The beer choice is unique, the chickpea sticks are thebomb.com (with delectable side choices) and the Thai Me A River pizza is the best craft pizza I've ever had. This place has got everything going on. The staff create the warm, welcoming and unique vibe that make this place so special. I would recommend anyone to go and indulge in this incredible experience. Imbibe is hands down one of my favorite places in Chapel Hill. Their beer selection never fails to impress, with draught and bottled beer available. The food has always left me happily impressed and intrigued. Their Pangea Tacos are fantastic: curried chicken, cilantro, and cucumber is a very Mediterranean infused take on the taco. The only place to find nitro brewed coffee on Franklin and a tiramisu that will leave you happy and satisfied. Dirty fries are a must. We brought a big group of friends here again, and just like last time, we enjoyed great food and had so much fun! The big food hits were the chimichurri salad, the Camp Street combo (muffuletta and crab bisque) and OMG the Beyond Burger!!! I'm not a vegan but this burger is delicious no matter what your diet preferences are. My husband, sister, and I had decided to check this place out after reading an blurb about it just opening up a few weeks prior. We walked in and it wasn't immediately clear if we needed to wait to be seated or just seat ourselves. There were several tables seated, but still a few empty spots. It was busy-ish but didn't appear to be slammed. We eventually caught the eye of an employee who told us we could sit where ever we'd like. We finally had a waiter come over and take our drink order. They explain a few things about the place and about the menu. We ordered drinks and then ordered dinner. We were told about an item not on the menu called "Stupid Fries" that sounded good and like a heart attack waiting to happen. We ordered those and the rest of our meals. It took an eternity for our food to arrive. There were tables that sat behind us that ordered after we did and were half way through their meals by the time a morsel of food was placed on our table. In addition to the fries, we also got the chick pea sticks to start. The fries were good and artery clogging - no complaints other than I hated myself for eating so many. The chick pea fries felt tasteless to me. They weren't bad per se, just had no real taste. I had the pangea tacos with curried chicken. They were good. I liked them a lot and would eat them again. I couldn't finish them since I had previously stuffed myself with french fries. My sister and husband each ordered a pizza. They said they were good as well. Service was definitely slow and left something to be desired. I'm fairly certain my husband ordered a second drink when the appetizers were delivered and he didn't get it until after we finished our entrees. Overall, I would chalk up the slow service and hiccups to growing pains with a newer business. One tip they can put into action immediately is to check in with tables more frequently and let us know that our food will be out whenever just so we don't feel forgotten about...even if we have been. The food I ordered was tasty for the most part. I'd go back and give it a second shot at the very least and I think things will have smoothed out once they've got a little more time under their belt. read more

After reading an excellent review in the Indy, I had to try this place. My wife and I had a lovely dinner with exceptional service! I particularly liked the Soy Division pizza, it was very spicy and delicious! My wife had a large salad, which she enjoyed as well. According to the Indy review, the Chickpea Sticks are a must - so of course we had to try them. WOW! The food critic that wrote the article was absolutely correct, I can't stop thinking about them. The accompanying sauces were very good, a nice compliment. The night we went they had a beer tasting, which was kinda neat. I spoke with the owner and she told me that I should come back on a Monday night for their Monday night jazz. I will. OK, back to the beer... I like beer, the fact that I walked into a beer tasting thrilled me, but the nice selection of beers on tap were varied and well chosen. I don't know if there's a sommelier equivalent for beer, but if there is one, they have him (or her). The bartender was very helpful with my selection and took the time to explain a few brands I hadn't seen before. Of course if you can't find something you like on tap just turn around and go to the cooler, you're sure to find something there! I went home with a nice coconut beer :) The prices were quite reasonable, the service was superior and the food was unparalleled! Hat's off to this restaurant/bottle shop/bar/cool place! Definitely a 5 STAR, and the 100% health grade rating sealed it for me! read more

Great variety of selections with cider, mead, beer, wine. Pleasant but not interrupting staff/owner. We came tues at 5 before school was in session so it was slow but the staff was great and prompt with fantastic food! Have to say better than I thought it would be at this little hole in the wall. Hubby and I both got green salads & shared a crazy awesome pizza they have with peanut curry sauce & tofu - soy division. Not vegetarians but it was great! Chef hooked us up with a tiramisu which was perfect after the spicy pizza. Very reasonably priced food for the area. Will come back for sure. read more

Stopped by a Sat afternoon, not too busy, quick service, cold beer and awesome food! My group ordered Gris Gris Gumbo, New Orleans Muffaletta, Camp Street Combo and Peppa Pig Wings. In Imbibe, Mandey and Jedd have given Chapel Thrillians a fresh option for delicious, reasonably priced, food and drinks that Franklin Street desperately needed. The tap selection was fantastic, with unique offerings that I haven't seen at other bars that focus on beer. The service was friendly. We got dynamite and honest recommendations from the staff (the chickpea sticks and Simple Truth pizza with vodka sauce and purple asparagus... on point like a javelin). At the end of our meal, Jedd even poured us a taste of their cold brew coffee on nitro and that's already got me planning a mid-week return visit. Imbibe is the spot for an afternoon meeting, study break, happy hour, or date night. If this type of experience is what we got in their first month of operation, I cannot wait until they settle into a groove and focus their craft.
