ZERO: UPDATE: 1/21/2026 (Should've just gone to LensCrafters in the beginning) I went back in to have them replace the lens as the prescription was not right, and the doctor updated it. I dropped off my eyeglasses on 12/31/2025, and now it is 01/21/2026. I called to check if it's ready for pick up. They could not find my glasses at first and put me on hold for so long. Finally, they found it, but all they told me was that my eyeglasses are not ready because they didn't even send them out! The guy on the phone said he could refund me how much I paid and pick up my glasses. Are you seriously telling me that, after this whole time I waited for almost a month, just like what they've put me through last year. I thought they just made that ONE mistake. No, now this is the second time. My final conclusion about this place is that their staff really do not care. DO NOT try to make this mistake as I did, guys. STAY AWAY from this place. UPDATED REVIEW: 12/11/2025: I received a call from their manager a few days after I posted the first review (see original review below) to resolve the eyeglasses issue, letting me know that the lab was still working on my eyeglasses and that they are located in Texas. I understand that location part and having no control over the lab's schedule, so I think that upper management or the CEO should be aware of their laboratory's mistakes and how long it would take to fix them. My eyeglasses arrived yesterday, 12/10/2025, so it has been a long time since I ordered them on 11/6/2025. I received a call yesterday from one of their staff to let me know that my order is ready, and I asked for a discount because it took a while. The staff said the manager is the only person who can give the discount, so I went in today to pick up my eyeglasses and waited for the manager. The staff are still very nice and accommodating, although we know not all places are like that, especially since most places do not understand customers' frustrations and reactions to staff's mistakes. We know that most places would just give you an attitude and dismiss your concerns/issues. I believe the manager's name is Gerard, whom I saw today, apologized, and was going to give me half of the amount that I paid back. Because they are accommodating with no behavioral concerns, I asked for the amount of their military or veteran discount instead (since I did not get the discount when I ordered). Gerard gave me 15% (their military or veteran discount) and processed the discount to be returned to my account. How they do their job and their customer service skills really matter to me, regardless of where I go, and this is why I gave them 1 star at first, now 4 stars with an updated review, and told them they did not have to give me half off because I understand business. Thank you for changing my mind about wanting to go back to Stanton again. The definition of a good business is having employees like them who deserve to have this job, especially in healthcare. ORIGINAL REVIEW: 12/3/2025 I brought my prescription and my own eyeglasses frame here a month ago. I had my prescription done at another optometry where they accept my insurance, since Stanton doesn't take my insurance. This store called me 2 weeks ago only to tell me that they received my glasses, but the lenses don't fit in the frame. The staff told me she has to send it back, and I have to wait another 2 weeks. I will not be giving this company any service after my experience today. My boyfriend is having blurry vision in his left eye (even after getting TWO exams in the past few months) and we wanted to address this concern to see if there was something going on with his eyes rather than the prescription itself, so I called this place to initially schedule an office/medical visit. The guy on the phone said he would have to do the comprehensive exam for $79.95 so I said okay, booked the appointment for today (June 15) at 3:30 PM, and he reiterated the time, date, and address. I relayed all this information to my boyfriend and he left work at 3 PM to make the 3:30 PM appointment. He checks in and is sent to sit in the back, is brought in to the pretesting room, and after explaining why he's there the guy said he should reschedule when the doctor is in. First of all, I explained the reason for coming when I made the appointment. Maybe listen to your patients concerns rather than shoving down your 79.95 promotion down our throats? Also, why are appointments being scheduled without the doctor in? Are we scheduling troubleshoots for the glasses? Are these Telehealth appointments and if so, why is that not communicated to the patient online and on the phone? Such an unacceptable and unprofessional experience. I'll begin by stating that I have been having issues with my left eye and vision has been getting blurry and my experience here was way better than at other places...No they don't always have an optometrist there every day that they're open. However you certainly can call to make an appointment for a day that there's an optometrist scheduled for the same price. I needed to desperately get a new prescription at an affordable price. The equipment that they have available to them is not to exam any further complications, in which case people should go visit specialists and not expect for locations like these to be able to give them a diagnosis. The optometrists are still kind enough to give you referrals depending on your situation. I was seen by Doctor Susan and she was absolutely amazing. She took her time with me in trying to find a prescription that would work with me. Considering my situation and how difficult it is for me to see, I cannot be more grateful for the knowledge she shared with me. I've previously gone to Eyeglass World on Broadway and that location is absolutely horrible- the doctor was very rushed, he refused to give me any glasses or my prescription even after I paid for the exam. Going from that experience, to the recent experience I just had at Stanton, is complete night and day. In a nutshell, don't expect to get a full diagnosis as these places aren't meant for that, schedule