They ask you to send orders but FAIL to tell you they only want electronic or typed imaging orders. They wait until your patient arrives then tell them they can't scan them because the orders were hand-written (which is typical). You write "STAT" on the order but that will be ignored. They apparently do things on their own time. When you call to urgently get the results (we are concerned our patient has a broken wrist) they are COMPLETELY UNREACHABLE ... hiding behind a poorly configured AI phone answering system that has no way to understand you need STAT results. The managerial incompetence of this imaging center is staggering. This is just from a medical provider's perspective. Our patient already had to experience a 1-hour wait in getting a simple wrist x-ray because of their stupidity. It is 24 hours later and they have failed to send results and I have been on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes trying to get this. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! Epic Failure! FINALLY ... after almost 2 hours on hold and people at this facility not picking up calls (yes, I am speaking to the people in your records dept) ... someone named Penny took charge and got in touch with someone named Amanda ... who has assured us that we will see the report within an hour. It turns out that, though they had us resend the orders, typed ... they totally IGNORED that it said "STAT" in big, bold letters, and had not bothered reading the images.

Today we had a very bad experience with SimonMed Imaging. We had two appointments scheduled at 9:00 AM, but we were never given the address. When they called to schedule the appointments, they said all the information would be sent by text message. However, the text only included the date and time -- no address. When we searched online, we found two SimonMed locations in Encinitas: one on N El Camino Real and another on Saxony Rd, which was very confusing. We tried calling the number that originally contacted us, but it was only an automated system directing us to the website. We decided to go to the N El Camino Real location first, but there was a sign on the door saying "No X-Ray Today." Because of that, we thought the location was closed, so we drove another 3 miles to the Saxony Rd location. By then, we were about 8 minutes late. The lady at the Saxony Rd office was very kind and helpful. After hearing our situation, she called the first location and told us they could still see us if we came back right away. However, when we returned to the first location, the man at check-in showed no understanding or apology. He told us they would only see one person and the second person would need to reschedule for another day. We are very busy, and this situation was not our fault. We wasted a lot of time and effort driving back and forth between two locations because of unclear communication from SimonMed. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, they acted like it was our problem. We decided to cancel both appointments. When we said we wanted to cancel, he even asked, "Are you sure?" I do blame my medical group as the incompetence I've experienced is quite unbelievable. I got word yesterday that my referral was finally received and I did not need an appointment. So I walked in this afternoon at 1:30. I had spoken to the woman at the desk over the phone and she was nothing but kind and positive. It was easy to check in and I waited about 30 minutes. There was only 2 others there. My name was called and I was brought back to an X-ray room. It was explained that 2 of the techs were students but there was a radiologist overseeing them. I didn't care I was happy to finally be getting this dealt with. It's been pretty painful. They positioned me for three different shots and I was done. I love efficiency. I left and a few hours later my results were posted on the portal. I just wish the explanation was in lay person terms. I looked it up and I think I understand but it not really clear. My shoulder hurts and I can't wait until it's explained to me with a solution!

The unhappy and unhelpful desk gal then may tell you that IF the tech who does the x-rays was coming in, they won't be coming in until 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. But they are not coming in today anyway so pffft. So, now, we've veered off the path and are headed over the cliff. Basically, the website is misleading. If your tech isn't coming in until later than 7:00 a.m., how about a little additional info on the website? And how is a patient supposed to know whether a tech will be at any particular location or not on any particular day? We just have to visit the location to find out? Umm, no. I STRONGLY urge you to make an appointment no matter what they say about no appointments necessary or what location you intend to visit. Given the (poor) service, I won't be visiting the Escondido location ever again, even though it's the most convenient one for me. In all fairness, the Oceanside location provided me with very good service.
