Best malasadas!! We found this spot and went early around 7am to be sure we could grab a couple of filled malasadas which they're famous for. We ordered the passion fruit, coconut, and 1 plain/non filled. We ended up ordering another coconut and a chocolate one as it was fresh out of the back. We also ordered 2 coffees. Coffees were good, but we really came for the malasadas and they did not disappoint. The staff was lovely, helpful, made great recs and friendly. There are a couple of tables inside so we sat and enjoyed them while talking with a few locals about how wonderful the Bakeshop is. Came here on a whim because we stopped at Pono Market and it was next door. WOW these croissants were legit. Freshly baked and they had some yummy savory options. We did the mushroom, onion, and Swiss. Highly recommended if you are a mushroom lover. Definitely recommended if you are a croissant fan like me. There were so many other pastries we could buy, but our stomach was only so full. They do run out so I recommend coming here early. read more

We hit up this spot prior to our journey to the northern part of the island for the day. It was right near our resort, so we walked over and headed out! It's a cute little shop, bright and welcoming. We were helped right away. They have a lot of items to choose from. We had to ask about some of the malasadas and the fillings, and they were super friendly and helpful. My oldest got a huge strawberry matcha. I opted for a regular sized blueberry matcha. They make their syrups in house. The matchas were really good. My youngest got a hot chocolate and said it was good! We got an assortment of malasadas. The strawberry ones were the best. The Ube was just okay. They didn't taste super fresh, and I wish they'd been warmed up. Maybe they would have done that if I'd asked. Oh well. read more

We had malasada's here for breakfast & the coffee was just okay. The plain was everyone's favorite. The mango flavor was the best out of the filled and tasted fresh, coconut was just okay. Very casual place with yummy malasadas and friendly employees. I tried going in around 2 pm for malasadas on Saturday afternoon, but they were totally out of their baked goods. They mentioned that it'd be safe to go in before 10/11 am, so I went in before 9 am the next day (there was no line) and was able to see what I think was their entire selection of malasadas. They have plain malasadas as well as filled ones. I tried the plain as well as passion orange guava which was good, both tart and sweet. They were still a little warm when I got them! They also had guava and a couple other yellow/light yellow fillings that I can't remember what they were already oops. They also had sausage rolls, morning buns, etc, but I only tried the malasadas. For drinks, they have different coffee/blended frappe options. Good place to stop by if you want to try some solid malasadas! read more

Tried Wailua Bakeshop on my last day on Kauai and I wish that I would have visited sooner. Planned for a run beforehand and ending here - my motto is I run so I can eat, and coffee and donut are a standard post run grub for me. Was met with a welcoming smile and ordered a coffee and a plain malasada and sat outside - there were plenty of seating inside but I wanted to sit outside. Coffee and malasada were very good. Stopped by this bake shop to pick up a malasada. It reminded me of a large donut hole! The dough was not too dense and coated with an abundance of cinnamon & sugar. My favorite bakery and coffee shop in Kapaa is Wailua Bakeshop. Hands down the best baked goods, and always a great variety of yummy pastries to choose from. I love bringing friends and family here because there is really something for everyone. Nice ambiance and always a lot of seats and tables available. They have a great matcha latte, and I was really impressed with the Pina Colada muffin. My suggestion is to go in the morning when there is a lot of baked goods to choose from. The later in the afternoon, the more items are sold out. Parking in front is usually available, but if not there's parking behind the Mexican restaurant too. All of the employees are so nice and welcoming also. They always are so helpful and patient with me. Also I believe I have met the owner (perhaps she was a manager?) but she was also extremely nice. Definitely will continue to bring my friends and family here. read more

Adding on to my original review in such a short time because I went here 6 days in a row....I am not much of a scones person but damn the Strawberry and Blueberry ones were really good usually to me a scone tastes like a dry flat muffin...somehow they are really good here!!!! I mean moist in the inside with a crunchy outer layer.....Not overly sweet either! Next...You really get that neighborhood vibe in this place which I love and I thought it was awesome she had a picture of the crew that hungout next door and now hangout at this location everyday! One of the best chais we had on island. Java Kai is our favorite coffee shop. This is more of a stark diner feel. Does have limited bar top seating. Malasada was majorly disappointing. Which is primarily why we stopped. We had the most amazing Malasada in Maui made fresh and this was not worth the calories. Malasada was heavy and basically an uninspiring bread covered in sugar. Hope their other pastries are better but would pass on their Malasada and try other treats or stick to the drinks since they are so good. read more

The service here is so welcoming and helpful. I had a few questions about the type of tea and about the sweetness of the coffees, and the employee that helped me was quick to answer and so knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the flying saucer, blueberry scone, hot dog roll, raspberry iced tea with lemon, cold brew, and a Mac nut latte with oat milk. The Mac nut latte was heavenly. Hands down one of the best ones I've had. The flying saucer... surprisingly tasty! I'm not a huge flying saucer fan, but this was so good. The bun wasn't too heavy, and the meat wasn't too saucy where it was overpowering. And, most importantly, it wasn't oily. Definitely coming back to order these! I also ordered a slice of pumpkin crunch. It was so good! The crust wasn't too crunchy and crumbly. The filling was just the right amount. And the whip cream, was perfect. The ratio of everything was spot on to how my husband and I like it. If they have these left in their fridge, I highly recommend trying it. read more

Everything looked tempting, but the malasadas were the real standout. They were light, warm, and perfectly sweet. Heading out to the airport to go back home, we made a quick stop to Wailua Bakeshop to hopefully get a few malasadas because the ones we had during the rest of our trip weren't the best.
