She was not capable of taking orders or remembering to make them. We ordered cappuccinos and surfer's fuel (which is a simple granola bowl with fruits). We finished our drinks and had to remind her that we were waiting on granola bowls. Then she starts making only one bowl anyway we ended up with a subordinary bowl at the end. You have to wait unacceptably long time. They act like they don't need you but you need them. Don't waste your time if your time is valuable to you. read more

Imua coffee roasters needs to be talked about more. The quality of their drinks is amazing! I had a matcha latte with lavender and wow my life was changed. This place is a little hard to find because it's tucked away in the corner, but when you find it you'll be so glad you did! I really like the ambiance and how it had an outdoor patio in the back to sit and enjoy your coffee! The workers are very friendly and they gave very clear answers to my questions. Food: Muffin and coffee were game changing! The cold brew crush (added in Uala which is like "Ube" syrup), shaken up with oat creamer was perfection. So refreshing and strong too, definitely was freshly brewed cold brew! My strawberry lilikoi muffin was also GAME CHANGER. The kind barista drizzled Lilikoi syrup on top and warmed up my muffin to enhance the flavor, which was amazing. I love muffins and finished the whole thing! The best coffee I've had on the island. Uala blend latte with oat/soy milk. Rich, creamy and delicious. Sweet, but not too sweet. I recommend the smaller size, as they do 4 espresso shots in the bigger size and it changes the flavor a bit. read more

This hidden gem coffee shop is. serene, and beautifully tucked away in a secluded quiet corner. Delicious plant-based drinks including cold brew, cappuccino with oat milk, and delicious breakfast with oats and yogurt with fruit ("surfers delight"), or a papaya boat with coconut yogurt, honey, and coconut flakes. The Kona pour over was undrinkable. It was so watery and bitter. I remember Kona coffee being delicious but it wasn't here. Waste of $8.50!! The latte also wasn't good. The espresso was sour which I suspect was moreso the fault of the barista than the actual bean itself. Poor technique. Additionally if you're not going to have any daily options than at least have good quality nondairy "milks" use a good brand name not some Costco or Silk garbage with tons of fillers. My mom and I loved this shop while we were here. I am a bit of a coffee connoisseur, and the taste of their coffee is excellent. They source everything locally, are dairy free (and I don't usually use a non-dairy milk/creamer gal, and I loved it...don't let that discourage you), and I believe their food is vegan. The husband and wife who run it are so sweet, and he knew our order by the end of the trip. A must visit if you're staying in Kapa'a, especially if you're in Islander on the Beach!! This place is located in an out of the way corner of Kapaa/Waimua behind parking lots and hotels and is a bit hard to find. The hours are short. If you are looking for an afternoon coffee spot, they will likely be closed already. The coffee is very good. The barista did not know how to make a coffee mocha, and had to wait for help. Their little outdoor seating area is pretty rustic (generously speaking). I would not go out of my way to search out this place. But the coffee is good. read more

My husband and I had an awesome experience at Imua. It is our first time on Kauai and we came originally for a coffee. When we walked in, Mairi and Nahea greeted us and made us feel very welcome. I am lactose intolerant and was excited to hear that everything was dairy-free. Mairi and Nahea were extremely friendly and helpful and made me the best Chia pudding I've ever had! it was a huge portion and I loved the coconut shavings on top. My husband really enjoyed his surfers fuel. Make sure you don't leave before buying the vegan Malasadas. They are amazing! This coffee shop was fortunately placed in front of our Airbnb so this had to be a stop at some point. We took the plunge on the second day of our trip and this instantly became a stop we had to do everyday. The coffee here was phenomenal, the cold brew blend is so strong and delicious that I was energized all day. My wife had a latte and was overly surprised at its deliciousness. We took bags home to the mainland and enjoyed every visit to this shop and the owners who run it were very friendly. read more

