Yesterday I was referred to Imperial Beach Optometry. I have been to many optometry offices in my life, but this place was the absolute best! The staff was fun to talk to, funny and very friendly! The doctor made me feel like he would bend over backwards for me! I needed glasses made same day, because I had a qualifying exam for my job today. They did it in 3 hours and today I passed my exam! Excellent service. Very thorough exam. It was super busy but they seemed to have a good system to make things run smoothly. Very large selection of glasses and designer frames. I can't say enough about this shop, but I will try my best. I had called them a week before to make an appointment for a contact lens and glasses check up. The scheduling process was extremely easy and I received a confirmation almost instantly. When I first arrived I was immediately greeted by friendly staff that asked for my information and quickly let the doctor know that I was there. I only waited a couple of minutes before Dr. Hanono came out to greet me and take me back to the examination area. They have the most state of the art equipment and were able to spot my astigmatism quickly and noticed that my previous prescription was incorrect. After my examination Dr. Hanono personally walked me through the different types of contact lens, explaining the pros and cons of each and allowed me to make an informed decision with his recommendations. The contacts have been nothing but amazing and I haven't had any eye strain since. The glasses that they gave me were spot on as well and I continue to use them without any issues. This has been one of the best optometry experiences I've ever had. They have made a customer for life. I won't go anywhere else! read more

My family has been coming here for a long time I still like the dr don't get me wrong but as far as service I was disappointed when picking up my sons glasses, no one asked to help adjust his glasses and I mean he's a 5 yr old boy... You walk into the office and you have no idea who to go to sometimes. read more

Took my kiddos to get their glasses here and they are happy. My little one is very nervous, but the employees made it fun for him. I have been going to Dr. Hanono for over 15 years, since I was a little girl and the office was in San Ysidro, he is the best! I love this guy! He's very friendly, and makes recommendations based on your exam results and makes sure that you understand what is going on with your eyeballs. : ) They have state-of-the-art equipment, and usually the wait/exam will take about 30-60 minutes total. He never tries to rush you or up-sell products. The staff is wonderful as well, with the exception of the guy that repairs glasses. He sucks. I went in to have my little girl's glasses straightened/fitted one day, and he took the glasses around the corner, fiddled with them alittle, then he put them on the counter for the staff to give back to me! What?!? Aren't you going to put them on my daughter and see if they are straight or too tight??? I guess not. He didn't look at us once, and he just disappeared around the corner. I didn't make a fuss, I just take my daughter to another office, Dr. Christine Davis (A Visible Change), in Bonita. They are all awesome with kids, and take the time to properly fit the glasses! read more

Worst staff in the world these owners know how to take advantage of latinos. I go in there for family members all the time and they literally will go in the back office and pretend to adjust your lenses. The actual doctors do this and they dont do anything all they do is tell the customer that its better and they agree and walk away. I have been doing some digging on this business... stay away and ill update some more. Dont forget about the insufferable front desk manager, she always has an attitude. But yes the doctors lie to customers all the time and they dont adjust your glasses. read more

I drive 30 minutes out of my way to come HERE for my annual eye exam because they are just the best. I have had bad vision my entire life and am used to frequenting the eye doctor, so after much experience in Optometrist offices, I can say confidently that this one is the best in San Diego. Came in around 2pm to get two pair glasses adjusted they were on lunch and be back in 10 min..when next door for 5 min..came back sat down for another 10 min...nobody helped me..already as it it I had to park next to jack in the box cause there is hardly any parking..at least acknowledge me and let me know ahead of time of other people are also waiting...now I am still stuck with two pair glasses that too loose! read more

I noticed a level of thoroughness and thoughtfulness that is an exception to every day service. The eye exam I had by Dr Hanono was comprehensive and efficient, using state-of-the-art equipment. The staff was patient and delightful from the front door through to helping me find a great pair of glasses. The entire process was Covid-safe sensitive. 2nd update I had another call today from Dr H requesting I come in after the lunch hour. I just left from picking up my sunglasses... Dr H himself came out to speak with me, thanked me for the feedback & proved himself to be a classy gentleman! EDIT I received a call from the owner, apologizing and not making excuses. He explained their rapid growth and the impact it's had and how they are learning from the process. This is the service I expect! Thanks for caring Dr H! Not giving this place just 1 star b/c I like my glasses, I just think the office staff has a lot to learn about customer service. I have never felt welcomed by the staff nor do I feel like they appreciated my wanting to find out what other color options certain frames came in. The worst part of the process with the office staff is poor communication. Keep in mind, I bought regular glasses, sunglasses, and used two old frames for computer glasses and a backup pair of regular glasses. I spent over a grand so I would expect at least politeness. I was told I would receive a call when my glasses came in. I had not received a call over a week later so I called to inquire. I was told they would be done by noon the next day. I went in about 11:30. I was told two pair were not ready and two other customers were 'ahead' of me. Lady told me she would keep track of the one pair that should be done by EOD and call me to let me know they were ready as I needed the computer glasses for a test I was taking the next day. At 4:30, no call. I called in and was told they had been ready for some time - as if to insinuate that I was late picking them up.... I go BACK in to pick up one pair. I was informed that tech got behind which is why they hadn't called me??? Not sure I can tie those two things together. If anything, I'd expect a call if there was a delay. I was told, again, that someone would call when my sunglasses were done in about a week. Fast forward I've two weeks and still no call..... when I called in to see if they were ready, I discovered they had been ready 3 days earlier and again no one called b/c they were behind b/c they were between techs. How the heck does losing your tech prevent you from calling me??? if you tell a customer you are going to call, then call them. I now wish I had taken my business to my old optometrist. read more

Love love love this place! This is my 2nd time coming here and honestly have had the best service. I've been going to Walmart optometrist and it's nothing compared. I rather support small/family owned businesses and this one takes the cake. I shoulda caught the front desk girls name, but she was really sweet and informative in helping me decide which frames best suited my face. the doctor I had was very genuine and had a great sense of humor. I worked with his son the first time I was there and he was very kind as well. I just feel genuinely taken care of, and it makes all the difference. I love the selection of frames (which made it tough to decide ) Thank you for your awesome service and taking serious sanitation precautions ( body temperature, sanitizer, and sanitizing the frames we touch, and everyone wearing a mask). First time needing glasses Dr Hanano was very nice, helpful, friendly and accurate. My glasses are perfect. I no longer have headaches. My only complaint is that they want to sell you the glasses that have been on display. So they are used and scratch. All you have to do is ask them to order you a new pair and they gladly do so. I went to Imperial Beach Optometry a while back for an eye exam, and my experience was fantastic. The staff is professional, the wait time was minimal, and the doctor had a great sense of humor and kept the mood light. My experience was such a pleasant one that I decided to purchase my sunglasses there. They didn't have the pair that I wanted in their inventory so they took down my number, ordered them, and called me when they were in. The price was fair and they even helped heat them and mold them to my face to get them to fit better. I will recommend this place to everyone. Thanks for the excellent service! read more
