    Prescription for mastitis

Two days after visiting the spa with a friend who recommended it, I developed hot tub folliculitis and mastitis. Essentially they are red dots that appear all over your body caused by bacteria because the water is not properly chlorinated. Unfortunately, that same bacteria got into my right breast, and it became inflamed and painful to the touch whenever something brushed it, like my clothes. I had to go to the gynecologist because mastitis does not go away on its own. Plus, you need to take an ultrasound after you drink the antibiotics to ensure that the antibiotics is working. Like others mentioned in this Yelp review (which I did not get a chance to read before I came to the spa), they did not provide the slippers when you go to the bathroom, so you do not know if the water pooled near the toilet seat is wet from the spa or something else. In addition, I was not informed by the staff that I need to take a shower before and after the spa. I only knew it because my friend told me how it's done. Otherwise, the staff is nice. I would have given it a higher rating if I did not contract this.

I showed up a little early (because they advertise free two hours before or after your service) the manager yelled at me to wait outside for 10 mins, when I stepped outside and received this email: He was so hostile, I don't even want to walk back in there to ask for an explanation.

Imperial Day Spa is a hidden gem for those seeking an authentic Korean spa experience. From the moment you walk in, the tranquil atmosphere sets the tone for relaxation. The spa is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The Korean Body Scrub - A Must-Try The highlight of my visit was the traditional Korean body scrub, and let me tell you--it's intense but incredibly effective. The skilled therapists leave no inch of your skin untouched, scrubbing away layers of dead skin to reveal baby-soft, glowing skin. It's both invigorating and deeply cleansing, leaving you feeling refreshed and renewed. Facilities & Amenities Imperial Day Spa offers a variety of hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms,

Ask the Community - Imperial Day Spa

Do they supply disposable razors and shaving cream?

    They don't allow shaving there.

Is the only thing available for men the 20min scrub?

I got an acupuncture massage as well.

Are the hours posted on Yelp accurate I can't see their business hours on the website?

Still closed, yelp is not correct business hours.

I am interested in going, but what should I expect for a 1st timer here?

Have an open mind if you haven't been to a bath house before. Just know that you're there for you. Keep quiet. I try not to look at other people since we're all naked and I think others do the same. It's a nice experience.

Can you do the spa for as long as you want? Or is there a time limit on how long you can stay?

There was a sign that said 4 hour limit when I was there just now. I didn't stay that long, so I'm not sure how/how strictly it is enforced.

Do they provide shirts and shorts for the jimjibang? And is there a time limit on how long your can stay at the spa?

    They provide shorts for men.

I'd like to bring my daughters who are 10 and 7? Is that possible?

No, I don't think it's an environment for children. You should verify with the establishment but I would say children would not be allowed.

Is there a certain order one should be using the services? Shower, hot tub, sauna, then scrub? Shower, hot tub, scrub, then sauna? How would you personally do it? Thanks!

Shower, scrub, sauna, and then icy pool..

Do they provide lockers with locks? Any reason to worry about storing my stuff there?

Yes, they provide lockers and locks. No reason to worry.

    Is this spa co Ed?

No. It is sex segregated. We have two gender-segregated spa and locker room areas. Accordingly, guests will be completely nude while using our facilities. We do not offer…

I got the silverbell 1 hour message, which comes with the scrub, massage, and also a hair wash. The lady was super gentle and checked in on me whether that was the water temperature, scrub pressure or the massage strength. Environment & Ambience: Kabuki has a much wider space, calming music, great ambience, wonderful smells and decor. OnsenSF is a dining space when you enter and spa in the back. Everything looks modern and nice, relaxing environment despite being located in the tenderloin. 3. Hot Tub: Kabuki has a rectangle shaped hot tub as opposed to OnsenSF's square shaped tub. 4. Cold plunge: Kabuki has a cold plunge that's perfect for people who don't need it to be extremely freezing. OnsenSF has a cold shower with many heads in place of a cold plunge. Both are enjoyable experiences 5. Steam Room: Kabuki's steam room is also rectangular as opposed to OnsenSF's square room. Kabuki's steam room also has a shower to rinse off excess salt and sweat before entering the common area. 6. Showers: At Kabuki, there's also a line of stools for the seated handheld showers where you can fill a tub of water and pour it over yourself in addition to the traditional shower stalls, where OnsenSF only has the traditional showers if I recall correctly. 7. Sauna: The sauna was great because you could adjust the heat by moving up the wooden bleachers. There was also plenty of space to stretch out and lie down. There were wooden half-cylinder blocks to place under the neck and back to promote blood flow. My partner's favorite standout was the salt scrub they have that's free to take at the refreshments table. You use it to scrub away dead skin in the shower and steam room. My favorite was the bowl of towels buried in ice cubes that helped me keep a cool head in the hot tub and sauna room. I will say that the thing that makes OnsenSF stand out is their dining pop-ups, but there's plenty of dining options on Fillmore and in Japantown. I would definitely go back to Kabuki again. The experience was incredibly relaxing. Highly recommend.