your exam over the phone to be seen with an actual doctor (it takes 2 minutes), and communicate if you're there for any promotions. Our first visit to Stanton Optical was disappointing from start to finish. We originally switched from another reputable company because our insurance was no longer accepted there. Although Stanton wasn't contracted with our vision insurance, the scheduler assured us they would honor in-network benefits, so we made an appointment. When we arrived, there was only one staff member (Ethan) juggling both scheduled appointments and walk-ins. After selecting our glasses, we waited as walk-ins were prioritized. The overall customer service was poor. Upon reviewing our order forms at home, I realized both pairs of glasses were for reading, even though I had requested one for reading and one for driving. I made several calls to correct the order, but was repeatedly put on hold and told Ethan would call me back--which never happened. I ended up driving back to the office, only to find Ethan with multiple customers, some of whom were also frustrated and requesting refunds for delayed orders. I tried to clarify my prescription needs, but was assured the correction had been made. Unfortunately, when I picked up my glasses, both were still for reading. To make matters worse, I was charged for a "Frame Club" I never asked for, which was explained as a way to apply discounts. When I asked for a rush on the corrected order, I was told it would still take two weeks, despite the mistake being on their end. Nearly a month after my original order, I'm still waiting for my glasses. As healthcare professionals, my husband and I value quality care and service--neither of which we found at Stanton. This place is god awful. Appointment set for 3pm on 10/15/25 Showed up at 2:50 to an empty store besides two front staff who told me to just "hang out in the back". The lady who did my exam walked into the building at 3:20. Finished my exam and was told to wait in the front. So i sat down thinking the examiner would tell the front staff to check me out and give me my prescription. Nope. Stood There twiddling my thumbs. Ultimately this resulted in me having to pay out of my pocket for an exam because the examiner didn't know how to input my insurance and the front staff was nowhere to be found until someone who wanted to purchase frames walked in and was no longer available for me. Could i have waited ? sure. Should i have waited an Hour and ten minutes for this whole process with absolutely nobody else in the building? No. The exam was 20 minutes long. Let me tell my story! First I just want to say I've gotten glasses here .My experience was very pleasant. New day 12/18/2024 . I have an old pair of eye glasses that I use for around the house . The old glasses finally broke so I decided to go to the last place I bought glasses. Ok I went in and a man came out of the back room speaking Spanish to me so I said excuse me ? The attendant said he's here to get a cheap pair of frames for some old glasses. Well he took the glasses from me and told me to sit down? I'm 72 years old not 7 ? . I told him what I was looking for well he came back with this pair that I wasn't impressed with but I said that will work ,how much do I owe you ?? Which he said $139 I was in shock. I said why because I can get 2 pair for $79 new . I said no thanks then he said ok $99 no then $79 no then finally $50 . Sooo my mom needed glasses for driving and the DMV vision exam. I scheduled an appointment and we made the mistake of going into the Stanton Optical on Broadway in Chula Vista. The eye exam was frustrating because the optometrist wasn't there and it was hard hearing him over the tablet they were using. So we finished the eye exam and then we looked for frames. We found 2 pairs of the right color (the frames are color coded by price) and took them to the associate. We went there for the promo 2 pairs of glasses for 79$. I understand some lenses might be more expensive than others but this guy looks at me and my mom. Then he says 950$ for 2 pairs. I'm really cutting you guys a deal. We asked about the deal and he told us my mom's lenses were more expensive and it would cost more. So then he tells us he can only give us one pair for 200$. We really needed the glasses for my moms exam and only had about 10 days until her DMV appointment. So my mom purchased the glasses. So no 2 pairs for 79$. Only one pair for 200. I feel like my mom was scammed. Not only did she have to pay more the glasses were the wrong prescription. She can't even use them. I wanted her to take them back but she can be stubborn. She told me her experience was so terrible she didn't even want to step foot in that store again. So... poof! 200$ wasted. Now, if it would have been my decision I would have gone back and fought for a refund. My mom ended up passing her exam with an old pair of glasses. They even took her insurance as well! So it probably cost more! I'm still mad about it but life goes on. Stay away from this place or this location at least. To add icing to the cake... my boss went to a different Stanton Optical and he got 2 pairs for 79$ no problem. I hope I'm reviewing the Stanton Optical at 1295 Broadway at the intersection of Broadway and Palomar (which could technically be Otay Mesa, I guess, but I consider it to be in Chula Vista. Anyway, If you're looking for an eyeglass place, I am convinced Stanton Optical is where you should go. I can't attest to all locations being as wonderful as this one, but I know I'll never go to another company again! This is a company that lives up to its marketing! First, some background... I recently broke down and got prescription glasses at another place which were covered by my insurance. I had them for less than three months when I decided to go to the park (a beautiful San Diego Sunday) with a blanket and a book. I read for a while and then decided to take a nap. I set my book and glasses aside and when I woke up, someone had stolen my glasses! What kind of low-life steals prescription glasses? Anyway I returned to the company that made them