My car suddenly had a low engine oil warning come on and this Valvoline Express Care was the nearest place to me. I pulled up and was taken care of within 5 minutes. I know next to nothing about cars and Travis and his colleague were so patient with my amateurish questions about engine oil and transparent about costs, even gave me tips on what to pay attention to with my car. I used to go exclusively to the dealership to get my car serviced due to the number of recalls I had to deal with simultaneously but will now see about going to these guys for regular maintenance. read more

Bummer... It was a big BUMMER. This is all I can say about this shop. When I had my thermostat swapped out last year in August, only to have the part fail, I was told it fell into warranty and to bring my car in to make sure it was the thermostat. After their diagnosis, they informed me it wasn't the thermostat and I would have to $160 for another diagnostic to see what it could be. I denied and brought my car to another shop due to them being a reputable shop from recommendations from my family. That shop did their diagnostic test and within an hour called me back saying it was the thermostat. Not wanting to take my car back to the original shop due to the experience I was having, I had them switch the thermostat out. My car is now running great. Seems kind of fishy that the original shop didn't come to that conclusion. When returning to the original shop to contest the bill I had to pay, they told me there was nothing they can do for me. My experience trying to utilize the warranty this shop said they had on their work, was very annoying and time-consuming. When the shop told me there was nothing they could do, I requested a call from the shop owner. The owner called me and kept going in circles about things I already knew. He said, since I didn't bring the car back after going to a different shop and having a diagnostic ran for the problem, he could do nothing for me. You think that they would figure something out in regard to the situation. I even told them I don't need the whole bill back, just something due to this situation happening. I would not trust this place. I HATE leaving bad reviews. If you go through reviews I leave I almost always leave a glowing reviews. I've had bad service in the past and I chalk it up to no one's perfect, things happen, and lord knows I've made mistakes. Last week I brought my car in because my AC wasn't working. I told them I thought it was the compressor. They said they need to do a diagnostic plus fill it with refrigerant which would cost an additional $400. They need to fill the refrigerant before testing the compressor, and it would be a one time fee if they need to refill the refrigerant if the compressor is indeed bad. Sure enough the compressor was bad. Almost $2k later I was told I'd have a great working ac. One day later it's not blowing cold air and when I parked I smelled burned rubber. I brought it in again and they said my expansion valves are bad. It would cost an additional $800 to fix. I called them back and asked why weren't the expansion valves checked when they did the diagnostic. Tristen said it's because they needed the ac fully charged with refrigerant. I said that's what you said about the compressor, that's why I paid an additional $400 at the get go. I told him I feel like I'm being taking advantage of, he said he's sorry I feel that way. read more

I should have known better than to go to Valvoline Express Care to have my lights checked as jiffy lube would have done the same job for free. Especially after my experience last year when they tried to tell my partner that she needed $2000 worth of work done. I took her to my mechanic for a second opinion and it was a $400 job. Just to give you some background on these scammers. I went in today to have a couple bulbs checked and a fuse. Left with my old bulbs and a $135 bill, absolutely nothing fixed. I was charged labour to take the bulbs in and out and to check a fuse. What a joke, $135 bill. This bulb check should take about 10mins to do, yet I was told it was 2 guys and an hour. I have done a lot of my own work in the past and this simply is not true. This place is a scam and I should have known better. I will never be back and I'll be sure to express my disappointment to others. This being said, there is a real lack of customer service. They held my truck keys hostage until I payed the bill even though I had an issue with how much they were charging me to literally put my old bulbs back in. Absolutely ridiculous. I would have payed a small amount to check my bulbs but this bill is out of control. Look for yourself at my bill I posted and don't be skewed by the verbiage as they try to make it sound like they actually did something. I also saw two bewildered customers come in about their costs. These guys are not upfront and will absolutely take advantage of anyone that walks through that door. I'm an idiot for going back and literally throwing $135 in the garbage for nothing. read more