I came to Hawai'i wanting to try all the coffee spots and luckily this coffee shop was in walking distance to the resort I was staying in. The customer service is so laid back and kind here, I loved it. I bought two bags of coffee from them and can't wait to try them back home. I got their espresso blend and then tried the opposite side of their coffee spectrum, which was their light roast which is meant to be very fruity! It smells delicious. One of the best coffee we had on the island (we tried like 10+ different shops). The beans were roasted to perfection and the fermentation gives the espresso so much life and depth. Ahhh. The aroma and mouthfeel are just amazing. Got a shaken espresso with coconut milk and it was so perfectly made. Service was really great too. Note this place is completed plant based. It's pretty small inside but very cute with all sorts of local merchandise like beans and granola, mushroom powder etc. Highly recommend if you are a caffeine addict looking for a local dealer! read more

I was staying at the nearby Aston Islander, and we were given coffee discount coupons for this shop upon check-in. I appreciate a discount, so we tried the macadamia nut latte and a chai latte. The shop also has a case of local pastries (macadamia sticky buns, stuffed croissants, etc.) and a coffee roaster on display in the lobby. There is no indoor seating but there are tables available on the covered patio - unfortunately there is no free wifi here, but it's a quiet spot to enjoy your morning beverage. The macadamia nut latte I had here was the only bad one I had in Kauai. It had virtually no flavor and seemed like either a really weak brew (which seems unusual given comments in other reviews) or just overly milky, but this may be because the barista is new. BF said his chai was okay, and it was on the sweeter side per his preferences. The guy I ordered with was polite and walked me through menu options and explained the discount. The barista who made my drink came across as unfriendly - she made no eye contact when putting my drink on the counter and did not acknowledge me in any way, even when I said thank you. TIP: Double check hours before you go, they're only open til noon and closed Sundays. read more

Well . . . I have been trying lots of new coffee places when ever I get the chance. Cute little shop. Tucked away. Very cute and welcoming inside and lovely staff. Also pleased and a bit excited to see that they roast their coffee on site. When I ordered my latte I ordered it with whole milk and was a little caught off guard when the response was "we are a dairy free shop". . . As a lover of all things dairy my first thought was why on earth can I not have milk? but ok. I will give it a try. "I will have an oat Latte please" it was fine. I'm not going to rate the shop on their opinions and choice to not have dairy but it seems silly but 100% within their right as a business owner and coffee creator to do that. The espresso seemed good and the oat "milk" was fine but I do think it's odd to call it milk it's oat drink coffee. You can't have a latte without milk but whatever. If you are non dairy you will probably enjoy this place. I like milk so I don't think I will be back but other than transparency, they do a nice job. Just offer some milk! read more

This little coffee shop was right outside of our Airbnb so stopped here a couple of times during our trip. I will say they had some of the best drip coffee I've had. The first day it was a Guatemalan roast and the second time I tried it was a Peruvian roast and both were excellent. We tried their chai tea as well and weren't very big fans of it but if you like a nice bold cup of coffee then this is your place! read more

I don't ever write yelp reviews, especially not for a café i visited almost 2 years ago, but I had to for this because I still think about it to this day! This hidden gem is maybe my most missed cafe ever. With your first step into Imua you're met with cozy vibes and friendly staff who are all incredibly knowledgeable of all things coffee. Their entirely plant based nature means that there's no up charge for alt milks which could make me cry tears of joy in todays economy. Coffee was really great. But honestly the main reason I'm writing this review is simply because of that damn Taro Coconut Muffin. This is my plea for the recipe since I can't get it in Texas! I totally missed that was gluten free until I came back the next morning and reread the sign, it's that good. Other items we ordered had nuts so I couldn't eat them, but I was more than happy with my "Taco" muffin. I hope to be back in Kauai soon so that we can reunite. read more

Cute little coffee shop in the corner of the Coconut plaza next to the Islander. You get a free coffee coupon for every night you stay at the Islander. The coupon can be redeemed for $2 off a "fancy" coffee drink. I ordered the 16 oz latte every morning. The beans are roasted right there inside the store. It wasn't my favorite latte but I'm pretty basic and make my own lattes at home so I'm used to my homemade lattes. There's a cute lanai that you can sit and sip your coffee. Owner actually made my coffee and was friendly enough. The shop is really tiny but if you need a coffee why not support a local. Definitely would recommend. read more

Until we tried their cold brew plus (trust me you won't regret it, if you like cold brews lol), anyways the owner was super nice and welcoming.