and explained what had happened and asked about getting a replacement. I was advised I was not eligible for a replacement until January 2026, nearly two years away! And the cost (out of pocket!) to replace them was $200! To put that into perspective, I live on Social Security and can barely make it through each month. I decided to "rough it" with dollar-store glasses (wearing two of the strongest pairs available just to read because one pair is not strong enough!), which is what I was wearing before I got these prescription glasses. On television one day, I saw the Stanton Optical ad about getting two pairs of glasses for $79, which they said would be ready the same day. I figured there had to be a gimmick...I was convinced I would have to go through the next two years with geeky thick-framed glasses, but at least I could read (you've probably guessed that I love to read!) I went to the Stanton Optical local at 1295 Broadway near my home and -- after a high-tech, remotely conducted eye examination, which impressed this 68yo man! -- I was assisted by the kindest, most patient, friendliest, most professional young lady imaginable (I'll never forget her name...it was Sinai, but it's not pronounced like the desert!). Before sitting down with Sinai, I had had a couple minutes to peruse their inventory of frames; they color-code their selection, and I automatically assumed the $79 special was not going to be with any frames I'd prefer but would only apply to the black, thick-framed glasses that were the subject of ridicule in school. No! I was stunned to see I was spoiled for choice and I easily picked out two frames that I liked (and that I wouldn't be ashamed to wear in public!) and I just knew I'd be told that the special didn't apply to THOSE frames. Wrong! I'll be honest, the cost for my glasses was more than $79 but that's only because the vision in my right eye is so bad that it required a special lens (which also prevented me from getting them the same day, but it only added a week to the delivery), but the frames I had chosen WERE available at the advertised price! They don't pull a bait and switch on you! I'll tell you upfront, the final cost of my glasses, with the frames I chose AND the special lens material required to correct my vision was only $129...in total...and not a penny more! Compare that to the first eyeglass place I went to that wanted to charge me $200 for a replacement pair! Long story short, I picked them up today and when I went to the Broadway and Palomar location, Jose promptly handed them to me with some protective cases and I can READ again! I asked Jose when I would be eligible to return for a replacement if these were lost (or God forbid stolen!), and he just smiled and told me to come back when I needed them. I had an appointment scheduled for 1:30 pm today. I was greeted right away and she was very friendly. After a few minutes I had my eyes photographed and the glaucoma test. Then I sat down and waited for the "Doctor." I was under the impression there was actually a doctor there. I waited a total of 50 minutes without anyone seeing me. I then asked what I was waiting for, and was told that thee doctor had not "picked up." I then asked if this was all virtual, and she said yes, it was telemedicine. I then told the girl that I was going back to Costco Optical and walked out. There is always a reason for discount prices and, at least for me, I want to talk face to face with my doctor. read more

I strongly advise against utilizing this service and recommend seeking a reputable optometrist instead. Although I have previously used telehealth optometry services without issue, the individual I interacted with here seemed more like a call center representative following a scripted protocol rather than a qualified professional. They documented my responses and passed them along to an optometrist, who then produced a prescription that was entirely inaccurate. Having maintained a very mild prescription over 23 years, I was astounded when Stanton informed me that I needed a much stronger prescription and progressive lenses. My visit was initially to replace a pair of broken glasses, I never had issues seeing out of them and definitely never had issues reading with them. I chose Stanton because they claimed to offer same day glasses online, something else that doesn't seem to be able to be fulfilled. When I expressed my doubts about the accuracy of the prescription, the associate merely pointed me to their high Google rating rather than addressing my concerns. Subsequently, I visited a licensed optometrist, who not only confirmed the inaccuracies in Stanton's prescription but also mentioned receiving numerous complaints about them from state boards. In summary, vision care is crucial and should not be entrusted to entities that exhibit questionable practices and attempt to upsell unneeded products like eye supplements. These glasses are the cheapest glasses I've ever had in my entire life and I even mean cheaper than the sunglasses that I bought for $.99 store. I suggest going to your local Cosco or Walmart Optometrist. To begin, my sister and mother went in and my sister met the doctor online. THERE IS NO Ophthalmologists, there are 3 people that work there and none of them are doctors. Your eye exam will be done through a video call. Second, their promotion of $79 which includes 2 pairs, the eye exam, anti-glare lenses, and same day. At the end the total for it was $469 without any modifications. They applied discounts because they saw how infuriating my mother and sister were. At the end the suspicious receptionist kept giving discounts and the total eneded up being $153. The whole thing was sketchy and no explanation was given for it. If you do go in ask for the promotion directly, how it works, and ask if any extra fees will be included. read more

The only thing I would say that could be improved is that instead of making you read and check all your family health history from a tablet. It would be helpful if someone else read the options for you instead of you forcing your eye sight to read and answer questions.
