Then it was like they disappeared off the earth for 2 weeks - no response. I finally got them to respond, and they basically told me to eff off that if I wasn't going to "follow their demands to the very letter" they weren't going to help me. Like *I* was wasting their time. Why was *I* the one tasked with finding my own parts anyway -- they're supposed to be the "experts", or did they just brush me off with bs scut work hoping I'll just go away because I'm a girl with some actual mechanical knowledge. These guys are awesome. I never have an issue getting an appointment, they're courteous and professional, always turn the work around same-day, and their prices are incredibly fair. I have a 10 year old BMW (with all the issues that brings with it) and I used to take it into the dealership for service, never leaving for less than $500, usually much more. Not with these guys! Being the silly woman I am I took my Honda in to be checked as first my oil light went on and then my engine light. Brady was good enough to stop whatever he was working on to do an engine check and check my oil. It seems I was very low on oil. He filled my tank and sent me on my way not asking for a dime. This is good business folks. I can't tell you how many times over the years mechanics took advantage of my ignorance. Brady could have easily told me I need this or that and I would have paid him. Brady is the man. I have a 98 Camry that got the check engine light on right before it was DEQ time. I got the codes at autozone and did some internet sleuthing. I did about $150 of repairs myself before I gave up because light kept coming on and I was running out of things I could do myself. I found Brady due to his overwhelmingly positive yelp reviews so I went to him and left my car there. He called me back and said he ran a battery of tests and couldn't find anything wrong and that it wasn't worth throwing a bunch of parts at my car. He didn't charge me anything for running the tests which was very nice of him. He had me drive it around for a couple days and take notes on what I was doing when the light would come on and go off. After I did this for a couple days I dropped it off again and he hypothesized some switch wasn't working on my car and that it needed to be replaced. Sure enough after replacing it, the check engine light never came back on and I passed DEQ! read more

I would like to provide this necessary disclosure right out of the gate: Most reviews on businesses are written when clients have either exceptionally good or exceptionally bad experiences so it's best to take online reviews, including mine, with a grain of salt. With that said, I had an exceptionally bad experience at Import Repair Center, inc. I don't think that I have ever written a negative review of a business but boy, was I COMPELLED. Here's the short version. Called to get a quote for 4 engine mount replacements and was told that they don't do quotes over the phone but that I should bring my car in and that they open at 7 am. They would do the diagnosis and then let me know the issue in a few hours. Brady also assured me that my car would be ready by the end of the day. This was important because I had appointments the following day that I needed my car for. When they conducted their diagnosis, I was told that they only needed to replace 2 of the engine mounts, not the four that I had been told at the previous mechanic. Apparently, in addition to the engine mounts, my car also needed a transmission mount, a part that they would have to order. Brady said he would try to get the part in by the end of the day and finish installing it on my car. This was around 1 pm. At no point did Brady think to mention that their business hours were 6pm-4pm, not 8am-6pm as google + yelp state. Not only did Brady communicate that he was unable to get the part in that day and that my car would not be ready as he'd promised, he acted as though I was the one being unreasonable one for insisting that I pick up my unfinished car so I could drive it the next day to my appointments. He was very unprofessional and stated "well I guess I'll have to drive all back to the shop and get your car down and have it ready for you" before hanging up on me. Only upon arrival did Brady mention their amended business hours. He failed to let me know that my car wasn't going to be ready before closing time and then acted indignant when I called during the advertised business hours. I came in and pick up my car and tell him that I'll bring it by the following week (the soonest they had openings again) for them to complete the job. Yesterday, I brought my car in at 6:45 am because Brady made it a point to tell me that they opened at 6:00 am. When no one had arrived on the premises by 7:15, I dropped my keys off in the mail slot and walked home. I called around 9am to make sure that they received my keys alright and had started working on it. Brady said that they should be done in the next 60-90 minutes.. When I called in the afternoon around 1pm (almost 3 hours after he said it would be ready by) for an update, I was told that they actually wanted to replace four of the mounts and not two as they had previously stated. Fine. I was interrupted when I tried to explain that I had a meeting at 4 pm and Brady kept assuring me that it would be ready in time without knowing exactly when I needed it by. This guy calls me at 3:50 pm to tell me that it's ready. I was prepping for my meeting and missed his call. He leaves several voicemails telling me my car was ready, including one voicemail where he fails to hang up and can be heard speaking poorly about me to his coworkers. Brady + his mechanics displayed extremely poor communication skills--skills that should be the bare minimum for any customer-facing establishment. It's also worth mentioning that I am a black woman and I can't help but wonder if that is the reason for my poor treatment. Most of these reviews are extremely positive so I am wondering why my treatment was the anomaly. read more