Let me explain...I am judging by your response to the review, I am sure that I would be satisfied with the services. You responded very professionally and explained in detail exactly what the issues were, you offered for the customer to come in so that you could show her what you were talking about, and finally, you offered to rectify what was presumed to be a problem ( to the best of your ability, the car needed some important maintenance that wasn't easily repaired ). For other people shopping for auto services by reading the reviews, remember that there are a lot of folks out there that are basically 'difficult'. Please, read the responses to the bad reviews, as well. It is important to know how the establishment handles customers' complaints. There is a chance that you may not be happy with their services, and how they respond to complaints gives you a good idea about their overall work ethic, therefore, how likely they are to do their best during the initial undertakings. I read excellent reviews of Express Care on Google, but didn't quite understand how people could be so excited about their oil changes and automotive repairs, let alone write about them on review sites. Well, I pulled up at Express Care yesterday and 20 minutes later, Ernest had really won me over in what was the most pleasant car maintenance interaction I've ever had. It's easy to get nervous in car maintenance situations because the technicians know so much more than you do and it's easy to feel like you're being put on the spot when you find out about what other things that are wrong or whatever options are available to you. Despite being presented with a couple of choices, Ernest was super patient, friendly, not pushy in the least when I asked questions to learn more about the situation. He even watched me stare into space for like 20 seconds thinking things over without pressuring me in the least over the decision. After I had explained some more about my unusual situation (my car is going to be sitting in the garage for the better part of the year due to lots of travel), he straight up told me he wouldn't do anything extra at all and just save the money, and would have told me that sooner had he known. He definitely created a space where I could reach that realization on my own and I'm very grateful for that. That kind of integrity will turn everyone into a fan--so here I am, telling you how excited I am about my oil change at Express Care on a review site... Because it was a slower time (lunch hour on a Monday), I was even able to have a great conversation with Ernest while he worked on my car, and I learned a ton about what kind of cars he enjoys working on, which ones he doesn't, what an engine flush is, and what the different types of motor oils are good for. I went to this establishment based upon reviews I read here on the Yelp-ternet! And I was not disappointed! The price is *quite* on target, they are not pushy and in fact very helpful. During the light-check they identified that my front headlight was out (I knew and was replacing this weekend) but also noticed that my license-plate lights were out (the victim of many a pull-over by police for an arbitrary reason) and did a speedy replacement, which I respect and admire! I went here for an oil change and they offered to do it while I was waiting in the lobby or waiting in the car. I chose to do the latter. Multiple people were involved in my oil change and they were quick and respectful/professional. They did offer other services, but I would say that they were services that I needed. That said, one "no" was all it took to get for them to offer the next service. They weren't pushy at all, nor did they try to make me fell bad about declining. It was $30 for an oil change with regular oil. I didn't ask how much an oil change with synthetic oil was. This was definitely a much better experience than Jiffy Lube. I had an excellent experience yesterday at Valvoline Express. I pulled in to get an oil change and have my battery checked. The technician was speedy, kind, and above all, not pushy. He told me that I will need to change my battery and transmission fluid soon but didn't try to convince me to get it done with them that day. I was quoted 37.99 for your basic oil change, one of the employees had to go to Baxters to get something and when he returned ( my oil already drained) he said it would be another 16.00 for the filter because they do not stock it. I have had oil changes at many different places over the years, but this place was the most disappointing place of all. I feel like BECAUSE I am a woman they tried very hard to sell unnecessary services and products I did not need. Had I NOT KNOWN that these were hard-sell & unwanted items, I might have taken the bait. When I continued to decline items they seemed BOTHERED by my desire for a simple oil change. I felt they were also using scare tatics to try to hard sell me. The oil change was adequate, but I have since found better places to go. I would especially warn WOMEN to stay away. The MAN customer in the other bay was receiving DIFFERENT treatment. I didn't see ( or hear ) them trying to hard sell to him. I came in the late afternoon to get my breaks fix. Every time I stepped on my breaks it felt like a sponge and not only that but my car wouldn't fully break. Writing this after second visit to the business. The first trip was good, pulled off I5 just because I needed an oil change and was putting it off because the last experience where the guys wear stupid hats and ties was way below average. My standards were low to say the least based on my last experience. I was happy that the guys doing the oil changes actually knew about cars and were all working together. I needed to get my oil changed again and almost forgot about them and was going to go to one of the one stop, take your money, up sell like crazy, and strip your bolts place until I remembered them. On their second trip I was even happier than the first. These guys are actually mechanics! They checked my transmission fluid, then since the tech who did it had just been to a class regarding new (2012 F150) vehicles he told me how to do it and also warned me not to shut off my engine before replacing the plug. I'm so happy with these guys I'm going to rent my u-haul trailer from them instead of from the unknown pick up location closer to my house... From my experience other oil chance places employ individuals who couldn't get a job at a McDonalds, (no offence Micky D workers) in contrast to car guys who care about what they are doing at this location. And it is a plus that they offer Valvoline oil at a reasonable rate, I'm going to start buying my 20/50 VR1 racing oil from them for my classics at home. read more