Two things that I can't ignore and hope management reads this. 1. There is room for improvement on the locker room getting so crowded. 2. Do NOT trust the sandals. They are plastic and incredibly slippery when wet. Since they are not sized to the individual, it's dangerous. I slipped out of my sandals and fell down the stairs in the large Russian Sauna. This resulted in multiple abrasions and a large laceration on my forearm and I actually got stitches for the first time. Sandals have to be fixed, there's stairs everywhere here. The people in the sauna were super nice and helped me, luckily, I'm pretty fit, but it could've been really really bad. Credit to the staff for not charging me for my time there, honestly, I would've rather paid and left uninjured. This review is from my visit experience at Onsen several months ago, so I hope their system is…read morebetter now. I hate to leave a bad review, especially since the lady at the check-in desk was extremely kind, polite, and nice. However, various aspects of this place were unacceptable. It was my first visit, which I will never revisit due to the following reasons. First, Onsen charges $50 for an entrance fee, which we are allowed to stay for two hours. However, the overall service I got was not worth the price at all. 1. I was there for the ladies-only day. The locker room area was TOO small and fully crowded to use. I waited for 7-8 minutes until people started leaving and had more space inside to squeeze in, while other people who were standing, naked and covered with towels, tried to get to their lockers. That was the check-in, and when I left, it was the same case for getting ready for check-out. I became one of the towel-covered naked people who were waiting to get to the locker, while other people were staying in the same form. I felt like I was in a low-budget high school female locker room. 2. The lotion in the female locker area was out. I purposely placed the bottle at the edge of the amenity area so that they would refill it, but in the end, the empty bottle was returned to the original spot with the inside still empty. 3. The bathing area is relatively small. And there are only two shower heads we could use, with very low pressure and dripping water, besides the larger water shower head for those who prefer cold water after bathing. The pressure was too low, and we could hardly wash our bodies to rinse off the soap. Nobody was washing their hair, and I couldn't wash mine either due to the amazingly TOO low pressure shower, which was rather dripping water from the showerhead. 4. Including the empty lotion in the powder room, their amenity inside had no label, only a self-posted "shampoo" label. It would have been nicer if we could have known what we were getting for our body, such as organic, vegan, not animal-tested, or a decent brand, etc. 5. During my two-hour stay, the cleaning person came inside the female bath area a few times to remove the used towels, but didn't care about cleaning other things inside. In such a small bathing space, there were about 20 used cups left all over, which was quite disturbing. 6. I know this is not their fault, but two young ladies inside KEPT talking for two hours quite loudly. At first, I thought I was being too sensitive, but when I moved to the sauna area, people inside whispered and complained about the chat noise they were making. I couldn't relax at all because of their private and personal stories about their work, guys they met, etc. In the end, I couldn't stop wondering if those types of young ladies are regular customers at Onsen. 7. This is the most disgusting part, which, as mentioned, I will never go back to this place. When I was getting ready to leave at the exit spot, I saw a cleaning person using the same wet cloth she had wiped the floor with, rubbing the used sandals they were providing to their guests. According to my common sense, those shared sandals/slippers are sanitized after each use, or if not, they are at least rinsed with hot water and soap, and possibly treated with a sanitizing spray. I've been to other spas in the city, like Pxxxx Spa, which constantly cleans the shared items, such as slippers, combs, and hair dryers. I didn't see any of those "caring" and "safe" considerations to maintain cleanliness for shared items for the guests at Onsen. Lastly, I felt like naming this place 'Onsen' is almost a big joke and an insult to real onsens in Japan, where we could relax in such a clean and pampering atmosphere in tranquility.

I booked a couples massage for the 3rd week of October, in celebration of my partner's birthday…read more M Spa staff was great in informing me that it would have to be 2 separate rooms, but at the same time. They also informed me that due to the size of the facility and for the best experience of all patrons, members can arrive no more than 30 minutes before to use the facilities. They also informed me that parking could be difficult, due to it being the Castro, so plan ahead. As somebody who thinks himself as a master planner, I felt like I had the perfect birthday planned. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that this same spa date at M Spa aligned with the Pumpkin event in Half Moon Bay. After our 2 hour brunch appointment at Navio, we were stuck in traffic blitz where Google Maps, Apple Maps, and the Tesla navigation kept pushing the ETA to the right. Two hours before the appointment, I called M Spa and asked if there were any later appointments for that Saturday. Unfortunately, they were already fully booked (lesson - book far in advance to secure your spot). I called again an hour before the appointment and informed them that we cannot make it. I asked if I can reschedule and they indicated that since it was my first time, they would gladly honor the rescheduling without charging me any fees (which was extremely gracious). That amount of customer service earned them the 5 stars. When we finally went, the week after, I made sure we were in the Castro area an hour before. We wondered around until it was the 30 minutes before the appointment to use their facilities. They had a very clean and tidy locker room area for members to put their personal belongings and to change into their robes. There was also a 2 stall shower and a steam room where 3 people can fit. The lounge area was also calming and came equipped with tea and snacks. The staff went above and beyond, and after our amazing 90 minute massages, which left us floating and wanting to come back, they made settling the bill simple and even gave us 15% off our next service. I love you M Spa. You truly set the bar.
