Can I take a minute to give a big shout out to my dojo! I've been studying here at WestWind for the…read morepast 5.5 years now, and little did I know how much it would change my life. I came into contact with the studio at the What Women Want Expo in April of 2017, and Mr. Kaneshiro, our head master of all three schools (Midvale, Sandy, and Kearns) was giving out VIP cards and had the promo of try a free month of karate for Women's month when you buy a gi ($20). I thought I'd try it for just the month, and a month got me interested enough to try a year. I didn't think I'd stay past a year, but here I am 5.5 years later having grown mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually and still working towards my black belt. To say this dojo has been life changing is an understatement for me, as I am not the same person who started 5.5 years ago. I have gained so much more confidence in myself as a person, and have learned to let go of a lot of the unnecessary junk that weighs one down in the day to day. I've also learned curriculum, which is broken down in each rank, continue to work on katas, and have been creating my own techniques, as required in the higher ranks. WestWind also has an annual Challenge (inter-school tournament) that challenges one to step outside their comfort zone to try something new or overcome the fear or performing in front of others. Our school is broken down into Early & Basic Skills (ages 3-6 y/o) and Karate 7 y/o+. It's great getting to learn alongside children and adults. You learn a great deal of control in the process. WWKS also has weapons and other techniques seminars throughout the year to prepare for disarming and future technique creations (for higher ranks). I can't say enough good things about the teaching and senseis (instructors). They really take the time to help you understand your movements, and they care about you personally. They want to see you succeed and surpass them. It's a big family with everyone working together to reach their goals and learn in the process. Thank you, WestWind! No

They were quick to respond and made sure I had all the information I needed to make a decision. I'm beginning training here and looking forward to it.

On multiple occasions myself and my partner (both have memberships) arrived and was there and no class was being held at the time the specified or the instructor just wasn't present. Even brought a friend on another occasion assuming the last time was a random occurrence to get them to sign up and go to this gym together and again no beginner class was being held at the time or no instructor was present at this point I have been paying a membership and had nothing to show for it except them collecting payment from me. I submitted a cancellation request because I'm not going to just be paying for a service and not get any training and they responded with they have video footage there is no evidence to substantiate the claim, and kept charging me when I realized they were still pulling money I replied saying that they if they really did have camera footage then my claim would be valid. When I asked do you have camera footage showing me and my girlfriend there waiting in your lobby and on other dates and they responded saying I am in contract with them for a year. They had their paralegal respond pointing out how I must have misunderstood what I signed. They completely ignored and glossed over my claim about being there and not being taken care of, never said anything about us being on the video just ignored me and would rather throw the contact at me instead of just admit that they weren't there or instructing the class. I even asked directly did you even look at the camera footage or do you even have cameras? And they ignored my question completely just giving me random run arounds. They are bullies and a predatory business that doesnt really care about you.