This place is CROOKED. Do NOT go here. They sabotaged my car. I took my car in for spark plugs. They told me they were in stock and to come right in. I got there and they apologized and said they were actually waiting for them to be delivered. It would be just a few extra minutes. 2.5 hrs LATER they said the spark plugs were finally done but aggressively told me my car was leaking oil like crazy and I needed to fix it right away. I didn't have time to stay and I smelled something fishy so said no. They were very pushy trying to talk me out of leaving. I got home and looked at my parking spot. The car had been parked there for days without moving prior to going to Valvoline Express. NO oil drops ANYWHERE. 2 neighbors, one who is a mechanic also looked with me and he said there was no way I had an oil leak with such a dry parking spot. This morning I go out to my car and 2 big fresh oil puddles were under the car! It's very obvious what happened there. I'll be filing a complaint with the better business bureau. These guys are awesome! I was visiting from Eugene, OR and attending a conference at the Red Lion Hotel at Jantzen Beach when my car starting having electrical issues and stopped working. There are few things more anxiety producing than being 100 miles from home, not knowing the area (and good, reputable service providers), and wondering if your car can be fixed. I found these guys via Yelp, they were close by, and they had great reviews - so thought, why not? Had my car towed to them, was assured they would take a look, and if it was what they thought (alternator), they would get it fixed that day. They told me they'd call as soon as they verified the issue and had an estimate for me. A few hours later, after not hearing from them, I called and found out it was the alternator, it would be about $380 to fix it and, most importantly, it would be done that day so I could head back to Eugene. When I called around 4 p.m. to check the status, they said they still needed to get to my car, but they would stay after hours to get it done. To be honest, I was skeptical and worried I would have to stay another night. Still not hearing from them by closing time at 6 p.m., I called shortly after and they said they were working on it and would stay and make sure I could get home. A little over an hour later, they called to let me know my car would be done in about 15 minutes. I was grateful, but wondering how much more it would cost because of the "overtime". When I got there, they were finishing up, and to my surprise - no extra charges for the "overtime" labor! The cost was just as they quoted. Also, they were positive and provided great customer service, despite having a long day. As a thank you and demonstration of my gratitude, I brought them sub sandwiches. The only negative in the experience was having to contact them for additional information about my car, rather than them keeping me in the loop. BUT, the positives of working with the guys at Express Care far outweigh that minor inconvenience. If you're in the area, and need some auto repairs, or even an oil change, go to Express Care. Hi my name is Heather and I brought a 1999 Dodge Neon into Express Auto Care. I was extremely nervous about the car that it was going to be just because urban legends about being ripped off... mind you I had never been to this place I had my car towed there sight unseen. I was going to make it there following the tow truck guy... But I never did. I had been called into work early. Work was very busy so it was quite a few hours before I was able to get ahold of the shop... Little did I know I had already missed three phone calls to my cell phone. Apparently there was an issue with the tow truck guy and the payment to the company. The company did not try to get ahold of me...rather then get hold of me tow truck company told the shop that they needed to pay or else he will impound vehicle. Mind you I know nothing of this at the time. What happened next is really what made this experience worth it. Are you ready? Now keep in mind I have met anyone nor have I ever been to this shop before... They paid the tow truck fee as 2 keep my car from impound... $95 they paid them just wrote him a check. It's pretty amazing if you ask me because they did not have to do at all whatsoever I mean what do they care you know at least I think. But they did. Not only that butt they fix my car right they didn't screw me with any outrageous prices didn't fix anything more than what's was wrong with the vehicle... long story short let me just say this if you ever need your car fixed bring it to these guys hands down the most amazing job I have ever heard about. It was a pleasure talking with and working with Jesse in particular I'm sure you had a team of some pretty great guys working with you after hours just to fix my car that I wasn't even able to pick up till today. These guys blew me out of the water totally exceeded every expectation not only that but next time I know now they even have a tow truck I would much rather put money in these guys pockets anyway I can... Definitely 150 percent recommend it to anybody needing their car serviced in any way she perform including having it towed thanks guys you are amazing keep up the good work you deserve a bonus of any kind you guys deserve thay. C.J. is 100% incorrect. C.J. has no idea what the benefits are of an engine flush are. my car's engine was knocking so bad I had thought I blew a rod or maybe something VERY costly. They suggested that I start with the engine flush, to see if the problem would at least quiet down a little until I could afford to fix it. When the service was complete, the noise was completely gone. It turns out that I had ignored the oil change (even though there was a sticker and a light on my dash that told me to do it) that the valve's were sticking and the engine flush cleared it up completely, and have been changing the oil using a semi synthetic and have NO problems sense.
