Ask the Community - Improv LA

Have you guys started in person classes yet?

Yes! In-person classes have returned! We now have both in-person and online available - both the same class, so the choice is yours! New session starts in a couple of weeks.

Does Improv LA have shows? (They don't have one-time intro classes, they don't have drop-ins, they don't have auditing-how are you supposed to get an idea of the quality of instruction before forking over hundreds of dollars?)

Hi! Thanks for your question! We do have shows (Levels 2 and 3 have graduation performances) and…

The experience starts with a fun partner Q&A, followed by an 18-minute challenge where you are cuffed together in silicone handcuffs trying to solve puzzles. It was incredibly fun and a great team-building exercise for couples. There are so many rooms and exhibits to explore that we completely lost track of time--we entered at 1:30 PM and didn't leave until 8:00 PM! It was amazing how fast the day flew by. We truly learned so much about each other and bonded on a much deeper level. Tip: Grab the combination ticket! It includes admission to the Love Museum, and since the tickets have no expiration date, you can save the second museum for a future date night. We're already looking forward to coming back to check out the gift shop (which was closed during our visit) and reliving the fun. Highly recommend!

I wish they had more sections like that. The rest of the time you are free exploring the museum at your own pace. You get to leave small mementos in the museum as well that you create with your partner. Super cute activity

Great escape room if you're a woman who loves losing bodily autonomy!…read more My two friends and I (all female) recently did the Magic Kingdom room at Maze Rooms LA on Vermont. Before we started, the one person working offered an option to have surprise, intermittent visits from a character named "Steve the extra-terrestrial" (AKA that same game master wearing an alien mask). This option was a sort of expansion pack on the standard room, with Steve being described in vague terms as "a helper and a hinderer" i.e. he may help you get to the next step or he may make it more difficult for you to do so. We assumed this meant adjusting certain room elements or leading us to/from specific clues, thought it sounded like a fun challenge and accepted the Steve option. We did NOT realize this meant Steve would TICKLE US. ALL OF US. MULTIPLE TIMES. It is so wildly unacceptable to be repeatedly and unwelcomely touched, especially in this context. We had to stop midway to lecture this man about consent. He rounded out the evening with some sexual comments (which it seems were encouraged by the owner to be shared with every group) that made us all wildly uncomfortable and we left feeling icky, regretful and drained. Beyond the unwanted touching, the room itself needs maintenance; a few key items were broken or malfunctioning, and they had to do a full tech reset on the room halfway through. TL;DR: Take your money elsewhere unless you love getting tickled by strangers. And if you do come here, DO NOT DO THE STEVE OPTION.

When we asked for an accommodation, the security guard was rude and told us that if my son wanted water, he could walk all the way to the entrance every time, despite the distance from the bowling area. Hoping to resolve the issue, I spoke with the manager, Luis Gonzalez, but unfortunately he was just as dismissive and uninformed about autism and disabilities. Rather than listening and showing compassion, he was rude and unwilling to understand my son's needs. Businesses that serve families should make an effort to educate their staff about disabilities and neurodiversity. With autism becoming more widely recognized, basic awareness, empathy, and reasonable accommodations should not be too much to ask. This experience left us feeling unwelcome and unsupported. I will also be reaching out to upper management, including Cynthia Torres, to make her aware of this situation and to see whether changes can be made. As an autism mom, it is my responsibility to advocate not only for my son but for other individuals with autism and disabilities as well. No family should have to experience being dismissed or treated without understanding when simply requesting reasonable accommodations. My hope is that this feedback leads to better education, awareness, and compassion from staff so that all guests feel welcomed and respected.