This review is a long time in the making. A little background: I moved to Portland about 2 years ago from the East Coast, knowing no-one and never having stepped foot in the city before. One of my first things to get done was to find a trusted local mechanic, so I spent hours scouring the web to find the best. I stumbled upon Brady at Import Repair Center, and every review looked stellar, so I made a mental note that I would give them a shot. The first car I bought here had seemingly endless problems. Brady knew that this was my first time in Portland and he gave me straight forward and honest answers, while making time for me after hours and being extremely fair on prices. He and Carlos are by far the best and nicest mechanics I have ever met, and they have treated me like a son. When I was searching for my second car (the first eventually was costing more than it was worth), Brady made sure to check every car I brought in until he was satisfied with the quality and the deal I was getting. I can truly say that my time here in Portland would be far worse if not for Brady and Carlos. They have made this southern boy feel looked after in this big city. After 6 months, lots of money and 2 tows to my old mechanic I finally threw in the towel and called Brady at Import Repair Center. He diagnosed my car in one phone call. Skeptical I drove my car by so he could take a look see. He was absolutely convinced of his diagnosis. Bad head gasket and radiator. Odd considering my old mechanic was convinced it was not the head gasket nor the radiator. I took a chance and had Brady and his crew of one Carlos fixed my car. They replaced the gasket, radiator and timing belt for less then my old mechanic quoted. My car runs like new. Both Brady and Carlos are great guys, friendly, funny and professional. Felt great about potentially having a repair shop I can trust 2 blocks from my front door. Called this Tuesday to explain what was going on with my 2013 Impreza and spoke with Bratty who told me Carlos would have time to look at it the next day (Wed.) Paid out of pocket to have it towed over and it was at the shop at 830am along with the requested warranty paper work. Its Friday, 4 pm, Still haven't heard anything so give him a ring and leave a message. Bratty calls me back in a reasonable amount of time to explain to me that I haven't heard anything because he cant read the numbers on the paper work I dropped off. A quick phone call could have remedied that on Wednesday, or Thursday, or even today. I explain that its been three days and no word at all is a bit unsettling especially going into the weekend still having no clue on if they are even going to work on the car. Going forward, I will not take my car anywhere else. I have a 2005 Toyota Scion, and a few years ago I got into a little fender bender that left me with no hazard lights or blinkers. Until now, I have always taken my car into Scion to get things fixed. I called them about my blinkers, and they told me it would be $100 JUST to diagnose the problem, not even fix it. Meanwhile, two years ago I got my belts replaced at Scion. This year, they started squeaking again. I called Scion, and sure enough it was the same thing: $100 just to take a look at the belts. I was feeling frustrated and like my car was falling apart. I took my car into Import Repair Center after a recommendation from my boyfriend, and immediately felt more at ease. Brady & Carlos are a great team; they work efficiently and effectively. In a few hours, they had changed my oil, fixed the short on my blinker, and tightened my belts for EXTREMELY reasonably priced. He also made me feel so much more confident about the state of my car and what I would need to do to keep it in good shape going forward. Brady is warm and friendly and clearly takes his craft seriously. Terrible! I had my vehicle towed across town to Brady's shop after making an appointment to do so. He then denied that we had an appointment and said he didn't have room for my vehicle. After he looked at it finally, he yelled at me on the phone for bringing it to him and wouldn't even clearly tell me what was wrong with it. It was extremely degrading and mortifying. It was a terrible experience which I am still recovering from. I will never go there again and would not reccomend it to anyone. read more

With no appointment and no call I showed up and within 15 minutes they had diagnosed the problem and sent me on my way. I was initially hesitant S his shop is quite far from my home but some friends insisted I go to him. Brady is honest and affordable. I do not maintain my cars like I should and expected to get a lot done. He was up front and repaired what was necessary so I don't upset my car. Since I won the award for longest mileage between oil changes, he wanted to make sure I didn't so any damage before paying a lot for maintenance. He also didn't think some maintenance was necessary quite yet which after reading up on was very true! My car was diagnosed and fixed with-in 24 hours. My car is older -- a 2003 Honda Civic -- but that doesn't matter, Brady always shows it the same amount of care as a newer car. I was having the most random starting problem with my Saturn Ion. After researching many different mechanics decided to take my car here. I was having an issue with my heater not working. I called and spoke with Brady who basically diagonosed the issue right there on the phone. It was a very minor thing, only needed a small part. I have always had a great experience with taking my car here. Until this time. I was having an issue on my Prius and I took it in. Brady and Carlos ran diagnostics on it and nothing came up. Was asked if they can hold my car another day, figure sure why not. Maybe he will find something. Nothing was found and was told to come get my car. This is where I felt this was not a great experience. I'm being told I would get a call and I don't and I call them before they close. Then I'm told I would get a call in the morning. No call, had to call him again in the afternoon. I explain that I get off at 5p and should be there around 530p (give or take traffic). Was told if he has to leave early will call me to make accommodations. I get to the shop around 535p when it states they close at 6p and they are gone. Called, rang the doorbell...nothing. So I'm without a car and hoping they will be open Monday so I can pick up my car. If not then I'm going to have to find someone to get it for me so I'm no longer without my car. Unsure after this if I will take my car back but only time will tell. read more

I used to drive an older Mercedes Benz and if I ever had any problems with the car. I would drop it off, and he would call me and tell me what the problem was, fix the problem and then charge me a fair price for the work . I was going to purchase a used BMW before I bought the car, I had Brady look it over and he gave me the go ahead,. We bought the car and it is the best car we've ever owned. We still take our cars there even though it is little bit of a drive, but it is worth it.
