Does anyone know what happened to Imperial Auto Service in Chula Vista? They just up and moved left my sons Mercedes-Benz on their lot with no notice or anything. $1500 was given to them already and now they are gone without a trace!!! I'm so pissed off at Jr. I have been a customer for years (every since they've been on Imperial Ave) and for them to just up and leave is very disheartening. SHAME ON Jr.!!! read more

I took my 1989 Chevy Colorado for a blown head gasket. I paid almost $3000.00. They kept my car for several months. I finally drove to the 54 freeway no more than 3 miles away. As I got on the freeway the truck started knocking loud. I called the shop telling them it was knocking. As I was talking a loud bang and smoke was everywhere. I pulled over still talking to the older gentleman. Oil was everywhere. The block cracked. They came and got my truck and said it was not their fault. My truck had about 80,000 miles and never overheated. It ran great. Never did I have a problem with it. Repairs on the gasket took so long because the mechanic that was working on it had cancer. He left so several hands were in my truck. I went several times and different mechanics were working on it. They wanted 3 to $4000,00 more to replace the straight 5 engine block. I refused to pay. I called bureau of automotive repair. I had them investigate. Imperial auto agreed to replace the block at no cost to me I offered 1000,00 for their labor. Long story short the gave me excuse after excuse. They couldn't find one or they got one it was cracked. But if I gave them 3000.00 more they said they would fix it right away. Hmmm so you can't find one but if I pay you can. I delt with JR. I had no transportation. I had no choice but to buy a car. Again Bureau of auto went back. They said they would fix it. 2.5 years later I got fed up. I went to tell them I was going to pick it up and sew them, they were closed. The smog shop said they took everything out the night before. They closed shop. When I was going to have a tow pickup my truck it disappeared. It was no longer there. I reported it to the police. They told me it was not towed and it didn't cross the border. Apparently they know all vehicles if towed. They checked the borders also. The truck was missing a block, someone had to tow it. I think, not sure but I believe it was them. (JR) And company. It was reported stolen. They never informed me that my car was left in the parking lot. They never told me they closed down They never informed me to pick up my truck. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I lost my truck. I quit paying insurance because they had it over 2 years so I am S O L. Junior lied everytime I called he said it would be done in a week. Excuse after excuse. Awful service, dishonest. This family should never be allowed to work on cars again. I offered 1,000.00 the bureau of automotive repair told me they were going to repair at no cost. I'm extremely angry, dissatisfied and disappointed in this family and the company. Oh they charged me for dropping the oil pan a second time when they had to drop it for the gasket repair. The said they heard knocking so they needed to see what it was. They heard the knocking before I took it they said they couldn't find the problem. Well it knocked before it cracked my block. I saw a few cars in the lot when they shut down. Then there were none. Took my car to this place for one thing. They fixed it, but. one week later had to go back for some other problem that wasn't there before. I spent over a thousand dollars, and yet the engine light is still on. Now I am afraid to go back because they might fix what is now wrong, and brake something else. read more

Art and Sal make a great combo! Art is the manager and Sal is the owner. Their team of mechanic do an amazing job and saved me hundreds of dollars. I was referred to go to Pep Boys by another mechanic who didn't have the proper tools, but Pep Boys were charging me nearly $900 for coolant valves to be fixed. Luckily, I Yelped and found this company. I went on a Saturday afternoon and they were about to close, so we scheduled a Monday 9am. I checked my schedule and I had Legoland planned with my toddler, so I really needed them to do their job right and at a timely manner so that we can get to Legoland. Art to me to arrive at 9am, so I did. Waiting outside was a mechanic who immediately checked my trunk. Two minutes later Art walks in and everything goes smoothly. I think I may have found mechanics. I just moved here from Nevada and had an excellent mechanic over there. However, I always had a constant issue with my "check engine" light. They would fix it and a few months later it was there back again! The first time I brought my car to Imperial Auto Service, that "check engine" light was gone and I haven't seen it for more than a year!! A friend recommended I take my car to these guys to have a look at a loud constant squeaking noise I thought was a power steering problem or worse. It always helps to know someone or get a recommendation and after my experience at Imperial Auto I wanted to return the favor. They were professional from the start. They quickly diagnosed the noise as a bent tension pulley which turned out to be a very inexpensive fix and they were able to order the part same day and take care of it. My car's fixed, no more noise, and I was pleasantly surprised when I paid for the repair. It's a relief to have some honest 'go to' guys if I have troubles with one of our cars. I went here for engine swap on my truck. After the job was completed I had a small vibration in clutch pedal anytime the pedal was pressed. About 3 months later my clutch completely failed. I brought the truck back and we removed the transmission and the clutch. It turns out that when the engine install was done they lost one of the bolts for the pressure plate on the clutch and decided to install a wrong diameter, length,and thread pitch bolt, in the pressure plate. I asked the owner Sal for some kind of a refund he said he is broke and told me he is in the process of filing bankruptcy. I filed small claims and won by default since he did not show. He still will not pay me for the damages. If you don't believe me look up the better business bureau, they have a F rating currently. You may not want to go to this shop. read more

Consumer beware!!! My car wouldn't start and I had it towed to this location. I chose them because I live nearby and have seen this business there for a long time. I thought that if they have been in business for a while, they must be good, besides Yelp had good reviews on it. I am an old lady that doesn't know much about mechanics. So ladies beware. My car had an alternator problem. They gave me a quote of $860.00 for an alternator and they also told me I needed a new battery. ( The battery I had was less than 1 yr old) Now even though I don't know much about cars, its not the first time I have replaced an alternator on an old car and I knew it was too much money, besides me being retired and on a fixed income, I could not afford that. Also the battery was fairly new and I could go back to AAA and get a discount on a new one. So I refused their services, brought a tow truck to pick up my dead car and go someplace else. I also know they tried to pull a fast one on an old lady figuring I was an easy mark. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DEAL WITH THIS SHOP. read more

I have taken my dodge pick up truck to this shop multiple times. Every time I have had great service. If they find something else besides the job they are working on they will call and inform you and ask before working on it. They have always been honest with me. Much better prices then most other places out in town as well. Last time I brought my truck to them they messed up and I didn't notice it until I got home. I brought it back and they did the job over again right at no charge. Best shop in town in my opinion. read more

Wife and I had to pull over on the side of the freeway after coming back from Mexico and we went to the nearest repair shop we could find, which happened to be Imperial Ave Auto Service. The staff was absolutely incredible in their understanding of our situation and what needed to be done. There were other cars there but they all instantly got together to discuss how they could fix the car. One of the personnel even reached way back into a large bag to pull out a "model engine" with which used to show me what one of the pistons was doing inside the engine.
