Had a solid time throwing axes with my friends last weekend! It was my first time and the coach was very helpful. They don't just throw you into the fire. You get a quick tutorial before getting started and coaching your entire reservation. I went 1/4 when throwing and called it quits after sticking my first axe haha. Had to quit while I was ahead. The 5 star review is mainly for the coach holding our reservation down. A lot of people were trying to hop into our reservation, but the coach regulated for us and kept the party private.

My wife wanted to throw some axes for her birthday, so after some research I found Hatchet Hound, and it was completely the move. We invited some friends to make it a foursome, met up at the Arts District Bar (where Hatchet Hound is located, it's part of their outdoor patio) for food and a few rounds of drinks beforehand, then arrived at Hatchet Hound's blocked off axe throwing corner for our hour long reservation. And we had so much fun! After some quick but informative instruction, we threw axes for a bit to warm up, played a ton of games on their dartboard-style bullseye (21, and HORSE), learned how to throw axes underhand and two at once (this review might be biased as I nailed a double bullseye), and had tons of laughs. Our Hatchet Hound guide was always there to give us some tips and advice, but wasn't overbearing and was a super nice guy. It was a total blast and would definitely recommend it, and I'm already planning on coming back for another round with friends or coworkers . Thanks so much for having us! read more

Highly recommended! We did a team building event here and had a blast. Our instructor did a really good job of giving good feedback and keeping everything fun (and safe). If you want to arrange for food for the group, you will need to contact Arts District Brewery separately in advance. The Brewery has a system for group drink tickets that works really well, but it requires some coordination. Be sure to let the Brewery know that you have reservations for Hatchet Hound, so you can reserve a table by the axe throwing lanes. read more

For Valentine's Day, my boyfriend surprised me with an hour session of axe throwing. 'We had fun' is an understatement. The moment you walk into the establishment, the energy and vibes were immaculate. Highly recommend getting to the location early so you can stop at the bar for a drink with Andrew, the bartender. Once we started our session, Matt was extremely kind and very patient with an newbie like me. He was super fun to just hangout with, for one, but was also very polite and reassuring no matter how many times I screwed up. Matt's the owner, so we got lucky but it was one of the best nights I've had in 2025. Shout out to you for creating such a fun and engaging space. If you're looking for an intimate interactive experience, definitely have to try axe throwing with Hatchet Hound. 25/10, highly recommend. - Lydia! read more

Reserve online for a specific slot and make sure your party arrives ON TIME because they end on the hour too. Enter either from the back patio or through Brewport. The instructor does a good job of teaching everyone how to throw and to guide and encourage people. Super fun! We booked a lane but they allowed us to use both lanes (maybe they always do that), so we had people going against each other. get food either before or after so you don't have to worry about dirty hands! read more

Had a birthday blast with friends this weekend. Instructor/coach was AWESOME, she was patient, attentive and enthusiastic. She was knowledgeable and gave great tips! Despite our group all being over 50 (and not drunk), it was like she had to herd kittens (soooo patient with us). We all had a great game and a ton of fun. The sound of landing an ax into a bullseye drove our friendly crowd into wild cheers, hoots and hollers!. We will do this again!! read more

For what you get. This place is very expensive. It's just a stall with 2 targets in the bar patio area. That's it. The more people you have, the less each person gets to play but you end up paying more. Go elsewhere if you want to throw axes. read more

Established in 2021.

Hatchet Hound is an expanding company with multiple locations focused on events. Born during the pandemic we wanted to give ourselves and others something fun to do! So we decided to throw some axes, because who doesn't like to throw something sharp every once in a while! We held our first event on Mother's Day at the Brig on Abbott Kinney in Venice and never looked back. We pride ourselves in giving the best experience for everyone whether you're an experienced thrower or it your first time. Our goal is to bring the fun!

To add to this, we needed to be buzzed in so we could enter the premise. Once we were inside, the ambiance changed completely and there were a couple of IG worthy spots to take pictures while checking in. We opted for the spinning art experience since my daughter is too young to partake in the more elaborate ones. Originally, we booked for 4 people but one person got sick so we asked if we could transfer the funds for that person for another experience since there are no refunds. Luckily, was able to contact them the day before and added the bunny paint pour over experience. Ozzie was our guide and he was super kind and gentle with my daughter. We were instructed to pick 5 colors and then we donned our plastic bootie covers, apron and gloves. We entered our designated art room and was blown away by all the colors on the wall. There was even a tire swing which my daughter was all about. The spinning art experience was a lot of fun and I enjoyed seeing my daughter embrace the paint. I think her favorite part was when she had free rein to paint all over the walls. Overall, we had a great time. Only down side is that it does go by super quick and is quite an expensive experience for one hour. However, we get to have a treasured memento which is ready for pick up about 5 days afterwards and we did have a great time. That being said, #noragrats!

When we asked for an accommodation, the security guard was rude and told us that if my son wanted water, he could walk all the way to the entrance every time, despite the distance from the bowling area. Hoping to resolve the issue, I spoke with the manager, Luis Gonzalez, but unfortunately he was just as dismissive and uninformed about autism and disabilities. Rather than listening and showing compassion, he was rude and unwilling to understand my son's needs. Businesses that serve families should make an effort to educate their staff about disabilities and neurodiversity. With autism becoming more widely recognized, basic awareness, empathy, and reasonable accommodations should not be too much to ask. This experience left us feeling unwelcome and unsupported. I will also be reaching out to upper management, including Cynthia Torres, to make her aware of this situation and to see whether changes can be made. As an autism mom, it is my responsibility to advocate not only for my son but for other individuals with autism and disabilities as well. No family should have to experience being dismissed or treated without understanding when simply requesting reasonable accommodations. My hope is that this feedback leads to better education, awareness, and compassion from staff so that all guests feel welcomed and respected.

The hands-on experience was communal, which helped to break the ice between participants. We each ended up with a few delicious treats to enjoy or bring home for later. My own work was kind of clumsy and I was not made to feel embarrassed at all, just encouraged to enjoy the process. And I did! I recommend Foodstory if want to explore Japanese food and want something fun to do with family or friends.

We held a corporate event for 30 associates at Hatchet Hound and everyone had such a great time. Mary hosted our event and taught us everything we needed to know about hatchet throwing. She kept score, answered questions, gave us pointers and was with us the whole time. The food that was catered for the event was very good. We had mini sliders, salads, shrimp skewers, caprese skewers and falafel. Food was served on time and warm. The bar crew was friendly and attentive. I did this with a group of friends, definitely bucket list event! We had a great time! The setting was awesome. Its inside Arts District Brewing Company so we were able to eat and drink while we played. Matt was our coach, he was very patient teaching us all how to throw! After we got the basics he led us through lots of games...I'm a little competitive, so that part was awesome! Definitely not your typical axe bar, which I liked. Would definitely recommend for a night out with friends. The bar also had other games which was great too! read more

Our team had such a great experience at the Hatchet Hound in El Segundo! Matt was an excellent ax-throwing guide and made the whole time engaging, fun, and exciting for our group. Honestly didn't think we'd have much fun just throwing an axe but Allison made the whole experience so much fun with her personality and catering to each person's skill level. We had a wonderful time and would spend more time if we could. 11/10, would do again! read more
