute wait on hold to schedule an MRI, and that's after pressing the correct number to schedule an MRI, or a mammogram, or a CT scan, or an ultrasound, ad nausea. Really? Scheduling each procedure requires specific training? I tried twice to schedule on their website, which they want you to do so you don't have to talk to anyone. Nope. That didn't work either. Get this! Women! Wear a sports bra and lose fitting pants to your procedure. Then they don't have to furnish you with clothes to wear! Zero laundry bill for them. The last straw was they want you to check in FROM YOUR PHONE WHEN YOU'RE STILL IN YOUR CAR IN THE PARKING LOT! ‍ they get paid by your insurance company for doing the absolute least they can do. Came here for a thyroid biopsy today. Nice waiting room, plenty big. Many people here for all kinds of diagnostic tests. Got checked in....easy enough. Did my new patient paperwork not too bad. Waited for my appt time and was called on time....I like that! The sonogram tech Susie was so nice and actually had a personality. We joked and laughed and that made it better for me. The Radiologist Dr Lisserbaum was pretty cool explained everything to me that was going on and what they were going to do. Very professional and was as painless as he could be. The facility was super clean, nicely decorated and well lighted. Big parking lot was very large with lots of spaces no issues there. Highly recommend this office. You don't usually get to pick your sonogram/ultrasound tech or Radiologist. But if you ask ahead you may be able. read more

I had a great experience here. I had to get an ultrasound for abdominal discomfort. I was nervous and scared heading in. But the staff here is top notch. The check-in process is safe and easy. I got to do it from the comfort of my car. My ultrasound tech was Karissa (probably spelled it wrong). She was awesome and fun to talk to. She explained everything to me and made me feel at ease. She was very gentle and considerate, a huge plus considering the discomfort I'm in. She is a true credit to the medical profession. Highly recommend IHS. read more

I went for lumbar X-rays, and although everything went 'well' and the visit was shorter than usual at Kaiser, the DIAGNOSTIC report was very weak, not thorough, and short. I have had imaging done at a handful of different business's and locations over the last few years and IHS has always been a step above the rest in every way. BUT yesterday at the Encinitas location was WOW!! I took the appointment with them because it was the 1st available when I was making the appointment. It was at 7AM (6:30AM arrival time) and I drove from Lakeside. Long drive. But it was worth it. Technician was the best I have ever had. He was calm, and showed true kindness the whole time. He did not act like he was just doing his job, he behaved in a manner like he was there to take care of me. The atmosphere was so calm which I really appreciated. read more
